Love is in the Air

Rate this book
Saffy and Libby Verdant have one ambition – to turn Verdant Hall into the hotel of which their late parents had always dreamed. And they’re almost there. The once grand, country house that was more of a ruin than a welcoming retreat when their parents passed away three years ago, is now about to open to guests.

Adam Wynter adores his family, but recovering from a broken heart is hard when you’re surrounded by your brother and sister’s own ‘happy families’. Spending the summer as a member of good friend, Rory Wilde’s hot air balloon team, was the break Adam needed. But now it’s time to go home.

Except Fate has other plans. An unpredicted storm and a fault with Rory’s state of the art equipment sends the hot air balloon crashing into Verdant Hall, damaging a row of Queen Anne chimneys, knocking several tiles from the roof, and finally, decimating the beautiful gardens.

Rory’s insurance will cover the cost of any damage, but what Saffy and Libby need is some immediate help. The least Adam and Rory can do is stay and lend a hand.
Besides, there’s something rather appealing about the Verdant sisters.

But Saffy and Libby aren’t interested in meaningless flings and Adam and Rory soon get more than they bargained for with these two very determined sisters.

The balloon might not be in the air – but perhaps Love is…

This is a spin-off from the Wyntersleap series.

One of my favorite things about Emily Harvale’s books is that she’ll unexpectedly pull in a character from another of her series. This book is a spin-off from the Wyntersleap series, but then pulls in a character from the Seahorse Harbour series!

After their parents die unexpectedly, sisters Libby and Saffy are fulfilling their parents’ dream of turning their family home, Verdant Hall, into a luxury hotel. When a hot air balloon crashes into it causing serious damage, they think the grand opening, just a week away, will have to be delayed. But the people who work at the air balloon company all offer to pitch in to do the repairs. Will they be able to open the hotel in time for their first guests?

Like most Emily Harvale books, there are handsome men and falling in love comes quickly! This is a charming little book and a light romance full of interesting characters. The plot has been done many times, but the addition of the hot air balloons and fun information about how they work keeps it from seeming tired. I read most of it in an evening and finished it over coffee the next morning so it was a quick read that I enjoyed.

Well the minute I realised that this book Love is in the Air featured one of the characters from the authors previous Wyntersleap series, being Adam, I knew I just had to read it pronto. I remember feeling a bit sad at the end of the Wyntersleap series thinking how Adam didn’t get his happy ever after, but now I realise that’s because the author clearly had other plans for him, meaning for him to make an appearance/feature in another book.

So this story Love is in the Air has been a truly enjoyable and entertaining read, with a few laugh out loud moments, and it was so great to be reacquainted with Adam. It was also nice getting to know the other characters, Saffry, Libby, Rory and Flick too.

So all in all another fab story from author Emily.

Oh I love a good romance, especially with Adam, Rory, Saffy, Libby and Flick, they were amazing characters. Emily always delivers a great romantic story and I am a sucker for a happy ending. The story of these two sisters was a lovely plot with them bringing their parents dream alive after there sad demise in an accident a few years before. I hope we hear more from these characters in another update. Thank you for making me smile this morning before work and the sun is shining.

Wow. So terrible. Not sure what the point of this book was. Repetitive with little interesting story line development and I painful to read. I enjoyed the other books in the series but this was just eh! Blah!

This book was way to sappy for me, not up to the usual standard of the author. I only gave it 1 star because I could feel my teeth rotting because of all the sugar in the book.

DNF.
I started it, read about 20 pages and decided that this book is not for me. Although I love romance books, they have to grab me from the beginning. This didn't do it.
I have no time to waste on books that don't speak to me.
