Tildas Islands #1

A Fiery Whisper

Rate this book
When murder is just the beginning

FBI agent Damian Rodriguez never thought he’d see his former lover, Charlotte Lareaux, again—they’d gone down in flames over a year ago and now lived oceans apart. But when she shows up on his doorstep on Tildas Island in the Caribbean, bleeding and nearly dead, the distance between them suddenly feels trivial.

Charlotte has no idea why anyone would want to kill her or her friends and relying on Damian and his teammates to find those answers is the right thing to do—even if it isn’t easy. But when they discover that a single, simple question set off the events that left her and a friend fighting for their lives, no one believes that’s the end of the story.

In fact, they all know it’s just a whisper of things to come.

Tamsen Schultz is the author of several romantic suspense novels and American Kin (a short story published in Line Zero Magazine). In addition to being a writer, she has a background in the field of international conflict resolution, has co-founded a non-profit, and currently works in corporate America. Like most lawyers, she spends a disproportionate amount of time thinking (and writing) about what it might be like to do something else. She lives in Northern California in a house full of males including her husband, two sons, three cats, a dog, and a gender-neutral, but well-stocked, wine rack.

This is a well-written, entertaining, fast paced romantic suspense novel. It has likable, engaging, characters, a strong and capable female protagonist, a heart warming romance, a lovely setting and an intriguing mystery. It is an excellent beginning to Ms. Schultz's Tildas Islands series, which follows her outstanding Windsor series. I am looking forward to reading Alexis' story with great anticipation.

Tamsen Schultz is a master of romantic suspense. There is just enough of each to keep the book interesting and the suspense is a serious nail-biting page turner that kept my interest from the first page to the last.

The characters of Charlotte and Damian were fantastic, as were the very complex characters that made up the team Damian worked with. They each obviously have a complicated back story that I'm looking forward to learning more about in the next book in this new series.

The setting is gorgeous and as always, Ms. Schultz does a great job describing the setting so clearly that I felt like I was visiting Tildas Island. I'm not much for tropical islands (bugs, humidity, etc.) but I want to visit Tildas Island now.

If you have enjoyed anything by this author in the past, go get this book right now and if you have never read anything by Tamsen Schultz, what are you waiting for? This book has it all ~ a hunky hero with his multi-talented protective team members, a second chance romance and a great mystery with plenty of excitement.

Thank you to the author and publisher for providing an ARC at my request. All thoughts are my own and happily provided.

Not very good

I made it to page 58, and I finally just gave up. A few parts of the book were interesting, but none of the characters left a very strong feel. No lasting impression at all, where as most other books I've read, you have a strong feel for the characters at least in the first few chapters. They were all just very dull. The book was just dull. Then it was the endless details of pointless things like the continuously repeating of how winding each road is. It was just too much.

What a great kickoff!! I already fell in love with Damian in THROUGH THE NIGHT and INTO THE DAWN, book 7 and 8 of Tamsen Schultz’s Windsor Series. He’s so funny and charming and I love him even more matched with Charlotte. It’s twisted and full of conspiracy. I am totally in love with each member of the task force we get to know in this book. Hopefully we’re going to meet them again in the upcoming sequels of this series ❤️ Fantastic book! Fantastic author!!

Perhaps 4.5 *

I have read a previous series by this author and I like her writing quite a lot.

If you want action, suspense, attractive team dynamics and characters you want to get to know [not a TSTL move anywhere!], this is a book you will want to consider.

Another plus is the location, an island among the US Virgin Island territories. I'm looking forward to the second book in this series, asap.

Boring

Started off pretty good, but by around 40% I started skimming. Ended up skipping chapters and finally skipped to the end just to see how it ended. There just wasn’t enough emotion for me to stay interested.

Tamsen Schultz introduces her new Tildas Island series in A Fiery Whisper featuring FBI Agent Damien Rodriguez and his former girlfriend, Charlotte Lareaux. The intense plot creates suspense and intrigue giving her readers breath-taking action and drama Shultz’s followers have come to expect in her novels.

The storyline begins with a nail-biting event as Charlotte shows at Damien’s front door bleeding and left for dead with only enough energy to make it to Damien’s’ house before collapsing. Charlotte is on the island to attend an economic meeting, while Agent Rodriguez is on Tildas as a member of an advance FBI team planning for the protection of the world leaders attending the summit in the upcoming year. Damien seeks his team members to help to solve the mystery of who attacked Charlotte and why. Rodriguez and his team want to know if her attack has any connection with the upcoming summit.

The author keeps the storyline moving forward with additional attacks on Charlotte including explosions; all of these events help bring Charlotte and Damien closer to each other. Schultz adds romance to the mix of the fast-moving pace of the plot. She adds the details of the complex team members adding to the twist and turns of the unfolding events. The team deals with the kidnapping of a member of their team, leading to answers that help bring the story to a dramatic ending. Schultz’s A Fiery Whisper will not disappoint readers as it full of suspense, action, intrigue, and romance. A must-read and earns a five-star ranking.

A Fiery Whisper is the first, I assume, in a new series from Tamsen Schultz. Although it isn't part of her Windsor series, one of the main characters does appear in some of those books. This is both a second chance romance and a thriller and much like the Windsor books, it does both well, without becoming more of one with the other tacked on as an afterthought as some books do.

Damian and Charlotte have a past, once very much in love, they separated for a variety of reasons. When Charlotte finds herself in a life-threatening situation, it's Damian that she instantly turns to. It's clear that their story is not yet done.

I liked both Damian and Charlotte. They are both strong characters who know what they want but still have that element of vulnerability that allows them to come together as a couple. The thriller aspect of this novel was fairly complicated, I suspect that is in part because there is still more to come and also because I don't fully know or understand some aspects of American politics.

There is a conclusion to this story, but everything isn't completely tied up by the end. It's clear that there are to be future books and stories that unravel exactly what is going on and why. I'm looking forward to reading them and finding out more about the FBI team that Damian is part of.

A Fiery Whisper is the first book in the Tildas Islands series and it got off to a whopper start. Which is exactly what I have come to expect from Tamsen Schultz. This book is about Damian whom we met in The Windsor series who has gone in with a few colleagues to be enlisted into a new secret mission team. This is a second chance romance and a thriller mixed together and very well told with strong characters in Damian and Charlotte. Damian and Charlotte had been lovers in the past and once very much in love with each other but they had been separated for over a year when Charlotte finds herself on Damian’s doorstep stabbed and badly hurt. It's clear that they still have very strong feelings for each other. Damian and Charlotte are both strong characters in their own right who know exactly what they want but both are still haven’t healed from the breakup of their relationship. The twists and turns of this story are edge of your. Seat stuff and very addictive reading. There is a lot more to come in this series and if the rest of the stories are of the same quality of writing then we are definitely in for a treat.

What did you see?

FBI Agent Damian Rodriguez FC is wet, bleeding, and about to pass out. He takes her into his house and finds she has been stabbed. He calls one member of his team, Beni, to come help him. Beni sews Charlotte up.

When Charlotte finally wakes the whole team is there to question her about what happened. Charlotte has no idea why anyone would want her dead! She had spent a week aboard a friend's yacht, boating around Tidas Island before she was to attend some meetings.

When Mia and Simon are put in danger the team knows that they have to find out what is going on. Although Damian and his team have been trying to learn who was behind the stabbing, they realize they need to get permission from their boss to work on it full time. Once they get permission, things get hopping! Things get to the nail biting stage fast.

I really liked the whole story line and am anxious to read book 2.

I was sad when the Windsor series ended. This first book in the new Tildas Island series makes up for it. I have been anxiously waiting for Damian's story and it was worth it! I loved finally learning about his past and what made him the way he is. Charlotte is a perfect compliment to him. She's strong and complex. The chemistry is off the charts. I also enjoyed meeting all the new agents. Each is a bit of an enigma and it is going to be a great ride unveiling them. While the mystery in this one is wrapped up, there is a larger plot that looks like it will unravel throughout the series. This is an excellent romantic suspense with humor and fast paced action. I can't wait for the next one!

What a wonderful introduction into a new series from Tamsen Schultz!

Damian is a FBI agent currently assigned to Tildas Island with his team in preparation of an upcoming summit that will be attended by many in positions of power. Charlotte, his former girlfriend, shows up on his doorstep injured and in need of help. Can Charlotte, Damian, and his team figure out what is going on and protect Charlotte? Can Damian and Charlotte work through their past issues in light of their current feelings? Read and find out!

Ms. Schultz is a talented author and I have thoroughly enjoyed all of her books! I am looking forward to the next in this series!

I really don't like to leave a bad review, however, THERE IS NO ENDING TO THIS STORY! Who was after Charlotte and why- guess you'll have to buy the next book to find out. This was not a thriller, only page after page of Charlotte thinking about Damien, what went wrong, and how to fix the relationship. Then it was Damien's turn to moon over her. Alot of things that happened were a bit over the top and not believable.
I did give 2 stars as the author took the time to think up the story. I believe effort needs to be realized.
I won't be reading anymore of her books, they are more like romance novels than anything and there's the NO ending, of course.

Tamsen Schultz is a writer to keep an eye on!

First her wonderful Windsor series now the start of a great new series! It starts off with an FBI agent putting together a team of agents for a special job. Next we know somebody is severely wounded and showing up at the doorstep of an agent. The story immediately is intriguing and keeps you captivated page after page.

If you don't know Tamsen yet, I highly recommend her books. If this is the first book you find of hers, please also check out the Windsor-series she wrote. You won't be disappointed!

I thought this book was a good start to a new series.
Yes, not everything is resolved by the end, but that’s why it’s a series.
Interesting mix of characters in the FBI team. Their stories will be forthcoming as we get closer to the plot of what’s happening on the island.
This book introduces the plot or mystery of what’s happening in paradise on Tildis Island. It also introduces each character of the FBI team.
Then there is Charlotte, Damian’s lost love. The story begins with her showing up at his beach house, stabbed.
And there we go…

A Fiery Whisper is the first book in the Tildas Island series and is a fantastic start to this new series.

This story captured my attention from the first page and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. The characters are strong, intelligent, and have a history together. The storyline is well written and has action, suspense, intrigue, danger, and a second chance for romance.

I loved this book and cannot wait for the next one!

Very Interesting!

First time Ii have read this author and enjoyed the book very much. I usually read murder mysteries and found this very different but good. Characters are appealing, plot interesting, and story moves along nicely. Do not like cliffhanger ending, however.

nice mystery

This was well written, tidy mystery. While, there is a larger storyline that is unresolved, it doesn’t detract or feel wanting when the primary story is wrapped up with a nice HEA. I am looking forward to book two.
