Book two in the Beth Harper Supernatural Thriller Series.'Beth Harper is a highly gifted spiritual medium and clairvoyant. Having fled Scarsdale Hall, she's drawn to the remote coastal town of Crewby in north west England, and it soon becomes apparent she has a job to do. The congeniality here is but a thin veneer masking decades of deeply embedded secrets, madness and fear. Although she has help from her spirit guides and many clues are shown in visions, it isn't until the senseless and ritualistic murders happen on Mailing Street, however, that the truth is finally unearthed. And Joe Sully, the investigating officer, is about to have the spiritual awakening of his life.
What's buried beneath these houses though, is far more horrific and widespread than anything either of them could have imagined. Who is the man in black? What is the black goo crawling all over the rooftops? What exactly is The Gatehouse? And as for the local hospital, one night is more than enough for Beth...let alone three...'Author Caduceus follows on from Masquerade. It is not essential to read Masquerade, but it does help.
This book is about a spiritual medium and clairvoyant. Beth and Jeannie escaped the evil terrors of Scarsdale Hall. They decide to try and settle down in a coastal town of Crewby. But the little town has terrifyingly and scary shocking secrets hidden underneath an insurmountable sum of evil lurking and waiting to be unleashed arghhhh!!
Beth starts having visions about a nearby street, which are horrific and evil. All of a sudden murders start happening which are confusing to the local police and look very ritualistic.
This author has me gripped me from the very first page to the very last. The unsettling unease and dread increased my heart rate throughout the book and kept building to a crescendo of horrific OMG gasp out loud moments.
If you haven't read any of this author's books your missing out on The Queen of Horror!!
I always get excited when I hear of a new book coming out. Roll onto the next book. Absolutely brilliant!!!!
Second book in Beth harper series and things are escalating within the world of spirits, demons and the good guys like Beth. After leaving Curbeck and Scarsdale Hall behind and escaping just in time, Beth and Jennie arrive in the small seaside town of Crewby to try and begin a new life, hidden from Countess Martel’s sight.
It doesn’t take long for Beth to realise there really is no escape and until she fights them all and faces her most difficult challenges, she will always be on the run, with her enemies just one step behind.
Fabulous follow up to the first book, delving more into Jennie’s story and showing Beth’s character and powers growing. With the helpful police officer Joe on their side, they face the dark side once more. The book is skilfully written only given away as much as necessary, leaving the reader on the edge of their seat needing more!
The second book in the Beth Harper Supernatural Thrillers series. Beth and Jeannie have escaped Scarsdale Hall and found themselves in the seaside town of Crewe hoping for a quieter life. Of course this is not to be and spooky goings on of the very dark kind have followed them in their tracks.
I thought this was quite an exciting sequel to Masquerade, book one in the series. It was great to meet up with Beth and her spirit guides again for another creepy and sinister adventure. I liked the added interest of Joe the detective and hopefully we will encounter him again in future episodes. I still found it a little confusing at times and wasn’t always sure what was going on but I just went with the flow and enjoyed it nevertheless. It would seem that Beth’s troubles are not at an end so I look forward to how the story is taken forward in the next book!
Caduceus is a spine chilling, dark and powerful follow on from Masquerade, Sarah England’s First book in the Beth Harper series. After escaping the horrors of Scarsdale Hall. Beth and Jennie arrive in the seaside town of Crewby, but behind the facade a darkness has eroded through to the very soul of Crewby, and Beth finds herself once again pulled into a battle with very dark and satanic forces. Whenever I read one of Sarah England’s novels, I just know I am in for a heart pounding few hours, with her talent for descriptive detail the scenes jump out and totally pull me in, and believe me, there are times I want to escape the nightmare myself!. I know the Author researches this subject matter well, and her knowledge is so vast, with her style of writing she expertly brings it to readers in her books, and I think we get a better understanding of the forces that permeate around us.
Yikes, this is a dark and creepy thriller, the second one in the series with Beth Harper.
Beth and Jeannie have settled in a new place, but trouble is also there. Crewby looks like any other place, but malignant forces are at work here also and they get pulled into it, despite themselves. So much for a fresh start! Gran Grace and Billy are on hand to help, as well as Yukon, and they befriend a cop, Joe, who doesn't understand what Beth can see but he is supportive nevertheless, thankfully.
I really struggled to take a deep breath through some of this book and I definitely didn't read it just before I went to sleep, that's for sure! If you are squeamish, perhaps this book might not be your cup of tea.
Another excellent Sarah England thriller, looking forward to the next instalment already.
An enjoyable read but, a bit "over the top" for my taste. Everything was either very good or very bad, with nothing in between. The Satanists were all high born and high powered, trapped inside a spider's web of pure evil. Up against them was the humble Beth Harper, ably assisted by the spirits of native Americans, a Catholic priest and a host of other ghostly entities. Brutal and violent at times but an engaging story nevertheless.
A perfect sequel to the thrilling novel Masquerade. Beth Harper, a medium and cleanser of demons returns with Jeannie, the young girl she rescued, for a fresh adventure. The new setting was refreshing and the story was fast paced with good descriptions and spookiness. I love the character of Beth but I also loved her new detective friend, I hope he pops up again at some point. This authors writing style is perfect for me and I can’t wait until the next book in the series.
This is a great sequel to Masquerade and Beth once again finds herself in a strange town with Jeanne but what will this one have in store for them. I loved the characters and the very interesting back story about the place they find themselves but will this one turn out to be too much for Jeannie? You will have to read to find out! I do hope there is a follow up to this book as I really enjoyed the first two. A big 5* from me.
Yet again, another great book which kept me hooked from the beginning to the very end. The beginning was a little slow but it soon picked up. I look forward to seeing where this series goes and learning more about Beth and Jeannie. Highly recommend.
This is the second book in the series and an excellent sequel definitely no disappointment. Beth and all her supernatural extras return in this book and we’re quickly wrapped up in the story. Another great read
Beth and Jeannie have no escape from their past trauma as they are faced with more evil and mayhem. Another well written book which graphically portrays the darkness surrounding a town and its inhabitants.
I have been a fan of Sarah's since her debut book. As I had read the first book in the series, I leapt on the chance to read the next thrilling story of Beth Harper...this book did not disappoint! Creepy from start to end, highly recommended!
Another spine-tingling tale from this very talented author. Layer upon layer of supernatural events mingled with an unsuspecting public makes this a very realistic story. Well told, expertly delivered & tinged with plenty of creepy moments, I’ve enjoyed every single chapter.
Sarah England did it again ....gave two unputdownable novels ...writing at her best....thoroughly enjoyed...eagerly waiting for next ...fallen in love with Beth harper
As always a brilliant book by Sarah England. Well written and keeps you wanting more even when you've read the last page. Can't wait for the next instalment
Decent horror read. I really like the character Beth but felt the story became slowed down somewhat with lengthy descriptions of the psychic experiences themselves, when I rather wanted the story to move along some more. Still, I enjoyed it for what it was.
Caduceus by S.E. England. A Beth Harper Supernatural Thriller Book 2. Absolutely brilliant read. Spooky chilling eerie scary. I have read most of Sarah's books and have loved them all. love this series and can't wait for next book. 5*.
