A UN worker intent on revolution, a serial killer bent on revenge, and, between the two, an increasingly disillusioned Met detective. All have their own ideas of what justice should look like – even if DC Brook Deelman was only hoping for a quiet pint when events intervened.
Now, three people with very different goals are on a collision course in London. A situation that will hit closer to home than anything Brook has ever known.
When the stakes are high enough, people will go to great lengths to see their version of justice triumph.
Ed Church learned about writing as a journalist, then about solving complex cases as a detective in London. After leaving the police, he began writing the dual-timeline mystery “Non-Suspicious”, introducing DC Brook Deelman. Released in 2020, it was soon followed by more titles in the same series – a place where justice can be messy and murky, but always has a long memory.
Confident, assured, tightly and cleverly plotted - this is a captivating and absorbing read. I LOVED it (I read it in one day because I couldn't put it down) and can't wait for the next book in the series. Ed Church is a rarity - a superb writer who knows the realities of police work inside out, has the flair and imagination to spin an absolutely cracking yarn and make it feel authentic and very real. Read this book. You won't regret it.
Who is killing policeman named Jonathan Davies and why. D.C. Brook Deelman is concerned for his friend JonBoy who he is unable to get in touch with and is also named Jonathan Davies. And why is a person from the United Nations interested. An entertaining, well-plotted and well-written mystery with its likeable characters.
I have flown through this whole series in less than 2 weeks...and now I'm left with an emptiness only Brook can fill! I am excited to see where his personal life leads ( rooting for Sam♥️), and also if he and Jonboy do the whole PI thing🥰
A thrilling detective novel, that is absolutely damning to the powers that be. It is dark and exciting but not without comedic respite. Heart-racing and gripping, and devourable.
