Curtis Wallace is a Marine Raider, Special Ops medic. He lost his first love to suicide when he was in high school. He managed to recover from the loss and go on to achieve many of his life goals as a Marine. He has a close band of brothers on his team and at thirty-two years old he should be feeling like he is in his prime, but something is missing. He had thought he would be married and have a couple of kids by this age. As his fellow teammates have fallen in love and began their families, that empty feeling has only grown. Then while doing a routine errand, he finds her. The one destiny has meant for him to find.

Emma Louise Weston is never going to date again. She is over being rejected for her size and after the trauma in her past, it’s just not worth the effort. She has worked so hard to regain her confidence, control her anxiety, and get back out into the world again, only to be passed over for her size. She tries to be healthy, but having health problems she can’t control have made it difficult for her to maintain a weight the world finds acceptable. Emma decides she is going to focus on her job and her volunteer work and forget finding Prince Charming. He doesn’t exist. That is until she signs up for a special survival training course. In an effort to be prepared for it, Emma joins a new gym and hires a personal trainer. This decision will throw Emma into Wallace’s path and the sparks fly from the moment they meet.

However, not everyone is delighted for them to be together and find happiness. An evil force is at work to tear them apart. When Emma’s past comes back to get revenge, she is taken by force. Can Wallace find Emma and save her in time? Or will someone from her past get the vengeance they crave. Only time will tell if they can find their happily ever after that destiny has laid at their feet.

I love this series.
Women find their heroes through ways they never thought possible. This is Emma's story.
Emma has struggled to put her past behind her and now she has to find it in herself to face her fear and move on.
Wallace lost the one true friend and the girl he just realized he loved in high school. He had always been there for her, but the bullies won. Now he is living doug what he loves. Being a Marine.
Wallace is partnered with Emma. He first noticed her at the grocery store. Then he got to be her trainer for a day. Now he is helping her with the survival training. He is also falling for her.
Emma gave up finding a man. That is until she met Wallace. Now they are together and she is going to make it through this with him. That is until her worst nightmare comes true. Now she has to survive this first.
Wallace knows something is wrong. Emma is missing. He calls Hawk who calls Tex. They get some answers they aren't liking. Now to put their training to use.

I don't usually write critical reviews, but this one just has to be written. The ONLY reason I spent the time to read this book is because of the story. The story line is good...I probably connected with Emma, the heroine, due to her struggle with weight and health issues.

HOWEVER, the typos, grammatical errors, and poor present-tense writing made for an arduous, slogging through mud read. I don't know who Ms. Rush's editor is, but the person needs to be fired! As an English major, I'd love to get my hands on a paper manuscript and a red pen. How any author can allow a book in such poor condition editorially to be released is beyond me. I checked to see where this was in her line of books and was shocked to see that it was the fourth in the series. A first book I can barely accept in this condition. A fourth??? I won't be going back to read the previous ones.

Great connections

Wallace and Emma are a sweet couple. They both had baggage that has impacted their decisions and emotions as adults. Their romance is sweet and they take the time to build a foundation. I appreciated the openness about self doubt and society criticism that Emma shared on size and beauty. The action and drama part through me as I was not expecting that connection. I do wish there was more about the missing person. The ending/lead into the next story sounds promising as well!

Fantastic

Everything about this book is perfect. The characters were outstanding and only one snarky female and she wasn't even a main character. I loved it. Emma has every single illness I have except for one additional one I have. Amazing how refreshing to read a story based on such Circumstances. everything scenario was totally realistic and well thought out. Chris to the author.

I think they made a really get great couple. The author did an amazing job with putting these two characters together. Great read! I recommend this book to all romance readers.

I struggled through to chaper 11 but I couldn't read any more, 3rd person books do not appeal. This is the 4th book in the series and I am not sure if I should go back and read book 1. Disappointed as I usually enjoy Authors who write in Susan Stoker's world.

This is probably my favorite. I enjoy the fact that the team is always there for one another. Emma and Curtis were great together. Emma always had a positive attitude. She blossomed even more with the help of Curtis and his team members.

Awkward

This book was written in 3rd person POV and that made it sound very robotic and awkward. There were also some editing issues and there wasn’t much heat in the story.

I have loved all of your books that I have read so far concerning the Special Forces but I am confused. When I finished reading Emma you said to go to the next one which is #5- Abigail, but I have not been able to locate it. If it isn't finished yet you should have mentioned that and let folks know when to expect it out. Please explain?

I loved Wallace and Emma's story! Very entertaining intresting characters and a good storyline! Yes there were some errors but for me they didn't distract from the story.
