Just finished Part One and well even though this is 1 book it definitely could have been separated to a trilogy. I’m gonna treat the review that way and update after each part.

Wow! What a crazy beginning that has you wanting to stay awake just to finish. I will say part One took a little over 5 hours to read. Lyla and Kyle are best friends, since before birth, and it’s the telling of their story. It’s told in her POV and starts in their senior year and jumps back and forth with the past and continues up until the start of freshman year in college.

Part Two. So let’s jump right into life and the ups and downs of every relationship times 3! The amount of work effort and trust that goes into everyday life can sometimes be overwhelming and lead to paths that shouldn’t be traveled. This book has a little bit of everything in it and can go from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. Crazy plot twist and the always wanting to know what could possibly happen next will have you unwilling to put this book down! Part two took about two and half hours to read and I’m jumping straight in to last Part 3.

Part 3 is about 3 and a half hours of pure emotional hell. I can honestly say I was second guessing everything I read and while this part has so many twist and turns it could be an amusement park ride I felt like I knew how it was going to end. Well it didn’t end exactly like I thought it would but it did have me screaming at it and my kid making fun of me for getting emotional over a book.

Overall I feel like the book was a few hundred pages to long and would have loved for it to come from each one their pov which is why I’ve given it 4 stars, also the spice to me is only 2.5

“Him & I” begins when Lyla is in high school. Her childhood best friend, Kyle, has already stolen her heart. She still has crushes on others, including Kyle’s friend Declan, but she will always be in love with Kyle. He is sweet and innocent, whereas Declan is more worldly and seems to have some dark secrets. Declan, however, is determined to win Lyla.

Consequences of sharing more than a first kiss with Kyle immediately put their lives on the fast track. Then a tragedy strikes and Lyla is suddenly overwhelmed, and Declan takes this moment in time to step up and help her through the pain. As the situation resolves itself, Lyla has to decide what to do regarding her feelings for both men. The decision is a complicated, yet creative one.

In the second section, the trio are now adults and still heavily immersed in each other’s lives. The men have become professional football players. While Kyle has maintained both his naiveté and loyalty to Lyla, Declan seems to be battling demons. Things come to a head when they enter into the third portion of the story. It is here that the triangle of characters finally gain a full understanding of Declan’s demons. There are no simple solutions, and all three try their best to work together in order to make it through the roughest spots.

I really enjoyed losing myself in “Him & I.” Told in three parts, this huge book (well over eight hundred pages) could actually be made into a trilogy. I am happy it wasn’t, though, because it enabled me to read all three sections at once. Author Alyssa Milani created a very realistic story that captures the essence of who we are as we go through our various stages of life. When the protagonists were teens, I could feel their angst and clearly remember my own. As they moved on into adulthood, they matured, but childhood issues still haunted them and continued to affect their lives. I found this part relatable as well. Moving into the third section, the protagonists had to start making decisions based upon what was best for the family, and they couldn’t just follow their hearts as they used to. I enjoyed being able to watch them all evolve. The drama that enters in was also very creative, interesting, and inspiring throughout.

Although this novel is quite lengthy, I found it to move quickly because the story is fast paced. I really enjoyed this novel that sounds like a coming-of-age story, however, there are extremely erotic scenes which I think make this too mature for young readers. Older readers, like myself, will love these intense scenes! This is my first novel by Alyssa Milani, but I don’t plan on it being my last. Adult readers who enjoy romance, drama, and erotica will love this!

The author Alyssa Milani has painted a high school drama with a steamy touch. It is not a regular story but a tale of two friends who grew up together. What goes on between them makes you wonder, if their friendship is effectively ruined or is it the beginning of something beautiful. To find out the answers, you have to know the story.

The character who is at the forefront is Lyla. She has been friends with Kyle for a long time, even before she was born. Theirs is one of those friendships, where their parents were pregnant at the same time and so when they were born, it was like they did everything together. From friends to lovers, sounds simple enough, but that is not all there is to the story. Lyla had a crush on Declan O' Connel and Kyle had a crush on a girl called Nancy. But when Kyle expressed his feelings, one thing led to another, and Kyla and Lyla became friends with benefits. That's not how they wanted it to be but they are not sure how much do they want. Lyla has to choose between her friend and her crush. The story keeps too involved in the unfolding love life of the two characters. The writing style is more appropriate for an adult audience. It is written from Lyla's point of view.

This novel is a light read and although it is a little lengthy and certain details could be skipped. The story is interesting with the blend of a high school drama and a steamy narrative. It is about the dilemmas many teenagers face and the choices they have to make. If you want a long read for the weekend, this is a book you could pick up. Some people could find the story intriguing and worth reading.

Him & I written by the author Alyssa Milani is a romance drama written in three parts. Main character of the story is Lyla. Lyla and Kyle Stanford have been friends since their mothers were pregnant with them. Lyla lost both of her parents at the age of eight. Kyle's parents took care of her for some time until her aunt and uncle came to the city. Lyla and Kyle had experienced many of their first together, either it be kiss, making out, etc. When they turned eighteen, Kyle had a crush on Nancy and Lyla had a crush on Declan O'Connell. But Lyla and Kyle have feelings for each other too.

One day, Kyle asked Lyla for her virginity to which Lyla said yes. For three months, they went on like that, and became friends with benefits. But they are still not a couple. Does Kyle love Lyla? Will Lyla choose Kyle or Declan?

Read this intriguing story. You won't feel like putting this aside while reading. Story is gripping. High school or college students will enjoy it more as they could relate well to it. I loved reading about Kyle and Lyla's sleepovers. Writing style of the author is professional. She creates an interesting world in the story which makes the readers forget the real world for some time. Story involves adult content too, so I like to recommend it to adult readers only.
