Revenge is the misguided attempt to transform shame and pain into pride. Being forsaken and neglected, ignored and forgotten, revenge seems a fairly competent obligation at this point. Skylar is the boy who lived, that's why he's important. I'm not Skylar. Going to Hogwarts is part of the plan, waking the basilisk is part of the plan, taking potions, learning spells, being tortured, murdering others, watching people di-

I’m going to tell you a story, although it’s a bit long. I’m going to make you listen, because I want you to understand how you made me a monster. I’ll call this story antithesis, and you’re going to learn every single moment where things went wrong. I want you to cry, and beg for me to kill you, and when I’m done with this, you’re going to want to do that to yourself. You’re going to listen, because in the end, you owe me that much. You owe me so much more, but here we are, and this is how it’s going to end. Who knows, maybe this useless battle between you and me and this bloody world, well, maybe we always were fated to kill each other.
This is massive, 417k words, but extremely noir and additionally hard to follow, not just plotwise but also because of spelling and sentence construction issues, plus some consistency issues.
It’s a challenging ride, made, like apparently other stories from the same author, to emotionally destroy the reader. I acknowledge that this needs a special kind of skill.
It’s not my kind of story, however. (But at least it kept me busy during illness, during those times I was able to concentrate enough to try and read.)
Make no mistake. This story will break your heart.
But. it's good. A beautiful tragedy.

Let's sum it up. Shall we?
The beginning of the story features a number of things that don't add up. That's not a big deal imho. Because these things are merely not explained and not the focus of the story. After that the story gets better and better. Also it gets more depressing.
The summary features the following sentence:
"I want you to cry, and beg for me to kill you, and when I’m done with this, you’re going to want to do that to yourself."
In a sense this also adresses the reader. What I wrote at the beginning was no joke. This story is very very dark. Don't read this if you have mental problems. Don't read this if you are depressed or lonely. Read the tags (all of them!) before deciding to dive in.
It was well written (with regard to language) and the author achieved what they wanted, but reading the story felt like a chore. It was just beatdown after beatdown until eventually everything ends on a lacklustre note and then 'yay' the protagonist achieves peace. At last.
It was a slog for the sake of it being a slog, certain elements felt thoroughly contrived, and at about 60% in I just couldn't be bothered anymore before I started skimming and read the ending.
Did I miss something? Definitely. Do I care? Not particularly.
