4.5 Stars!
Sawyer was ready difficult to like. He was rude and how he viewed the women he had “affairs” with was just horrible. I get that he had been hurt in the past, but since that was never fully disclosed in the story, it didn’t really leave an impact on me. What did, was how awful he was to Amelia.
Amelia was easy to like and feel sorry for with all she’d been through and would continue to go through with her dad. I loved her journal entries!
It bugged me how Sawyer didn’t want women chasing after him after their night and Amelia didn’t want children, yet neither of them thought of using protection?!
Sawyer definitely grew on me. It was easy to see how he truly felt about Amelia after that night. I truly loved how it all turned out!

I enjoyed Sawyer and Amelia's romance. The writing was solid and the storyline engaging. I thought these two had great chemistry and I found it very easy to root for them. The sparks are simply flying everywhere from all the sharp banter these two exchange and their simmering attraction. Very fun. I am electing to post a candid review.

I’ll start by saying that I read a ton, so maybe my tolerance for idiocy is just too low as I read so many awesome books by so many great authors. At first glance this book seem to hit some of the tropes I typically enjoy. This one has some enemies to lovers, forced marriage of convenience, and secret/unexpected baby. So far so good, no?

Amelia has a friend (Charlotte) who is able to help her get a job after she gets her degree. As a celebration they go out drinking and Amelia reluctantly has a one night stand. Shocker, on her first day at the job she realizes he is Sawyer the boss. First off, she was annoyed that she woke up and he was gone and left a note telling her what time the hotel checkout was. Honestly, not really a reason to be bent out of shape. They never even asked each other‘s names or had any form of conversation before falling into bed together. So there was no expectation of anything beyond their night together. Because he is a major A hole, as soon as he sees her at work he thinks she set him up and devise a plan to make her life hell. He gives her completely ridiculous job assignments, and threatens her job. This whole part irritates the hell out of me because he is so inappropriate, that I can’t fathom anyone not going to HR to complain. Or maybe bring the work he is assigning her to her direct supervisor, who is only hearing that she is not doing the job correctly. One single glance would show that he is clearly giving her ridiculous assignments. How about the fact that her suppose it best friend has no idea that this is happening. Also her best friend is friends with not only Sawyer but his best friend, Harrison. Amelia never once tells her best friend that she hooked up with him, or that he is making her life hell. Clearly they’re not very good friends. Wouldn’t she talk to her best friend about what’s going on, or maybe try to understand why Sawyer is being so cruel to her?

My other issue… Sawyer‘s inheritance requires that he get married within 30 days of the will reading, and stay married for a year. Come on. 30 days? And it’s supposed to be a believable marriage? Who leaves a will like that? Totally ridiculous. After being a total douche to Amelia, he decides he’s going to make her an offer to be his wife. He finds her journal, and threatens her over it. That’s when I finally put it down. Frankly there’s really no way he can redeem himself in my eyes, and I’m so over weak female characters who won’t stand up for themselves. She literally has told no one how he’s treating her regardless of how inappropriate is, or thought about maybe going to HR. Quit being a doormat woman!

I get fiction is about fantasy and generally and pretty liberal with the acceptance of plot Lines that would not necessarily work in real life. But come on.

One white hot limo ride leads to a fake marriage which leads to......

Unexpected Gift is the sixth book in The Billionaire's Secret series and this is a great addition to the series. The story is about Amelia and Sawyer Reynolds. He has come back to St. Francisville from Floenia and to the headquarters of Southern Hospitality Group, which he founded and owns the majority of. As the CEO of the company Sawyer is intense and focused which means he is demanding and "Like a rabid grizzly bear. Or a possessed garden gnome." Amelia is carrying a heavy burden. He father is really sick and the bills are piling up, along with an eviction notice. But Amelia has gotten a job at Southern Hospitality Group as a financial analyst. She is friends with Charlotte, who works at the company, and so got an inside recommendation for the job. Amelia is happy about the new job and the really good salary. But it is still not enough to get her and her father out of debt and continuing to have the same roof over the heads.
Amelia is having a night out with her girl friends when she ends up hooking up with a very handsome and sexy man.
Sawyer is back home and that means a celebration with a night out on the town at the one and only nightclub in town. Sawyer is not really happy to be back in town but with the death of his grandfather and the lose of a business deal he is more like the "prince of darkness". When his friends bet whether Sawyer can get a woman into bed with him that night and the challenge is on. When he is looking around the bar he spots a woman who looked like a porcelain doll and he was going to have her.
On Monday morning is when real life smacks both Amelia and Sawyer in the face when they realize they are boss and employee. Things are about to get even more complicated when Sawyer's grandfather's will states the he has to marry within thirty days or lose his inheritance, and it is a big inheritance. But Sawyer makes Amelia an offer....be fake married for one year and he will give her a lot of money, more than enough to pay all the bills and look after her father. This is about to get interesting and intense because both of them remember the one night they had together, lets just say it was more than memorable as it was seared into their bodies.

I like this book a lot more than I expected too. Usually these multi-trope stories end up having too many balls in the air and sacrifice development in the process, but that wasn’t the case here. I was expecting a quick somewhat cheesy ready based on the title and description, but was pleasantly surprised with the decent amount of development in plot, character, and relationship.

It was nearly a 4 for me, but the glaring plot hole of the pregnancy just couldn’t escape my notice. If you have a high chance of a genetic condition and have sworn to not have kids because you know there is a high probability you’ll be passing on a terminal condition to them, then you just don’t have a ONS without discussing protection. If you’re a billionaire concerned about getting trapped by gold diggers, then you don’t have a ONS without discussing protection. The word condom does not appear. Not even a rushed, “I’m on the pill”. The subject just never comes up at all. This does not track with the personalities and intentions of either character. Both of them are intelligent and determined people, so the fact that it isn’t a discussion and they have unprotected sex in a limo is just not feasible to me. A broken condom or failed condom or antibiotics on the pill, or even a missed pill all would have made more sense than them having completely unprotected sex and not considering the consequences.

Alicia is out with friends celebrating her new job she ends up leaving the bar with a guy. They have a one night stand and think they'll never see each other again. However when she goes to work she finds out he is her new boss. Things get even more complicated when Sawyer pretends he doesn't remember her or their night together. Sawyer is stressing because he has to get married in order to claim his inheritance from his grandfather. He offers Alicia a deal marry him for a year and he'll help take care of her financial worries. Will they both find more than they thought with their agreement? Can they admit their feelings for one another before its too late?

This is an amazing story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

This is a great read! It is about Amelia Walker and Sawyer Reynolds. Amelia is having financial issues, so her friend helps her get a job that is better pay. She hopes this new job will help with all the financial stuff. What she does not expect is that her one night stand from the Friday before is her boss. Sawyer never sees a woman 2 times if he can help it. So when he finds out that 1of the new hires is the woman he was with the Friday before he does all he can to get her to quit. Then things take a turn and now they make an agreement to be married for a year.... neither expecting to fall in love with the other. R.S. Elliott has done a great job portraying the characters! Each one with there own unique story.

I love enemies to lovers stories so I jumped on this when the ARC opportunity arose. Alicia is out for drinks with a friend celebrating her upcoming new job. She needs this well-paying job desperately in order to take care of her very ill father and catch up on late rent payments. She meets someone at the bar and the two have a one-night stand at a local hotel. They never learn each other's names and he ditches her by the time she wakes up. Of course when she starts her job on Monday morning, she learns that her new boss (Sawyer) is her one-night stand. Things go from bad to worse with their non-relationship, especially when Alicia confronts Sawyer about their tryst and he plays it off as if he remembers nothing. In the meantime, Sawyer is under pressure to marry within 30 days in order to collect from his grandfather's estate and to keep his mother in the home she loves. He makes a deal with Alicia to marry him for one year and he will pay her $5 million which takes care of all her financial problems. Yes, the story has been done before, but something about the characters, especially the obnoxious Sawyer, pulled me in. I found the story pretty funny in several parts, too. I really enjoyed this one, and I would definitely read books any further books in this series.

This is a fantastic enemies to lovers romance featuring Amelia and Sawyer who meet at a bar and spend one night together. A few days later much to their surprise and dismay they find he is the CEO of the company and she is his financial analyst. Sawyer finds he must marry within thirty days to meet the clause in his grandfather’s will or lose his substantial inheritance. His solution is to payoff the medical bills of Amelia’s father in return for a fake marriage for one year. This is an enjoyable book with great characters, humor, strong emotions, and steamy chemistry.

This is the 6th book in this series and is Sawyer and Amelia’s story. These two meets in a bar and end up having a 1-night stand, and when Amelia wakes up in the morning he is not there. When Amelia starts her new job, it is to find out that her new boss is Sawyer, her 1-night stand. The sparks fly between these two, and when Sawyer is under pressure to get married within a month to claim his inheritance, he offers Amelia a lot of money to have a fake marriage for a year. The chemistry between these two is intense as they move from enemies’ / lovers. This is a well written story which is filled with emotions, witty banter, intrigue, and is an entertaining page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend.

While celebrating her new job Amelia decides to let go for once and have some fun. That decision would lead to an indecent proposal. Sawyer is living his best life until his Grandfather's will through a wrench in his plans. This was a good book. The characters were relatable and realistic. The story line, although not a new concept, was entertaining.

Amelia’s looking for a one-night stand. Sawyer is back in town and needs a release. These two cross paths and then realize he is, her boss. What happens when your boss does not remember you and even worse, wants you fired? Sawyer is in a bind and needs a wife. There is something about Amelia he is drawn to other than the fact that he is already slept with her. Amelia and Sawyer are perfect together and their chemistry is explosive. I enjoy this author’s writing and creativity.

I've been struggling with finding a good book that I could finish and I wanted a somewhat quick read. Unexpected Gift was exactly what I was looking for. It's an Enemies to Lovers, Workplace Romance with an unexpected pregnancy. Sawyer and Amelia were so good together and I really enjoyed reading their romance. I would have loved some more intimacy between them but overall it was a great story and it was well written and of course it had some steamy scenes that were so good!

Unexpected Gift is a great addition to R. S. Elliot’s writing collection. Unexpected Gift has manipulation, family drama and unexpected love connection.
Sawyer Reynolds has spent his life trying to please his grandfather. He never understood why his aunt and uncle despised his grandfather. When Sawyer returns defeated from an oversea business venture, he learns how manipulated his grandfather really was. Sawyer goes out to burn off steam once he returns stateside. His hookup for the night leads to unexpected complications the following Monday.
Amelia Walker has spent her life working two jobs to support father and herself. She has managed to work herself through college. Her job prospects have taken a good turn. Until her best friend convinces her to celebrate the new job the weekend before she starts.
Will a weekend hookup lead to a failed job? Can Sawyer persuade Amelia into another job with enough cash to make it worth her time?

Cold hearted Billionaire didn't know what hit him!...
The story has been adequately outlined in the blurb & previous reviews so I won't focus too much on that. I went from mad as a snake to swooning over the hero & just loved the heroine who was no pushover & spoke her mind even if it put her job at risk. She was the best candidate to marry to enable him to gain his inheritance & she needed the money he offered to pay her father's medical bills & overdue rent. Could this temporary arrangement become more secure or would she run for the hills as soon as she contractually could? Highly recommended. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.

It felt lik
e it was missing a lot of important things. It skipped over a lot of vital points, almost rushing thru them to finish the story.

Oddly dated

This book confused me, because despite a 2021 published date, the book says a test for Huntington's disease is only available in the UK, though it is readily available (inexpensively) at a number of common genetic companies in the US. Also, the character uses a Polaroid camera. I haven't even seen one of those in 20+ years. It may be a nostalgia thing, but combined with the outdated information on Huntington's genetic testing, it gives the book an odd sense of reading a book from the 20th century.
