I live in Searcy, Arkansas, where I teach English Composition and Literature at Harding University. I grew up in Conyers, Georgia, the son of a printer and homemaker. I have two siblings, two nieces, and two nephews. I graduated from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta in 1994 and did graduate work at UNC Chapel Hill. After completing my doctorate in 2003, I moved to Searcy and have taught at Harding ever since. I love teaching courses in writing, world literature, British literature, and Shakespeare. I'm a member of the College Church of Christ and enjoy writing a column for "The Bison," our campus newspaper. The history of magic has been a hobby of mine for almost 30 years. Even though I'm not a performer, I love researching the stories of past magicians. "Don't Fool Yourself: The Magical Life of Dell O'Dell" came out in November 2014. It is my first book.
