Steel My Heart

Rate this book
Bantom Freed’s flesh has healed. His prosthetics finally feel like second nature. Yet he can’t shake loose the ghosts that haunt him. No amount of therapy can convince him he couldn’t have saved his SEAL teammate that horrible night, and he owns that failure every waking and sleeping minute. He’s certain guilt will stalk him forever…until he meets Steel.

Steel Grisher has a past that still leaves her gasping in terror at random moments, but she’s risen above those fears to become tops in the motorcycle restoration field. She has a father who loves her, and an aunt she didn’t know existed until recently. What more could a woman ask for? How about a handsome, hurting SEAL whose life is also tormented by specters? Can she convince Bantom they’re better off fighting those demons together? The answer will have to wait until they solve the mystery of Aunt Astrid’s shady guests.

This series is all about handsome wounded vets working together to build homes for other vets. Every one of them have insecurities but together there is not much they can not handle.
Bantom is emotionally damaged as well as physically but it hides his feelings and fears with humor.
His demons are always with him, in his mind always reminding him of what he has lost.
Like the rest of the crew, he longs to have someone to spend his life with but feels that he just isn't worthy.
Along comes Steel, she rides into his life on her Harley and just blows him away. Steel is searching for answers. She was adopted and found someone from her birth family.
Trouble is brewing but if there is one thing about this group of vets, if one is in trouble the rest are right there to cover their backs. They protect what and who they care about and God help anyone who tries to hurt any of them.
Bantom and Steel's stories will tug at your heartstrings, cause a tear or two, then make you smile and laugh with them. No matter what, true love always wins and soul mates will always come out on top.

It all began with a Neil Young song playing on his truck radio and just as he was singing "chrome and steel she rides. Her long blonde hair flying in the wind…” a blonde biker on a Harley blew by Bantom Freed. Serendipty? Perhaps. Although he comes across as a joker and a prankster, Bantom has insecurities and demons. He's drowning himself in guilt over what he shoulda, coulda or woulda done on an op that turned deadly. He lost his legs but his teammate lost their life. Steel Grisher is not a wilting flower by any means. She can hold her own against most men. She's brash, sassy and flirty yet there's an an air of innocence about her. Their connection is almost immediate but she leads him a merry dance before finally agreeing to see him. It takes a while but Bantom & Steel bare their deepest secrets and in doing so strengthen an already strong attraction.

Steel My Heart has some great suspense, drama and danger. I was struck by just how diverse the predicaments this group of vets encounter. It makes for interesting reading. I read a lot but don't think I've ever encountered the method of murder that the bad guys are willing to use. Gave me the shivers. Ms Vickery definitely has a very creative imagination. Bantom and his fellow team members along with Cal and Tex go all out to protect

I love this series soo much!!
Bantom has lived with the guilt of losing his teammate for quite some time.
Steel is heading to meet a family member she just found. She is riding a sweet bike and has noticed a guy checking out the bike or her. She finally stops to find out which.
Steel is so excited to have met her aunt. Her aunt rents out cottages and they are soon suspicious of these renters.
While the guys are watching over the cottages, Steel and Bantom are getting closer. They have also came clean about their pasts.
Will they find out what is really going on with the renters? Will Bantom and Steel figure out where they are going with their lives?

Bantom and Steel

I love how they met and how Steel checked out Bantom's references like he suggested. Thank goodness he was finally able to let go of the guilt from his teammate and good friend Vines death. It was great how she was in his head; especially when he needed her. Sadly Steel was raped and abused when she was a teenager and trust came hard for her understandably, and it was a rival club of her dads. Header, her dad was a great surprise as well and looking forward to seeing more of him and her aunt Astrid. Bless her heart as well. Happy reading.

…the chrome and steel she rides…

The third in the HinH series, Bantom is a guilt ridden double amputee. How can there be a woman for him until he sees her. Steel a woman who has her own demons to confront. And a family to discover.
They discover that healing within each other. And when Steel's new found aunt is threatened, it's the HinH crew to the rescue.
Another good addition to the series.

2 Wounded Souls Find Their HEA

I have enjoyed all of these books but this one is my favorite. Both Steel and Bantom have so much to overcome. Just when you think you know their entire story, there are more layers added. Great HEA, wonderful secondary characters with more stories to tell. I highly recommend this book.

Steel My Heart

This was a great book and is a great series so far. I can't wait to read about the other guys finding love, as well as Steels father and aunt. Wonderful addition to the larger Special Forces series.

Another good story

I enjoyed the story quite a bit, but the piranha thing? That was interesting! Bantam and Steel are both damaged in some way and working through. Meeting each other was what they both needed in so many ways. Off to book 4!

Beautifully written

I love this series because all of the characters in the books have some kind of disability or tragedy that they had to overcome. The author does it great job of creating a unique plot for each of the books in the series.

I liked how all the disabled vets has special skill sets to enhance each other, whether it's building their houses or having each others backs. This is the reason I gave a 5 star review. There's enough suspense, danger and humor in this story. HEA.
