The pack transition from Dark Sky to Blackwood had been smoother than anyone expected. Unfortunately, it didn’t stay that way. New threats to the pack have kept them on their toes but an enemy no one saw coming is worse than they could’ve expected..
Evie Daniels had a family who loved her, a best friend who would do anything for her, and a mate who would stop at nothing to make sure she was happy, until recently. She can’t focus on anything but the distance between her and Tristan and the mysterious pains she’s been getting in her chest. When she ends up in the hospital with no explanations in sight, things truly come to a head.
Tristan Merritt loves his mate with everything in him and more. Too bad he hasn’t been able to show her with his busy schedule. After a huge fight, he makes it a priority to put her first in everything he does. Someone else has other plans. When Evie goes missing at a pack party, he will stop at nothing to bring her home safe, but will it be enough? Or will Tristan be too late? Sometimes second chances aren’t enough.
Evie and Tristan are not having a happy ever after right now. Then things get worse when she collapses. Can they solve the mystery before she’s hurt beyond repair? I enjoyed it
Sunny has done it again! This novella was so good. I was excited to read about Evie and Tristan’s story. This story had passion, romance and action!! Read this after reading about the Blackwoods! I wish it was longer. I was definitely hooked on every word.
I had read both of the Blackwood series book but missed this novella. Its been years and it was so refreshing to visit this group of characters again. Highly recommend
No one expected the workload that would come with changing and re-branding the pack as Blackwood. Not to mention the run of the mill issues like the alpha of a rogue pack abutting the territory was once one of their own. His workload and her health are straining. Evie and Tristan’s relations, tearing the beta couple apart.
The pair struggle to find what they once had as Evie’s health issues seem to coincide with an interloper treating Blackwood territory as their own. A fact driven home when Evie’s kidnapped from a pack party and Tristan spirals!
I don’t know how to feel about this particular short. To my taste, the characters, story and completeness are fine and except for the timing (and extra filler) could’ve been woven through books one and two or made a good start for book three (but not a good series end). That said, I guess I do know, I liked what I got but not how I got it. Rating: 3stars
