“Some people look up to doctors and lawyers, but it was never like that for me. I had my family, and I had the club. All I ever wanted to be was a Burner Boy.”For Yadero life wasn’t always easy. From losing his mother at the age of three to being thrown into the foster care system he’d experienced it all. But sunny days came when he was finally adopted at the age of ten. All Yadi wanted to do was live his best life, hang with his crew and ride his bike. He didn’t have time for anything else until his amber eyes fell upon the beautiful Liberty.Liberty wasn’t as lucky as Yadi. She had a troubled childhood and a stressful life as a young adult. She didn’t have the luxury to be like every other twenty-year-old. She worked two jobs to provide for her home and also attended school full time. No sleep, long days and stress was her life until a quiet, handsome biker drove into her world.Liberty and Yadi will be faced with many outside variants that don’t want to see them together. From backstabbing, family drama and gunplay they will be pushed to the test. They can either rise up and fight for all that they can be together, or they can fold. Bike life isn’t easy and when you add rival clubs, angry women and scorn men to the life its nearly unbearable.Welcome to the world of the Burner Boyz.
I loved this damn book!! Honestly, it could've been called Liberty's Tale. This book flowed so well. I love how everything came together so nicely. By page 15, I was already invested. Yadi x Liberty will have a special place in my heart!
Yadi and Liberty were childhood friends who lost contact with each other. Eventually they cross path and a friendship is reborn. Leah and Lillian were just trifling. Sassy is probably one of the best mom books I’ve read in a while. Sassy made Liberty realized she had family with her and the Burner Boyz. Sassy still needs to fck Lillian up.
So freaking good! I loved, loved this book. Yadi was everything. Liberty and him together was everything. I loved the flow, the vibes all of it. I felt like I was watching a movie because I could visualize everything. Leah and Lillian were users to the core. They deserved everything they got.
This book was so good I want all the stories. Please. The OG’s, Shyne, Onyx, Coremega hell even Omar. Give me it all. Definitely going in my faves for the year. Can’t wait to dive in to UNO’s book next. Great read!
I like my introduction to this author. Being this is the first time reading her work. I enjoyed Yadi's tail. It breaks my heart knowing some kids actually have been brought in to foster home and they treat the child horrible. Sassy you're a God sent to Yadi and Liberty. Good read
This is definitely a must read!!! The messages in this storyline we all can relate to… The jealousy in this book was wild… smh! I’m glad everyone who deserve happiness received it!!! Now let me read about Uno, Lol
Man I'm so glad that Liberty wised up on her mother and her trifling a** sister got what she deserved how can someone be so cruel. I'm so glad Liberty had Yadi by her side cause lawd knows her family didn't give a sh*t about her she was just money to them.
Black bikers!!!! Ummm heck yeah sign me up. I came for the bikers and stayed for the excellent well written story. This was such an unique storyline, I was sucked in by the first chapter. Yadi and Liberty were EVERYTHING!! I love how he upgraded her whole lifestyle. But most importantly he gave her that unconditional love she craved and the family she deserved. Five stars!!!
This was my first read from this author, and overall, it was a decent, engaging read.
What stood out most to me was Liberty. My heart really went out to her and everything she was dealing with when it came to her family. It was frustrating at times because I wanted her to stand up for herself and find her voice, but at the same time, it made sense. She was a broken girl just wanting love from the people who were hurting her.
Yadi also ended up being a highlight for me. He had me side-eyeing him heavy in the beginning with how he came at Liberty, but he definitely redeemed himself. I really liked how he made it his mission to lighten her load and give her space to breathe.
There’s also a lot going on drama-wise (no drama between the couple), which kept things interesting and had me looking sideways at quite a few characters.
That said, the book did feel a bit juvenile at times and a little all over the place. The execution wasn’t as smooth as it could’ve been, and by the end, things started to feel rushed and somewhat sloppy. The editing and overall flow could’ve used more polish, which took me out of the story a bit.
But even with those issues, I was still engaged and invested enough to finish. I also enjoy a good motorcycle series, so I’m curious enough to continue with book two (especially since it’s a different author). I’m interested to see how the world building continues
yadi + Liberty sitting in the tree.. or on the bike, in this case 🙃
First off, I love a good bike gang story. Secondly, Yadi is everything!! He’s got that rough demeanor and the whole bad boy thing going on but he is a gentle thug. He went from humble beginnings to being that dude in the streets Like, I lost count of how many times I said, “aww” during the book. He was the sweetest and the knight and shining armor that Liberty needed. I love Liberty! I didn’t like the way that her family treated her but she was so determined and motivated to be better that I couldn’t help but hope that she proved them wrong. And sis deserves all the happiness that she received! 🥰
This book was nothing short of amazing, I literally read it so fast but as I inched closer to the ending I started to read slowly. I did not want it to end. The biker family was all about loyalty. They were rough but one thing that mattered was keeping the family straight. The drama was off the charts and definitely kept me eager for more. I absolutely loved this book and I am looking forward to UNO’s story. Awesome job!
I didn't know much about biker gangs prior to this read, but this was so enjoyable! I felt for Yadi as he lived life in a fog, in the youth home. Thank God for Sassy, who rescued him from that environment, and gave him the love, support and encouragement he needed to thrive. The Burner Boyz became his extended family, and he began to start to feel whole again. Poor Liberty! This sweet, sweet girl really went through it! That damn family of hers was pure trash!! 😈 Especially that Leah! Ughh… she made me so angry with all that ish she put Liberty through, for her own selfish reasons!! Yadi and Liberty reconnecting was a saving grace for them both! Yadi had in Liberty, the peace and love that he craved. Liberty held her head up high, and worked her ass off to become something; even after all that she had endured in her young life. Yadi was determined to remove her from her situation, and show her that she deserved so much more. The chemistry and love that Yadi and Liberty shared was beautiful! Cannot wait to learn more about the other guys! On to Uno's Tale. Great read! 👍👍👍
I really enjoyed this book. Two childhood friends with the same similarities become separated only to reconnect years later. I loved that Liberty was ambitious and caring. Her home life wasn't perfect but she did what she needed to do. It was sad that those she considered family weren't as loving as she wanted them to be when it came to her. But she had Yadi in her corner. Her first protector who would give her the world and handle those that would think about harming her. What I loved about Yadi was that he was loving, caring and loyal. He definitely proved that when Leah and Lillian really showed Liberty that she meant nothing to them. Leah got exactly what she deserved being the lying, sneaky and selfish person she was. The Burner Boyz are definitely a crew that will have your back to the end. Looking forward to reading Uno's story and maybe Onyx down the line.
As always Dominique never disappoints me. Yadi is everything!!!! He's a thug but he's also loyal, loving, caring, and everything else a woman needs and wants. I love the fact that although ppl have bad assumptions about the Burner Boyz, we get to see the good and true side of them....family and loyalty. My heart def went out to Liberty, but even with everything she had going on and people doing her wrong, she still managed to be a good person and never changed up. I'm happy Yadi came riding back into her life because she def needed that and needed to cut loose her dead weight family. I'm hoping that there will be some spin offs from the other characters because I got somethings I need to know.lol Dominique has me ready to go ride off to Goode City and find me a Burner Boy.lol
If Sassy wouldn't adopted Yadi, he still would be an orphan. I hate to say it if wasn't for Yadi ghosting Leah a**, he wouldn't have found out Liberty even though she said she didn't have a sister. Miccal went out of town for business, Liberty reconnected with middle and high school crush. Fredo just mad because she didn't want to talk to his skinny jean wearing self. Sassy and Pope are cool people. Rashad brought that s** on his self but he's going to leave his sister and her kid out there struggling. Lillian know she was wrong for using Liberty. Leah got what she deserved, a pedophile father and she was chasing the wrong bag. Armani talk to d@#n much. Omarr got caught up. What Nyasia come back for too kick it with her brothers and to find Rashad. Liberty and Yadi just wanted to be loved and belong to a family.
This was such a perfect introduction to this biker series(I surely do hope it will continue with the other members such as Pope, Onyx, Comerga)…. In a nutshell, this was a story about loneliness, rekindle, love, hate, jealousy, siblings and family. You had it all! But what was the best part, was how relatable Liberty felt. Her struggles, tribulations and pain were so real while Yadero was simply bae. Now I am still debating on reading UNO’s tale because the writing style of the author is very different; don’t know yet. Also Uno was not too attractive or out there in Yadero’s (unless they go to Sassy) and at least, if he was paired with Shyne, I would have read it in a heartbeat but, a brand new person again to be introduced is tricky. In any case we will see….
This book was good. I loved Yadi, down to the name the author gave him Yadero😍 I love the way he stepped rite up for Liberty from the first time he realized who she was. My favorite thing was the YES day. And I love how she wasn’t going crazy but just wanted to get stuff from target and forever 21. She was a regular girl and I love that he was still cool with that. I loved how life got good for him fast while the author still took the time to tell us of his bad start to life. Sassi was my favorite character in the book and when she was about to get liberty’s mom and sister together I was here for it. Over all this book was a great read and I would recommend it. Happy reading
I think this is my first book by Ms. Thomas, but will definitely be checking out more.
It took a minute for me to get into the flow, but once I got all the pieces together there was a really good love story. I'm a foster mom so I can't wait to get to the bottom of Sassy & Pope's situationship - I have a feeling it's going to be good and deep, and hopefully very grown & sexy. 🤞🏽🔥 Liberty's story tore me up. My heart aches for kids like her. I try to be a Sassy in a cesspool full of Lillians. 🥺💪🏾🖤
I was a little worried about Yadi at first, but he was actually so loyal and loving. He's mother was the real MVP! 🏆💕 True guardian angel. 😇
The reviews have me looking forward to the rest of the series! 🤩 Hopefully, they'll keep coming without long breaks. 🤞🏽😭🤧
Yadi went through it as a childhood but Sassy was his saving grace. Liberty had a similar situation with no one to save her. Then her and Yadi meet each other in middle school and build a connection. Then years later reconnect. Nothing about Liberty had changed but Yadi gained a family. Now Liberty I understand she went through traumatic events but she was way too soft and a cry baby. Naive at its finest. I was waiting on the moment she dried her tears and lay hands on some ppl. But it only happened once and she right back to be ing a crybaby. I needed her to toughen up. But overall good read
It's been awhile since I read from this author but I most definitely enjoyed this story. It had it's funny parts as well has emotional aspects. I think the split of Yadi and Liberty was needed because he needed to have his life already established because sometimes when we stay with someone from a young age you can hurt them more than you intend to. I couldn't wait for Liberty to beat up Leah but she got what was coming to her. Now I liked that Liberty didn't let how she was treated change her character, that can be hard. Them together is perfect though especially with the aspect of his mother. Really great story. Can't wait for their cameo in the next tale!!
The bond between Yadi and Liberty was so genuine that when they were able to pick up where they left off (except for when Liberty stumbled upon the crew in the alley.) Loved how Sassy took care of Yadi and later Uno(about to read his story),and later they came to be Liberty’s support. I’m surprised that Lillian took action against her husband, considering how she treated Liberty. Leah must have a mental issue,no way could a person be so toxic,I was disappointed that someone of Yadi’s character got sucked in by her. Armani and Omarr kept me 😂, I love that he was getting an education.Shyne and Onxy there’s something there🙆🏽♀️. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ even with a few typos.
When I tell you that this book did not come to play believe me. The Burner Boyz aren’t posers and they really are about the gangster life and Yadi is the craziest of them all!!
A thug in love is such a beautiful thing and Dominique was able to portray that so perfectly with Yadi and Liberty.
Just a heads up, while the romance was definitely sweet and soft the drama in this book is wild! So be prepared to be on an emotional roller coaster once a side character has entered the chat.
Overall this was a super fun read and I'm excited to continue the series.
If like me, this has been on your TBRL, you may as well, go ahead and start reading.
Book one introduces Yadi, his adopted brother Uno and and adopted mom, Sassy. you're gonna love her, she got her name honest! Burna Boyz are their family.
Yadi reconnects with his childhood friend from Foster care, Liberty. the only thing liberated about her is her name. Shorty is the definition of a hard knocks next life.
“Maybe like Target and Forever 21,” she suggested softly.
Yadi walked up on her and nixed the bottom of her chin playfully.
“You didn’t have a limit in here but in there you can really go dumb. We’ll buy that 🐝out, let’s go,” he said making her laugh.
Dom never does any wrong. Yadi can get this body you hear me 😛😂😂. Anyway I was hooked from the first page to the last. Yadi and Liberty complemented each other so well, she needed him as much as he needed her. Leah and Lillian were a hot mess. Though Liberty was surrounded by snakes she was definitely deserving of her rainbow and I’m glad how things ended for her. This book has many underlying messages that ring true. I’m looking forward to Uno’s tale.
Wow, I really enjoyed Yadi and Liberty’s story. They had a great connection and sizzling chemistry. They cared deeply for each other and it was evident. Yadi was definitely a savage, but Liberty was his love. This story was written perfectly and definitely held my attention. I highly recommend this book. Great job, Dominique Thomas!
Next up is UNO’s Tale by Charae Lewis and I look forward to reading it. I hope the ladies will write about the other Burner Boyz because they definitely have stories to tell.
This was a different read from what I usually get from this author, but nonetheless it was good. I felt like she was holding back in this story on revealing so much from Yadi's life. I feel like Sassy appearing out of thin air and his unknown father keeps the readers looking for closure. I almost feel like her comment of him having royal blood is a family secret. I may be wrong but is his mom her sister or was it her be child. It was a good book that leaves you wondering.
While this story was pretty good it was quite irritating as well. I feel like the author didn't have to describe every outfit for every person in every scene. It just seems that while Liberty was not supposed to be materialistic, always describing what someone was wearing had the opposite feel in my opinion. Also I wish she would have kept Leah's character alive, it would have been more effective for her to watch Liberty glow up. She kind of got the easy way out. Other than that I absolutely loved all the characters. Great job.
What a really good story, with some really heartfelt moments. The writer gives us just enough of the bad boy,to not be so over the top that you just stand back and wonder. The main cast characters are not likable but the are relateable. There are of course some crazy circling around but the writer gives us enough to wet our appetites and ramp up the curiosity. I like the fact that the writer doesn't waste time giving us the other woman angst. This story is written and fleshed out very well and written with enjoyment in mind.
