Sugar Wood

I never imagined something so twisted and toxic could become my future, but I want it. I want every ounce of their poisonous passion.

★★★★★ "Sugar Wood isn’t your normal romance book. It’s dark, gritty, sensual in all the wrong places, and will leave you gasping." -Andrea, Goodreads Review-

I don't believe in evil or enchantments. I know better than to believe in things that don't exist. But I'm certain of the sickness of humanity and the twisted energy it leaves behind… and Sugar Wood Forest is infected with it.

My home is infected, too. The preppy college boy and his heiress stepsister I've trapped within it will feel the effects of that soon enough.

They said they were lost when they stumbled upon my cabin in the woods, but I'd seen them out there earlier trying to bury their secrets together—the same way I'd buried mine. I should've sent them away, but instead I stole them and locked them up.

And now their own wicked energy plagues me, drawing us all together with toxic desire.

These two are my secret now.
But I haven't decided yet whether they're a secret worth keeping or burying.

This dark romance is a twisted retelling of Hansel & Gretel featuring an MMF relationship. This story involves many triggering elements which may be upsetting for some readers. A complete list of tropes and triggers can be found on the author's website.

Holy Sickness!!
What a ride!!!

The moment I read the blurb i was hooked!!! And I have to say it was worth the waiting 😍😍🔥🔥

It was twisted, raw and totally fucked up!!
And I LOVED IT!!!

Sugar Wood is a dark retelling of Hansel & Gretel tale.

Glory is broken girl.
After years of abuses she finally snaps and get in motion a chain of events that will lead her to her true destiny and to accept herself and her darkness.

Huxley is Glory' stepbrother.
He is the "savior", the light in Glory' life and he would do anything to help her.
That’s why he find himself knocking on a cabin door in the middle of the night in a snowy wood with Glory...

That’s when their path cross Ambrose one...

Ambrose is a rough man who embraced his darkness long time ago.
He lives hidden, or better "trapped", in Sugar Wood.
When he found Glory and Huxley on his property he knows he can’t let them go...

It's the beginning of something kinda magical but in a dark dark way 😏😏

While Glory and Huxley already have a special bond that gonna turn into something more intimate; their bond with Ambrose gonna be kinda immediate and haunting.
It's like they are under a sick spell.
And I feel it for the whole book!!

But it's hard explain it!!
That's why it took me more than one week to write this review 🙈

The story is fast paced, and intriguing with all the suspense, tension and the twist and turns 😍
It was captivating!!

The author took her time to develope each relationship: Glory & Ambrose's attraction and their similar pain, the similar darkness that reside in their souls; Huxley & Ambrose's crave for each other, their similar protective nature;
the three of them together, and their magical bond, the way Huxley's light balance Ambrose and Glory's darkness.

I loved the multiple pov because it made the reading more complete.
And I loved loved that ending: so romantic in its dark way.

“I see you, little bird…

… I see all of you, and I know exactly what you are.”

Ok so I have mixed feelings on this one. I think the overall plot was intriguing, but there were things that just didn’t hit for me like I wanted them to. Also there were things that just kept taking me out of the story. That said I think that this dark and twisted Hansel & Gretel reimagining will be a total hit for many people. It’s depraved and twisted and I think that many will enjoy that.

TW: rape, mentions of sexual molestation, violence, abuse, captivity.

I had such high hopes for this book. It started strong and had such great potential; however for me, it fizzed and had some reputation. I couldn't connect with any of the characters.

I have such conflicted feelings; I love the plot and dark retelling of Hansel and Gretel. On the other hand, I didn't love the book. Furthermore, I do recommend, before reading A Twisted Tales novel, to read Grimm’s fairy tales. All his tales have a darker twist Vs. other fairy tales.

Maybe it is just me; my concern is I felt there was a plot hole surrounding the forest and its effects. I get that the forest is dark. It just didn't seem that the forest was that dark and believable. Yes, I did open my mind to think, I just felt it needed a little more mystery.

This may not have been for me; however, it could be your five-star read. On my dark sale, it's medium gray.

Glory Tolliver was a candy heiress but life was everything but sweet. Behind her family’s public facade laid a dark secret that was only made bearable by the support of her stepbrother Huxley Hill. And their comfortable life was about to change when they stumbled upon Ambrose Bishop deep in the woods.

Hansel and Gretel is one of my favorite fairytales, and I enjoyed the author’s take on the story. However, the story could use more a little more detail, especially on the characters’ background.

We come together.
We collapse together.
We find bliss in the madness together.

This book had several elements that I love in dark books and the dynamics heated up the sexy scenes. While I liked all the characters and how the villains were portrayed, my favorite was Ambrose.

Sugar Wood is a story of taking back control of one’s life. It would appeal to fans of a dark fairytale retelling.

This story was NOT a romance. It is a ménage kidnapping- captive story. Too often the descriptions towards the truple were turnoffs. I never saw a need to root for them.

This is the first book in the Twisted Tales collection and my first time reading this author. I’m seriously conflicted on how to properly review this book. While the story, as a whole, was good there were many points within that didn't sit well with me. They actually irritate TF out of me and led to me continually starting & stopping my read of this ARC.

🍭very loose reimagining of Hansel & Gretel
🍭MMF story, not a romance
🍭opens with a parental noncon scene & retribution
🍭stepsiblings fall for their captor
🙄 poorly depicted sexual attraction, it’s magic not real
🍭closes with a dubcon scene

Glory Tolliver is heir to Tolliver's Treats, a maple syrup confectionery company. Glory's mom died at a young age, leaving her alone with her father. That's when he decided his daughter made a good substitute in his bed. Even after he remarries he continues to prefer his daughters embrace. Maura Tolliver is a despicable woman who doesn't care about her own son, Huxley Hill, or her new stepfamily. All she cares about is gaining control of Tolliver's Treats.

Finally having gotten out of the house and away from her father's wandering hands, Glory believes she is safe. But when Beau threatens to take her freedom away she caves and goes home to service him. Only this time something in her snaps and she violently kills him. This is the moment that sets off a ridiculous chain of events.

While trying to cover up the murder Huxley and Glory get lost in the woods, during a snow storm, and end up stumbling upon a cabin. Hoping for shelter they are instead imprisoned and soon succumb to the lustful haze that engulfs the solitary location. This is where it gets weird - when carnal urges become too strong it’s said to be magic, dark forces, energies, etc. Never is it a human emotion, a want, or a need. So basically their all drugged by an invisible, non-magic, magical force that makes them too aroused to control themselves.

I understand why Huxley and Glory feel bad for each other in an intimate way. They were raised as stepsiblings after all. But to call their coupling ‘poison’ was ridiculous. I can even understand being conflicted when they realized they were infatuated with their captor, Ambrose Bishop. But again to characterize their sex in a revolting manner wasn’t appealing. There are more clever ways to describe forbidden attractions. For starters, the uncontrollable need to fuck after committing a crime and riding that high would have been a great way to hide the attraction the stepsiblings had been denying existed.

Here are examples of what I mean by awkward descriptions:
🥴 “They both want me. They both want me to leave. But if I leave, this is over…this 𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘬, 𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 will heal and the twisted perfection in my gut will stop.”

🥴 “This—this fire, this heat, this 𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 between the three of us—is something I want.”

🥴 “I don't know what the fuck this is, but this shifting, pulsing 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺 between us is 𝘵𝘰𝘹𝘪𝘤, 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘴, and is eating me alive from the inside out.”

ADDED NOTE: I went back and read the original Hansel and Gretel from the Brothers Grimm since I was curious how the stories intersected. And while we do have an evil stepmother and two sibling, the person in the woods is an old blind witch and the children’s dad is actually a good man.

Anyone want to get lost in the woods after reading this? Or is it just me?

Sugar Wood is a play on Hansel and Gretel and is a first for me from Brynn Ford. If her other books are anything like this, this will not be the last!

This is what I love - the rational part of me KNOWS the scenes in this story are bad and shouldn't be okay but the way the author writes this story, it's like she cast this sensual spell over me just like the woods cast one over the characters in the story.

If you can handle triggers, are a dark romance lover and don't mind sharing (wink wink), I HIGHLY recommend this book!

***4,5 "My little bird!!!" stars***

ΝOW AVAILABLE!!!

"What's wrong, little bird? Does being locked in a cage frighten you? Or does it set you free?"

Dark, twisted, raw, sinister, steamy....
These are some of the words that can describe this twisted retelling of "Hansel and Gretel" by Brynn Ford...
Honestly, I have no words of what I've read in here!!!
This story was sooo twisted and I might be twisted myself, cause I freakin' loved it and I couldn't put my kindle down!!!
Brynn Ford created a magical word full of lust, depravity and dark characters!!! And I enjoyed every single moment in it!!!

"The dark magic feeling of Sugar Wood Forest ripples through the branches, clawing at the frigid air, infecting it with sin that sinks inside me."

Glory is a broken girl, even though she appeared to be an entitled princess to the world...
Until the moment that she is saying no more and she is bowing to her carnal insticts...
Now, she is entering a sinister and dark world that she never imagined that it exists!!!

"How could I feel safer strung up in an isolated cabin with a feral creature than I could in my own home?"

Hexley is Glory's stepbrother....
He is under her spell since the moment he met her, but he was keeping his distance...
He was always the protector and he could do anything for his Glory...
He will even go into the darkness of the forest to hide their sinister secrets...

"I always know what to do. I always save her. But in this... I might not be able to save myself."

Welcome to Sugar Wood forest, a place with its own dark magic...
When Glory and Hexley are stepping their foots inside Sugar Wood and they lose their way back home, by a twisted miracle they are stepping upon a small cabin hidden deep into the woods...
Their biggest mistake is to knock on this door, because the owner of this cabin is not someone willing to help them...

"You two are my secret now. But I haven't decided whether it's a secret worth keeping... or burying."

OMG!!! These woods had a dark energy full of magic indeed!!!
Glory, Hexley and Ambrose are becoming a strange and messy tangle...
Glory and Ambrose recognize each other's darkness...
Hexley is balancing between them with his light...
There was a crazy intensity between them that had them all twisted up in knots!!!
Honestly, their situation is not normal, but their interactions were hot as hell and I 've been swept away into their twisted reality and I didn't want to let go!!!

"We'll be ruined for anyone else because no one will be able to survive our poison. Only us."

Wow!!! This was a very wild ride!!! It gave me such a rush!!!
I always liked twisted versions of fairytales, but I think that this one was the most impressive retelling of Hansel and Gretel.
And I'm super curious for the next books in these twisted tales!!!
The only sure thing is that this collection of retellings had started with a big bang!!! And I'm craving for more!!!

""A strange, primal energy surrounds this place and it's drawing out parts of me I've repressed for far too long."

4⭐️ 5🌶 (I don't give 5 for spice easily so trust me when I say this was 🥵)

ouhhh chile this was wild! where do I even start

This was my first book from Brynn and will definitely not be my last.

This was a MMF steamy & dark Hansel & Gretel retelling. Again, I went into this book blind and I'm glad I did because this was a wild ride. I did not expect this and oufff, but in a good way.

This was dark, gritty, forbidden & hot to say the least ! That trio left me speechless in a lot of scenes and that doesn't happen often. The storytelling, the pace, you really felt like you were in the story as well !

Can't wait to see more of this author !

Please note that this book contains mature subjects so please check CW/TW before reading.

ARC was provided to me for an honest review.

Ok, so I’m on the fence with this one. I loved the relationship, loved the steam and spice, loved the storyline. Buuut … but. This constant mention of the forest being evil, of all three of them being sick (or rather, having sick, wicked minds and urges) thanks to their environment, without ever truly getting into why that is, was frustrating for me. I wanted more of that paranormal element. Desperately. And while I loved the names Huxley and Ambrose, I struggled whenever I came across Glory’s name. I blame my dirty, depraved mind. Lol.

However, back to the good stuff: I still quite enjoyed this wild, twisted retelling of Hansel & Gretel. It’s not a retelling you come across often, which alone makes this book unique. Add in a taboo-ish MMF relationship forming under rather gloomy circumstances in a shed in the middle of a dark forest, some blood and gore, and some seriously explosive, raw and rough sex scenes, and you have one helluva crazy ride.

ALSO, because it needs to be mentioned: Even though Huxley and Glory are step siblings and have known each other since childhood and only just met Ambrose, there is a balance to their relationship, no one is made to feel like a third wheel, which I appreciated more than I can say.

SUGAR WOOD is the first book of an anthology of dark fairy tale retellings written by different authors, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next one!

There’s a perverse sickness that exists in the Sugar Wood, seeping into crevices and infecting everything its tendrils touch. Deadly secrets lie beneath blankets of snow, and a lone cabin deep within promises either death or salvation.

Sugar Wood is a twisted tale of retribution and redemption loosely based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale, Hansel and Gretel. Readers are immediately delivered straight into a nightmare, where young Glory returns home from college straight into the hands of her sickly depraved father. No longer willing to take his abuse, she reclaims her life by taking his.

In an attempt to hide her crime, Glory and her beloved stepbrother, Huxley, haul the corpse into the Sugar Wood only to lose their way. Instead of stumbling upon a witch’s house made of treats, they fall into the clutches of a man of darkness with hidden scars and a penchant for suffering. And Ambrose Bishop has secrets of his own.

Brynn Ford has taken liberties with this classic and turned it into something completely her own. A surprising plot built with layers of delicious tension and angst emerges, dragging readers deeper into the dark woods. A devastating truth comes to light, solidifying an alliance to unleash the demons within and spill even more blood upon the snow.

Each of the leading characters are different shades of deranged due to the abuse they’ve endured throughout their lives. The evolution of the relationship between Glory, Huxley and Ambrose occurs alongside each learning more about the other, and their chemistry goes from searing to explosive. The spice is incredibly raw with steamy MMF dynamics, and while it seems everything progressed quickly, everything just felt strangely right.

Dark and atmospheric, Sugar Wood promised me a mysterious, wicked journey and that’s exactly what I got. Not all of my questions were answered, but that’s ok…fairytales oftentimes allow our imaginations to fill the gaps. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this trio and am sad to say goodbye so soon. I’m looking forward to continuing my journey through the Twisted Tales collection.

How could I feel safer strung up in an isolated cabin with a feral creature than I could in my own home?

A Hansel and Gretel retelling where the siblings are also lovers and the big bad villian's house they stumble upon will be the one saving them.
Yes.

The spirit was there.
It wasn't bad.
But the execution wasn't there.
It wasn't bad per say but i wasn't also a GREAT book.

Read for the smut and the vibes.

What can I say about Sugar Wood other than Holy CRAP!!! Brynn brings a dark and dirty book to life in this retelling of Hansel & Gretel. I have to say you should really notice the warning signs when you start this book. There is a lot of crazy sh*t in this book that some people might not like.

This story is all about redemption on who has messed with your childhood. Can you find love and trust with someone after the person you should trust most in your life has ruined you? Glory has to answer those questions for herself when she is put into a cage with her stepbrother. The man that does this to them is a monster all on his own.

Everyone has a past, these three just happen to have a darker one than most. Can they heal each other and find love, unlike anything they ever had before?

I want to start off by saying that I love the plot of the story.
We have Glory, the FMC of the book killing a child molester and sexual predator right in the first chapter. She gets the help of her step-brother (who’s always been there for her) to haul his body off into Sugar Woods, land her family owns, to bury the body.
What they don’t know, is someone is out there watching exactly what they’re doing. The sun goes down, it’s snowing, and they quickly get turned around and lost.

They end up finding a cabin and are begging for help. It’s cold. What they quickly realize is they don’t get help but are slammed into a human sized cage that is already built-in to this cabin.

And this is where this book lost me.
You have someone who has locked you into a cage and shackled you. And you find him attractive so you were going to let him do things to you, even though you are a victim of incest and rape for years, you suddenly fall in love with the bad guy. And while you are locked up in a cage, you decide that you are going to do things with your stepbrother as well.
It’s weird as fuck. Zero relationship build up. InstaLove to the max.
I kept reading because I’m no quitter. Their are other scenarios on why “the bad guy“ did the things he was doing. Of course their was. 🤨
“ involvement means connection, and connection is dangerous knowing what I have to do to these two beautiful creatures trapped in my childhood cage“.

There was more murder and vengeance.
This is a MMF story. Yes to HEA.

"I want you. I want him. I want the odd, dark, intense feeling I have when you're both in the room with me."

Sugar Wood is a dark retelling of Hansel and Gretal about two step siblings who end up lost in the woods after doing something they shouldn’t be and ending up finding a random cabin in the woods. Instead of receiving help from the mysterious man in his cabin, they end up his prisoners. This a polyamorous story and I really liked the way Brynn Ford took this story and turned it into a dark MMF! I felt it started off strong but I did kind of lose the connection to the story about halfway through. ultimately, it didn’t really work for me but I think others will really enjoy it.

This is a dark retelling of Hansel and Gretel ... if the old crone in the middle of the forest was a hot twenty-something crazy person. Speaking of crazy people ... this is a book full of crazy people. Seriously. All five of the only people who show up in this story are total psychopaths ... even the main characters who we are supposed to be rooting for. Glory's father and step-mother are AWFUL, and capital letters just don't adequately portray just how awful they are. No nuance here. They're just terrible. Glory, Huxley, and Ambrose are not so awful, but they are psychopaths ... violent ones. Psychotic ones. Sure, maybe you can understand why they are violent and psychotic, but what they really needed was lots and lots and lots of THERAPY. In-house therapy with some good drugs to help them cope with their twisted histories. Instead, we get a story where all they need are EACH OTHER. (insert eye roll)

It'll be a bit spoilery to continue, so don't read on if you don't want to know more ... although you could totally guess how this was going to play out from the very beginning of Glory and Huxley's captivity. First of all, there is way too much glorification of extreme violence in this story. Yeah, the parents are awful, and maybe you could wrap your head around the need for them to die, but these three, and Glory in particular, take a perverse amount of PLEASURE in the killing. They like the dirty work here, so much so that a weird sort of violent role-playing takes place in their "HEA". (The quotes are meaningful in that wacky HEA we're supposed to be happy about). Why are these three so attracted to each other? Ambrose threw them into a cage and planned to kill them. Yeah, he's got a tragic backstory, but even without knowing it, Glory decided she didn't want to run away from him when given the chance. She was drawn to him. Sooooo weird and creepy. And then the HEA? I'm not buying it. Sorry, but you can't just plop somewhere in the middle of a forest somewhere without cash, build your own log cabin, grow your own food, and just manage to survive. You can do a lot of things off the grid, but you need some sort of community. You need cash for some things. Where do they get their clothes? By the end of the story I was so sick of Glory, Huxley, and Ambrose that I didn't have enough good will left in me to buy their HEA existence. I did end up reading the book all the way through, so there is that, but I don't think I'm going to be looking for any more of Brynn Ford's twisted fairy tales. Two stars. This was okay.

For most of her life, Glory Tolliver didn’t have a say in how she was treated. Finding a savior in Huxley Hill, they share an unbreakable bond, but that connection leads them into a trap. At the hands of their captor, Glory and Huxley harness their strengths and find themselves in a unique situation.

“How did we wind up here? How did we shift so easily from one nightmare to another?”

As the story begins, the tone is intense and it only escalates as Glory and Huxley become entangled in a different predicament. With the addition of Ambrose, he serves as the catalyst for embracing darkness and also what Glory and Huxley have denied for so long. Told in multiple POV, each bears their own suffering and this forges a bond among this trio.

In this Twisted Tales retelling of Hansel and Gretel, the menacing energy of Sugar Wood seems to permeate those who enter. The MMF component certainly sizzled the pages. However, I would have liked more development between the characters, which would have strengthened their relationship by far. Ultimately, the ending fit these characters perfectly.

Sugar Wood is about overcoming trauma and forging one’s own path. This book would appeal to those seeking a lusty romance in a dark setting.

I had an weird brain from the start and these types of books are my cure lol.
This was a retelling of an tale which I haven't read yet but this is the romantic in my tongue and psychotic in normal person tongue.
♣ First of all my cast.
• GLORY (19)
cf2d92461916cdab182e8f75ea15fd25
♣The girl who endure so much but at the end fight off her demons♣

• HUX(22)
f57b4e40ff8017ee551b1994dbad5b32
♣The protector of the group♣

• AMBROSE(27 or 28)
7aa720b71224bc88d92e6795849eb7e8
♣The psychopath who wanted his freedom♣

The Story....
Now alot of things are happening in this book , so there will be tons of spoiler but I won't do that to it. Gorly and Hux gets lost in the woods and turns to Ambrose cabin where he kidnaps both of them and all these people try to fight each for there freedom and love.

It has hea for us psychotic minds so yaaaay. I know this book won't be my last from this author and this is my favourite one in twisted tales collection.

I enjoyed the first 1/4-1/2 of this book a lot! It was a good read, but something was lacking for me, personally. Not really even sure what it was. Not bad, by any means, just not my favorite.

This steamy dark romance is a twisted retelling of Hansel & Gretel which features an MMF relationship. I did not know what to expect going into this book. We first meet Glory who has had a traumatic childhood no thanks to her father, Then we meet her step brother Huxley and he will do anything for Glory and has been infatuated with her from afar for years. They go through something together and then they end up in the middle of the forest where they meet Ambrose.

The amount of twists and turns in this story had your head spinning, There was abit of insta love in this story but I did not mind that as Glory & Hux already had a connection. I really enjoyed the epilogue to see what happened to them all years later.

Plot Summary :
Glory and Huxley know that they two can only rely on one another. That is until Huxley leaves for college. He does not know that he is leaving Glory with a monster. When he returns, he finds that she is in more trouble and pain. Glory has never had an easy life. When the monsters live in your house and own them, she knows there is nowhere for her to go. That is until one day she snaps. She takes matters into her own hands and now everything is ruined. Both Huxley and Glory set put on a path to run but then get lost in the woods, only for them to stumble on a beautiful hut. What they don't know is about the monster that lives with it.

Ambrose is as merciless as he is beautiful. Having twisted parents has destroyed him beyond measure and now all that is left of him is a beast who will hurt anyone who dares cross his territory. That is until he stumbles up on a pair of a girl and boy who are clearly running from their own demons. A decent man would let them go but not ambrose. He traps them and now there is nowhere for them to run. No one but him will be their doom and he will make sure of it.

Overall Opinion :
Omg. I knew when I heard about this series that these authors were bringing which was based on turning fairytales into much more twisted romance novels! I knew they would drive me crazy and they definitely did so. This retelling of Hansel and Gretel by Brynn Woods is one of the craziest books I have ever read. The thrilling concept to it was the part that we knew about the innocent fairytale and had an inkling about how it would all turn but the darkness made this book so much more! It was simply amazing!

I jumped into this one as soon as it popped up on my kindle and finished it in one go. It was so amazing. It has a few triggers like kidnapping, a bit of a rough play, sexual assault scenes and darkness of course. Apart from that, the story went on smoothly and I loved this concept! I am so excited for more books like this of this world by the other authors too! Definitely recommending this book to all the dark MMF romance loving people out there !

Brynn Ford's "Sugar Wood" is the kind of book that's gonna set your e-reader on fire. We're talking sexy scenes that are hotter than a summer day, characters that'll make your heart race, and a fairytale vibe that's amazing all on its own, without being an exact carbon copy of Hansel & Gretel.

The smut scenes- They're not just good; they're practically scorching. Ford knows how to write chemistry that's off the charts. The passion between the characters jumps off the pages, making this book a must-read for anyone looking to spice up their reading list.

And speaking of characters, Ford gives us a duo that's the perfect mix. One guy's all sweet and attentive, basically a dream come true. Then, there's the rough-around-the-edges dude who's like a shot of adrenaline. It's a combo that keeps you flipping pages, wondering what these guys are gonna do next.

"Sugar Wood" throws in these cool nods to Hansel and Gretel without being a total copycat. Ford puts a modern spin on it, adding some spice to the fairytale flavor.

The whole journey is a wild, fun, and sexy ride that you won't want to end. The pacing might be a bit quick, but when you're having this much fun, who's counting?

So, if you're up for a hot and spicy romance that's part fairytale, part adult fantasy, "Sugar Wood" is your jam. Brynn Ford delivers a guilty pleasure that'll leave you grinning and wishing for more.

Copy received from the author. Voluntarily reviewing and all opinions are objective and my own.

What. Did. I. Read. And I say that in every positive way possible, because WOW. That was… Wow. I’m literally speechless.
If you’re looking for a dark read, this is it. I was reminded of a lot of Pepper Winters or even Tillie Cole with this book. Where the characters play in the darkness in such a way, you love them for it. Cheer them for it. It’s twisty in every aspect of this story, and honestly there isn’t one negative thing I can say about it.

Doubly so, this was a sexy read! Sexy.. more like, hot! Super hot, but also tastefully dark in the way it’s done. We get multiple situations here. Stepbrother and stepsister have secretly liked each other but never acted upon it. With their ages now and the crazy situation, they finally do. Double that with both characters having a unique feeling toward their captor, this has soon becomes a very spicy MMF romance, and honestly, the MM aspect was actually better than either MF of the romance. Something about the power dynamics between the two guys really did it.

Like I said, I have nothing bad I can say about this. Recommended read 10000%!

Brynn has reworked a classic fairy tale into something utterly entrancing. This dark retelling is absolutely spellbinding as its dark, depraved sickness into you with every word weaving into your soul so much you won't ever want it to end.

Glory is the young heiress with a future to look forward to that most can only dream of or so everyone perceives. In reality she's broken, abused and a shell of a person who's only trying to escape her darkest nightmare. What happens when the darkness takes over and fights back? A life changing event with resounding affects changes the course of multiple lives.

Huxley, has a saviour complex that has been ingrained into him from a young age. He has always been there to fix the mistakes and save his half sister Glory. He has always loved her, he has a connection with her that exists on a level he doesn't fully understand yet. This connection changes the course of his life.

One dark night changes everything, it sets in motion a series of events that will let in a darkness that sinks in deep and sets both Glory and Hux free. They meet a dark soul in Sugar Wood who both terrifies then and sets their souls alight.

The twists and turns in this story will steal your breath away and make you burn with dark desire. This truly is a twisted tale but in its darkness it is perfection.

A Twisted Tale is the best way to describe this book.
This Hansel and Gretel retelling was dark and twisted and I loved every second of it.
There was a hint of fantasy thrown in there but it was mostly a contemporary DARK setting.
Step Siblings, Kidnapping, bondage/rope play. MFM & MMF!
There was a lot of dark material in this story so check TW but I loved the rawness of it. Glory had truly bend through trauma in her life, and Huxley was always there to pick up the pieces. When Ambrose comes in, he takes their already budding lust for each other and heightens it to an extreme (with the help of the dark vibes coming off Sugar Woods).
If you’re into dark and twisted retellings, this one’s for you!

Sugar Wood is a dark, twisted, steamy and very descriptive MMF story. The main characters are Glory, Huxley and Ambrose. Glory and Huxley know each other, since their parents are married, but what Huxley doesn't know is how Glory's life was. So when Glory snaps and does something bad, Huxley is there for her to help her cover the tracks. They also met Ambrose, the mysterious man living in the woods, who at first has something else in his agenda than getting to know Glory and Huxley.

Sugar Wood makes Glory, Huxley and Ambrose to give in to their darkest desires, so be prepared for a steamy rollercoaster. The plot itself was also interesting, with some twists and turns. For sure this story broke the ice for this anthology and is a good retelling of Hansel and Gretel story.
Also, be aware of the triggers, there are some.

Although I'm not really into dark romace, there are some books that just...call to me. This is one of those books. I just had to pick it and read it. I was hooked from the start. And just couldn't stop reading. It was sick and twisted and bloody. And so, so dark. But..it was good too. Some times you have to do bad things to find the good.
