The north is at peace, secured by murder and betrayal and the plotting of treacherous kings. As half the northern nobility gather in Ilithor for the wedding of Princess Amilia Lukar and the traitorous King Hadrin, Elyon Daecar finds himself drawn into a plot he never expected. One that may see him soar.
Freed from the clutches of the sinister Cecilia Blakewood, Saska travels south in the company of her giant protector, Sir Ralston, and the crew of the Steel Sister. Making for the city of Aram, she finds her journey hindered by the simmering war, as more of the riddle of her past is unraveled.
Far to the south, tensions boil as the Patriots of Lumara continue to stir violence, slaughtering any northman they can find. Jonik and his allies fight back, as the former Shadowknight discovers the truth of his purpose. A holy duty awaits him. But first, he’ll need an army…
At the twin tombs, north and south, the world begins to tremble. Amron Daecar limps into the white wilderness, in search of his salvation, and a world away Lythian Lindar is drawn into a world of monsters and gods. All is connected. The past and the future. The gifts of the fallen gods.
Through the ages their actions echo. And titans will rise again.
I will only continue with series if the next entry is the conclusion of this series otherwise I don't see me going on with this as I've lost my interest on almost all the main characters except may be Elyon's POV. Definitely better than book 2 but felt like the plot is dragged out a lot.
This is easily one of my favorite books. I can’t wait until book 4 comes. I’ve read a lot of fantasy books and this is definitely one of the top. I recommend it to anyone that is considering reading it. IT IS WORTH IT!!!! Can’t wait to see how this story plays out.
So much of this one was 5 stars, but sadly, more than a few parts were 3 stars.
We got a lot more lore and history with this book. I like how the author is slowly moving the pieces across the board, building tension and allowing for strong character moments. This series is already deep and compelling, and I'm excited to see how it will shine once certain things start to hit.
The characters. This has been the best part of this series. That said, the author does need some polish and depth with motivations. Certain secondary and tertiary characters feel or do things without strong prose support. It's not enough to ruin things for me, I can shrug it off and keep going. Just wanted to note this.
Two characters though, and their arcs, drove the "more than a few parts were 3 stars" stated earlier. One character has still just not hit for me, and has an arc that I am not-as-of-yet invested in. Solid cast around them though, doing a lion's share of keeping those chapters as interesting as able. The other character 'leveled-up' quite a bit in this one and, if not handled properly, could potentially weigh down how much I enjoy the rest of the series.
I came off a bit harsh on this one, but do want to say - i am loving this series so much and haven't been devouring these books for nothing.
This review will be repeated for the first three books of "The Bladeborn Saga". Essentially it is the story of a kingdom threatened with an expansive war driven by a power hungry king. There are multiple players as this drama expands but the story line is given a modest start with a powerful advisor to the king, his sons, and an assassin who actions alter the dynamics of a kingdom struggling to maintain a peace. There is a classical theme presented involving the assassin taking the direction of his superiors without knowledge of great tragedy that may ensue should he become successful. There is also a young maidservant girl, Saska, that had escaped her hateful master and begins a journey filled with surprises and challenges. Other players are gradually introduced and the story line begins to jell more masterfully toward the middle of the first book. The following 2 books are masterfully written and leaves the reader with several open questions that need to be addressed in book 4.
I'll start with the only sad aspect. I hit the end of this and there was not a sequel to read yet. Thoroughly enjoyed the character development and the author keeping the characters within the nature of how he started them, but with growth as they progress through the storyline. It would be disappointing if the next book the characters acted out of character and not in a growing way. This was not the case. This was very well woven. Very fun to read and again, I'm only sad I don't have the next one to open up now
Aptuveni 20 gadus The Bladeborn Sāgas sērijas zemēs kopš iepriekšējā lielā kara starp ziemeļu un dienvidu kontinenta karalistēm ir valdījis trausls miers, bet vismaz ir savs gals, lai cik ļoti daži to nevēlētos. Vai varbūt tieši pretēji un kā Tukoras karalis Janala to alkst, būt par varoni, kam lemts pielikt punktu teiksmainajam pēdējam karu ciklam, apvienojot visus maģiskos Vandaras zobenus.
This is the third book of the series. I was really looking forward to a thrilling book. I received a lot of drudgery. Let me give you a for instance. One of the main characters, Jonik, gets on board a ship. The author then describes each person on the ship. I get it. Later in the book, another character (leshie) gets on the same ship. She then re-describes her version of each shipmate. It was excruciating. Last 5 chapters of the book were very good. If author would have condensed his descriptive narrative of the mundane, then the series would be worth reading. Oh well, on to perhaps a more captivating fantasy series.
I like science fiction fantasy - I've never been one much for war type novels. But this series - I grew to like it - looking forward to reading the next chapter, the next novel. I cannot say that I liked the way this 3rd novel ended. It appears there should be another, but - The Bladborn Saga only contains 3.
What a very good trio books this has been! The plot and the characters are well fleshed out. I had thought the story would end with the third book of the series but it seems there will be another installment. I am truly looking forward to reading it when it comes. I am off to read more from this author. Thank you T.C. Edge for a very engaging story!!
The storyline is absolutely fantastic....very well written, edge of your seat - can't put it down chapters one after another, strong characters who are realistic with faults and strengths both, with lots of moving pieces and sub-stories that are now converging into one epic drama. The multiple POV was a bit difficult at first, but quickly made sense when you went back to a character as the story progressed....one of the best I've read!
I love this series! There's plenty of action but it's not all fighting, rather double dealing and dastardly plots with brilliant characters that fit their roles perfectly. There are villains and heroes and all those in between that fulfill an intriguing cast within a fantastic fantasy.
I liked the way the chapters alternated between characters so to gradually reveal the mysteries and plots. The sense of place(s) brought everything to life.
I really like this story and I think any fan of Game of Thrones will also enjoy it. I am a little confused though, I thought this was a trilogy but this 3rd book left so many open storylines that I know more is coming. I don't mind, because I have been enjoying the story so much but please write the fourth and end it.
Thoroughly enjoyed all three books. Loved the storyline, the fast paced plot, the characters and had a hard time stopping my reading to do other things because I wanted to find out what was going to happen next to each character. Don’t hesitate to read the BladeBorn Saga. I can’t wait for the next book to come out!
Just finished this book. I could see on my kindle that I was almost to the end and would have hated a quick wrap up. So I was very happy to find that a 4th book is due. Very soon I hope! I have loved the saga so far. The books are very long and still I don't want them to end. Loving it and well done to the author, I now intend to try out some of his other series too.
An Echo of Titans is probably the best of the bunch so far, with better storytelling and more action than the previous two books. It also sets the stage for the greater conflict to come, with all the major players now showing their hand. A good edition to the series, and a credit to T.C. Edge, this is turning into a great fantasy series.
Awesome series. Great characters. Wonderful good guys and bad guys. My favorites are Elyon and Saska. I've already started The Winds of War, and can't wait to see what happens in the end.
No descriptive romance and no swearing.
As for the narration: Steven Brand is great but he needs help with feminine voices.
This is the first book in the series that I was really getting excited about the story. Things are moving along at a faster pace than the previous books and each character is on a journey with a goal ahead of them that all relate to the main plot. I'm excited to find out what happens in the next book!
I am enjoying The Bladeborn Saga. It is very well written an frankly hard to put down. The story flows flawlessly from one character to the next and I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in this series.
Thoroughly enchanting series! A bit of Game of Thrones feel to it. You find yourself rooting, cheering, hating and emapathizing with the characters. Great read that I can't wait for to continue!
This has been one of the best series I have read recently. I'm glad that the author did not try to wrap the whole story up in the last few chapters as I had feared. I cannot wait for the next installment.
Such a great read, as were the previous 2 books in this series. . So many details and story lines all now coming together. Just starting the Winds of War. If you like intrigue, treachery, dragons and knightly adventures, these books will satisfy - hard to put these books down. Enjoy!
This multi book saga has a lot of detail, description of characters, the land, the history, the plotting and the thoughts of many characters. Enough detail to become friends with some of the heroes, it's been a good series.
I'm devouring the books! Each book I start, I pray it's the last so I can know the outcome but secretly hoping the adventure continues! I'm constantly surprised by the twists and turns! Here I am, eagerly diving into the next book!
I just cannot put it down. You'd think switching between so many characters would be hard to follow, but the author pulls it together. I gateway to read the final book and see if all brought together for the final time. I can't wait.
A skillfully told tale. It's sometimes a little difficult to maintain focus on a character with so many moving parts. But it's worth the wait as each story line draws closer to a grand conclusion.
I have enjoyed this series so much. I love the characters and the way the author presents the story. They are long books, but the story is so engaging before you know it, you have finished the book!
The book is full of many characters and take concentration to see the interactions between them. Eventually it does begin to make sense with so many characters that are good and evil with some being totally evil!
If you enjoyed ASOIAF series, then this is for you! I'm not sure why this series isn't more familiar, but it has everything that other, more popular series have. Dragons? Check. Political intrigue? Check. Family infighting? Check. Battles scenes? Check. This book, and series literally checks every box for what I look for in an epic fantasy series!
This series just keeps getting better and better. The plot and twists within that plot, the characters, the scope and scale is so massive but easy to keep up with because it’s so memorable. The whole story is just fantastic!
