As an Award Winning and International Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo Best Selling Author, I have always been an avid reader. I joke that I "cut my romance teeth" on the old historical romance books. I’ve written as a hobby for over 30 years. In 2014, I finally gave in to the characters in my head pleading for their story to be told. Thus, Emma's Home was created.

My first novel, Emma's Home became an Amazon Best Seller in 3 categories within the first month of publishing. Its success was followed by the rest of the Fairfield Series and then led into the Love's Series. From there I have continued with the romantic suspense Alvarez Security Series and now the Saints Protection & Investigation Series.

My books are filled with sweet romance and hot sex; mystery, suspense, real life characters and situations. My heroes are alphas, take charge men who love the strong, independent women they fall in love with.
I worked as a counselor in a high school and have been involved in education for the past 30 years. I recently retired and now can spend more time devoted to my writing.

I have been married to a wonderfully patient man for 35 years and have 2 adult, very supportive daughters.
When writing, my dog or one of my cats will usually be found in my lap!

Once again Maryann has wrote an emotional read in this wonderful series about the men and women of Baytown and its surrounding areas who left to join various branches of the military wanting an escape from their small town only to realise that it is home to them all and a refuge for many of their fellow military who have no home to return to. In this latest instalment we get the story of Wyatt Newman, the Police Chief of Manteague he is a man who has returned to the town he grew up in and where he has finally outgrown the shame of growing up poor When new neighbour Milly attracts his attention he is all and soon they are starting a relationship but what will happen when he learns of her past as America's sweetheart Camilla a actress whose world was shattered in an on screen accident that left her with scars. Can he forgive her for withholding information and can she finally find peace You will have to read to see. We also get a tantalising glimpse of the next book in this series and an entire new series.

Once again, this talented author delivers another touching story in her Baytown Boys series.
A series about men and women who served their country and upon their return either went back to Baytown or one of the surrounding towns. A town that was either their original hometown, or one in which they were invited by their fellow teammates. All now serving their country in a different way. This time the story belongs to Wyatt Newman, the Police Chief of Manteague. The town he grew up in, and the one he devotes his time to protect and help thrive.
His mysterious new neighbor is Millie Addair. A woman that keeps to herself but one he wants to get to know.
As Millie begins to trust Wyatt, she reveals her scars. Feelings between them develop, but she’s still keeping secrets. What happens when the “real” Millie is revealed? Will Wyatt feel betrayed?
This was another engaging story with complex, likable characters and a little mystery thrown in.
It’s a story about how life sometimes throws us curveballs that at first seem devastating but in the long run are a blessing. It’s a story about acceptance and second chances in life and love.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Protecting Her Heart is the newest Baytown book.
This book starts out a little different then most Baytown books, Camilla is an actress who suffers from an accident on set wanting peace to recover she rents a house in Baytown. Wyatt is the Chief of Police in Manteague a neighborhood town of Baytown, he’s lived there his whole life minus his military time, his family was poor but loving and this gives him a heart for his job.
He’s surprised to find someone has rented the house next to his and a little curious about the woman hiding behind the door.
Their journey is so sweet starting as friends I kept turning the page watching Camilla gain her confidence.
Though all secrets can’t stay hidden for long and neither can Camilla.
This book is a little less suspense then Maryann’s normal and we get a little introduction into her new series it’s still a great read!

I love Protecting Her Heart!
When the house next door is rented out, Manteague Chief of police Wyatt Newman stops by just to be neighborly but he is intrigued by the seemingly shy and mysterious woman living there.

After a horrific accident on the set of her most recent movie, Millie is hiding away from the press and renting a home on the eastern shore of Virginia.

“When I look at you, I see beauty. Nothing but beauty. You have scars, but you’re not scarred to me.”

Wyatt has to have lots of patience to get Millie to open up and trust him but she is not ready to give up all her secrets.
This Baytown standalone story is a great blend of slow burn romance with a bit of danger and suspense.

Fame is romanticized, but not what we’d hoped for. Normal is perfect to those souls who are willing to seek it.

Camilla Gannon is America’s sweetheart. She works hard and gives the studio, her director and her fans everything they want out of her. Until the day an unfortunate accident befalls her. From that point on, she craved privacy and solitude, or so she thought.

Police Chief, Wyatt Newman was happy with his small town. He brought many things to his town and more importantly. His love, care and concern of all citizens is has way of life. He wasn’t searching for fame or recognition, in fact, he hated being recognized for his deeds instead of the man he was. He didn’t need to be in the limelight.

Millie and Wyatt are brought together as friends first. His friendship and caring grabbed Millie’s attention. But they were from two different walks of life, and Wyatt had no clue!

An advanced copy of this book was given to me in return for an honest review. My honest review gives a well deserved five stars! Loved the characters, the setting and the premise of the story and I will re-read it numerous times

Wyatt Newman couldn’t leave the tiny town he grew up in fast enough. As a child, Wyatt had very little. He worked to help out the family, but enlisted in the military as soon as he graduated high school. After serving several years and deployments, Wyatt returned to the peaceful life he tried so hard to escape. Wyatt worked hard to become the Chief of Police in his home town on the Eastern shore of Virginia.

Camilla Gannon (aka Millie Adair) lives a life of luxury as a successful actress. After an accident on the set of her latest movie, she was placed in a private hospital as the fans and paparazzi were relentless. To further recuperate and decide what she wanted to do with the rest of her life, Millie escaped to a tiny town on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Little did she know that her next door neighbor was the Chief of Police and she may one day need his services—among other things.

Millie and Wyatt are so different, yet alike. Wyatt is so kind and patient with Millie. He lets her “tell her story” at her own pace. He never pushes, but lets her know he’s there for her. He’s sensitive, fierce, loving, supportive, and a family man. He thinks he’s found “the one”, but patiently waits until Millie comes around. Millie has her own demons to fight, but Wyatt just lets her be herself. Millie soon realizes that Wyatt may be all she’s ever needed, but didn’t know she did. When trouble comes to town, Wyatt and his friends and family rally around Millie to ensure her safety. But they are caught off guard...Will Wyatt be able to save Millie before it’s too late?

Amazing story with amazing characters. Maryann Jordan does it again. I love how the Baytown crew aided in the rescue. I loved that Wyatt was patient and let Millie tell her story when she felt she could trust him. I also liked that Millie wasn’t a diva and a whiner, as many Hollywood types tend to be. I highly recommend this novel. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Protecting Her Heart is the story of Wyatt and Millie. We have met Wyatt in previous Baytown stories because he is the police chief of a neighboring town and part of the leadership group of local law enforcement. Millie is a successful actress who had a horrific accident at the beginning of the story and needs to go somewhere quiet so that she can rest and recover out of the spotlight. She is Wyatt's neighbor and the two begin to forge a friendship that they both value very much. Millie can't believe that Wyatt doesn't ask more about her life and situation. He seems content to wait her out to see what she tells him and when she becomes comfortable enough to do it. Wyatt's patience and support is truly something that Mille appreciates very quickly. It is those very traits that begins to endear him to her and makes her comfortable enough to be able to open up to him. Their strong bond of friendship, though they are both strongly attracted to the other, is the solid foundation for their relationship. While there is strong friendship and an underlying sweetness to their relationship, it also has a strong heat factor with good chemistry!

This is a great story with both likeable and relatable characters. There is some mystery and of course, the opportunity to catch up with old friends. Wyatt's family and friends show Millie an acceptance and love that she isn't used to and hasn't received in many years. This is a HUGE factor in helping her to heal. Once I started this story it was tough to put down. Even with out of town guests at home, I found myself slipping away to sneak in a bit more reading!

One of the reasons that I loved the story was the sense of community. Baytown has always been a place with strong community ties and friendship. This story is no exception. I loved the addition of Ryan Coates, the head of the Virginia Marine Police, and seeing him at the end of the book with his young children and no partner is exciting because we hear he is going to be getting his story next! I also loved how Maryann slipped in a tie for LSI SoCal! Can't wait to see that new series take off too! I wonder if Leo will show up in that one?? Great addition to Baytown and not one to be missed!

Wyatt has overcome a difficult childhood to become the respected Chief of Police in his small coastal town. Millie lived a life of luxury until tragedy sent her running to hide as Wyatt's neighbor. Left with scars, both internal and external, Millie finds it difficult to face life, let alone the public. But Wyatt's calm patience allows her to find her footing until her past comes calling.
These two characters are lovely together. Wyatt's patience is swoon worthy. Even when he's questioning everything they had together, he makes you want to give him a giant hug and assure him everything will work out all right. Another winner from Maryann Jordan.

I enjoyed this book a lot. There were a few things that were kind of weird to me throughout it, but overall it was a really great read.
Camilla is an actress who suffers from an accident on set of a movie she's been working on. After her accident, she wants to stay out of the spotlight to recover, so she rents a house in Baytown. Wyatt is the Chief of Police in Manteague a neighborhood town of Baytown, he was born and raised there, left for the military and came back to the sweet little town that's always been home. Growing up, his family was poor and Wyatt helped out with having a job and giving money to his parents and helping care for his siblings, so he's always been a protector and a provider.

Wyatt is surprised to find someone has rented the house next to his and a little curious about the woman hiding behind the door when he stops by to introduce himself. Their journey is so sweet and I really loved how Wyatt was so patient with Millie and never pushed her to talk about her injuries or why she was in Baytown. They truly had a beautiful friendship that turned into a relationship.

I also loved seeing how Millie grew throughout the book and more and more came to realize that her scars didn't define who she was as a person. It was beautiful to see her 'heal' throughout the book and become a strong woman again. Her trust in Wyatt was so nice to see since she easily didn't trust many people either.

Millie was open and honest with Wyatt throughout the whole book and on her own terms she told him more and more about her past. I think the only thing that bothered me in this book was Millie wanting to tell Wyatt who she really was to be open and honest with him about that but he pushed it off and said 'we can talk about it tomorrow' and when tomorrow came, shit hit the fan and he found out who she really was and got mad at HER? Like, ok seriously? She wanted to tell you last night but you're the one who told her to wait.. then he ghosted her for 2 days and made her feel even worse? Um, no sorry. Then to top it all off, he storms over to her house 2 days after ghosting her, is a dick to her, leaves, and then goes back and demands for her to come stay at his house so he can 'protect' her and then they 'make up' and have sex? Like, girlfriend, he literally blamed it all on you when you wanted to tell him and he pushed it off for another time. That was the only part of this book that really pissed me off. Other than that, this was a great read that I really enjoyed.

This is book sixteen in The Baytown Boy's Series and it is Wyatt and Millie Story and it is definitely a must read. Millie is a famous and well known actress but while filming a scene everything went wrong and she ended up seriously injured with a accident that could of killed her but instead she had multiple surgeries that left her with many scars and after being hounded by the paparazzi she decided.to go and Stay some where quiet and off the grid and he put it the limelight so that she could heal and decide what she wanted to do next with her life. Wyatt is the chief of police in Manteague Police Department and took his job seriously and even though he was always busy he still hoped that he would find that one woman to share his life with. When Wyatt met his next door neighbour Millie his attraction to her was instant but he realised that she seemed scared so he took his time to be there for her and be a friend until she felt safe around him. The more time that Wyatt and Millie spent together the stronger there feelings for each other grew but Millie had a big secret that she needed to tell Wyatt if she ever stood a chance of being with him which was something that she really wanted but she didn't know how he would react to what she had to tell him. Danger is just around the corner waiting to strike but will they all get out alive only time will tell what the outcome will be. I absolutely loved this book and Wyatt and Millie were so perfect together and I found myself hoping that they could sort everything out so that they could get the happy ending that they both deserved. This book took you in right from the start and kept your attention right throughout the whole book and it was so addictive and emotional that I couldn't put it down as it was a real page turner that kept you on the edge of your seat wondering what would happen next and I can't wait to read more books by Maryann Jordan who is an amazing author and writer and her books are definitely worth reading.

‘Military duty called them away to war zones, but after tours overseas, the group of friends found their way back home as men, seeking the peaceful little seaside town. Now, the band of brothers, together once more, work to provide a place for less fortunate veterans to call home.’

Protecting Her Heart is the sixteenth instalment in the Baytown Boys series by Maryann Jordan. Having seen these books pop up on social media and reading my GR friend’s reviews of the series I started collecting the books quite some time ago, but has taken me till now to finally plunge in.
Maryann Jordan’s Baytown Boys series is a 17-book romantic suspense saga that masterfully weaves together themes of camaraderie, love, healing, and personal redemption. Set in the fictional coastal town of Baytown, an idyllic seaside town, this series follows a close-knit group of former military friends who return home from service overseas and strive to create a supportive environment for themselves and less fortunate veterans. Ms. Jordan’s storytelling fuses small-town charm with emotional depth, making the setting a vivid and integral component of her storyline/s.
Each book centers around a different MC, exploring their unique struggles and romantic journeys. The veterans’ experiences and wartime scars are written with sensitivity and authenticity, adding an extra element of emotional resonance to the relationships and characters personal growth.
Ms. Jordan cleverly balances romance with mystery and suspense. From murder investigations to drug rings, each plot includes high-stakes elements that kept me engaged, all while the romantic tension sizzled. But, beyond the romance/s, intrigue, and action - the stories also show the healing power of friendship, love, and a supportive community - which created a warm and reassuring backdrop for the more intense elements.
This series is ideal for readers of contemporary romantic suspense with a military element and small-town setting.
Happy Reading…

A touching and heart-warming story from Maryann Jordan’s magical Baytown series.
Manteague Police Chief Wyatt Newman lives to protect and serve the town where he grew up, which is part of the beautiful Eastern Shore of Virginia. Devoted to both his family and all the residents, Wyatt is a protector to his core and acutely aware of his humble beginnings. Successful Hollywood actress Camilla (Millie) Gannon is seeking solitude and anonymity hidden away from prying eyes to help her recover from a life changing accident. Millie rents the isolated cabin next door to Wyatt and they begin a tentative friendship that slowly grows and evolves. Instantly drawn to Millie, Wyatt instinctively knows he must go slow and not push her for too much too soon and patiently allows Millie to become comfortable with their developing relationship. Millie starts to let down her guard and begins to learn to trust again with Wyatt’s gentle nurturing and the community’s simple acceptance of her.
Of course, there is some mystery and suspense to keep us on our toes and just as Millie is ready to reveal her secrets, her past resurfaces to threaten everything. She may have been keeping secrets but Wyatt reveals his own hang-ups by reacting badly to the truth (have to say I think Millie let him off lightly) and they must work out whether what they feel for each other is strong enough to survive.

Love these stories, the people and places in them, lots of old friends appear to add to the joy and delightful promises and hints of stories to come. This will definitely leave you with that special feeling of warmth and happiness supplied by Maryann Jordan.
I received an arc from the author and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Protecting Her Heart is another installment in the Baytown Boys series set on the eastern shore of Virginia. It's a love story between a broken Hollywood actress and a local Police Chief. Millie has relocated from Hollywood to escape the attention on her due to an accident that occurred on set. Wyatt is the local police chief who happens to be her next door neighbor. She gathers her courage and steps outside to watch the birds and happens to meet her handsome neighbor. The friendship that develops helps her come a long way in healing more than her external scars. The family and friends and co-workers of Wyatt all have their roles in this task. The town embraces her, no questions asked, which allows her to feel safe and to heal. Unfortunately, it doesn't last because trouble from her Hollywood days come in search of her. There was a point when I wanted to smack Wyatt on the head but with the help of his family and friends he got back on the right track. Again, Maryann Jordan's background in counseling lends such depth to this book. I always end up highlighting many quotes when I read one of Maryann Jordan's books. "Because that's what life is, sweetie. A series of things that we want, sometimes not what we need. We get some of our hopes and dreams to come true in life, and other times, we just have to live with disappointment at first. But if we have faith, we'll always find something good. Sometimes, the best things that happen are things we didn't even know we should hope for." "You were everything I didn't even know I needed. And you became everything I wanted." Loved this book and would definitely recommend it to all who love romantic suspense.

"Some books you read. Some books you enjoy. But some books just swallow you up, heart and soul." -author unknown. This story swallowed me up heart and soul. Baytown has almost a magical quality about it. This story in particular brings up that point. Millie's career ended with a horrible accident that could have killed her. She carries the scars as evidence that she has been through so much. She is hiding from her past. She soon finds a friend in Wyatt, the police chief of the small town of Manteague on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and her only neighbor. She can be her true self with him and while it wasn't love at first sight their relationship grew from friendship.

Wyatt is such a great hero; he is so patient with Millie as he senses that pushing her would send her running. He is careful with her and she responds to this as the friendship starts slowly but as he makes her feel more comfortable and protected things start to develop more. Wyatt is not without his flaws and when things hit the fan he reacts selfishly. Her secrets come out and Wyatt's friends and family step up to protect where he falters. Eventually, he realizes the mistakes he made and there is a happy ending.

I love this series. There is such a sense of community and giving back to it. The characters take you on a journey and don't let go, even at the end. Ms. Jordan writes wonderful stories that stay with me long after the last page is read.

Protecting her Heart is the story of Wyatt Newman, the police chief of Manteague, and Millie Adair, a temporary resident and neighbor of Wyatt's. He meets her, not knowing she is really America's Sweetheart, Camilla Gannon, a famous actress who suffered a terrible accident on a movie set due to an abusive director who puts her in danger, almost killing her.

Millie comes to Baytown to heal and to hide the scars that cover her body. She meets Wyatt and they are immediately drawn to each other. He knows she has secrets, but he never presses her to reveal them. And she slowly regains her confidence while blooming under Wyatt's friendship and attention. Their relationship is a slow burn and it was beautiful to see Millie begin to open up to him. But, just when she is ready to reveal all, something unexpected happens and Wyatt finds out who she really is. Can Wyatt accept all of her and is Mille brave enough to face the world?

This was an amazing book! I loved how everyone in Baytown accepted Millie with no questions asked. Protecting her Heart is so well-written, original, and fabulous storyline. As for Wyatt and Millie, I felt like I was right there with them as their relationship progressed. This story is the perfect example of how life can change in a moment and what may seem like a bad thing can turn into something beautiful. Congratulations, Maryann Jordan, on a 5+ star book!

When Wyatt, the police chief in a small town decides to greet his new neighbour that is renting the house next to him, he doesn’t expect to find THE woman. Millie is hiding and recuperating after an accident left her scarred and running away from the publicity. Now a recluse, she is afraid that someone will recognize her and alert the press but also afraid of how others will react to her scars. Wyatt is intrigued with Millie and slowly she comes out of her shell when she realizes that Wyatt doesn’t care about her scars, enjoying the budding friendship and hopefully more. As they get to know each other and the attraction builds, she needs to open up completely to him…or she may lose him.
A GREAT read with some steam, a bit of suspense and amazing characters. I wanted Wyatt for myself, patient, kind, sensitive, protective and a great man all around….the perfect book boyfriend. I LOVED the little to no drama and how their friendship grew, then the sparks, until finally the fireworks. The story flowed beautifully and the descriptions were spot on, making me feel like I was right in the middle of it all. I want to find these small towns and move right in, all the friendships, and sticking by each other no matter what…sign me up.

Beautiful!

Wyatt and Millie's story is so sweet! This was a little different story, there was not a big event that brought them together or somehow she ends up part of an investigation. Millie lands on the Eastern Shore to escape Hollywood after an accident. She meets Wyatt and they build a beautiful friendship. I loved their slow burn it was sweet and sexy. This was a good story and there is an edge of your seat, page turning, can't put it down, little mystery that works it's way into the story.
I always love the writing style of Maryann and how each one has such exquisite detail from the characters to the landscape you feel like you're right there. The heroine's are strong and smart and the hero's are always not just sexy, but sweet and thoughtful and swoon worthy! This is a great series and I love how each one is different but the core is the same, great characters, with an emphasis on love, with strong community looking out for one another. The American Legion aspect is one my favorite things about these books. I love how it is a significant part of the story. Another great read! Enjoy!

The beginning of this book showcases a terrible incident that causes our heroine to eventually relocate.

Millie Adair has no intention of leaving her rental home or interacting with any of the residents of the small town of Manteague on the eastern shore of Virginia.

Wyatt Newman the Chief of Police here in Manteague. He doesn't live in town, but on the outskirts with only one home other than his in close proximity. When he hears the property has been rented, he makes the decision to stop and say hello. He was surprised to find his neighbor seemed quite anxious at his presence.

Millie has much to overcome, and the quiet of the shore outside her rental home called to her. This is a big step for her as she heeds the call of the warmth and peacefulness of the early morning.

With baby steps, and encouragement from Wyatt, Millie slowly comes out of her shell.

I love the way this story develops, each step an accomplishment as the relationship between Wyatt and Millie grows into more.

There's going to be some interesting and scary things that challenge these two.

I really can't wait for the next book in this series, I love the characters so much!

I love her Baytown Boys series

Sometimes men need a swift kick in the butt LOL. Wyatt the Police Chief has a new mysterious neighbor. Little does he know she's his one.
Millie has a lot of healing to do and not just physical but emotionally. Her first encounter with Wyatt was her little walk on the beach leading to Wyatt inviting her for coffee. As much as he wanted to ask a slew of questions he bit his tongue. Little by little trust was built between them and Millie started opening up to him. Yes they were falling for each other.
The one thing Millie hasn't done was tell Wyatt who she was.
When Millie found her directors dead body on her beach that's when everything surfaced. When Wyatt found out you can imagined how he felt betrayed. This my earlier statement "sometimes men need a swift kick in the butt.". If he would have stopped and really listened he would have realized she was truly hidding from the media and anyone else wanting to sensationalized her horror for money.
I did enjoy Wyatt's book and can't wait to get my hands on Ryan's story A Hero's chance when it released April 19,

Wyatt and Millie

This is a great read! I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish this one. Wyatt is Chief of Police for the small town of Manteague on the Eastern Shore. He grew up poor and is determined to protect his town. He just got a new neighbor on his isolated shore. Millie, aka Camilla Gannon, a movie actress, is hiding and heeling from a devastating accident while filming a blockbuster film. She is renting a small home in a tiny town far from the lights and paparazzi of California. Wyatt offers Millie coffee when he finds her on the shore by his deck. He’s intrigued by the beauty hidden by hoodies and they continue meeting each morning as she gradually relaxes and they get to know each other. He doesn’t recognize her and she keeps her identity secret as she gets to know him and the citizens of Manteague. Of course I was just waiting for the other shoe to drop but I loved the romance between Wyatt and Millie. Wyatt is determined to keep Millie safe but will he keep Camilla safe too? I wanted to knock Wyatt in the head quite a few times and I’m sure you will too, but he is a man after all. Dive into this one and enjoy.

Wyatt and millie

I forget how many cross overs we get with this author it's great because it's sad when a good series ends, but with this author they show up everywhere set in same world.

I have read all Lighthouse series so I have read Leo's story (with natalie) back in Oct 2023, loved that series sheriff Mitch was in that series as FBI agent before he returned home. (So many links) that's what lead me to this series (wanted to see where are favourite FBI guy went)

About this author.
I must admit lighthouse is my favourite security series, it was beautiful the storyline with the grandfather and the keepers, then they branch out so we get more in different places.

I also loved the saints series with the names very beautiful. This series is about a group of young boys a few years apart all served and come home to each other then kind of adopted all ex military they know making them family. Each book always a love story.
I do enjoy this author, one book left to go.

This book was wyatts journey we meet Millie his love interest and her ex bodyguard leo in this one leo joins lighthouse after she leaves Hollywood.

wonderful

Millie is recovering from a horrific accident that has left her severely scarred, as an actress she has always had to take care of her looks so this is especially traumatic and she is searching for peace and quiet. She has a house hired for her by an old friend who is also her lawyer and it is incidentally next door to Wyatt the local Chief of Police. They meet up one morning and gradually become friends which develops into the beginning of a relationship and Millie discovers the courage to begin to go out and about in the area. Unfortunately the people who caused her accident are determined to stop her suing them and are after her. This causes all sorts of problems when Millie’s identity is revealed between her and Wyatt as he comes from a poor background and struggles to cope with her fame and wealth .
This story is beautifully written with tenderness and sensitivity. I loved it.

Protecting Her Heart {Baytown Boys #16) - 4 Stars
Millie Adair is Chief Wyatt's new neighbor with a hidden past.
Camilla Gannon now known as "Millie Adair" was once "America's Sweetheart" now she's escaping to Baytown to start her life over and heal her heart after a tragic accident. Once in Baytown Millie finds resolve in the comfort of Chief Wyatt his friendship, patience, and will not to push Millie away stole the book for me and the small community of Wyatt's friends and family in Baytown added such a family aspect to the town which I loved. I gave 4 stars for me the ending could have made more sense I didn't feel the true killer had much of a premise for why he did it, it seemed to come out of the blue in order to wrap things up however, I still very much recommend Protecting Her Heart!
Sweet feelings, suspense and a happy ending is what Maryann Jordan delivers wonderfully in Protecting her Heart I'm officially a Baytown Boy's fan!

Protecting Her Heart was another AMAZING read by Maryann Jordan and is the latest installment to her Baytown Boys series. This time we get Wyatt Newman, the Police Chief of Manteague, story and he is swoon worthy. Wyatt grew up in the small town and life was not easy for him and his family. Like the other Baytown Boys, Wyatt left home and served in the military and came home to serve his town. Wyatt’s new neighbor is Millie Adair and her story is heartbreaking but seeing her character develop her strength was inspiring. Wyatt and Millie don’t have insta love but instead develop a friendship that turns into more. Eventually Millie’s past catches up to her and Wyatt has to decide if he can accept who Millie used to be. I loved their story, the town and Wyatt’s family. Hopefully will will see his brothers story soon. I received an authors copy and I have left an honest review.

Another wonderful book by Maryann Jordan in the Baytown Boys books. Wyatt is the Chief of Police and was seen in previous books. He grew up very poor. Millie Adair comes from a life of privileged background. Millie is hiding that she is actually Camilla Gannon a famous actress who suffered a tragic accident on set and has numerous scars. She just wants to hide and heal from the paparazzi. Wyatt turns out to be her next door neighbor and strikes up a friendship with her which slowly starts to turn into something more. He never brings up her scars. He slowly starts to introduce her to the town never realizing who she is and not wanting to bring up her past. She starts to love all the people of the small town. She has been alone for along time. Of course there is drama and HEA. Highly recommend!!

Received this book for my honest review.

Wyatt Newman is police chief of Manteague, a small town on the eastern shore of Virginia. When Millie, a new resident moves in next door, he is intrigued by the way she seems to be so afraid and nervous around him. She appears to be hiding out and he thinks it is just from the scars he sees on her. When he discovers her secrets, he considers it a betrayal of his trust and starts to pull back from her. When trouble follows her to town and he fears losing her, he decides they are truly fated to be together. Now he has to go back and convince her. Maryann does her usual great job of character building and raises our liking and concern for these characters while starting a new branch of her Baytown boys. I felt totally immersed in this story as if I was actually there. That's what Maryanns story telling does for you.

Maryann Jordan has another hit on her hands.

Scarred and looking for a place to hide, Millie heads to Manteague - a small town on the eastern shore. Millie slowly allows nature to heal her.

Having overcome poverty and after completing a stint in the military, Wyatt is now the Chief of Police in the small in which he grew up.

By chance, they are next door neighbors. By taking small steps to first become friends, they develop a relationship. Wyatt helps Millie to heal. Millie helps Wyatt risk his heart. Together, they grow and learn wealth does not define a person - who they are inside is so much more important than "appearances."

"Focus on now, not the past. Find happiness in something each day. Discover something new." - Advice given to Millie but certainly something that we can all use.

Millie was in a horrible accident that left her leaving her former life and in Manteague trying to regroup and hide away from the world. Her only neighbor is the Chief of Police, Wyatt. He knows right away that something's happened to Millie and is very slow in his approach with her. They slowly build a friendship that moves into something deeper. I think Wyatt is just simply amazing. He seems to know just when to push Millie and when to back off. He knows all the right things to say that gets her moving in the right direction to reclaim her life. When Millie's former life shows up he's doing everything he can do to protect her but is he also able to accept who her former self was.

This is a wonderfully written book that pulled me in right from the start and kept me fascinated to the very end. This a great addition to the Baytown Boys Series.

Although Protecting Her Heart is part of the Baytown Boys Series, it is a standalone read that makes you wait impatiently for the next book in the series. Or makes you go back to the beginning and binge read the previous books!

Due to a negligent accident on her latest film set, Camilla Gannon’s life is forever changed. Now renting a house in the tiny town of Manteague on the eastern shore of Virginia, Millie Adair is hiding, healing and trying and failing in dealing with the scars on her face and body. When Wyatt Newman, the local Police Chief, stops by to introduce himself, she also learns that he is her closest neighbor.

What starts with quiet shared coffee turns into a friendship and Wyatt slowly and gently brings Millie to life again. But when her past comes violently calling can Wyatt save her or will his insecurities leave her alone again?
