Rate this book
Brayden and his girlfriend, Kylee, decide to move into the cabin that he inherited from his recently deceased aunt. However, the couple soon discovers that pure evil lives in this house. Brayden’s sleep paralysis now seems too realistic and the spirits become torturous. Man where do I start?! The Howling Of The Dead was by far the best surprise novel of 2021 for me! Having never read Jensen before I was unprepared for her incredible writing style. I found myself lost is this story.

Two young "us against the world " lovers take the leap and leave thier lives in Denver, for a new start in a secluded mountain cabin in Utah. Everything starts right out of a hallmark Christmas movie, until....aunt Jackie....

I would put this book in the mix with Darcy Coates' haunted house prowess.

An incredibly fun read that mashed the gas in chapter one, and didn't let up until the final page.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I received this book from the author, in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a fun experience. It was easy to follow, nothing too over complicated and it leaned into the tropes decently well. My only major gripe with this book, is that it introduced the twist and resolution way too late into it. If this had been more proportionately paced with some minor details not needing to be there, this book would’ve been a 5 star for me. Both main characters Kylee and Brayden had enough development to flesh them out as 3D human beings and that’s what you can honestly expect from such a short book / novella. Over all, this is a great book to read after work or on weekends when you’re looking for a quick read. I give this book 4 out 5 stars.

Thank you for the book, Stephanie!

A short, quick, creepy read. Clearly some personal influences in the characters which added to the realism and the horror. Unique tone of voice as the book is written in the present tense. Also the sex scenes are almost as detailed as the gore. Recommended if you like a quick, fun, twisted scare.

Caveat: I've met Stephanie and hung out at metal shows. She knows her metal!
