Can they stay sane in an insane world? Do they even want to?
Jared They made it out of the rubble alive. Mostly. The survivors had lost everything in the disaster. All of it destroyed in one horrific blink of an eye. They were going to have to regroup somewhere and heal, gather more supplies. Cheyenne Mountain, and the answers it would hopefully bring, could wait a little longer. Sten's place represented security and promised them a place to recoup some of their losses, but getting there could cost them their lives. Especially since danger was multiplying at every turn.
At least they were still together...for now.
Kate When Kate went to her favorite coffee shop to finish up a work project, she hadn't expected the world to end. She hadn't expected to commit felonies left and right. She hadn't expected to lose her entire family. She hadn't expected Storm.
Joining up with some of the soldiers seemed like the best option to accomplish her personal mission. Nashville was falling and needed their support, and she could tag along and help raise the body count. She wished she knew if the sacrifices she had made would be worth it in the end.
This is the continuing story of a family, and a group of friends, struggling against the odds to survive a terrifying apocalypse, and to keep their humanity in the process. Sometimes they don't...
A. L. Masters lives in rural America. She studied business and enjoys cooking, hiking, and photography. When she's not dealing with more mundane matters, she can be found hidden away with her laptop and a mug of coffee. She writes apocalyptic stories to satisfy her craving for adventure and disaster (without the risk of death).
This series has been one of the best I’ve read in quite awhile, and I average 125 books read per year. The characters are interesting and the storyline is rich with nonstop action. Caution: you will lose sleep reading.
Do not leave us hanging, an excellent series, we need to finish it. Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2021 I did not like the Kate chapters and honestly I skipped through them. I get that Jared is trying to find his sister Kate but I feel like the introduction to her in the third book was lame. We can surmise she has been through all the same things Jared and Cream Corn have. It is that kind of world now, mutants are the hunters of the humans. I wanted to read more about the central characters introduced in the first two books. Still this author is top notch with her writing and I will be waiting for book 4 most ardently.
Been quite awhile since I have found a well written EOW (End of World) book or series - was a long wait, but worth it. A.L. Masters has risen right up into my Top 5 authors, joining Lee Child, John Sandford, Robert Parker and Dennis Lehane (he edged out Jonathan Kellerman!). Truly awesome & creative plague story with well developed characters for the reader to root for. My only critique would be that the author needs a proofreader (I volunteer!) to catch the typos and grammatical errors, as they can be a bit distracting. Looking forward to the 4th book and more.
Just finished up this one and will be starting the 4th now. Each one is equally as good as the next. I have pretty much read them in one shot. Don't want to give spoilers, but I love, love the newly introduced female character! She is badazz and she is exactly like I imagine myself would be. Im not sure I have liked female characters as much as in this series. I am usually irritated at the portrayals of them, like we all just stand around scared and weak lol Loving it A.L. Masters!! Thank you!!
It just keeps getting better! My whole family is hooked on this series. The characters feel like real people you know, and they address challenges in believable ways- including their mistakes. I've read * a lot * of similar books, and so have my teenagers, and we all agree this will be our first recommendation in the genre.
The series continues with multiple POV's and a bit of a choppy feel. That said, I am very much enjoying the ride so far. The unique approach and fabulous characters (I Really Really want Stewart's POV!) have the combined effect of a truly interesting series. I am moving on to the next with anticipation. -ncv
I liked this story. Actually some funny witty moments. Of course like every book or movie these days it’s unrealistic but stupid lol a good fast paced read.
I’ve seen some negative comments but I really like these stories. Glad I didn’t listen to the naysayers! Listening on audible and reading when I have a moment!
Loved this series. Would recommend to anyone who likes the main characters mobile, have a sense of loyalty, action, light love interest, and some surprises.
I kind of hate the "detour" of this book from the main storyline but I'm also super glad for it. I really enjoyed meeting Kate and Storm, not to mention Red and getting to know Sven and his crew better!
