Another Day, Another Partner

Rate this book
Officer Luciana "Lulu" Martinelli prefers to work alone. Who wouldn't, after falling in love with their partner, only to have him up and leave? Unfortunately, her captain, who's also her father, is determined to pair her with someone. His latest recruit, former Boston detective Dominic Delgado, is turning out to be harder to shake than the others. Dom's as talented at his job as he is gorgeous, and the worst part is...he knows it.

Lulu can't understand why a big-city cop would want to work for a small Rhode Island police department—until he's brutally attacked after his first day on the job. Dom didn't exactly give up his old life by choice, and some pretty terrifying bad guys want him dead. Things only get stickier when Lulu's ex-boyfriend Rob resurfaces with a far-fetched explanation for leaving her, and an interesting connection to Dom.

Forced to team up with the man who shattered her heart, her dangerously charming new partner, and even her bored teenage sister home on summer break, Lulu discovers her little town isn't as crime-free as she thought — and that maybe, just maybe, having a partner to watch her back isn't the worst thing in the world.

If you like Janet Evanovich, Kellye Garrett, or Gemma Halliday, you'll adore this jam-packed story full of romance, comedy, mystery, and snappy characters you'll root for.

Another Day, Another Partner takes place in a small town on Rhodes Island's coastline. Luciana Martinelli works as a police officer under her father's command. Even though he didn't want her to be a cop, he granted her the opportunity, and she took it.

Luciana had a few partners throughout the years, but she always managed to make them depart. In any case, she prefers to work by herself. However, one of her partners, Rob Porter, was fortunate enough to remain her partner and eventually date her. Everything changed when he abruptly departed town, and no one has heard from him since.

Her father wants to make sure she has someone with her at all times after an incident. Obviously, this does not make her happy. She believes she can make this new partner flee the same way the others have. She has no idea how difficult it would be for Dominic Delgado to flee.

Dom contacted Luciana in the middle of the night and asked her to come get him. When she arrives, she discovers that his house has been broken into and that he has been beaten bloodily on his bedroom floor. After witnessing all of this, she is curious about Dom's past and why he decided to downgrade to this position although he was a huge hotshot up in Boston.

The discovering of the truth creates plenty of issues. However, as the novel progresses, we learn more about Dom's experiences in Boston and how they have now followed him to Rhode Island. They now have to pursue the case he was working on in Boston, despite the fact that he was supposed to be laying low after being attacked. This isn't going to be simple. Especially when Rob shows up after being arrested since he was the one who beat Dom that night. The important question, though, is why. What made him do it, and what will happen next?

I'm not going to lie: Dom currently has a large chunk of my heart. Their blossoming relationship and teamwork were adorable and I love them.

I won a Kindle version of this book in a Librarything Early Reviewers giveaway in return for an honest review. And honestly? I thought this was adorable.

After Lucy's partner (police and intimate) blows town with no forwarding address Lucy swears off partners (police and intimate.) In the course of a year she scares off two assigned partners at work and swears off dating. That is until Dom comes to town and these small town cops get involved in stopping some big city gangsters while finding they have chemistry away from work as well. The writing was not always the best, but the story was well structured (I would not look for verisimilitude in the police work and the villains were of the Scooby Doo variety, but it did not bother me.) Lucy and Dom were adorable, I loved Lucy's family and even her ex. The whole thing was sweet as sugar, and there was nothing more racy than an exchange of kisses. I had a hellish couple of weeks at work (unusual for me, my work is pretty chill usually) and I am putting together some innovative professional programming to be rolled out next month, and I am a little spent. This bit of chick lit was totally restorative!

Even though I gobble down books like they were so much popcorn, I'm visual, and a bit of a movie kid. So, if I'm going to compare a book to something else, it's most likely going to be a movie. Saying that, there are some obvious connections in this story to the Miami Vice and Bad Boys franchises. But, there's something in the irreverent comedy that reminds me of Married To The Mob. This book pulled me in from the very beginning. There was just something so charming and endearing about our leading lady. Watching Lulu try so hard to be her best and fit into a man's world just made me cheer so hard for her. And navigating all the interpersonal dynamics she had to deal with left me howling with laughter. I have no idea where the author is going to take this series next, but I know I can't wait to read it.

Thanks to the publisher, Netgalley and the author for an ARC of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.
This is the first 'cop contemporary romance' in a long time and I really enjoyed it. Lucy (fondly known by her family ... and NO ONE else ... by the name Lulu) is working in a sleepy police department under an over-protective captain who happens to be her father. She's nursing a broken heart since her boyfriend/partner Rob up and left a year ago without explanation and has been running through partners like Kleenex since then.
So when Dom, her new partner, turns up - a recent transfer from Boston PD - she doesn't think he's going to last long. He's chatty and she's prickly - a recipe for disaster. It turns out that she is just starting to like him (helpful that he's hot) when her ex-boyfriend turns up gets her involved in an investigation that kind of derails her budding romance and threatens to do the same with her career.
While the story started out slow the action really picked up and the story-line was clever and engaging. I loved the other characters, especially Lulu's sister Val, and the romance is a little unpredictable which I found interesting. I am hoping the next book will also be about Lulu and her family as I am definitely invested in what happens next.

Another Day, Another Partner is the debut novel of Rachel Mucha, and it’s a good one; well-written and nicely paced. Action and comedy are well-balanced. However, for a series called Partners in Passion, it’s not at all steamy, and the only bedroom activity is sleeping.

Lulu Martinelli is a cop in a tiny town in Rhode Island, mostly because she didn’t have any other plans after college and made her father, the captain, hire her. After several partners have quit her during the past year because she’s been impossible after a breakup with the love of her life and her first partner, Rob, she’s assigned yet another one, Dominic Delgado.

Dom is a Boston cop recuperating in a small town after a bad drug bust where his partner was killed. He’s easy-going and not about to let Lulu get on his nerves. But the small-town peace is disrupted when the drug lord’s people show up, and at their heels arrives Lulu’s ex.

This was a fun and fast-paced read. Slightly predictable, but in a good way that made the reader anticipate the twists. Lulu was no-nonsense, slightly accident-prone, but not in an overly comical way, and nicely self-aware. The narrative was in first person from her point of view and her inner musings were fun to follow. Dom was a great, grownup man who was good at his work, secure enough to handle a woman as a partner, and fun to be around. Together they made a great couple, in more ways than one.

Side characters were kept at minimum, which was a good choice. The most important ones were Lulu’s sister Val and their father, who were both properly fleshed out and not mere props. They make a great supporting cast if the series continues with same characters.

The book wraps up nicely, so if this a stand-alone and the next book is about different people, it leaves the reader satisfied. But I for one would like to read more about Lulu and Dom.

Thank you so much, NetGalley and CityOwl press for the ARC!

This book started out slow, but as I got into it I loved every bit.

Despite Lulu's indecisiveness, she was able to stand her ground and get stuff done. Especially when she tries to make Dom leave, which obviously does not work lol. That was the fun part.

To be honest, I didn't expect a lot of action and all but it added more apic3 to the story.

Lulu and Dominic . . .

Lulu Martinelli is a cop who would rather work by herself than with a partner. But that’s not her choice to make, and her father assigns her Dominic Delgado as her newest partner. Apparently she is not easy to work with after the breakup with her first partner/boyfriend, Rob.

Dominic is a detective from Boston recovering from a drug bust that went wrong which ended in the loss of his partner. He could probably handle Lulu’s disruptions, but when the drug lord’s people arrive to attack him and Lulu’s boyfriend, Rob, comes back, things get a bit dicey.

There is much going on in this book which inspires laughter and suspense as the characters navigate through their sometimes crazy days. Grab your copy and see how everything plays out in the story. The characters make it fun and challenging.

I'm so proud that Another Day, Another Partner is my debut novel, because it's so representative of the kind of books I love and plan on continuing writing. There's romance and mystery, suspense and humor, banter and sarcasm. I really love Lulu and Dom -- great characters with chemistry are always the basis of anything I write, and I hope readers adore them as much as I do. Even with the overall light tone, I of course had to add some dramatic moments, because who doesn't love those?

I hope everyone enjoys this book, and will follow along on this journey with me -- and I hope there are many more books to come!

This reminds me a lot of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books and I meant that in the best way! The characters are funny, over-the-top and entertaining. I love Lulu and her family. The dad and the sister are so so hilarious. I like the suspense and the action too. I think both Dom and Rob are interesting characters as well. A fun great read!

A lovable fast-paced, must read! Lucy & Dom are a power couple!
Lucy is a strong, feisty, independent policewoman who’s Dad just happens to be the police Captain. Lucy’s previous partner, Rob, turned out to be a partner at work and in love; all was fine until one day he up sticks and left leaving Lucy heartbroken. Her dad, didn’t want her to work alone and for her own safety kept trying to force her to have new work partners, none of which lasted long. In comes Dom. Not much can be said about Dom apart from I fell a little bit more in love with Dom with every page that I read. While Dom keeps trying to flirt with Lucy, she keeps shutting him down until he phones her late one night saying he needed help. Lucy trusts her instincts and rushes to him to find him badly beaten up, and someone from Lucy’s past is coincidentally involved. They work together to catch the culprit but find themselves in something far worse!
If I see another book by Rachel it will be straight on my to read list!

I found a new writer to add to my favorites list. Loved the storyline and the female character Lulu is such a strong determine female with instincts and passion. Her old partner that she developed feelings for, as well as here new partner, have secrets and people out to silence them. Plenty of drama, surprises, danger, twists, great banter, romance and much more to totally hook you in until you are done reading the whole thing. The fast pace and great flow to the story keeps tension high and entertaining. Great ending.

The story
Luciana is a policewoman in a coastal Rhode Island town. Her father is the police captain and most of her work is pretty mundane. That’s until her new partner Dominic arrives. He’s transferred from Boston after a gang bust went awry and his partner of four years was killed. As much as Luce doesn’t want to like Dom, she realises his honesty and experience makes him the perfect partner.

My thoughts
After years of mundane parking tickets and crazy old ladies, suddenly there is loads of action in the small town. This story is filled with action, both romantic and police-take-down action. Despite the subject matter, this is a light hearted story with sisterly love and cute come backs between the characters. A fun read!

This was a fun easy read. I really enjoyed Lulu and her sister Val. I love Dom. He was fun and flirty without being over the top. I really enjoyed the dynamic of Lulu working for her dad. I can't imagine being a female police officer is easy and then to have your dad as your superior. The story flowed and I enjoyed that Lulu was a good shot. So many times it is just a lucky shot from the female that saves the day.

An absolute gem. I couldn’t put this book down, and it’s not even my usual genre! I connected immediately with the characters and was cheering on Dom the entire way (and Lulu of course). Even the other characters like the captain and Val had interesting side stories that kept me engaged. There’s a perfect mix of humor, romance, mystery, and suspense that I would say would interest any type of reader! Can’t wait for the next one. If I could give this 10 stars, I would.

Another Day, Another Partner by Rachel Mucha is a laugh out loud tale of a female cop who has had a series of crappy partners. The new guy is made of better stuff and may just be the one to stick. The family dynamics had me rolling. I highly recommend this fun story

Loved this book and couldn’t put it down! I had read the first couple chapters before going to bed but once I finally had time to sit down I flew through the rest and finished more than half the book in a few hours. I really enjoyed the characters, the mystery and adventure, as well as the bits of romantic tension between Lulu and her partner Dom and her ex-partner/ex-boyfriend Rob.
I cannot wait for the next book in the sequel and will be recommending to all of my friends.

3.5 🌟
-I love Dom! He's comical, handsome and funny man and very consistent throughout the book
-I wish they gave Gina a more angsty, badass scene you know?? I kinda anticipated that she was a hidden gem in Finnigan's shenanigans
-I kinda wish there are more to action to the climax because it feels kinda rush for me. I also wanted to have some kind of drama between Ryan and Finnigan to disclose the you-left-me-to-die scene
-The Ryan-Val combo is *chef's kiss*
-This books was interesting from start till the end
-Val is my main girl, my main baby. Val did nothing wrong in this book, she was perfect. I love everything about her
-I have love-hate relationship with Luciana, this woman confuses and infuriates me a lot but at the same time I like her attitude towards things

I absolutely LOVED this book! It's a fun, snappy, perfect combination of mystery and romance. Lulu is such a witty, strong protagonist, and you can't help but be swooned by her new partner, Dom. And the side characters - from Lulu's loveable sister, Val, to her brawny ex-boyfriend, Rob, to the cunning criminals they need to take down - make the story all the more enjoyable. I found myself becoming attached to these characters, rooting for them, wanting to spend time with them... and I think that's part of what makes a great story.

What's more, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, wondering what was going to happen with the police case as well as the romance. And each time I started to get comfortable or think I had it all figured out, Mucha through another twist my way. The author really has a knack for upping the stakes and creating tension from start to finish.

Another thing I really loved about this story was the voice/tone - I found myself laughing out loud and smiling at all the funny whips and quips Mucha added throughout, expertly making a story involving murder and drug lords feel light and fun.

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER PARTNER is a book that makes your heart race AND makes your heart happy. I can't wait for the next installment of Partners in Passion!

I really enjoyed this book. It was a hilarious combo of mystery, action and romance. Lulu, a small town police officer had gone through several partners and prefers to work alone after her last partner/boyfriend was a dud. Then Boston detective Dom arrives and might just be the one to change Lulu's aversion to partners! There is great banter between Lulu and Dom including plenty of sarcasm. You can't help but cheer them on.

While this is a romance book, it is not the spicy kind and leans more to the mystery/suspense side. It was a great read and strong debut love novel.

Thank you NetGalley and the author for the ARC of Another Day, Another partner in exchange for my honest feedback.

This is a simply wonderful novel - an incredibly strong debut! All the characters are great - love Lulu as a strong, opinionated, female cop. She's a unique and captivating heroine. And of course, her new partner Dom is swoon-worthy (he BAKES). The plot is the perfect blend of action/suspense and romance, complete with witty banter and humor. (I dare you not to laugh at the wonderful boat names that make an appearance!) Definitely something for a variety of readers here. Rom-com fans can't go wrong with this one! Can't wait to read more about Lulu and Dom!!!
