Sandy, the youngest sibling of Gator Girlz, Inc., has worshipped her older sister Cam all her life and wanted nothing more than to be just like her hero. Footprints provides readers with Sandy's story of growing up in the Bayous of Louisiana. When the devastating floods of 2016 impact the Baton Rouge area, Cam and Sandy join the Cajun Navy to help rescue families trapped in the rampant floodwaters. The story also revisits Sandy's victory over Bubba Gump and how Sandy's injuries started her down the path to find the love of her life. Food, adventures, and great family relationships fill the pages of Footprints.
I am a native Floridian who is temporarily (I hope) displaced in Memphis, TN. for work purposes, however I hope to make it home to a partner of 17 years and our family as quickly as I can. I enjoy photography as a hobby along with spinning a good tale.
I am American by birth and Southern by the Grace of God. LOL I enjoy writing about the south and creating characters and events that I hope my readers enjoy as much as I have in creating them.
Sandy and her older sister Cam are helping with rescue attempts after flooding leaves their area in a disastrous state. While helping with the rescue Sandy and Cam reflect on their childhood and strengthen their sisterly bond, while having an adventure of a lifetime, making new friends, and celebrating past victories.
With Footprints being Book 4 in the Strong Southern Women series, of which I haven’t ready any of the other stories in the series, I was meeting all the characters for the first time and am excited now to discover the rest of the series. The beauty of the book was that Ali gave enough detail in the story to understand the characters and their situation without needing to know what happened in the previous books.
I loved the connection between Sandy and Cam, both sisters that were able to offer the other help, encouragement, advice, and support on different things. They made a great team and you could real feel how much admiration Sandy had for her sister. The fact they could reminisce, help others, and discuss their own relationships, while getting involved in a most selfless situation was lovely, and despite the dire situation there was a lot of warmth, love, and fun to be had.
You could really tell how much they both cared about what they were getting involved in, their family, and each other. It was so refreshing to read a story that was different. Focused on relationships between two siblings, rather having a full blown romance happening during a desperate time. There was a romance element, but it was a sideline, which suited well and added to the sisters having something further to connect about and consider when getting involved in the rescue.
I really enjoyed the story and hope to read more of the series in future, as it was adventurous, dramatic and packed with all the charm and niceties you would expect of such kind, friendly folks.
The Gator Girls give family a whole meaning and lots of feelings.
Cam and Sandy are just best of friends but being sisters make them even more. The St. Angelo women have made a magical story of love, connectedness, serving each other and the community. Strong women who live off the Bayou, a landscape that is a part of them. Ali Spooner has weaved more of their story and I just love this family. The characters are so caring and connected to each other by a deep love. It has been such a beautiful series, I have cried, laughed, felt my heart swell with each book. Book 4 brought hours of togetherness that show the best of southern caring for each other. The experiences they share are unlike other places. I loved this story so much and it ended to soon. It can be read alone but it is the best series.
I really like Ali Spooner. Her books are very good and I enjoy them. But not this one. It was a total rehash of Book 3 in the series. If you've read Book 3 , don't bother with this one. I am so disappointed. I will still follow, buy and read Ali Spooner books, and hope that Footprints is the only one without merit. It was a waste of time and money.
I honestly love the family and I really enjoyed reading about them. Also, I loved the fact that this book helped fill-in a few of the blanks from the previous books. The downside is that some of the detail from book 3 didn’t remain the same in book 4. I’m not listing any examples here in case you haven’t read the series. I don’t believe in giving out spoilers.
I enjoyed reading this continuing saga of the St Angelo sisters. It would be lovely if there were actually families like this. Some may come close, hopefully.
I really loved Footprints. This is book four in the Strong Southern Women series. All you ever wanted to about making shine and catching gators is in this book. Excellent!
