An alien scientist desperate for answers

Cyle is the only Albyan alive who knows who was responsible for their females succumbing to the Sleep: his father. Ever since he discovered the truth, he’s been trying to find a way to wake the females.

He vowed to himself that he’d never accept a mate until he succeeded. But that’s easier said than done when he meets the female of his dreams and his mating instincts kick in.

The only way to stop himself from getting distracted is to push her away – but she has no intentions of leaving.

A human woman strong enough to match him

Before her accident, Beth had everything she’d ever wanted: a doting husband, the house of her dreams, a promising career. Now she’s a widow scarred inside and out, jobless and on the verge of being kicked out of her home.

She only registered at a dating agency because her therapist thought it was a good idea. She didn’t expect to be matched to a kilt-wearing Highlander – especially not an alien. He embodies the chance of a new life, but he doesn’t seem to be interested in her.

It’s time to cheat fate and take her life into her own hands. He will become her mate – even if she has to resort to unusual measures.

If you want hot alien Highlanders in kilts, strong women who don't like being told what to do, fated mates and happily-ever-afters, dive into the world of the Starlight Highlanders.

The Sleeping Beauties Awaken

Another very enjoyable quick read. The story didn't have the intensity of the mating pull like the other couples. And, I was really disappointed that Cyle didn't put Beth in the Medpod for her physical issues. But, it was still really good. Good Read.

I have been waiting for Cyle to find his own mate since book one of this series. Beth gets assigned a mate but when she meets him, she has zero attraction to him and even less to his attitude. She runs away from him and wants to go home. Cyle then realizes that he was looking at the mating codes wrong and when he sees Beth, the attraction is instantaneous. Will Cyle be able to be with his mate and still solve the overall problem of finding a cure for the sleeping sickness? This book was steamy and had a great story that I did not want to put down. I loved how the book ended in a happily ever after and am sad that this is the last book in this fantastic series. Can't wait to see what Skye comes out with next!

In the last book we saw Eron meet his mate June and all that entailed. We also saw more of Thorrn's brother the lead scientist Cyle and Thorrn's mate Jenny.

While that meet and greet was going on Cyle was working, as he always is, looking for more matches. His assistant Vhom didn't want to even observe that meeting, not wanted to be jealous of those fortunate enough to get mates through the process. Instead he checks on the control sample of females in the sleep. No one expects any change but they must be monitored for any detrimental changes.

Beth has met her supposed mate Obi. She feels no attraction to him, even a kiss was extremely distasteful to her. He gets arrogant and demands she go home with him, but she's not having any of that. She gets escorted to the hotel reserved for those who want more time to get to know their mate. One thing she's sure of, Obi is not her mate.

Cyle is dedicated to not only finding mates from the Peritan data provided but also finding a cure for the sleep. Before his father died he told him something that shaped his path, he can't fail in this and he won't mate until he accomplishes his goal. He takes Jenny with him to do some scans on Eron and June had as they too had such a strong reaction to each other. It's while they're doing that that Jenny gets a message that Beth has runaway. After reviewing the tapes of her and Obi meeting there is concern that he has taken her against her will.

While the authorities are looking for her, a couple of things happen. First he finds there is a second marker in all the successful mate pairs, and when compared to Albyan mates only the male has it. Second Beth and Obi are not mates, which is an overall relief.

When Cyle adds that second marker to the process to find mates, he is matched to Beth. Now he has to explain to her why he can't mate with her, at least not yet.

With that ultimatum Cyle knows he has to find the cure, and Beth gets the other Peritan women to help.

It's Vhom who brings some information to Cyle after having checked the data on the control group, there had been a change to their brain waves. This is a major break through.

Beth is supportive and being with Cyle isn't difficult as she makes sure he eats and rests. Oh and the attraction here is not a simmer, it's sizzling.

I truly love this book and I really want to see more of the Albyan's we've met get their mates.

Cyle is the first scientist on his planet who feels personally responsible for curing a virus that made all their females fall into a sleep they haven't woken from.
Their numbers and extinction depends on him finding a solution... He found a species that are compatible to mate with his kind and has matched a number of human females with the males he knows.
When Beth leaves Earth for a fresh start, she is excited to leave behind everything painful to hopefully find her own mate but the male who stands before her is aggressive and she knows she has no feeling for him.
A clear mistake has been made and Cyle recalculates... He then discovers that this woman is actually meant to be his mate but he can't take one until he has helped the females who still sleep.

This was an intriguing alien romance with a strong female who has been through a traumatic time losing her human husband in an accident that left her scarred inside and out. The main female is written to be admired and her self doubt makes her endearing to the reader.
I loved the true reaction when mates finally meet and I adored the physical signs in the males with their itchy antennae.
It's important to Cyle to solve the mystery of eternal sleep that has plagued the females of his species and yet he does in his own way introduce the means to reverse damage done.
I was amazed by how this story flowed in perfect waves and resulted in the sweetest binding one could imagine.
I am enraptured by these alien males and how much they adore the women meant only for them.
Skye Mackinnon can weave a story that enchants and snakes it's way directly into unsuspecting hearts.

Delightful Conclusion to the Series

This third book in the Starlight Highlanders Mail Order Bride series was my favorite of them. Each book has common elements, of course; but each book was different from the others. In the first book, the Albyan male was a fighter (think MMA); in the second book, the Albyan male was a taigeis farmer; in this book, the Albyan male, Cyle, was the 1st Scientist for all of Albya.

Beth, the Earth female, had been matched with the male Obi, but when they met there was no spark of attraction at all. As she was speaking with a man to arrange a shuttle to take her to the hotel, Obi became enraged that another man had touched his “mate” and created an awful scene by shoving Beth aside and attacking the man. The next morning he showed up at her hotel pounding on the door and yelling to be let in. He was asked to leave and he assaulted the staff, which was enough to land him in jail.

In the meantime, Cyle discovered a second marker in the computer program analyzing the DNA and realized that Beth and Obi weren’t a match after all. When he ran the program again searching the database for Beth’s match, he was astounded to discover that it was himself.

Of course, you know there’s going to be a HEA, but how do they overcome the obstacles to get there? That’s what makes the book so good. The continued world building was great and the character development was superb. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend this entire series to anyone who enjoys alien/human romances.

My Rating: 5 Stars!

The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was clean, with no typos that I found and a sparkling, charming authorial voice. The world building was deft, and I especially liked the thoughtful, cute illustrations. The characterization was good, with both hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals with some nuance. The development of the romantic relationship was cute and sweet once the protagonists met. The heat level in this novel was four chili peppers, with some fun non-human anatomy being incorporated. The plot was quick and punchy, so the pacing was therefore quick. There was a little tiresome angst that did not feel well justified, but it thankfully did not drag on too long. The stakes were pretty high, which I enjoyed. This novel used the Fated Mates trope, the Partner in Trouble trope, and the Big Secret trope. The world building, plot, and pacing were all four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also four stars. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of four stars. This novel ended on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger ending, so that was a major plus. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy sparkling, funny, charming sci-fi romances. I would love to read more romances by the author set in this universe. I do not plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

Wow! This is such a sweet story with passion, romance, a miracle, steamy scenes and a happily ever after ending. It’s well written and the main characters are so sweet. I was hooked from the start and highly recommend this whole series.

Cyle is the first scientist and has been working nonstop to find a cure for the sleep. He also is responsible for the algorithm that matches mates together. Beth is matched with Obi but on meeting him she felt nothing at all, Obi on the other hand wanted to mate with her anyway and was in fact violent when she tried to go to her hotel. When she was asked by the starlight captain if she wanted to go to his home as a guest she accepted wanting to get away from Obi. Everyone panicked as they thought she’d been taken against her will. Enforcers went to retrieve her and Cyle went back to check and see if they were mates. It’s then he finds out two things, one he found a second marker in the females dna and second Obi wasn’t Beth’s mate, he was. When they meet Cyle tells Beth that he cannot be her mate, he had to focus on the cure for the sleep. Beth doesn’t accept that, she gives him 30 days to find the cure and then they are mating. Then a miracle happens but you will have to read for yourself to find out what it is.

A riveting read, engaging with excellent characters and a good scenario you’ll read in one sitting

This in the third book in this series and is equally as entertaining as the predecessors.
Cyle has discovered that he has a second marker that is in the analysing program shown within the DNA and has realised that he actually was the correct match for Beth and this has left him at a complete loss.

In the meantime, the confusion between the other couples has been being sorted out but Cyle is not exactly jumping for joy over this match and it seems that Beth has already been through a traumatic experience in her life and she has decided that she is going to make this her happy ever after and she will do whatever it takes to achieve this

Even if that also entails being mated to a giant of a man that just happens to wear a skirt, “well if needs be she can always wear the pants”!!

I guarantee that once you begin reading this book it will be impossible to put it down until you discover the outcome.

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

Beth, the female human lead, has been promised a genetically perfect match and has come to a new planet but she’s not feeling attraction for her “mate”; in fact, she’s feeling uncertain and, later, fearful about the aggressive, possessive male and she eventually leaves with another friendly male because she fears for her safety.

Cyle, the male alien lead, is chief scientist and the one who worked out the matching process. He’s horrified when he sees what has happened and mildly mortified to realise he overlooks one genetic factor that changes Beth’s match to be him - he made a promise that he’d fix the genetic issues on his planet before taking a mate but the overwhelming attraction between them is nearly undeniable…

This story is dual POV, well written and edited, and completes a story arc in this world. I enjoyed Beth’s willingness to fight for what she wanted, especially since she’s been carrying scars from an accident on Earth that killed her husband and left her in a coma. I enjoyed Cyle’s scholarly confusion over several aspects of their interactions and was amused by his fight to control his attraction to get his work done. I enjoyed their intimate interactions and the inclusion of integrated secondary characters.

This is the BEST!!!! I take that back, the wonderful twist is the BEST!!!!

This is Cyle and Beth's whirlwind story. Both their backstories are heart crushing however, they come out the other side stronger and better for it.

So much happens that I'm afraid of spoiling something major but here goes. At the end of Eron and June's story, Beth had "tan away.' Well I can tell you why and I definitely don't blame her. Obi. I very aggressive Albyn male whom happens to be her mate! But how can that be, she's Cyle's mate? You must read to find out.

And what about the twist I mentioned earlier? Let's just say all the human women play a major role. I'm going to thank the IGA, the elders, Thornn's antenna, Jenny, Hot Taddies and the 10 women brave enough to go to an alien planet. Without all you, the twist never would have been possible. At least I think not. By the way, it's a heartwarming twist, just so you know.

P.S. Skye MacKinnon, thanks for the journey you to my imagination on. I loved it!

Cyle is the First Scientist on his planet and in developing the matching of Earth women to the Albyan males. He has been working tirelessly on the task of finding a cure for the females of his planet that are in a deep coma like sleep. When Beth and the other women arrive, her match is not right and he soon figures out a clue that breaks the way for a cure. She is also his mate.
Loved the full characters, their personalities, acceptance, determination and instant love. The storyline is fast paced as things start to happen with the arrival of the human women - the sleeping women are waking. My heart is still pounding and shivers go up my arms with anticipation of the next update. I wanted to be there to celebrate with them. Loved the older lady who had the tartan cloth brought over for Cyle and Beth handfasting. Vivid details and deep emotions kept the pages turning right up to the ending. Can not wait for the next book as this series just keeps getting better.

Cyle has pressure enough on him to find a cure for the sleeping sickness which has affected the women of his home planet. He adds even more pressure on himself by knowing the reason behind the illness in the first place, a side effect of the research his father was doing. He has vowed to stay alone until a cure is found despite the crushing weight of loneliness and isolation that he feels even more so now his brother is mated. Beth is assigned a mate and she has the highest hopes for her new bright future. That is until she meets him and finds out that she has about as much attraction for him as she does a silage pit. His nasty attitude doesn't help. She cannot be mated to him. Turns out that they had been looking at the matings wrong and Cyle is her match. Can Cyle cope with knowing he has a mate, she is here and he doesn't yet have a cure? Can Beth get over the shattering of her dreams? Can they ever be a happily ever after?

Beth and Cyle's Story . . .

Beth is a widow who has lost everything and there is nothing to keep her on Earth. At her therapist’s suggestion, she is ready to find a match with an Albyan male. Yet she feels nothing for the alien she was matched to. Obi is not even nice and turns violent when he can’t force her to accept him.

Cyle is working to find a cure for females who succumbed to the Sleep that his father was responsible for. In his research to find a way to awaken them, he finds a second marker in mate pairs who have a successful match. From that, he determined Obi and Beth are not mates and actually, Beth is his mate. However, he cannot be distracted from his research and tells her they must wait. (I guess he never noticed how stubborn Earth woman can get.)

Grab your copy to find out what action Beth will take to let her match know that she is done waiting? Cyle may be surprised that Beth is a surprisingly good partner for him!

The third Starlight Highlanders book is a fun romantic story featuring a strong, sympathetic heroine and an intriguing, surprising, and very alien hero. Readers of the first two Starlight Highlanders books are familiar with the distinctively alien quirks of MacKinnon’s four-armed, kilt-wearing heroes, but suffice it to say they’re very, very interesting. There are a lot of familiar but fun elements that have been invoked in Cyle, and everything comes together beautifully for a heated, engaging read. The world-building is strong, but the romance is definitely the heart of the story. Cyle is a easy, enjoyable read for fans of alien romance stories, and also one that can be read as a standalone without an issue. MacKinnon has created a unique, exciting world, and I hope that there are more Albyan-human matches that she intends to write about in the future!

Bad match

Cyle the leading scientist is trying to find a cure for the " Sleep" affecting their women. He thinks the humans may have the "key to unlocking the puzzle. But first they need mates to save their species, humans DNA compatible to provide offspring. Several women arrive to be mates , he paired a few, but so engrossed in his work he was unable to review the results until the next day. There was one pairing with disastrous results. They felt nothing for each other but the male had waited so long he was of the mind to force the mating. After all the doc said she was his mate, he couldn't be wrong. He's the First Scientist. When Cyle reviews all the matches, with the help of his assistant, he learns that the algorithm was incorrect n that the female was actually his soulmate. What a dilemma, as he vowed to himself not to seek a mate until he'd righted a wrong caused by his father.
This story held my interest from beginning to end.

Fantastic!

The first ten women from earth have arrived on Albya. All the matches seem perfect except for one. Cycle is frantically trying to figure out why and if he made a mistake. Imagine his surprise when he reruns the analysis and finds out Beth is his perfect match! But he has vowed not to take a mate until he cures the women of his planet from “The Sleep”.

Beth is excited to leave Earth and start a new life with her mate. After a devastating crash killed her husband and left her horribly scarred, there is nothing left on earth for her. But when her match is a horrible male that she can’t stand she is devastated. But when Cycle explains what happened and that he is her mate but he can’t claim her she has had enough!

This is a great book and the interactions between Cycle and Beth are funny and heartbreaking. Love the ending!.

This is such a good series. Great world building. I love the atmosphere of these stories, and the mysteries surrounding the Albyan females in an endless sleep. Beth is a scarred widow with nothing left for her on Earth. She decides to try and find a match with an Albyan male, but there's no chemistry with the one she's matched to and he's possessive and violent. Cyle is a scientist setting up the matches based on compatible genes. He realizes he matched her by mistake, but is even more shocked to discover she is actually his fated mate. In spite of this, he can't allow himself a mate until he finds a way to awaken the sleeping females.. because his father was responsible for the Sleep. As his son, he feels he must cure them, and cannot afford to be distracted by a mate. But Beth isn't letting him go so easily.

Another wonderful addition to the Intergalactic Dating Agency Series. Beth has lost everything on Earth and decides to register on the advice of her therapist. She's matched to one of the kilt-wearing Highlander aliens. Beth has met her mate Obi, but she feels nothing for him. Obi is upset that he's not been matched, he becomes violent and possessive. It seems that there was a glitch and Obi is not her mate. Cyle is her mate but Beth has disappeared. So now they have to retrieve her. Cyle explains why he can't mate right now but Beth is patient. She cares for him by being supportive, making him eat, and get enough rest. There is an attraction between them that heats the pages of my kindle up. Will Cyle and Beth find a way to wake up the females? Will Beth and Cyle get their HEA. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Beth has lost everything and as she is recovering, it's suggested she become a mail order bride. But when she meets the oaf she is matched with, she says no thanks. Cyle is a scientist who is working to find a cure for females who succumbed to the Sleep that his father was responsible for. He has pledged to not take a mate until he finds a cure. He is also the guy who matches the markers for the mates. When he discovers a second marker for success of the matches and it matches him with Beth, he decides he cannot lose his focus on solving the Sleep problem. Although they are both intensely attracted, Beth is the one who acts. I love strong, determined women. This book is well paced, steamy, has some twists, and a few turns. Great Read

Book 3 and best when read in order. We hear some about Beth in book 2 - Eron. Now we get to see what happened when the first 10 women arrived from a different perspective.
Cyle is hopelessly devoted to curing the Sleep and helping prevent his race from extinction. These have become his life's mission, forsaking taking care of himself. Beth is looking for a new start and hoping for love. She knows something is definitely not the same between her and Obi as she watches the other couples barely being able to keep their hands off each other. Is there something wrong with the science?

I enjoyed the story and how secrets are revealed. A great read.

Another enjoyable read in this series which is about Cyle and Beth. Beth a scarred widow is looking forward to a new life. Beth is matched with Obi a older Albya who she feels no spark for at their first meeting. Beth decides to stay at the hotel but Obi rejects that idea and becomes possessive and violent. Beth then learns that a mistake was made and she was Cyle's match, but Cyle promised himself to find the cure and wants no mate until he can free their women from the Sleep. Beth decides to not take no for a answer and pursues Cyle. What occurs between them was enjoyable, engaging story with likable characters. Cyle is the 3rd book in the series and it is one not to be missed. When these aliens come they already know what they need. Females. A unique story with characters that I know you will fall in love with. This is filled with romance and drama and a bit of high handedness, but nothing that the reader cannot overcome. I would not say this has triggers at least for me, but some might be aware of this because of some wording within, no fret though Miss MacKinnon has you. This is well written with steam and warm fuzzies throughout!

Cyle is an Albyan healer who knows who caused the females of his race to go to Sleep and not wake up. Cyle made a promises to himself to cure the females of his race before he will take a mate. A dating agency is signing human females up to go to Cyle's planet to become mates to the other males of his race. Beth is matched but once she meets her match there is no spark or attraction. Cyle reruns the test on Beth's DNA and discovers with a second data point she is his mate. What can he do, he needs to fulfill his vow. I love this book, strong take charge women and men who will do anything to please them.

Albyan scientist Cyle holds a secret… his father is the creator of the sleeping sickness affecting the females of his species and Cyle is determined to come up with a cure.
Complications to his plans soon arrive in the form of a human named Beth who has been matched with him as a mate and leads to plenty of intrigue, adventure, personal vulnerabilities, and spice in this third book of the series which was another engaging well written story as the reader follows along with Cyle and Beth on their bumpy road to happiness.

Beth feels absolutely nothing for the alien she has been matched with and is so relieved to find it was in error. However her actual match, Cyle states that he cannot fulfil his obligation as he is just too busy with his research. He is overwhelmed with the burden of finding the solution to the illness causing all his species females to sleep.

Plucky Beth gives him an ultimatum. He has thirty days to find a cure then their mating is going ahead regardless.

A sweet romance that creeps up on the two main characters. Great series and fabulous ending.

This is a Starlight Highlander Mail Order Brides book 3 love story for Cyle and Beth. I so loved how Beth is strong and only wants a mate to love and hold her so what to do when the Alien you are paired with is an entitled baby and only thinks of keeping her because they were paired up but not mates. I loved what happens next for poor Beth and was so hurting for Cyle. But Beth will no be turned away and helps solve her true Mates problem with him. I can not wait to see what the next book holds.

I love this series. It unique and original. This book has us with Thorrn’s brother Cyle. He is kind and caring. I love him and Beth’s chemistry and personalities. They are fantastic together and their chemistry is felt throughout the story. I love the surprise twists throughout this story as it ass so much to it. Beth is so strong and loving but yet has a slight feisty side to her that just gives her that bit of extra. The story is extremely well written and developed. This was a magnificent story that is most definitely a must read.
