A great, darkly comic novel, from the creator of the Wonky Inn series, Jeannie Wycherley, The Curious Incident at the Pig and Pepper is a treat you simply must not miss. Get it today!
The Curious Incident at the Pig and Pepper, #4 - Definitely intriguing and immersive, this is a dark read murder wise. Interesting story lines and variety of characters kept me reading until the last word. 5*
Ms. Wycherley's writing style is conversational and casual. Her likeable and interesting characters develop at a good rate and gain more depth as the series continues. Her fast paced, funny and intriguing story lines do a good job setting the foundations from which all her series are build with seamless blendings of the old with the new. There's plenty of intrigue and suspense with twists you just don't see coming sometimes. The original reviews can be found under the individual books or the series.
Wonderland Detective Agency series: Dead as a Dodo, #1 - I enjoy reading books by this author. There are characters from The Wonky Inn series. Better than a Cozy mystery. 4*
The Rabbit Hole Murders, #2 - Sadly, I will be reading books 2 and 5, and 3 and 4 out of order. Reading Rabbitt, which takes place two months after Dodo ends, was still extremely interesting even with all the spoilers from Pool. So read in order to get the best experience; spoilers are rotten, like the friend who told you everything happening next in a new movie. 4*
Tweedledumb and Tweedledie, #3 - This such an interesting series, which must be read in order for the foundations and the old story lines continue with each new addition. Good mystery and suspense as more comes to light. 5*
A Tragic Tea Party, #5 - Absolutely intriguing. As Ms. Wycherley grows in her craft as a writer, this series grows in depth leaving the Cozy genre far behind. This is a must read, as all are in this series, before The Pool of Tears. This awesome read carries into The Pool. 5*
The Pool of Tears, #6 - Having only read Dead as a Dodo, #1, I was a bit confused by references in the beginning. Later I started over. It did not take long to get immersed in the pages. The missing past did not matter. 5* Wonderland Detective Agency series end.
Wonky Inn Series: The Wonkiest Witch: Wonky Inn Book #1 - This is my first read by this author and I enjoyed the story. 4*
The Ghosts of Wonky Inn #2 - As much as I liked the first book, I loved this one. 5*
Weird Wedding At Wonky Inn #3 - 4* Fearful Fortunes and Terrible Tarot #4 - 4* The Mystery of the Marsh Malaise #5 - 5* The Mysterious Mr Wylie #6 – 4* The Great Witchy Cake Off #7 – 4* Vengeful Vampire at Wonky Inn #8 - 4* The Witch Who Killed Christmas - 4* Magic, Murder and a Movie Star, #10 - 5* Judge, Jury and Jailhouse Rockcakes, #11 - 5* A Midsummer Night’s Wonky, #12 - 4* Halloween Heebie-Geebies, #13 - 5* Owl I Want for Witchmas is Boo - 5* Oh Mummy!, #14 - 5* Pieces of Hate, #15 - 5* The Faery of Witchmas Past - 5* Wonky Inn Series End.
Midnight Garden - What an intriguing story, which I would expect to find on the original Twilight Zone of the Sixties. A dark suspense story that is difficult to put down. Do not expect the same genre as the Wonky Inn Series, they are not as dark and do contain humor. 5*
A spot of theater just might be the thing our heroine needs to relax, but that would be a lot easier if the star of the show didn't get murdered.
This is book four in the series, but it is written as a standalone, so you should have no problems starting here.
I have loved the author's Wonky Inn series and this new series has the same vibe. The paranormal detective agency is a great vehicle as it give us an opportunity to explore strange cases and even stranger characters. Tying it into Wonderland just adds another level of weird, which is alright with me. The book couples a mystery with a great sense of humor along with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. I love the combination as it makes for a delightful read. Overall, another great entry in the series and I am definitely looking forward to more.
Highly recommended.

The Curious Incident at The Pig and Pepper is another instalment in the series starring Elise Liddell. She lives in Tumbletown, a place that resembles the towns we know but magic, ghosts and other paranormal elements are a part of that world. The Pig and The Pepper is a pub, and Elise happened to be there when a group of gliding, ghostly monks or pilgrims beheaded a man without leaving a trace of blood. The strange incident seems to be connected with murders of famous people, in which the crime scenes contained graffiti about living a simple life. Elise finds out about an austerity cult and decides to join it in order to investigate.
This plot was quite interesting, the cult is chilling, the writing is perfectly polished, the story is well-paced, and the world Wycherley builds is a quirky and fascinating blend of familiar, mundane elements and quirky imagination. I enjoyed this a lot.

When Elise goes on evening with her ex boss to see a psychic no one can see the bloodshed in the future, not even the psychic! All the murders are claimed to be for the betterment of human kind that we should live life to the rule of Austeros - live simply - live well. When Wizard Dodo's ghost recognises the name as along dead cult, Elise investigates, and she goes in deep! What will she discover, I assure you it's not pleasant! it involves the removal of socks for one!
This is a slightly darker investigation for the Wonderland Detective crew, and it will take help from human and ghost alike to keep everyone safe, Even those who do not involve the rest of the Agency on her investigations!
As I mentioned Wycherley has taken this book in a slightly darker route than previous Wonderland, and for sure the Wonky Inn. But it is an excellent entry, it really makes a lot more of Elise's investigative background! I loved it!!!!
A Roller Coaster Ride of Fun Fantastic Paranormal Cozy Mystery!!!

Gleeful Goblin Review: As someone who grew up religious fundie AND who's parents were in Amway all my life it's fair to say I have a fascination/horror relationship with #TrueCrime. This book reads as a magical thriller/mystery with Elise getting pulled into the seedy underbelly of a group that could be straight out of a Hulu or Netflix documentary. The surface is all cheerful minimalist, devoting yourself to simplicity, etc. They even have dorms because all of the Children "share everything" and are encouraged to give things up "voluntarily" like speaking, sleeping, skipping already scant meals, comfortable/warm clothing, on and on. Truly classic 60 Minutes Special Report behaviors.
The book still has plenty of amazing magical elements, good character development, and the story isn't total grim dark by any means. I absolutely loved this book and I highly recommend it! 5/5 Stars
Each book is very fun to read. You will love the awesome characters personalities. Elise Liddel is a spunky witch private investigator. She owns the Wonderland Detective agency in Tumble Town London. Elise used to work for the Ministry of Witches PD. She helps her former boss Monkton solve tough cases. She also has a huge crush on him. Now she has a new mystery to solve. A famous Psychic named Madame Majestique was murdered. Monkton calls Elise for help. You will love this funny,Exciting, and charming paranormal mystery romance series.
Received as an audio to review from Story Origin, this is an honest review.
Another gorgeous, harrowing and witty case that Elise Liddel and her colleagues have gotten themselves into that's wonderfully narrated by Joanna Lee.
The sudden death of a renowned psychic in Tumble Town has left the place in shock but it's what Elise and her former boss witness at the Pig and Peeper bar that leaves Elise truly disturbed. Discovering exactly what's the motive behind a dangerous set of ghostly monks puts Elise into the cross hairs of a very bizarre cult in an undercover assignment that gives Elise a first hand experience it how dark some individuals abusive manipulation of others can be.
The Curious Incident at the Pig and Pepper was a thoroughly enjoyable listen! Even though I haven’t caught up on books 2 and 3 yet, the story was easy to follow and kept me intrigued from start to finish. Jeannie Wycherley delivers a well-paced mystery with just the right amount of suspense and clever twists.
Joanna Lee’s narration was a standout—her expressive delivery and character voices added depth and personality to the story. I was completely drawn in and didn’t want to stop listening.
Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys a smart, entertaining mystery with great narration. I’m looking forward to catching up on the rest of the series!
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
Ex-Ministry of Witches detective, Elise Liddell, is having a night out with her ex-boss to attend the show of clairvoyant, Madame Majestique. Instead, Madame Majestique’s body is found and Elise joins the team to investigate. Other celebrities are also being murdered now. Is there a secret cult that needs to be exposed?
Enjoy the engaging characters and fast-paced story line with enough mystery to grip the reader’s attention until the end. This author’s books always give us a wonderful mystery with the right balance of suspense and intrigue to keep you wanting more.
Solid 4.5 star Elise and her trusty rag tag team has a new case to solve and we are once again thrown into the crazy and fun yet darker world this time of Tumble Town and those that inhabit this. I actually enjoyed this being a little darker than the others in the series but this new case and those involved make it a necessary but you still get the good bits you love about this series including plenty of laughs, quirky characters and a story that takes you down the rabbit hole trying to work out who the bad guy is.

Audiobook: I enjoyed this mystery as much as the others in this series. I was transfixed as Elise Liddell began one of her most puzzling cases, and I was biting my nails as she worked to solve her case. I liked that there were some amusing quips sprinkled throughout the story, and the unusual cast of paranormal characters. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I was entertained by Joanna Lee's narration as her performance brought the characters to life. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
Lively doesn't begin to describe this non-stop action packed mystery...and when I say mystery I mean as in you are in the middle of the ongoing investigation with murders going off around you. With Dodo, the wizard ghost knowing more than he is saying, Snitch bending over backward to help DI Lizzie, her ex partner now ghost detective - come partner in her new PI business doing the investigating surely she will be on top of this case in no time? Entertaining, clean, witchy, ghostly fun. Narrated beautifully by Joanna Lee, this story will keep your attention no problems. Recommended well written series by Jeannie Wycherley.
A night out at the theater? What could go wrong? For ex-Ministry of Witches detective Elise Liddell, a relaxing evening turns into a new case when the star of the show is murdered. The hunt for the killer pulls her into a world of robed specters and secretive monks, but with her eccentric friends by her side, anything is possible. This fourth book in the series has the same zany, charming vibe as the author's Wonky Inn books and is packed with humor, mystery, and quirky characters. With a delightful mix of twists and turns, The Curious Incident of the Pig and Pepper is another fantastic entry that you won't want to put down.
Elise is helping Detective Monkton Wyld of Tumble Town's MOWPD solve mysteries and murders - a visit to a show by clairvoyant Madame Majestique sees the beginning of a series of murders - one commited right in front of them by what appears to be a group of monks. Are these murders connected? How and why? Will Elise be able to solve this mystery by infiltrating what appears to be a cult, or will it cost her her life? How will Minsk be able to help her? Loving these stories!

What a confounding series of cases! DC Elise Liddell has quite the daunting task ahead of her. Find the elusive followers of an ancient madman and find out how famous people are dying. I was beginning to wonder if Wizard Dodo was ever going to be any help at all or if he would just be the resident ghostly annoyance. Turns out he has some very valuable information! I wonder if he will end up having an actual role in the agency…hmmm… I loved reading this newest adventure and can’t wait for the next one!
Elise happened to be at the Pig and Pepper pub when a group of ghostly monks or pilgrims beheaded a man without leaving a trace of blood. The strange incident seems to be connected with murders of other famous people and as Elise investigates she uncovers a mysterious cult. Can Elise join it in order to investigate further?
Being a huge fan of the Wonky Inn series I was happy to see the Wonderland Detective Agency series!
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This is the fourth thrilling instalment of the Wonderland Detective Agency.
Elise and her numerous quirky friends and sidekicks deal with a slightly darker problem in Tumble Town than in the previous books. Nonetheless it still has some laugh out loud moments despite the malevolent monks causing trouble.
This is a good read but it did take me a little while to get into the story. I definitely recommend it to all fans of this genre.
Terrific series so far. It keeps my attention the way the stories unfold. Elise with her ragtag associates track down killers. It's a fun series to read with themes associated with Alice in Wonderland. I would recommend this book.

I'm so looking forward to the next book in this wonderful series. This series has likeable characters in a setting with infinite possibilities for mysteries to solve. The author is a master of creating a vivid picture with words. She includes smells whenever describing some locations and it's easier to imagine the feel of the setting.
Another great book in this series. Lots of murders, new characters and Elise going undercover. At first you can’t see any relationship between the murders but as Elise, her crew and Monkton delve further the secrets are discovered.

A witty, fun and entertaining cozy. I love the world and the main characters of this series. Another mystery to solve in the most creative way. All the characters are woven together so well. I just love this series! I listened to this in audiobook and the narrator is excellent! She brings all the characters to life and makes this book shine with her animated voice.
My only complaint , these books go by to swiftly. I just get in the groove and it's almost to the end! This series is one of my favorites . I will be waiting on the next one.
The Curious Incident at The Pig and Pepper is the fourth book in the Wonderland Detective Agency series. Quirky characters, murder, mystery, and magic combine for a delightful read in this paranormal cozy mystery. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
Laugh out loud fun, witty and engaging mystery filled with danger, excitement, action-packed twists and turns. An edge of your seat journey that kept your heart pounding and wondering what will happen next.
Elsie is on her new adventures but this time things take a darker turn. It was great to see some of the old characters but lots of new ones as well. This is definitely a page turner and couldn’t put it down
