There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.

Entertaining dwarf listening 🎶🔰
The last novel in the series, with Johnny Walker, Lisa, and Johnny's cousin continue to investigate the case in California and Nevada. There is lots of action, misdirection, and violence as the trio solves the problem and bring it to a conclusion. I would highly recommend this series and authors too readers of fantasy haunting adventure novels 👍🔰. 2023 😀👒☺🏡

Well, this was a belter of a story, and it finished off the series in great style!
I'm already sad that I've reached the end of the series, though, and I'm hoping that, somewhere in the Oriceran series' that I've not read, yet, that I'll come across Johnny, Lisa, Rex, Luther, and even Charlie, once again.
As with every Carr-Anderle series that I've read, so far, this one entertained me, taught me, and caught my attention so well, that it was almost painful to put my Kindle down, to sleep, or eat, or all the other stuff we need to do!
This last book of the series, though, really caught me out, when I thought I knew what would happen next, and kept me guessing almost to the end.
I don't think that this WILL be the last time I do actually visit this crew, though, as I've a couple of books left to read, in the partnered series to this one: Academy of Necessary Magic, where Johnny's Ward, Amanda, is having her own story told.
So, at least I'll have that!
As I want to get on to continue reading it, I'll go straight away, on to book number Seven of this series: 'Shadow in the Backwater', to find out what Amanda's been up to, while I read about Johnny and the gang.
Once I've finished this, I'll catch you on the flip side, and let you know what I think about it!

Good ending to a fun series
I do hope there will be more books though, as this series was a really fun read. Don’t start reading any of the books after midnight though, or you may be up until 4am too.
This book cleared up a lot of the loose ends for the series, but again I hope we get to read more about these characters lives in future books. This had a ton of action, lots of great fun, and was definitely worth losing sleep over. I recommend this book and series.

Great series.
Sadly we come to the end of a great series. It ends with a bang, as you would expect, and wraps thins up very nicely, no fade to black here. Here's hoping Martha stays healthy and continues to provide us with the same fantastic books she has so far (please don't leave us alone with Michael).

Another great series
I will miss Johnny, his dogs Rex and Luther, and his girlfriend Lisa. This series was a lot of fun mixed with tons of action and magic. The book ended the series on a good note and I hope the characters show up again, maybe in a different series. I am glad there will be more series coming from two of my favorite authors and can't wait to start the next one.

Sad
Is this truly the last book of the series? I will miss the shenanigans of the hounds and the wrath of Johnny Walker as he tries to assert his own perspective with Lisa. She’s been a calming influence on Johnny as he continues to solve mysteries and close cases. Don’t let it be the last.

Absolutely fabulous.
What a great finale to an excellent series.
I loved the way the characters personalities developed throughout the books.
I'm was another series is over, but there are always more books to read by Martha Carr and Michael Anderle.
I highly recommend this series/book.
