My name is Delores Diamond Drew, and I’ve got a bone to pick.
From an early age, I knew I didn’t want to be part of the cutthroat society my predator family sits at the top of, nor did I ascribe to their legacy of division and elitism.
It’s all such utter BS.
However, I was brainwashed to believe that if I wanted to live a successful life, I would sit still, shut up, and look pretty. And if I didn’t mold myself to their expectations, the threat of death was never too far off. So I’ve played their games in hopes I can live long enough to find my own way.
But there’s a light at the end of the tunnel—Apex Academy. If I can make a good impression during my campus tour, then I’ll no longer be living under the same roof as my scheming parents, free to make my own decisions, free to find out who I am.
And the fact the academy seems to be crawling with hot-bod professors sure doesn’t hurt.
Here I come, early admission!
Unfortunately, life has a way of sneaking up on you, and I’m starting to suspect that what I think is real is just more smoke and mirrors. When the truth finally comes to light, I may have to finally decide whether I continue to obey...or burn these expectations to the ground.

C. Rochelle here! I’m a naughty but sweet, introverted, Aquarius weirdo who believes a sharp sense of humor is the sexiest trait, loves shaking my booty to Prince, and have never met a cheese I didn’t like. Oh, and I write spicy Paranormal/Sci-Fi/Monster Why Choose + MM, MFF & MMF romance with dark, naughty humor and a #loveislove mentality.
The main plot line had potential, but turning everything in animal like names was wayyyyyy over the top cringe worthy! “Predbook” “RipTock” “Instagrowl” “grrrrvinchy” the m/m sex scene at the beginning was a MEGA shock too omg like really could of just stated it without all the graphic description it felt like a bawdy filler of space—it might have more impact later on since it seems like the two professors struck a cord or something with her while she was watching, but other than that who knows! WTF her parents are the worst seriously ever ugh whatevs they just wanted to carry on the family line, but some decency for your own freakin child ugh not to mention the pathetic excuses of so called boyfriend & her other friends! There was barely any actual character developments ugh just sad! Won’t be reading anymore from this series/author was not for me too many issues was not working in this novel!
I really liked the start of this book and how it ended. This book reaches and grabs your attention, waiting to see how she handles everything that's thrown at her, but also wanting to know more about those sexy predators that seem to be a tad bit obsessed with her lol. I loved how it ended, it reminds me of a TV episode && Next on Let Us Prey... Will she come out on top (announcers voice) lol
This book killed me in both good and bad ways. I really like DD and all of the guys are phenomenal but having to read the abuse that DD suffers at the hands of her friends, “boyfriend” and horrible “friends” made me absolutely livid. I wanted to reach through the book and choke them all. DD is sweet and innocent but knows the life she is living isn’t the one she wants. It’s so commendable that she wants to go against the grain of everything she’s been taught and raised to be. While the abuse was hard to get through I loved DD tenacity and getting a little background on the guys made me hungry for more of this universe. I can’t wait to see what Rochelle and Featherstone have in store for Delores Diamond Drew.
I really enjoyed this fun prequel by a new author duet!!!
It was spicy, angsty, and left me ready for book one! I absolutely cannot wait to see which men become a part of our bunny shifter's harem...
The puns were so much fun, and added light hearted humour to what could easily have been a "Woe is me" coming of age story. Instead it read as realistic, and left you rooting for the underdog.
OMFG! I knew this book couldn’t be anything short of amazing and I was right!! C&C have created an entirely new world with imaginative and keep you holding on to your knickers for dear life! I feel like I’m going to explode 🤯. Loved it love it loved it!
What a different take on pred vs prey. From a hole family to friends who are just enemies. Outraged is what they made me, all the names. I love Delores the FMC and the ending had me cheering her on you get em girl!!! They’ll get what’s coming to them and I for one can’t wait to see what happens next. Also let’s just mention the steam - it’s a prequel so it can’t have all the steam yet but holy bill of rights Batman does it give you a teaser and MM none the less - you both deserve the number 1 title it has you both should be so proud.
If you haven’t read it do it ASAP - you’re welcome!!!
I didn't have many expectations heading into this prequel to be fair. I often find that prequels are on the shorter side, and give us a small look into the FMC / MC before we jump into the full length book. This prequel came in over 200 pages, which also surprised me.
The cover is BEAUTIFUL. And man, These authors are great. Their writing styles were SO easy to follow and kept my interest all along. They did such a good job at worldbuilding and giving us key information about everyone in the books. And what an unique storyline!! I adore the idea of predator vs prey. FMC Dolores [ DD ] was such a blast. and hot, spicy teachers? YES PLEASE.
[DNF'd 17%] I usually try to stick to a 30-50% before I go the DNF route, but I had to make an exception with this one. I just couldn't get into it.
By the time I hit 17%, the skim mode was activated. I realized that not even the curiosity of meeting new characters could tempt me. The whole beginning felt like an information dump. I experienced flashbacks from nearly every 80s-90s movie with a mean girls trope. The Heathers reference did not go unnoticed. And DD is not the kind of character I want to follow around in terms of POV, so I politely pass on this one.
Some important notes that bear mentioning: reviews are highly subjective, including mine. My opinion is meant to give an overview of what I saw/felt when I read it. What I see might not be what you see, and what I don't like might be what you enjoy, which is fine. My advice to anyone looking into a book? Read the premise; if it interests you enough, give it a chance, and it may surprise you—or not, but at least then, you'll know.
Wow! Super interesting and such a tease before book one is released! I found the FMC Dolores interesting but naive. Which made me so frustrated with her! I saw the red flags! Those witches were not her friends! But she kept making excuses for their behavior. Not ok. Also that limp piece of wimp “Boyfriend” ugh and yuck! I felt bad for Dolores and how she was treated by her “parents”, “friends”, and just in general. She learned some very hard lessons and needs to survive and grow from that.
She is a prey animal in a world dominated by predators. Her evil parents will make her go to predator academy where she really needs to outsmart and survive because prey don’t last long. What I admire is at the end where she is at her low and utterly destroyed and betrayed she comes up with a plan to take down those who have wronged her. And I’m totally rooting and excited to see this new side of her. I’m hoping she will follow through. You also meet her potential predator mates!
Potential harem: Cash and Bash (wolf twins - alpha and beta), Nico (fox, artist, kinda with Bash), Aubrey (the librarian dragon), and a gargoyle (I forgot his name)
Super excited for book one and I’m looking forward to reading about Dolores and her adventures.
Their are multiple POVs. A little MM Sexiness: not a whole lot.
So hello! It’s the day after I’ve finished this book and I’m in LOVE! Let me start by saying that I’ve obviously loved C Rochelle’s writing, but I’ve never read anything by Cass before. I will rectify this situation quickly because I need to read everything these authors create. Come out & Prey is such a fresh and new book. Easily one of my favorite books ever. I could not put this book down and I couldn’t predict anything that was to come. Something with co writes is that sometimes you can tell when one author ends and the other begins. I didn’t have that issue here. They melded so well it was FLAWLESS! Ahh I could scream about this book because it’s so good!!! Read it please!!
I FREAKING LOVED THIS BOOK! All of the puns were hilarious I laughed so much while reading this book! Each chapter is a song title and there is a playlist for it...will I be re-reading this book while listening to the playlist, yes I will! I was too impatient and at work when I started reading this book so I couldn't. Back to the puns, Clawvenia, Instagrowl, Riptok....just to name a few! Read this book and you will not regret it and if you do well I am sorry about your life cause its gotta be dull. Now to go stalk the authors until the next book releases!
OMG Batman shut the front door and sign me up for that wild ride again!! I am shocked I am saying it because of the laughable PG13 sex scene (trust me you'll see!). Plus the semi naughty MM action...heck maybe it is really naughty but I read naughty books. You will fall in love and lust with this "prequel " , and when their first in the series come out I am all over it. I am guessing 5 in this delicious rh. I cannot wait to read them. So if you like twins, if you like awesome come back stories with a kick a$$ female, sexy as sin professors, mean girls and guys, and a revenge story that will have you wanting more...read it now! Enjoy and thank them later.
Come Out & Prey was an incredible prequel in this new series!
Set in a shifter world where you’re either a predator or you’re prey, we meet Delores and the path that leads her to bite back at the predators. This book is full of funny puns, deception and betrayal and I really loved it! I can’t wait to see what happens next!
This book has SET THE STAGE. There’s so much going on, and it’s the perfect backstory for what is promising to be a very good series. Delores is a fiery FMC, who is definitely going to break the mold on what prey is/does. I can’t wait to see what Let Us Prey brings.
Plus, all the intricate relationships? 🤌🏽 Perfect. I love that there’s already an established relationship between two of the male characters.
I was in a reading slump for about a week. I started 3 books and just couldn’t do it. But THEN, I came across this gem in KU. This book captivated my attention right away. The world of shifters that emerge as either animals of predator or prey and how their animals emerge? So good. This sets up the world perfectly for the next book of the series and how spicy it’ll be. Im super excited for the next book! It can’t get here soon enough!
Let's be introduced to an entirely new world, where shifters live by the "predators vs. prey" rules and survival of the fittest isn't limited to the animal world. And let's meet the people who keep on fighting for themselves and the ones they care about, even when others feel an intense need to destroy them.
While this book is a prequel to a new series, it's also a story on it's own that makes it interesting to read. I like Delores as an fmc; she tries to find her own place in a world that doesn't seem right to her. I highly doubt I could be as strong as she is with everything that happens in her life, and it's nice to get to know her better in this book. With this book being mutiple POV we get a short look into the minds of Delores' future men; too short to say who I like allready, but enough the be excited to get to know them better.
I'm looking forward to the rest of this series; these authors created an intriguing world and I'm curious to find out more...
This prequel is very enjoyable intro in to what seems like an interesting new series. Cant wait to see how 'DD' changes and learn more about the various preds introduced in to this
I'm turned off by females that are tstl. Another disrespected by her family, so called friends and of course her bf. Who she grossly had painful, dry s*x with to get to her animal. So many ignored red flags excused away to keep her rose colored glasses. Her animal is ridiculous & she had to be adopted. As t least a Unicorn could hold off predators with horn, hooves & kick. That is just a snack waiting to happen. Only the incompressible apex men's attention can lengthen her life here. Oh, she mad now? She gonna nibble & thump you to death? Moving on.
This was a good read, it had some heartbreaking moments where you just felt for the FMC. I did think it was pretty predictable what was going to happen however I still enjoyed it and cannot wait to read the next book.
This prequel was awesome. I'm loving the characters and can't wait to get to know them even more. DD is fragile but I can see with some help she's going to be fierce. I'm looking forward to seeing how she fits within Apex.
Okay so I enjoyed this prequel. I’m sad the first full book isn’t out till April lol
I’m already envisioning where this is headed and I’m loving it
I like Delores but I’m sad she’s a 🐰 I’m Kinda hoping either she has razor teeth to eff stuff up or maybe she’s a double shifter with predator and prey and can do both. I’ve not seen that before and it would be awesome!
What did I just read!! Absolute perfection that’s what!! This book is so seamlessly written you wouldn’t know it was a co-write except for the fact two authors wrote. The prequel is amazing and gives you some insight to what the series will be!! I cannot wait!!
Aaaaaaaahhhhh… I don’t want to wait until April 30th for the first book! This prequel was EVERYTHING, including a damn tease lol. I want more, especially more Nico, asap!! 😩
The entire thing I’m like “oh no, this poor girl… oh no, oh no she’s so screwed…” and there’s like this anticipatory dread because you know she’s not a predator and you have the sick feeling that everyone is conspiring against her the entire time, and then they are! And it’s worse than you imagine. 🥺
But our girl doesn’t stay down on the ground for long and those b*stards are going to get it. I cannot wait for her revenge. I hope Bash does k*ll Todd. And I hope the of the guys protect her while she fucks those Heathers and Company’s lives up. 😤 I can only hope something terrible happens to her disgustingly abusive parents too… preferably at her hand, or the hand of Mattie — that would be some divine retribution there.
C. Rochelle & Cassandra Featherstone make a killer author duo, the writing was enjoyable, the puns were simultaneously hilarious and eye-roll worthy at times, and our brief M/M interlude was delicious. I can’t wait for the main attraction (because girl got ~seriously~ let down with her cherry pop).

Dear God Finally another word to be lost it!! Spoilers
I have been in a huge book slump and this book full-filled all my desires! Student/teacher kink like no other! Ohhh and what she emerges as WHAT!! Like never had an FMC like this one! I cant explain how much this book gave me the fills and I cant not, CAN NOT wait until the official first book come out!!! This book is just WOW!! Read it!!
