Hi, I’m Lucy AKA Lucifer, and I’m the CEO of Hell. It’s my job to mete out justice in the afterlife, to serve as warden for sinful souls until their sentences are served so they can cross through those pearly gates in the sky and I never have to see their sorry faces again.
Most of the time, it’s actually a pretty easy gig.
But some idiot humans—playing with a Ouija board of all things—just opened an interdimensional portal on earth, and somehow it falls to me to stop the terrible monster now running amok as it feasts on the souls of humans.
So now I’m on earth, trying my best to blend in while also attempting to catch this thing before it destroys humanity for good. And the more time I spend with one human in particular, the more I kind of don’t want to go back to my old 9-to-5…
I originally read this book under another title. This is a copy of that review.
I am loving this series. It all starts in Hell where Lucy is in charge. Yes, Lucy. Her brothers Gabriel and Michael, the banes of her childhood, were put in charge of the earth and Lucy was put in charge of Hell. She is proud of the job she has done, even if her brothers have given her a bad reputation. She is only there to see that those who deserve to suffer, suffer. If they fulfill their allotment of punishment they are allowed to move on, but for some that is not possible and that is how it should be. When she is suddenly thrust into a shared vision with a human psychic showing there has been some kind of breach between realms, she doesn't hesitate to show up to try to help.
A soul stealer has escaped whatever realm he is supposed to inhabit and is now on earth. He has already taken one soul and there are two more in imminent danger. These are high schools girls who did not understand what they unleashed. Lucy finds the psychic, Levi, who originally connected with her. Together they try to find out what is going on while keeping the other two girls safe, and themselves out of each other's arms.
Lucy and Levi are joined, however reluctantly, by two detectives who are not sure what to believe anymore. There is also an old childhood friend of Lucy's, Dacian, who is acting like he doesn't know her and is not all that friendly in the current time. Together they must try to solve the mystery of how the soul stealer got to this dimension, and what exactly his plans are. Something tells Lucy her brothers are involved, but why? The mysteries will not all be solved in this book, of course.
I was given an ARC of this book. My review is voluntary.
OMG this was awesome! Lucifer is a girl! That’s right you read this correctly, a girl and what an amazing character she is! Lucifer aka Lucy is the CEO of hell and it’s her job to dish out justice in the afterlife and to stop the demons causing chaos on earth. Lucy has to investigate something happening on earth and in the process meets Levi. Their chemistry is waaay off the charts and is steamy and intense as together they look into what’s been going on. It’s an exciting start to this series, it’s full of action, adventure, mystery and suspense, magic and let’s not leave out the magic! It’s an awesome urban fantasy read and im off to read the next book!
This is quite a fun look at the devil story line. Lucy, Lucifer is female and girl bossing hell, comes to the mortal realm her brothers are in charge of to find out who ripped a hole in the universe. Combatting the patriarchy other incompetent people she and a psychic, Levi, set out fixing the world. Given it is a short book there is a lot going on and it is a quick enjoyable read.
I didn't know what to expect from this book when I started reading. It turns out this was a fun and intriguing look at Satan or Lucifer. Actually she prefers to go by Lucy. The story is more of a paranormal detective than anything else. It's a fun read and I'm looking forward to the next book. Read it and have a good time!
Yummy book! Earth is attacked and it's up to Hell's CEO to fix it. Very well written, plenty of action, a little bit of romance (or a lot!) and fight between Lucifer and her brothers. Yes, yes, Lucy is a woman! Grab the book, it's worth it.
The Devil May Care is a fun and interesting book. I like the characters. This book is intriguing and unique. The book is well written and the plot flows well and is engaging. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next book in the series.
