The Aurium claim they want to help…but can they be trusted?
A mysterious plague started Kira on her epic quest, but dragons are no longer dying, and it’s all thanks to General Ignatius of the Aurium. He and his people have come from another world to share their magic and help the people of Ragond. They’ve even set up a school for young dragon riders like Kira. It all seems too good to be true, and Kira can’t help but feel that something isn’t right.
Though as Kira and her dragon Gilda learn more about Aurium magic she can’t help but be intrigued. And as she gets closer to the general’s son, Lysander, she’s willing to believe the Aurium are everything they say they are.
Until she discovers that, behind the glittering facade, deadly secrets are mounting. One of those secrets has to do with Kira’s very own family, complicating things even more. But when uncovering the truth leads her to discovering the dark past of the Aurium, can Kira convince the Council of the danger before Ragond is destroyed?
Ava Richardson writes epic page-turning Young Adult Fantasy books. She creates lovable characters and drops them into intricate worlds that are barely contained within your eReader. Ava has written 21 YA dragon fantasy series, including her bestselling series Return of the Darkening and her recent series, Destia's Dragon Shifter War.
She grew up on a steady diet of fantasy and science fiction books handed down from her two big brothers – and despite being dog-eared and missing pages, she loved escaping into the magical worlds that those authors created. Her favorites were the ones about dragons; where they’d swoop, dive and soar through the skies of these enchanted lands.
A plague was killing the dragons until the Aurium step in to help. General Ignatius and his people have come to allegedly share their magic and help the people of Ragond. They set up a school for dragon riders like Kira. And yet Kira feels something is just not right about this. Kira and her dragon, Gilda, are distracted by the impressive Aurium magic. She even gets closer to the general’s son, Lysander. But danger awaits. She finds out the Aurium are not what they are pretending to be.
Kira, Lystander, and the harpy Chevalis begin to find evidence of the truth under the school when they see scientists working on huge machery. Axel found them outside and took them to see the river which had an oily black substance coating the rocks and perhaps killing the nearby plants. Kira went to tell Zephyr from the Council, and she also came to see the black goo. This could even be pollution from the machinery the Aurium used to stop the plague, although they claimed there was absolutely no negative effect from what they did.
When Kira and Gilda are later trapped by Colonel Grimmock and unable to use their magic in the special cells that block both magic and telepathy, they are about to become test subjects, but they escape. Will Kira get the Council to believe her about the dangerous Aurium plans to steal Ragond’s magic? Where will Lysander’s loyalties lie in all of this? Is he her enemy or her friend?
This is a well-written continuation of the story. It will keep the reader intrigued as Kira tries to find out what is really going on.
I read the first book in this series and thoroughly enjoyed it and wondered how Ava Richardson would keep the excitement going. I didn't need to worry.
Kira, Gilda and Chevalis are set for an epic adventure in this second book of the series. Kira and Gilda still have a lot of growing up to do but that doesn't stop them from getting embroiled in the affairs of Ragond.
Kira has joined the Aruium Academy ostensibly to learn about her magic and how it can work with the Aurium magic, but she is also looking for information about the claims the Aurium have made about want to help Ragond and Mythos.
Brilliant character development, Kira has to grow up pretty quickly to deal with some of the situations in which she finds herself. There are plenty of twists and turns throughout the story and the ending was not quite what I was expecting. Having said that, I am now eagerly awaiting the next instalment to see where the story goes next.
Dragon's Power is an action packed continuation of this fantastic series. Kira and Gilda join the new Aurium college to investigate the cause of the dragon plague. What ensues is secrets being unravelled, unlikely friendships and clues to Kira's own family past. The story is action packed, captivating, well plotted and full of great characters. Lysander in particular a fascinating character, who I look forward to seeing more of in the final book. 5/5 stars.

I was really taken by Kira yet again. A lovely story, full of hope. How does one go about destroying a realm? Simple it seems, steal as much magic as possible! What started out as a fact finding mission for Kira and Gilda at the brand new academy, quickly had Kira letting her guard down, seeing everything as positive and coming to the conclusion the Aurium people were genuine in wanting to help. But things just didn't add up and she soon noticed the glaring holes in the tapestry laid out before her. It took the imprisonment of Kira and Gilda for the final scales to fall from her eyes, although, by now, she was left in an impossible situation. I enjoyed how vulnerable Kira is, how naive, how she questions herself, how she tries to reassure herself, all very true of any young teen, very credible. Her bond with her dragon Gilda is just gorgeous. and as for Chevalis, well, I wish I had a friend like her! A really cool character, Lysander, throws in a bit of romance and intrigue but he's the enemy, or is he? Just when events take on a particularly nasty turn, Kira is astounding at who rallies around her. Now with a firm backing, with allies she never deemed possible to have, Kira is determined to save her world at all costs. I'm really looking forward to reading how she will achieve this, with the help of grumpy Axel, who's a bit like an overprotective parent, and with her new friends. I love the hope that resonates throughout, even when things are dire. A cool read!
Dragons power is another spectacular coming-of-age novel by Ava Richardson. Building on the history of the world she created in the previous novels without breaking it. She flawlessly continues the growth of the main character while adding new ones to the story. The novel portrays the main characters journey as they settled on a new mission in hopes of saving the world from A new and hidden threat. I personally cannot wait for the next novel in the series and seeing what comes next after dragons power.

I think that this Dragon's Power is pretty good. The characters are developing as well as can be expected in a second installment. Sometimes some words were used that a younger reader would not understand. That is not necessarily a bad thing but I think that more hints could have been left to explain what the word meant. I also felt rushed a little in some parts of the book, like it needed more pacing. There were definitely some suspenseful but sometimes predictable moments. I do believe some of the sadder scenes need a little more time to sink in though. I like how the author doesn't rush romances either, it is very refreshing. Dragon's Power is an enjoyable read for the most part. I do look forward to the next one.

Found this book to be up to the standard I appreciate getting from Ava Richardson. A great read. Kira must decide whether she can trust the new alliance or follow her gut feeling about something being wrong with the whole of Aruim realm. She works hard at the new academy, learning more about her magic and how it works with her dragon Gilda. She finds a new friend in Lysander, General Ignatious's son, while most of her other close friends are warning her against any type of relationship with him. Will he remain loyal to his people of follow Kira?

This is book two of the Reaping of Ragond series and sees Kira, her dragon Gilda and her harpy friend Chevalis have been accepted into the new Aurium built academy. The Aurium have come to Ragond claiming they wanted to help with the awful dragon plague that caused the death of Kira’s stepfather, killed Gilda’s mother and nearly killed off all the dragons of Ragond. They have huge advances in technology that they used to build the new school, open to all from Ragond and Mythos, and have promised to share this knowledge with the Ragond Council. Although after seeing how people were affected in a large gathering where Bastian’s name would leave people restarting a conversation as if they had never met you, she had noticed the glazed looks they gave her. She knew the people imprisoned and blamed for the dragon plague were not the ones that unleashed it on the dragons, but she needs to find proof of who actually did. She has her suspicions of the Aurium, led by General Ignatius, and hopes by attending this new academy, she can sneak about and learn anything there is to learn and find about the place and about why the Aurium are really in their realm. She is thrown somewhat off track when she meets the handsome son of the general, Lysander, who seems nothing like his father. Kira’s mother has insisted that Axel come with them to the school and both he and Gilda are against her friendship with this boy from the start. They remind her of the true reason she is there, but she gets distracted learning about all the Aurium magic and technology and how it all works. The Aurium test each of the students, dragon riders, their dragons and the witches, to see how they use their Ragond and Mythos magic and if they can use it to access items protected by Aurium magic. She even neglects Gilda and the other dragonriders, preferring to spend her time getting to know Lysander and the Aurium tech. She is almost swayed by everything the instructors are saying and is even getting extra mentoring by one of the general’s staff. On researching Aurium history, Kira finds an image in one of the books, before the fall of their realm, which shows someone who could be an important part of her family, long thought lost in a portal accident. But none of the instructors or the general himself say that her identification of that person is real and tell her she must be mistaken. She is sure the image is of the person she thinks it is and sends a copy home to her mother with Axel. Lysander is a bit of a rule breaker like Kira and loves to spend his time exploring, having been brought up in military barracks after his mother died when he was young. He takes Kira on a few explorations of areas only accessible by Aurium personnel and when she and Chevalis are let into his father’s private tower accommodations that they find a secret passage leading to a war room, which shows the Aurium have a lot of dark secrets they have been keeping from the Council and everybody else. Kira and Chevalis need to get to the Council to show them what they have found, but someone has already managed to deal with the Council in the same way Bastian’s colleagues were before. Nothing they say will persuade anyone of what they discovered and the fate of Ragond and their whole realm with be at risk, if they cannot find a way to fight back against these invaders, now they know exactly what they are here to do! Aurium has a dark past that the general is determined to continue, and his son Lysander will show exactly whose side he is on, as matters come to a head. A death of someone close to Kira will bring pain and torment, but she must become a leader and continue what she set out to do at the start, with no more distractions. If they do nothing and allow the Aurium to continue to convince everyone else that everything is fine, Ragond will be destroyed. A hard and difficult time for Kira, as she regrets not listening to someone, who helped guide her in her life, before it was too late. She has learnt the hard way that trust should not be given lightly and now she and her friends have more to do, if they are to save their realm. A fascinating read, with action, tragedy, and magical development, all whilst trying to fulfil a promise to a young Gilda to find the makers of the dragon plague machines. I can’t wait for the next book in the series to see what happens next and how they will all come together to fight against an enemy with far more advanced tech, magic and an army at the ready, who have already hoodwinked all in charge. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Kira signed up for enrollment in the Aurium school of magic and technology for she did not trust the Auriums. The Argyros that the Aurium's say are destroying worlds are actually the Auriums themselves. Kira and Lystander, who is the general of the Aurium's son, find huge turbines under the school and a room that tells what has happened the the other worlds and why the Aurium's did it. After Kira finds these records she and Gilda are trap inside cells the cancel there ability to use magic or communicate telepathically with ach other. The Aurium's have modify the machine that had cause the disease with the dragons. They what to test on Kira and Gilda for they had distory the first machine and cured the disease the first time. The Aurium are draining the magic from Ragond using the school as a cover to find out about the worlds magic. Kira and Gilda escape and meet up with some friends to see what they can do.

In Ragond problems continue after the Dragon sickness has been taken care of. Kira and Gilda find themselves in another situation as the Aureans claim to befriend and come to the aid of Ragond against a new enemy. But are they friend or foe? As Kira and Gilda accompanied by a few friends unravel the mysteries they find that the Aureans aren't all they claim to be. They have set up a new school for dragon riders but all is not as well as they would have the Ragondians and Mythoi believe. As Kira and friends uncover more and more the danger climbs and an unlikely new friend emerges but can they escape and convince others to believe in their cause and what they have uncovered? Another great page turner from Ava Richardson..

In the second book Kira makes friends with different species. A General and his band of soldiers pretend to be saviors and they are looking for Kira and Gilda as they were able to save many dragons and restore magic to witches—why—because for some reason they were immune. Kira went to the new school hoping to uncover what was really happening. Luckily she had some training from Brighad, an old knowledgeable witch, and remembered warnings from her. Who to trust who not to trust and if they escape how will it end against an army when they are so young? You will have to read the last book to find out—I am on my way to buy it. I highly recommend this series
Kira and her friends Gilda (dragon) and Chevalis (harpy), have plenty of challenges ahead of them, for their adventures have not ended yet. Kira wants to learn more about her magic, but is everything as it seems? What secrets might she learn this time? I loved getting to know this world better, the unlikely friendship and the secrets that come out. I look forward to the next book.

I love a good story line, with good characters. Having read the first book, I knew this one would be good and with a twist in the story line. The Hero female must stand against an army, though she has but a handful helping her cause. This is a great storyline and I have ordered the Hero, to conclude the story.
This is book number two out of three in the saga concerning Cara and Gilda, the speaking and flying dragon. Action is great. Character development is really good. A few surprises along the way. I’ll be starting book 3 soon. Do yourself a favor and read book onefirst. It’s well worth the time. This is such a good series. You will not be disappointed! Audio is fantastic.
Five stars again! I love how trial and error builds a strong relationship between dragons and students alike. This story will leave your heart in joy,and in mourning with the kids a a few characters.
Her friends and dragons are helping her as she tries to fight the deceptive invaders. Some of her former allies are mind controlled, when she starts the fight.
Kira is back and things get even more complex for her as she finds that things are not always what they seem in this book there are many twists and enough discoveries to keep you interested.
This is a well written and developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
From start to finish I really enjoyed reading this edition. It just got better as I read along a nd I was really ready for book 3 when this book 2 ended. 😊😊😊😊
The middle book in this story, and it does leave you up in the air at the end! But it is so well written, you will be eager for the next story! Great read!
This series seems very similar to the first 3 books. Same story just different characters doing the same thing as the characters did in the first 3 books.
