Aspiring author, Troy Evans, has a new job, a new home and just found out his wife is pregnant. He’s excited about the recent changes in his life but still longs to have his fantasy manuscript published. After numerous rejections and some advice from a fellow colleague, he decides to write a thriller. Troy is so passionate about his latest project that he begins to identify with the main character…who happens to be a serial killer.

The first book in the Detective Sampson series did not disappoint. The details provided in the synopsis barely scratch the surface of this captivating psychological crime thriller. Part I focuses on Troy and the events leading up to the gruesome murder committed while Part II follows Detective Carl Sampson’s pursuit of the killer. Things are not as clear-cut as they seem and Detective Sampson seems to be the only one picking up on that fact.

The portrayal of Troy’s descent into madness was well done. I thought I pretty much knew what to expect going into this story but still ended up with a few surprises. I liked that we got to experience both the detective and the killer’s POV. The book ends on a major cliffhanger so I’m anxious to see how things play out in the sequel.

Pseudonym: A Sampson Psychological Thriller is the first novel in the Detective Sampson Book. Mr Jackson believes powerful thrillers lie at the intersection of intriguing stories and intelligent characters in search of dramatic revelations with global human impact. his book had a great story line, building upon the characters introduced in the preceding novel. The author showed maturation in his writing from his debut novel and this one flowed wonderfully, keeping you engaged from the beginning. The foreshadowing gave way to some predictions along the way, however, the book was thrilling throughout. I gave this honest, voluntary review after being given a free copy of the book with no monetary compensation.
