Wow... so, after quite enjoying the humour and emotional resonance of the first story through Amazon's sneak peek function (one of my all-time favourites things about that site!), I decided to give the next few a go in KU, and what do you know, I burned through the whole lot in less than 3 days, found myself genuinely enjoying each one, and now have a bunch of brand new authors to look up!
Stories at the very top of the list I loved the most are: Love or Bust (Melinda Carroll), Evan-tually (DeAnn Ogden Huff), Unexpected (Amanda P. Jones), Hook, Line, and Keeper (Pamela Kowalski), Perfect Catch (Jean Lambert), Not Yet Dead (Carol Malone), The App of Destiny (Stephanie Ann Morris).
Honestly this anthology was LONG. It felt like it was taking forever. The stories were all enjoyable though, except for Carol Malones. That one was just plain awful I’m so sorry…
Another thing that bothered me was that the Kismet app wasn’t run or created the same in each story. Like every story described it differently which was confusing. If you’re doing an anthology like this you absolutely NEED to have the main ingredient stay the same. It was supposed to be contemporary romance but it felt like everyone was living in a different world.
This set of stories was just what I needed after a long week! The stories are short and most of them were hilarious! I was sad when it ended, but now I have a list of authors to look up their other books!
Anthologies are hard to rate because there are so many different stories, but there were a lot of fun takes the prompt in this one. Some were just okay, but it was enjoyable over all
