Ride forth into the magical world of Britannia with a new 3-in-1 omnibus version of the manga that inspired the most popular Netflix Original Anime worldwide! This book includes Vols. 1-3 of The Seven Deadly Sins manga, in a special, large size.
When they were accused of trying to overthrow the monarchy, the feared warriors the Seven Deadly Sins were sent into exile. Princess Elizabeth discovers the truth - the Sins were framed by the king's guard, the Holy Knights - too late to prevent them from assassinating her father and seizing the throne! Now the princess is on the run, seeking the Sins to help her reclaim the kingdom. But the first Sin she meets, Meliodas, is a little innkeeper with a talking pig. He doesn't even have a real sword! Have the legends of the Sins' strength been exaggerated...?
Nakaba Suzuki (鈴木央Suzuki Nakaba, born in Sukagawa, Fukushima) is a Japanese manga artist, known for his works in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump, Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday and Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine.
Volume 1: I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't this. An odd combination of Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Fairy Tail this story is a fast paced adventure that is slightly predictable but strangely satisfying. It has enough mystery to keep the reader interested but not so much that the reader is completely confused.
I was drawn in particularly by the intricate backgrounds (and character designs) that reminded me of the childhood storybooks passed down to me from the 60s-80s. But the fascination ends there.
It's a shame, because Suzuki's art is wasted on this story. Right out of the gate, we find out our main "hero", Meliodas, makes himself comfortable shamelessly sexually harassing our heroine, the princess Elizabeth. She is, of course, an incel's perfect dream girl, just going along with it - no objections. Because that's what every girl wants! The next female character introduced, the giant, Diane, is romantically infatuated with Meliodas, and because all girls are jealous of eachother until they get to know one another, she has a rival friction with Lizzy. Does this sound like the author's own wish fulfillment yet?
It didn't get better or worse from there, it just got boring. Every other shōnen trope came into play, and I realized I wasted my time on the worst manga I've read in a long while. The pig, Hawk, is the best character and even he feels humorless at times. Pass.
The narrative kicks off with Princess Elizabeth on the run after the Holy Knights frame the legendary Seven Deadly Sins for a coup and seize her family’s kingdom. She soon meets Meliodas, an unassuming innkeeper (and talking pig companion, Hawk) who turns out to be the infamous Dragon Sin of Wrath. Their quest to regroup the Sins and reclaim the kingdom forms the heart of the omnibus, introducing a colorful cast of characters and plenty of confrontations with villainous foes.
As the title says, this book features all seven of the deadly sins.
I love this series. I watched it on Netfix back when it first came out. My only complaint about the Manga is that the drawings are sometimes too small and too chaotic for me to discern what's happening in certain panels. I think this would be beautiful if it was in full color.
i love this terrible manga. its got uncomfortable fan service out the wazoo but the potential this guy puts in his character designs. insane. like these guys could be so interesting and could be telling a fascinating story and yet. we get gratuitous panty shots instead. unfortunate.
I love the show so much and I am so glad that it's as good as the show. The only reason that it get 4 instead of 5 was the the story (in my opinion) was still finding itself and it only gets better the further into the story you get!
had this book for so long, watched the anime agessss ago love the first few seasons then it gets hella crap in the last few seasons! but the first book was good, so crazy seeing the differences between the two!
I love the characters a lot, their dynamics are strange, and interesting. I can't wait to find out more about the story and characters in the next books!
My second series reminds me much of Fairy Tail. I thoroughly enjoyed and read it within 2 hours of owning the book, I had to return and grab the others.
