An island with a secret, deep inside the Bermuda Triangle.
After a tumultuous year, the last thing on John Decker’s mind when he and fiancé, Nancy, arrive on the tropical island paradise of Singer Cay, is the Bermuda Triangle. He’s about to marry the woman he loves, surrounded by friends and family. A well-earned break and a dream destination wedding.
But Singer Cay hides a dark and mysterious past. There’s the abandoned resort on the far side of the island, where another bride vanished on her own wedding night one hundred years ago, during a storm that blew up out of nowhere.
A quarter century later, as thunder rumbled and lighting split the sky, a squadron of Navy torpedo bombers on a routine training exercise flew over the island and vanished into thin air.
Now another deadly storm is rolling in, a violent tempest with the power to separate Decker and Nancy before they can even say I do, and plunge them deep into the heart of the Bermuda Triangle…
Last Resort is part of the John Decker series of novels, however, each book is a standalone story and does not require you to have read the other books in the series.
Fans of James Rollins, Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, and Clive Cussler, will love the John Decker series.
Another fast paced thriller with a unique premise? Yes please! John Deck gets married in this one…or tries to, at least. He and Nancy are on an island owned by CUSP along with their friend Mina, and John’s colleagues Adam, Callum, and Rory. Right when John is about to say “I do” a soaked woman in an old fashioned wedding dress crashes through the doors. She’s distraught and claims to be from the year 1912. When John and Co set out to discover the origins of her timehop, they’re caught in the same vortex she was and sent back to 1942.
Trapped on an island with a mysterious military presence and a man-eating beast, John and his friends have to use every ounce of knowledge and cunning they possess if they’re going to make it back to their time…hopefully in one piece. So yes, this was fun! Lots at play, and the ending was a real cliffhanger, which doesn’t happen with this series much!
Wow, this John Decker adventure stretched the limits of even my imagination. Not my favorite in the series, but after that ending, I am definitely looking forward to the next novel!
This is one of my current favourite series I read at the moment of John Deckers adventures whether dealing with something supernatural or something damn right weird, the secret agency he works for always surprises him everytime and he ends up in god knows what situations.
Well this story is about John and Nancy going to an island to get married on a private CUSPs island, I ask you say what could go wrong you really wouldn't believe it you just have to read this next instalment.
I had trouble putting the book down one more chapter then another, any spare time my kindle was in my hands. I went to bed even thinking of what has happened in the story and also when I woke up in the morning too.
Well I finished the book today, and found myself shouting out loud NO NO NO WAY!!! You can't leave it there. Now a request please ....... hurry up with the next book 10, like really hurry up.
Another Great Adventure for John Decker and Friends!!!
I was absolutely thrilled with this book!!! Once again the story was Amazing!!! I always have loved stories about the Bermuda Triangle, and this book didn't disappoint me!!! What could be better than a Wedding on a beautiful tropical island? I loved the way the author deals with the Time Travel. The characters are really great and I was on the edge of my seat until the very last page!!! Once again John Decker was dealing with protecting his friends from a very scary monster and it was amazing. Once again, I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves mystery and excitement that takes place in the Bermuda Triangle! It was a fantastic book! Very well written and I can't wait for more by Anthony M. Strong!!!!!
I picked up LAST RESORT on Kindle Unlimited. It was my first Anthony Strong novel, and WOW, it will not be my last!
The story starts with a woman crashing a wedding on a small island in the Bahamas, whom they eventually find out appeared during a severe storm...from the year 1912. John Decker and his friends jump into action to find out how a woman from a hundred years previously suddenly appeared on the island, which triggers an exciting chain of events.
The book is well written and edited. It started slow at first, but then the pace picked up. If a book doesn't grab me by about 20% into it, I tend to abandon it, though I usually hate to do it, because life's too short to slosh through a book that you don't enjoy. In this case, though it didn't hook me right away, I'm glad I kept reading.
It's marketed on Amazon as a supernatural thriller, and maybe I missed something, but I'm not sure where the supernatural part of the story was. When I think of "supernatural," I think of ghosts or some other type of "unhuman" entities, none of which there were. There was a time travel element to the story, so maybe that is where the supernatural element lies. It's also marketed as horror, and again, it didn't feel like it belongs in that genre either. To me, it is just a good mystery/suspense novel. Nonetheless, it was a great and exciting read.
If I had one petty negative thing to say about it, it would be that some of the dialogue was stilted and dry and could have been improved upon in places, but that is just my subjective opinion. I certainly wouldn't let that keep you from picking up the book.
Time travel isn't a genre that I gravitate towards, and if you think it isn't for you either, then I highly suggest you break the mold and try something new and read this book. I don't think you'll regret it.
LAST RESORT grabs you right from the start with a mysterious disappearance and takes you along for a tightly written thrill of a ride. Coming into a John Decker book you have certain expectations. No disappointment here. The story has a flow that keeps you in the tale with some favorite characters from other Decker adventures. Ending on a bit of a cliffhanger, I am on pins and needles to find out what happens next. I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest and unbiased review
Another highly enjoyable John Decker adventure where as per usual things don't go to plan and the man finds himself in the midst of disaster. This was another solid book, providing some interesting insight into the origins of CUSP among other things
That said, I had to knock a star off for the horrible cliffhanger ending which now forces me to get the next book. This author has done an admirable job in avoiding cliffhanger endings in this series so far so its irritating to see it happening now. Don't expect any resolution to this story here.
Yet another good story in the John Decker saga. Decker and his team are transported and become trapped on an island in history's past. They have to contend with all sorts of strange happenings, including a prehistoric-era creature on the loose, wreaking havoc on the island. Will Decker and his team capture the creature? And, better yet, will Decker and his team return to the present time?
This story was full of action and suspense all the way through. As always, a fun, easy, and entertaining read. I look forward to the next installment in the John Decker series.
Another excellent adventure. Just what i expect from a John Decker adventure. All the usual characters are back to travel through time and fight monsters. I would have liked more of the story to have been about fighting the monster. I feel like they dealt with it very quickly but that doesn't matter too much. It was interesting and left it partially open ended which i feel like is a first for this series. I want more! I want to know what happens. Great read though. Definitely recommend.
This book is insane! John Decker is back and ready to marry Nancy, but the fates have other plans when a strange woman shows up during their ceremony. What a wild ride Decker and the other CUSP agents go on in this latest thriller. I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say this, READ IT!! Oh and when is the next one due out cause I need to know what's going to happen next! Highly recommend!
Wow! This book is just jam-packed with one thrill after another. While on a Caribbean island preparing for his nuptials, Decker runs into one of the most intense and scary situations of his career. I couldn't put this book down once I got started. And was I rewarded in the end? Oh course! Now I really can't wait to read the next Decker adventure.
***I received an ARC of this book from the author. My review is strictly voluntary.***
Mr Strong can certainly build suspense. However, in this book he seems to have gone off the rails. Almost everything is repeated unnecessarily. Decker has evolved from a reluctant hero to a take charge hero even overriding his boss for most of this book. The dialog is not as natural as the early books, which were very good. I would like to see more stories like the first few.
This latest adventure of John Decker does not disappoint. All the great characters are there. The storyline is fast, exciting and unpredictable. As with the previous exploits of Decker you get drawn into the story.and don't want to stop reading. The ending is dynamic and unexpected. I definitely recommend read this book. I received a complimentary copy of this book and leave an honest review.
I received a complimentary copy of this book to review. It is the latest book in the John Decker series, it is fast paced with twists and turns and an unexpected ending. It is written in such a way that makes you want to read "just one more chapter" Although it is part of a series it could be read as a stand alone story. I would definitely recommend it.
And, just like that, I am once again out of John Decker reading material. Once again Mr. Strong has written a very enjoyable and fast paced book. Although I must say I was not expecting the end. I hope the next John Decker book isn't too far away. I need another fix. Thank you Mr. Strong for always putting a good story down in words.
Cunning tale that sets the scene for John Decker to travel in time and to meet the original Knights of St George. Here we have a look at the Bermuda Triangle and get a glimpse of flight 19. Whilst this book may be a filler or a scene setter it is one to read. Strong writing, strong characters and superb scene setting!
Really enjoyed reading this story and the time travel it involved. Only trouble is it ended in a to be continued and now we have to pre-order and wait until August to see what happened. At least there is the prelude to the John Decker series to keep us up happy for a few days.
As usual John Decker manages to get himself in trouble but he may be lost to his time forever! This was a story of time travel that didn’t include a DeLorean and John Decker never made it back to his correct time period. Only time will tell if he can get himself out of this mess. Can’t wait to read the next book!
John Decker and his companions get caught up in a terrific storm while trying to help a lost woman in distress. Will he marry his love or will he lose her forever? Explosive installment in the series and a jaw dropping cliffhanger ending make this a must read! So excited for the next adventure!
Satisfying entry in the series. A bit heavy on talk and light on action but I still found it a page turner. Sometimes I really had to suspend belief and just go with the flow and I'm happy I did. The end was fun and had one heck of a cliffhanger. Can't wait for the next book as I can't imagine how the author will resolve this one.
I have read all the previous John Decker books and this one was good but for me not 5-star like his others. There was more focus on how are they going to get home than the monsters. I definitely did not like how it ended. I would have given this book only 3 stars but it had all the characters I've grown to like reading the series. I really hope the situation gets resolved in the next book and the series gets back on track for me.
What do you get when you add John Decker to the Bermuda Triangle? A wild ride with some.pretty fun theories played out. Yes there are "monsters" but there are also delicious conspiracy theory style twists, and a cliffhanger finish. Definitely worth a read, and a good fun journey
I volunteered to review a complimentary copy of this book. And what hat a fantastic book it is. I really couldn't put it down. Anthony really used all his literary skils in this fast action packed book. A must read.
Decker is trying to have his wedding on a island in Bermuda. When a storm brings a person from one hundred plus years ago. Decker goes to investigate and he and others end up in the past. Can they find away back? And survive the creatures on the island?
Another great adventure with John Decker. I really enjoy this series with Decker. I don't think two men could get as much trouble as John. Great story and I recommend reading.
You are mean, you left me hanging at the end of this book and now I have to wait 6 months till the next book to see what happened to the characters. But I LOVE all your books!
Love the John Decker series! Non-stop action and I love how myths are turned on their heads in a new way. I really like how the main character is an ordinary guy dealing with extraordinary circumstances. No spoilers but sad about a certain outcome.
This tale adds another fantastic entry to this unusual series. I look forward to Book Ten. Will it be the last or will we have even more tales that dive into history and/or mythology?
Very good story line, with lots of new possibilities opening up. Good mix of sympathetic characters, that you care about, leaving you wanting more. Looking forward to the next one.
