This is one of the very few times that I read the blurb (or at least a part of it) but it turns out that this book wasn't what I expected. Maybe the cover fooled me but I didn't expect a story with so much drama and such steamy scenes (and even some BDSM in one of those).

It was an okay story and easy to read. I did expect it to be lighter but I had a good time reading it. I'm not exactly ok with the fact that she cheated on her ex with his brother but overall it's a decent read with much drama and a few grammatical errors so 3 ⭐.

This was an enjoyable read. Maddie is working as a nurse. She soon realizes that Cage is a doctor at the same hospital. They have a past and it gets messy between them. Thankfully in the end everything works out and they get their happy ending.

3-1/2 Star Review

Maddie, a nurse has struggled to raise her 3 year old daughter, Ela as a single mother but things are about to change when Maddie encounters rich, handsome Cage, a doctor at the hospital where she has been hired. Cage has judged her harshly since she had a relationship with his brother Ben, but their chemistry indicates more than Cage even knows. This is a an intriguing book that rates much higher in the first half of the book, but as the storyline progresses, the book is rushed and editing and grammatical errors occur, and my review slipped from a 5 to 3-1/2 stars.

A sweet ending for Maddie

It’s a good story but with some childhood trauma for the main characters. The storyline is interesting but it’s covers difficult traumatic experiences for our main characters. Maddie was a teenager when she met Ben and Cage, brothers. They were all sowing their wild oats for a good bit., fun times. However, Ben took his too far and became an addict. Maddie left town without a word, and Cage joined the military and became responsible. What happens when Cage and Maddie cross paths? There are big secrets involved. Read on!

One thing I really liked, the children (Ela or even Tate) acted according to their age. Not many romance authors can pull that off (at least in the books I've read so far), so kudos for that. And if you overlook the editing and grammar errors, the writing was really decent and promising. The main characters and the storyline though - they just didn't work for me. Mainly the hero was an entitled asshole I couldn't stand. The heroine was just forgettable. I've already forgotten her name.

I needed to see where this went.

It was a gripping tale.
The tension was good and the chemistry believable.
However I didn’t really like the threats and arguments that Cain threw at Maddie in regards to custody. It also needs another proofreading for typos.
Very quick read and a happily ever after.

Loved It

Wow! This storyline started off with a bang and kept on going. I loved when the snippy nurse was put in her place. What a 'B'. The love story and saving the foster child was very emotional. This is a must read.

Short novella, low angst, little bit of spice. Ex's brother, secret she always had to keep.

What a train wreck. Wish the author made the book a bit longer to develop the characters & their relationship more. Too many issues thrown in & everything felt rushed.

When the Past and the Present Merge and Love Emerges

Being a family member is a learning experience. As one grows up in family group, one learns lessons both positive and negative, depending on the nature of that family structure. In a strong, loving family, one can learn how to support with love, but also how to disagree with love, and to learn how to confront and address the disappointments of being human. The tools and outlook of how one relates to others and handles the hurts of life is formed within the structure of the family.

The problem is that not all families are loving and affirming, helping the individual to grow into one who can support the individuality and uniqueness of others. Not all families are able to take the hurts and pains of life and remain whole. And even possessing wealth offering financial choices, money does not guarantee the development of a healthy, happy, loving and supportive individual.

Pediatric surgeon Cage Burke observed family’s challenges following the death of his younger sister from cancer, as his parents, overwhelmed with grief, began a slow emotional disintegration, turning to alcohol, eventually resulting in the emotional abuse of their remaining two children, Cage and Ben as a means of expressing grief and hurt of the elder Burkes. And both boys paid the price of their parents’ abusive dysfunctionality into adulthood. Cage closed himself off emotionally, focusing obsessively on his surgical challenges while Ben used his parent’s method of escape, often losing himself in drugs and alcohol.

And more than a dysfunctional childhood, both brothers share a passion for the same woman—the beautiful red-haired and green-eyed Maddie Flynn. Like the Burke brothers, for a while, she had allowed the experience of her abusive childhood to shape the choices she made as a young adult, often engaging in the hazards of unfettered drinking and partying to escape her own emotionally abusive childhood. But unlike the Cage and Ben, discovering that an unguarded night with one of the Burke brothers and the resulting unexpected pregnancy, Maddie realized that she could not continue her self-indulgent, careless lifestyle. She was about to become a mother and that required that she become a responsible, productive adult. And so, Maddie’s party days ceased, her ties to the Burke brothers faded into the past, and she became a responsible adult, caring for her unborn child with altered habits, she stopped drinking and enrolled in a nursing program gaining professional skills in order to support herself and her expected child.

Now, 4 years later, with a 3-year-old, Ela, ready to start pre-school just as her mom is beginning her first job as a nurse, Maddie thinks that she has rebuilt her life, turning her back on her past. But, fate has other plans when on her first day at the hospital, arriving late because Ela unplugged the alarm clock, Maddie runs straight into her past in the form of Dr. Cage Burke, pediatric surgeon who is impatiently and unhappily waiting for the new nurse to arrive so he can begin surgery, and when he discovers that the tardy nurse is none other than his brother’s drinking and f*ck buddy, Maddie doesn’t think she has ever had a more disastrous day until on her time assisting a surgeon on her first day at work, she bumps all the sterile surgical instruments on the floor just as the operation in about to begin.

Sofia Finn has crafted a tale of love, jealousy, revenge and dark secrets that swirl around the Burke family, but love and forgiveness is possible! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Maddie, 23, is a new nurse, recovering alcoholic, and mother to 3 year old Ela ho has just begun her new job at the hospital. She is confronted by Cage, a hot but tough doctor at the hospital who is the brother of her former abusive, addicted boyfriend who is now in rehab. Both Cage and Maddie were raised in abusive households but Cage is also a billionaire. When Cage finds out that she has a daughter he assumes that he is the uncle and threatens to take her daughter away from her unless she agrees to spend 2 months with him so he can decide if she is a fit mother or still has a drinking problem. They become closer and Maddie realizes that she has to tell Cage the truth but she is afraid. What will happen when Cage learns the truth about Maddie’s daughter?

I enjoyed this story where Maddie and Cage end up working together after Maddie had stopped drinking and was now a mother and a new nurse. Dr. Cage was tough on her because he thought she had encouraged his brother’s addiction and didn’t realize what his brother had done to her. The author did a great job showing how their abusive parents and painful families had led both Maddie and Cage to hide their feelings. They slowly developed a relationship and the epilogue was a great ending for their story.

Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! This is book is part of the Loving You Again series why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Maddie’s life wasn’t always rainbows, coming from a family of dysfunction there were things she had to overcome from her past a little person brought on that change, and working a new job running into her ex (baby daddy) brother. Cage sexy as all get out doc. with a lot of issues, comes from a family of dysfunction, feeling like he has to do everything on his own (I didn’t like the attitude at first considering she had gotten herself together). Maddie and Cage run into each other, after finding out about his niece he threats to fight her for full custody based on her past action never really giving her a chance(past issues keep him from seeing her) the chemistry is intense and the magnetic pull can’t be ignored but why didn’t he see how hard she worked to become a nurse, why didn’t he see she was a great mom, will he always blame her, will he get to know her, will she forgive and can they find happiness?

Cage and Maddie . . .

Maddie was keeping secrets about her daughter, Ela. Secrets rarely stay that way, so this will be a big problem for her. Maddie started out doing lots of partying and getting drunk. She has changed all that, yet when Cage becomes her new boss, knowing she was his brother’s ex and blaming her for his drinking, he is pretty hostile to her. He gets even more hostile when that secret Maddie has been keeping is a 3-year-old daughter, and he naturally assumes she is his brother’s little girl. Will they ever get this straightened out? Will Maddie tell him how she feels and remind him of the past that he has forgotten? He won’t be able to forgive her if he doesn’t understand the truth. And even if she tries, will he believe her now?

There is much going on here, so grab your copy and see if the truth can be discovered. Keeping secrets is rarely a good idea, and especially in this situation.

This is Cage and Maddie’s story. Maddie used to lead a life of partying and drinking until she finds out that she is pregnant, and she completely changes her life around to become a responsible adult, and clean up her act, and she enrols into a nursing program to support herself and her little girl. One her fist day at work she is running late, only to find pediatric surgeon Cage waiting for her impatiently to start on a surgery. Cage know who Maddie is as she is his brothers ex, and he blames her for ruining his brothers’ life, and when he finds out there is a child involved, he is adamant that she is an unfit mother, and giver her a month to prove herself. This is an intriguing story which is filled with secrets, family, drama, emotions, revenge, jealousy, and love, which leads to an addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend.

Second Chance - Cage and Maddie

Maddie's a single mom starting a new job. She's determined to keep her bubbly 3 year old daughter and prove that she's a good mom as a recovering alcoholic. The last thing she needs is to run into a blast from her past as her new boss, her ex's brother. She's no longer the party girl dating Cage's brother, but a responsible nurse. Will Cage stop her from her goal of starting over with a good job in a new city as a single mom? Will past abuse cause Maddie to ignore the attraction she feels for Cage despite their unusual circumstances? Can these two navigate the treacherous waters of medical hospital politics to come to a truce or will Maddie have to start over somewhere else? Trigger warnings: there is mention of abuse, but it is primarily off the page.

Maddie is a feisty mom that has overcome personal afflictions to make a better life than what she had for her daughter. As her past comes roaring back in the form of a hot uptight alpha Doc it nearly sends all her hard work up in the air.
Cage is an uptight grumpy doctor that juggles more than he can handle but like a true alpha male he thinks it’s under control. But when a blast from his past comes stumbling back into his life he gets thrown for a loop.
I liked the dynamics between Maddie and Cage because changing preconceived notions is hard for everyone. Who people were and who they became is sometimes hard to accept.
It did at times progress quickly it wasn’t at such an alarming rate that you get lost like some. But overall I love a good HEA and this book brought that for me.

Maddie, Cage and Ben all dealt with abusive parents but each took a different route to grow into someone strong and determined in the right direction. Maddie did that when she found out she was pregnant. Now four years later, she is done with her degree and starting a nursing job.... with Dr. Cage. She was not prepared for that one.
The characters have great backstories and intense feelings about everything around them. The storyline has drama, surprises such as who the daddy is, twists like seeing the same thing happening to a young boy at the hospital, and learning to accept that others also came out better than before. Loved what they did for the little abused boy. The ending was great.

Maddie had a child but Cage had doubts about her suitability as a mother and giving her two months to prove herself.
This was an intense book full of conflict and sarcasm. Cage was hot, but an arrogant jerk to Maddie. Considering who he was to me it was not excusable. But he redeemed himself in the end.
Their chemistry was good once they got their act together but originally it was non existent. Mainly because they had history.
Well written, the dialogue was great and the writing style was fresh and original. Good book!

A Destined Family Reunion -
The morning Maddie started her new job didn’t go smoothly, but what she didn’t expect was to have a run in with her new boss, who was also her ex-boyfriend’s brother, Cage. Unfortunately, things didn’t get any better as the day went on, but everything came to a head when Cage came to her apartment at the end of the day and met her daughter Ela, a truly precocious three year old. The story had a good flow to it and a depth to the characters, which really drew me into the story. Another must read story, that you will absolutely love reading.

This book had my undivided attention from the get go. Maddie is a single mother of 3 year old Ela. She has had a difficult life which has caused her to have trust issues. Cage is a typical alpha male who has his own difficult past and has a misconstrued idea of who Maddie is due to some misunderstandings and miscommunications. Ela is an adorable, typical tot that will bring smiles to your face. The story of them coming together will make you laugh, cry and even cringe at times. Yet another wonderful read by the lovely Miss Sofia. I look forward to the next one!

Maddy is starting her new job at the hospital and who does she see, but Cage her exes brother. He does not know about her daughter, she kept it away from the family so she would not loose Ele. Cage cannot believe the new nurse is brother's ex that was always drunk when he saw her just like his mother.

I really liked the story, the interaction between the characters, even the anger. There were time you wanted to shake each of them for different reasons. The chemistry between the two was so hot.

This is my first book by the author and look forward to others.

4.5 stars This was a book full of a lot of different emotions. Alcoholism, abuse of a child, jealous, cheating, secret baby, work romance, sadness and romance. Cage and Maddy work together and she is his brother's ex girlfriend who broke up with him 4 years prior. Secrets come out and their is a fallout due to those secrets as well as work drama between Maddy and another nurse and Cage and another doctor. This was a great book and thoroughly kept me engaged. This was my first read by Sofia and will probably not be my last. Written well and dealt with real life circumstances.
