Cooper Shaw knows exactly what kind of a man he wants, and someone who is interested in being a part time boy isn’t it. He wants a boy who will turn over everything to him. But not easily. He wants to have to work for it. What he wants is a boy with spirit and sass. The kind most Daddies want nothing to do with. What Cooper wants is a challenge. Also known as a brat.
Gavin Prince is not a happy boy. He lost his college scholarship because he was partying too much, but come on can you really have too much fun? Apparently his parents think so. They have cut him off and sent him to live with his uncle until he learns his lesson.
Cooper has had about enough of the poor little rich boy that has taken up residence at his favorite customer’s home. Gavin needs to be taught a lesson, and Daddy Cooper is just the man for the job.
3.5 ““Trust me, precious. You’re all I see.” stars
“I don’t know what you want,” […] “You don’t know what I want? You mean from you this very minute or long-term?” […] “Yeah, because you see those two things are conflicting right this moment. Because what I want this minute is to kiss you. I want to know how you taste as much as I want my next breath, but what I want long-term is to know who Gavin Prince is. What he wants out of life, what his hopes and dreams are, and most of all, I want him to be mine”
Sometimes all I need is a good and fluffy daddy kink book to take my mind out of everything else and this one did the job perfectly. It was a case of the right book at the right time and it really worked for me.
Brief summary Cooper is the landscaper at Gavin’s uncle house, where Gavin is currently staying. Gavin is interested in Cooper and he keeps flirting with him. Cooper thinks that Gavin is a brat that just really needs a daddy, so Cooper volunteers to be Gavin’s daddy and they fall in love.
First, this book is not reinventing anything when it comes to daddy kink books, but I really loved how it was done in this book. This was a really sweet book, with a really gentle and caring daddy and a bratty but still pretty nice boy. And all of it really worked for me.
Also, special mention to Cooper whom was a really good daddy, he was so nice and caring and always listened to Gavin and made sure to give him everything that he wanted and he always made sure that Gavin was happy.
Second, I really enjoyed Gavin and Cooper together. Gavin is rich and is used to being used for his money and I loved how Cooper showed Gavin that he can be so much more than that. I loved how Cooper was the first one to truly care for Gavin and how he Cooper showed how much he cared for Gavin through all of his actions.
Special mention to the sex scenes in the book that were very hot, I really enjoyed them.
Third, This book is pure fluff, low angst and just full of sweet moments and thats what I needed at the time I read it so it really worked for me. It gave me the exact feelings and vibes I was looking for when I picked up the book and it really worked for me. But, It was a little too fluffy for me and I started being a little less engaged in the book towards the end of the book.
I had a lot of fun ready this book and I really enjoyed reading it.
I received a copy of this book, and this is my honest review.
lost me a little more than I expected towards the end. I'm all for low angst, inta-everthing when you know exactly what you're getting into, but there is a line.
I've kept up with this series 'cause sometimes I just need something that I can turn my brain off and enjoy, but with just a little more effort I feel like these could be so much better.
I can appreciate the improvement in the writting itself though, I don't know how many more times I could read the expression "but a few" - it was thankfully absent from this book.
Owen's book is up next and it's going to be the one that could offer up at least a little drama, at least I hope that means it won't fall into place all too easily and quickly (and lazily) as this one.
Book safety down below. This was a fast and easy read, and an enjoyable daddy romance. I liked the characters well enough, but I went in to it expecting a daddy/brat dynamic, and even though it was there at the start, it kind of fell away when the MCs got together.
Overall enjoyable, but it didn’t quite meet my expectations. That’s probably more my own fault than anyone else’s.
An easy read like the rest of the series but I enjoyed this one a little more than the previous ones because Gavin was a little bratty (not fully a brat, though).
That being said, I wouldn’t quite describe Cooper as a “brat tamer” like the blurb does. He does put Gavin in check but Gavin wasn’t all that bratty anyways.
Also, “brat tamer” sounds to me like a reputation — something you’re KNOWN for. Like a proper legend around town. Cooper is definitely not that.
Audiobook review: 3.5 stars I’m beginning to think Kirt Graves’ moaning just isn’t it. Maybe I’m biased but listening to Wyatt Baker going all out for the sex scenes in Trick Roller set the bar incredibly high.
Expect - Grumpy x brat - Light impact play - Found family - Class differences - Daddy kink
In this book, MCs Cooper and Gavin have no relationship other than Gavin showing off his body and Cooper trying not to look while doing yard work where Gavin is visiting. Then Gavin is gone and Cooper is okay about it because Gavin is a teasing, rich brat in his eyes. Then Gavin is back and whiplash fast, Cooper is stating he is the Daddy and Gavin is his boy and it’s for keeps. Huh? Oh, and the sexual part of the relationship starts now! Any tension that was building between them is gone into insta land and I began skimming while reading. This book series has been okay, but this one highlights the simplistic plot lines and the lack of chemistry between the two MCs. Which is too bad as Cooper and Gavin are good characters and I like the trope of poor little rich twink gets tamed by handsome and older alpha. The scenes with friends are simply show ups of old characters and to hint at the next book romance.
This was sweet, but I think these books are all blurring into one. The dynamic here was slightly different than the previous two books, but similar enough that I feel a bit like I'm reading the same relationship on repeat. And like the previous book, the romance here felt very fast too. So while these books are fun, I think I need to take a short break from the series. I'll definitely be checking out the remaining books when I'm looking for something low-angst and sweet though.
Jacki James sucked me into the Blue Collar Daddies world once again... despite being 40 chapters long, it felt like time stood still while I read Cooper and Gavin's story! This is the third book in the series but like the others, can be read as a stand-alone story
4,5 stars Cooper is the third book in the Blue Colar Daddies by Jacki James. This story is about Cooper and Gavin. I loved their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels and very well written.
I really love this series and recommend them all!!
Cooper by Jacki James is the third book in her Blue Collar Daddies series. Gavin, is the son of very rich, snobby parents from New York City. His mother has basically run his life only caring about their status among their friends and using him to get what she wants. He has a trust fund he will get in 3 years but until then she controls his money. He has not been happy at college studying finance as his mother wishes, but wants to pursue a degree in art, mostly learning about pottery, but his mother does not consider this a suitable business for their family so she refuses to pay for it. He doesn’t have many real friends feeling that most of them are using him for his name and money. He spends his time partying and when he fails out of college his mother sends him to live in Texas with his uncle, who is gone most of the time. He thinks he only has to stay there for the summer so he doesn’t do much except laze around the house and pool. Cooper owns his own landscaping business and does work at Gavin’s uncle’s house. Gavin sees him and tries to get his attention, but Cooper ignores him. However, he does seem to have a secret crush on him and as a Daddy thinks he would be the perfect Boy for him because he likes a little brattiness in his Boys. When he learns that Gavin may only be there for the summer he doesn’t pursue him because he is looking for a “forever” Boy like his friends have. When Gavin finds out that his parents are moving to Miami, don’t want him there, and expect him to stay with his uncle, he is very disappointed and decides to make pottery to keep himself occupied until he can figure out a way to get back to New York City. When Cooper finds out he is going to be around he decides to make his intentions toward him known. Gavin has been trying to get his attention so he is all for it. He isn’t a Boy but is willing to learn about becoming one and as their relationship develops he realizes how much he has missed in his past with having someone to care about and for him. Cooper also encourages him to continue with his pottery as he is very gifted in that area. I really enjoyed this book. Ms. James stories are very easy to read and the characters are realistic and likeable. I like the aspect of hurt/comfort and there is a lot in book with Gavin’s past and how Cooper helps him to overcome it and know what a real relationship based on needs and respect is like. Characters from the other Blue Collar Daddies books are also featured in the story as they show Gavin friendship that is not based on how much money he has and as they help and tease Cooper about their relationship. I highly recommend this book and the others in the series and am looking forward to reading the final book when it comes out next year.
This can be read as a standalone. I missed book 2 but I did read book 1 and I preferred that one moreso than this but this was good.
This was a sweet, fun and light, no angst romance with some interesting self-discovery plot as well and some steamy moments too (though they felt rushed to me).
Despite this book being on the short side, I found the beginning slow. The second half was much more enjoyable once they got together. I loved Cooper from the start. He was a great Daddy but I didn't like Gavin at the start. I'm all for Bratty Boys but I'm not a fan of the poor little rich boy got cut off by mommy and now doesn't know what to do, while at the same time is just lying around complaining routine (insert eye roll here). I did like him though once they got together and he transformed into a sweet boy all of a sudden. This was definitely instalove and wish that the relationship was developed more. It felt like they went from having very little contact and no chemisty the first half and then bam love. It was a little mind boggling but like I said I enjoyed the second half and liked their chemistry once together. I do wish the book was longer as the book ended when they were basically just getting started and I wanted more.
I can't say that I would recommend this one but I would recommend book 1. It was great and I am going to go back and read book 2 that I missed cause I did think this book had great world building. There is a great group of friends consisting of Boys and Daddys. I'm looking forward to reading Owen's book next. He seems really interesting and I loved Gavins uncle Gabe and I really hope he is able to find love again.
- a MM romance! age gap, daddy k!nk, very bratty boy, mutual pining, instalove! - i fear the author could of thought of a different nickname then the one used last book lol - oof Gavin was getting on my nerves a tiny bit 😂 - they had a slower build up than the previous two books that i really loved!! - oh good!! he’s changed the nickname - okay i love that they got a proper first date!! and it was really sweet - their first sex scene was hot af - honestly Gavin adapted to daddy k!nk so easy lol - i love how domestic they are together it’s so sweet - how proud Gavin was when Cooper loved his pieces!! that made my heart swell - Christmas was really sweet too even tho they spent it apart, made them care that much more - when Gavin realised he’d been invited because they wanted him there not for his money i genuinely teared up - SO SORRY, HOW MUCH WAS HIS ALLOWANCE?! holy shit - love the relationship that blossomed between Gabe and Gavin too, really started to feel like a family yannoe - i am SO glad Gavin stood up to his mum! it would of been super annoying if they’d just let that fizzle out - the ending was super sweet!! i really really loved this one
No one really knows why a person, who has money, acts the way they do. Is it because they are just that conceited etc or is it a shield? To not let anyone close enough to hurt them and or possibly destroy their fragile heart? Were they raised by a loving family and still turned out to be not a very nice person or was there no love in their childhood? No warmth? No understanding or caring as to what they wanted to do with their lives? Cooper was insanely attracted to Gavin from the beginning, and it only grows once he starts to learn more about him. Gavin wants love, commitment, but his entire life he has been an ATM to people he thought were his friends and a person to control for his parents. Then he met Cooper. All bets were off. His life changed dramatically in a great way. Not only did he find a man who loved him for him, but friends he could hang out with but most of all trust. This was a great story. That is all you are getting out of me. Enjoy!
Kirt Graves does a beautiful job in bringing these men to life. You are easily able to tell whose pov you are in with each chapter.
Cooper & Gavin are a sweet couple who got off on the wrong foot from silly assumptions. Gavin has never been appreciated for who he is from friends or family, only looking for him to be who they want and what they want from him. Cooper has always worked hard running his landscaping business and now is ready to start his family. Togehter they build a life with their fellow daddy and boy friend groups. As with the rest of this series, it a a low angst sweet daddy boy kink story with hard working down to earth men finding their matches.
I know this is the third book though I would say you could read as a standalone so I was kinda interested from the description, and I wanted to read something a bit different from what I usually read especially with this type of dynamic; surprisingly, I didn’t mind it and I love the way Cooper gave Gavin all the time he needed and didn’t push him to be in this type of relationship! Honestly, it was very good so overall I would say give it a try if you’re interested in it too!!
No one had ever really cared all that much about Gavin, really, not even his parents. No wonder he was a brat. I'm glad that Cooper was eventually able to see past all that.
This is just okay: not bad, but not great either. It was a sweet bit of fluff, with 2-D characters and very, very little in the way of dramatic tension. Really, not much happens: a landscaper enters a Daddy/boy relationship with a rich boy who is spending time with his uncle. They get along just fine and don't have any significant troubles to complicate the plot.
The editing/proofreading is a bit better than the earlier volumes in this series; however, there were too many laying/lying mistakes to excuse. POV shifts a bit too often.
What a boring book. The first half drags with nothing happening and long separations, then everything suddenly crashes together at breakneck speed. The timeline gives whiplash. Gavin teases Cooper all summer, then suddenly it’s Thanksgiving and Cooper hasn’t seen him? Why is Gavin even still there? Then suddenly it’s Christmas and they’re decorating the house also coming closer together. So confusing. Tropes & tags in end.
● im happy they date first and then sleep. They dance over a long period of time, then date until Christmas. A lot of nothing happens throughout and lots of tangents taken.
♦Story- 3.2⭐, Characters- 4⭐, Sex- 1.5 rounded up to 2⭐, Epilogue- n/a⭐
● Their back and forth flirting was nice. Gavin is flamboyant and was flaunting it all! ● All i know is that the Daddies were all okay. They were teasing Copper. All the boys Ben, Travis & Simon were good too. ● Also, this is a bit angsty. Because it has a controlling and selfish parental figure (mother). i can tolerate exes but parents like this give me icks.
♦Reason it took me a long time to finish this is cuz of Ryder's bitch of a partner. he's a terrible guy and it's always all about him in any and all the books i've read so far. The author is clearly biased, shoving him into every book and forcing characters to praise his “goodness” while he’s fundamentally toxic. Can't even read others' book in peace and the dude keeps being the centrepiece for it all.
Thanksgiving? He's the star. Now Christmas? Yep you guessed it right- it's the same mofo. Ugghhhh i had to skip large sections just to avoid his insufferable presence.
♦And then i found this sentence and didn't know what to make of it:
and he was just about as sweet as a boy could be.
1st of all, he’s a bitch and he was never a “boy.” He vehemently denied being a "boy" and refused Ryder the right to be a "Daddy," saying he doesn’t like all this, yet the narrative tries to sell him as the ideal.
2nd, the amount of gaslighting the other characters have to do convince how good Ryder's partner is, when in truth, all you have to do is read Ryder's book. Yeah the guy apparently likes to cook for everyone. Big fucking deal. Doesn't make him a good or selfless person tho! How he treated Ryder was still selfish and bad. If that's the definition of a good “boy”, then that makes Ben, Travis and even Gavin, all bad boys. Oops!
♦The fact that Ben is the actual sweetest but he has this said about him. It's clear who the author prefers but then she should've written her fav character as a better person😬 and not like an asshole. Ben is the actual sweetie. But ig he'll never get the limelight.
I knew Ben the least of the guys so far because he was a little more reserved than the others
♦And this weird uncle’s weird speech about knowing who Gavin is as a person now. He wasn't even there in the span of this entire book and suddenly at the end his says this. Lmao brother where was you??
“I wouldn’t have released the entire trust to you. Not until you came here and I got to know you and got to see that you’re mature enough to handle it.”
// i rate sex different from sex acts (which i don’t rate) and all my reviews reflect that. The views are my personal and may not align with yours. Only read if you’re ok with that. Else, please skip this next part. For more info on smut, check my
♦There are 3 sex scenes. Happens at 58% with some nice foreplay. But the entire thing felt more like a quickly told narration than taking the time to feel the characters and their intimacy. In a blink all is over. 2nd is mute receiver + receiver's pov. 🙄 3rd much better, spanking, head + extended scene. This also had 2 sex acts.
Yeah, not happy with this one and i'm guessing moving on it will be the same case so i'll be missing out on all the other daddies. All bcuz of one freaking bitch.
📒Tropes & tags: •Daddy x brat, •care taking, •rich x rich, •gay x gay, •grumpy/sunshine, •age gap, •no breakup, •no cheating, •size difference, •christmas, •slow burn, •spanking, •strict roles, •dating, •begging (in sex).
This is the third book in the 'Blue Collar Daddies' series but can definitely be read as a standalone. It does contain a few moments with the couples from the previous books but nothing you can't still navigate even if you haven't read their stories. From the outset, Cooper and Gavin had great chemistry. I loved the tension between the pair, how much of a brat Gavin appeared and how he was able to get under Cooper's skin. I also really enjoyed that we got to see a deeper side to Gavin; that he was more than just a rich boy sent away from home. I developed a real soft spot for him and was rooting for a HEA between the pair.
To be honest, the only thing stopping me from rating it higher was that it was actually a bit too sweet - from the blurb I thought there would be more 'bratty' moments for Cooper to address. In reality, it was a bit like as soon as they declared interest in each other and started dating, all brattiness left the building and they were just super sweet together all the time! Yes, there was 1 small occasion where Gavin pushed things, but that was like a drop in the ocean. It actually stood out as slightly standalone because it didn't fit with everything else that had happened with them together as a couple (although it was very hot!).
Overall, I'd recommend this to others who enjoy sweet MM romance. It can be read as part of the series but also works as a stand alone too.
Cooper is a landscaper and Gavin is a rich boy who was used to people only wanting him for his money. His parents have sent him off to Texas to stay with his uncle. Gavin thought it would only be for the summer, but it turns out that his parents had actually banished him from their lives. Out of sight ...out of mind. By the time that Gavin got and digested this news he had met Cooper...who never wanted a cent of his money...he just wanted Gavin...for just who he was.
I have really enjoyed all three of these books so far, especially when we learned that Cooper is a "Daddy", and he wants Gavin for his very own...his special "boy". Gavin is still being controlled by his parents, and he soon learns that he's not ever welcome to come home...he has been forever banned from their lives to Texas...but that suits him just fine. Cooper has his back and his heart and did such a beautiful job of bringing Gavin out of his shell and allowing him to discover who he wanted to be.
Each book not only has a new couple for us to meet but brings back couples and characters from the previous books, so we still get to visit and find out what is happening to them. It’s not necessary to have read the others in this series, but I can honestly say that they are just as awesome as this one, I can recommend them all. Overall, this series can be described as sweet, no-angst daddy/boy stories, always with a happy ending.
The Brat is really a precious Boy! This has to be my favorite so far of this series and I have loved them all! Cooper is the big sweet owner of a landscaping company that is taking care of Gavin our seemingly spoiled brat rich boy's Uncle Gabe's house where he is staying for the summer. I loved their first interactions together.. Gavin acts all frustrated by Cooper but then of course sets out to Flirt and sashay around in front of him to try to catch his attention! I enjoyed having both of their POV's as this was not an insta-love. there was insta-attraction but they did not actually get together intimately until they got to know one another which actually happens more toward the early middle of the story. So a beautiful build up of getting to know these guys. Perfect for the length of the book! These two are sweet and steamy together. I liked the use of Daddy in this story. It was more about Cooper helping Gavin gain self confidence and learn what it is like to have someone truly care about you! OH.. just a note the story happen's around both Thanksgiving & Christmas so A bit of a Holiday theme in there with decorating! Loved seeing Lucas & Ben, Ryder & Brennan and all the other guys! I believe Owen's story is next! I received an ARC of this book cannot wait for the next one! PS... I would actually love a story about maybe Uncle Gabe finding a new love!! Just saying!!!!
Cooper is looking for a long-term relationship, not a fling with his client's spoiled nephew Gavin, who - to his frustration - pushes all his buttons. Gavin has never been in a D/s relationship, but knows he wants to pursue more with the older man he can't get out of his head.
Their firm-handed Daddy/bratty boy dynamic is fun and playful, coupled with a good deal of sweetness and understanding beneath. Gavin has some (low-key) self-worth issues to overcome courtesy of his upbringing, which he does with Cooper's love, his uncle Gabe's support, and the new friendships he forms within Cooper's Daddies/boys friends group.
While this book is a quick read, the story felt a little slow to start. I would've enjoyed more tension and desire build-up between Cooper and Gavin over the summer rather than the time-jump to winter, but their actually getting to know each other and bonding during the holidays was enjoyable.
My favorite aspect of the story - and the series - is the friendships between the boys and between their Daddies that tie the books together. I'd like to see Gavin's uncle Gabe get his own HEA sometime, too. I received an advance reading e-copy of this book and have left this honest review voluntarily. (Also read in KU.)
This is the third book in the series but like the others, can be read as a stand-alone story. Cooper is a landscaper and Gavin is a rich boy used to people only wanting him for his money. Banished to Texas by his parents, maybe Gavin will find something he didn’t know he needed.
I have loved all of the books in this series so far and this is no exception. Cooper is a hardworking man who owns his own landscaping business and is a Daddy looking for his for keeps boy. Gavin is a trust-fund boy, controlled by his parents and sent to Texas when he does something they do not approve of.
I loved how Cooper brought Gavin out of his shell and allowed him to discover who he wanted to be. I also really like how each book makes reference to the couples and characters from the previous books so you still get to find out what happens to them. It’s not essential to have read the others in this series but they are just as awesome as this one so I recommend them all!
Overall this is a sweet, no-angst daddy/boy story with a HEA and I really enjoyed it.
Not all Daddies need to be CEO's with unlimited funds to spoil their boys. Jacki James' Blue Collar Daddies series is proof of that. Books one and two were quite enjoyable, but book three has been the best of the bunch with the series first "brat". Galvin is a poor little rich boy banished to Texas after kissing the wrong boy in school. At first it's supposed to be temporary. So he's a little bored, but hasn't bothered to explore Austin. Cooper runs his own landscape business, and only handles the occasional customer. Running into Galvin, whether in next to nothing speedos or revealing yoga pants, has Cooper's interest raised. Their interactions cause the Daddy Dom to believe that Galvin is a boy in desperate need of a Daddy. They come together to decorate Galvin's uncle's home for Christmas. And sweet sparks fly. This is a sweet, low angst story. James has a deft hand when writing about Daddies. They're never boring. Her side characters are always interesting. It was a total joy to read.
This was ok. I don't know if this will make sense, but while I definitely saw the chemistry between Cooper and Gavin, the actual romantic feelings were almost nonexistent somehow. Kind of like they were great "enemies"-to-friends but stayed platonic even though they started a relationship, had sex, and said that they loved each other. I guess I liked the beginning more because there were more nuances to their dynamic, but once they started dating, everything started to wilt and fit a little too neatly. A small portion of angst would have gone a long way in this story.
I'm not sure what exactly could have been done differently, but I still enjoyed this as a fluffy read. However, the Daddy/boy parts seemed to be more thrown into the story than a part of their relationship...which can work, but a major point of this series is that it follows a group of Daddies looking for/finding their boys. I wish that dynamic and how they settled into it had been shown a lot more than just the paragraph in Gavin's POV where he briefly mentions how they discussed limits and rules.
After being teased all summer by his neighbor's nephew, Cooper is asked to decorate the neighbor's home for the holidays. Cooper, cover, is a big, strong bear, a Daddy who needs a brat to tame. Gavin, staying at his Uncle's, needs his life straightened out, and he has decisions to make.
As Cooper begins decorating prep, he is working in close quarters with Gavin. They learn about each other, and Cooper sees that Gavin has been asked to tow-the-line by his parents his whole life, and Cooper wants Gavin to just be himself and discover his passion for his future work. He encourages Gavin's love of pottery, and later, Gavin stands up to his father, which is great. When our men have their sexy times, they are hot, hot, hot, and Daddy has found his boy, and vice versa.
Emotions take over and it's a happy match. This is a terrific mm romance. Enjoy !
Landscaper and Daddy Cooper Shaw would like a boy who is going to turn over everything to him but is also a brat so it is not easy for him. Wealthy Gavin Prince is not happy because his parents forced him to study what they wanted him to, then when he was bored and partying they stopped paying for this school. Now he has been cut off and sent to live with his uncle. Cooper has just about had enough of the boy who has taken residence at his favourite customer's house and who just wants to tempt him. He needs to be taught a lesson.
I enjoyed the fire between these two and can understand why Gavin was how he was given his upbringing and the total lack of love and care that his parents had for him. I loved his uncle and I really hope he gets to find happiness again. I loved the relationship between Cooper and Gavin and how Cooper was strict but also quite indulgent when he could be (which was a great combination). Easy to read, feel and understand. Includes an MM relationship containing mature content and a BSDM-like DDLB dynamic.
I was eager to read Cooper's story as this the 3rd so far in the daddy/boy series all have been enjoyable. Cooper has his own landscaping company that he works very hard at and goes the extra mile to keep his customers and crew happy. One of his customers has his brat nephew staying with him and Cooper really wants to put him in line as only a good Daddy can. Gavin Prince is the son of rich parents and is used to being ignored by them and taken advantage of by his so called 'friends' in NY. His mum send him to his uncle's house to teach him a lesson. He is a bit of a brat when he first arrives last his uncle's but then again stays at home as he doesn't know anyone there and thinks its temporary. This is a bit of a slow burn but I loved how Cooper is so good for him and the other characters form the series welcome Gavin into their fold giving him love and care he never received from his real family.
