He is best known as a producer and writer for several Warner Bros./DC Comics series, including Star Wars: Ewoks, Tiny Toon Adventures, Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, The New Batman/Superman Adventures, Batman Beyond and Duck Dodgers. He also developed and scripted Krypto the Superdog and contributed scripts to Animaniacs (he created Minerva Mink), Freakazoid, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. After leaving Warner Bros. In early 2004, Dini went on to write and story edit the popular ABC adventure series Lost.
Paul Dini was born in New York City. He attended the Stevenson School in Pebble Beach, California on an art scholarship. He attended Emerson College in Boston, where he earned a BFA degree in creative writing. (He also took zoology classes at Harvard University.)
During college, he began doing freelance animation scripts for Filmation, and a number of other studios. In 1984, he was hired to work for George Lucas on several of his animation projects.
The episodes of the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon that were written by Dini have become favorites amongst the show's fans over the internet, although despite this as well as contributing to interviews on the released box sets of the series, Dini has made no secret of his distaste for Filmation and the He-Man concept. He also wrote an episode of the Generation One Transformers cartoon series and contributed to various episodes of the Ewoks animated series, several of which included rare appearances from the Empire.
In 1989, he was hired at Warner Bros. Animation to work on Tiny Toon Adventures. Later, he moved onto Batman: The Animated Series, where he worked as a writer, producer and editor, later working on Batman Beyond. He continued working with WB animation, working on a number of internal projects, including Krypto the Superdog and Duck Dodgers, until 2004.
He has earned five Emmy awards for his animation work. In a related effort, Dini was also the co-author (with Chip Kidd) of Batman Animated, a 1998 non-fiction coffee table book about the animated Batman franchise.
Dini has also written several comics stories for DC Comics, including an acclaimed oversized graphic novel series illustrated by painter Alex Ross. (A hardcover collection of the Dini and Ross stories was published in late summer 2005 under the title The World's Greatest Superheroes.) Other books written by Dini for DC have featured his Batman Animated creation Harley Quinn as well as classic characters Superman, Batman, Captain Marvel and Zatanna.
Best known among Dini's original creations is Jingle Belle, the rebellious teen-age daughter of Santa Claus. Dini also created Sheriff Ida Red, the super-powered cowgirl star of a series of books set in Dini's mythical town of Mutant, Texas. Perhaps his greatest character contribution is the introduction of Harley Quinn (along with designs by Bruce Timm) on Batman: The Animated Series.
In 2001 Dini made a cameo appearance in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back during the scene in which Jay and Silent Bob wear ridiculous looking costumes for a film being directed by Chris Rock, in which Dini says to them "you guys look pretty bad ass".
In 2006, Dini became the writer for DC Comics' Detective Comics. That same year, he announced that he was writing a hardcover graphic novel starring Zatanna and Black Canary. In 2007, he was announced as the head writer of that company's weekly series, Countdown. Paul Dini is currently co-writing the script for the upcoming Gatchaman movie. Para ser un tomo recopilatorio está muy bien. Te introduce al personaje en sí mismo y su historia. Para los fans de DC lo veo bastante interesante y además para aquellos que amen el dibujo, está lleno de diferentes estilos de artistas. Me parece que es de fácil lectura, y sirve para sacar referencias artísticas de muchos artistas.

Este segundo volumen de la colección “Héroes y Villanos” escrito por Jimmy Palmiotti y Amanda Conner, nos trae las aventuras de uno de los personajes más reconocidos y queridos de la franquicia DC Comics: Harley Quinn. Chad Hardin es el encargado de darle vida con un dibujo de calidad increíble, quien además colabora con otros renombrados artistas del cómic en este tomo.
En “Calor en la ciudad”, se cuenta la vida de la alocada psiquiatra tras emanciparse del Joker y establecerse en Coney Island, luego de heredar el apartamento de uno de sus antiguos pacientes en Gotham. La idea de rehacer su vida es interrumpida por un montón de cazarrecompensas que van tras la cabeza de Harley. Otros icónicos personajes del universo DC, como Poison Ivy y el viejo Sy Borgman ayudarán a Quinn a descubrir quien maquinó su cacería.
Acción frenética, diálogos irreverentes, humor negro, vuelcos llenos de ironía y arte impecable, son los elementos que hacen de esta entrega una lectura recomendada. El desquiciado e inquietante carisma de Harley y sus hilarantes y peligrosas aventuras, mantienen la tensión en todo momento, sin evadir una que otra carcajada por lo surreal de cada situación.
Uno de los detalles que más me fascinaron de este volumen, es la colaboración de varios dibujantes con estilos únicos en uno de los segmentos en los que Harley establecía un diálogo directo con sus guionistas.
A mí parecer, una excelente lectura para conocer más de la payasa del mal y sus entrañables aventuras.

A very fun read and a exploration of an unhinged, super sexy, super crazy Harley Queen. The drawings are very good and surprisingly consistant, even having a lot of artists involved. However, beyond the crazyness and fun there is little plot, and it’s solved in a very lousy way.

Drugi tom komiksów skupia się na postaci Harley Quinn, która swoim charakterystycznym wyglądem i zachowaniem podbiła rynek filmowy. Czy można to samo odczuć w komiksach?
Nieodłącznym elementem tej postaci jest oczywiście Joker, a tym samym na tapet wzięta jest relacja tej dwójki bohaterów. Już w pierwszym opowiadaniu, oprócz tego, że poznajemy początki znajomości Harley i Jokera to możemy już ustalić, że Joker oraz Batman nie pałają do siebie sympatią. "Gacek" psuje całą zabawę, Harley chce się zemścić, a Gotham City jest w gruzach.
Drugie opowiadanie (a przynajmniej tak je nazwijmy, bo nie do konca to było opowiadanie) przykuło moją uwagę przede wszystkim kreską, ponieważ każda kolejna strona przedstawiała główną bohaterkę tego tomu, ale rysowana była za każdym razem trochę inaczej (różni rysownicy).
Dalsza część związana z kamienicą na własność była równie ciekawa jak pierwsze opowiadanie - zlecenie na Harley, ratowanie psów oraz kotków, Walentynki i inne frapujące wydarzenia.
Harley Quinn jest postacią z czarnym humorem i to mocno wybrzmiewa w dialogach jak i jej postępowaniu. Kreska jest tak różnorodna, że ciężko jednoznacznie powiedzieć czy mi ona przypadła do gustu czy też nie. Częściowo tak, a częściowo bardzo dziwnie była rysowana twarz tej postaci. Jednak to był dla mnie bardzo ciekawy i poprawiający nastrój komiks, a co więcej, czuję się mocno zachęcona, żeby sięgnąć po kolejną część z tej serii.

Creo que todos los capítulos de este tomo los tengo repartidos entre la edición en inglés de Hot in The City (que tiene uno o dos issues más) y el viejo coleccionable Batman el caballero oscuro, en el número 4 (la primera aparición de Harley en el Universo DC oficial), pero igual estaba muy barato.

Por aproximación un 4,aunque en verdad le doy un 3.5.
Es un buen tomo recopilatorio. Te sirve para introducirte a conocer la harley quinn moderna. Tiene sus buenas dosis de humor y sirve para pasar el rato. Dentro de lo que se propone ser no decepciona y no esperes leer un kingdom come en este tomo.

Not bad, not bad at all. Aprendí mucho con este número, sobre el personaje y sus principales autores. Me gustó el trazo de Chad Hardin! Y las portadas de Conner, excelentes también. Interesante constatar los orígenes del personaje que determinaría la interpretación de Margot Robbie en 2016! Muy recomendado.

Un buen comic. La historia sirve para conocer a Harley más en profundidad. La relación de amistad con poison ivy es genial, es lo mejor de comic.

The scenario does not fall into a mess that is typical for this type of character. It is all more pleasant to read because it does not require knowledge of other Harley stories.

HQ is always silly fun. It’s like DCs Deadpool in a way. They are enjoyable but.. as gag comics the stories are never really a high level of compelling. There are never arcs where you just have to see what happens next (at least in their own comics). Which despite my love of both characters & wacky silly stuff in general, stops them from being top tier comics. But here, it is enjoyable & the artwork is great. So it’s a definitely worth a read.

So much bonkers fun. Exactly what you want, nothing too heavy. Action and humour aplenty but each issue showing growth from Harley as she inherits a place of her own but with rent etc to pay and becoming a landlord to other oddballs. Getting a job as a therapist in a nursing home, a part time job in a violent women's roller derby and trying to keep assassin's, thugs and killers off her back as they all want to claim the bounty upon her head.

Freaking brilliant.
My favourite comic in it Picky Sicky written by Amanda Conner. Harley had like a fever dream and reimagined herself in different situations and costumes, breaking the fourth wall as she chatted to her stuffed and burnt beaver. It was ridiculous and the illustrations were just stunning.
Had to watch Suicide Squad (again) because of how damn much I enjoyed this comic. Definitely need more Harley in my life.

Having only heard of Harley Quinn because of the Margot Robbie film, which I've not watched, I didn't know what to expect with this volume. But I really enjoyed the crazy madness of Harley and the storylines and artwork are excellent. I liked the Harley and Ivy stories the best. But all in all, very impressive indeed. Now onto issue #3, For The Man Who Has Everything, Superman stories.

Es una muy buena colección. Las historias están bien elegidas, como es este caso, y para los que gustan de leer cómic, y quizá lo teníamos algo olvidado, te reconcilia con ello y te va poniendo al día, en una edición cuidada y bien hecha. Un gusto volver al universo DC de vez en cuando...

This book was okay.
I didn't really find the story very engaging and for that reason it took me an age to finish it.
I'm sure there are far better Harley Quinn stories available which would have better introduced this character.

El número en que cada página está escrita por un autor de cómics distinto es UNA OBRA DE ARTE. Ya solo por eso merecería la pena, si no fuera porque el resto del libro es aburridísimo. Pero en serio, rescatad el segundo capítulo del libro, es una maravilla.

I loved this one at the moment one of my faves in this collection. love the artwork and the story. really enjoyed Harley and poison Ivy scenes in this book.
