「⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 Star Review...」☀︎ CHAOS RISES☀︎ Is the second full length post apocalyptic book in the (EMP Collapse) series by new to me author Christine Kersey. The follow up journey of our main characters Alex and his wife Melissa.

╰┈➤KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

They made it home relatively unscathed other than their son who sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. Now their back on home turf.

Within moments of arriving home they've already heard of a home invasion within their neighbourhood where the family was killed during the night, was it someone within their own neighbourhood or someone who snuck in?

Tensions escalate
Worries ignite

What I like about this couple is that they are a normal everyday couple, Alex doesn't have a military background and Melissa is a mum who worked full time so it's really refreshing watching them navigate and adapt to this changing world they have been thrust into. They work as a team whilst protecting their family while also trying to work within the neighbourhood as a larger group which is where the Cooperative was set in place. Most books I've read in this genre it's each to their their own, so to see a large neighbourhood and surrounds trying to come together had me favouring this series more.

They weren't preppers but they were semi prepared for the unexpected due to their neighbour Stan urging them to stock up on items each week. So over some of the others they were standing pretty good.

❝If people in her own neighborhood, people who she'd thought were at east somewhat prepared for emergencies, were running out of food, what was happening outside of their neighborhood?.❞

There was evil in the world before the EMP but now that evil is crawling out of the shadows and wanting to take the people's food within the neighborhood which has been set aside within a secluded safe location.

A traiter is residing within their neighbourhood sharing information to outsiders pinpointing the right time to come and attack and steal their food supplies whilst everyone is attending a neighborhood community meeting. And such an attack occurred downing a few of the their folks. But also in the crossfires is Melissa herself and their daughter.

But other than food what about medical supplies, extra firewood, ammunition, fuel, I know Alex and Melissa set up a greenhouse but I would've thought as part of a larger group they would've met up and set up a vegetable garden on a larger scale that each person had to work on and contribute so it fed them as a whole. Or maybe that's what Melissa is working towards once they sprout? 65451226-2019570151487824-6157464638251335680-n

I always like themes of cooperation in surviving a disaster and that was the main focus of this book 2. It also was realistic in how difficult it would be to keep that cooperation going. Had I been a neighbor I would have suggested that whilst we had access to a truck, taking a larger group to Home Depot/Lowes and other places to get more seeds and equipment for a larger effort to grow food. Medical supplies and tools can be found in less common places than hospitals etc-vets, hardware stores etc. Start on a broader plan for food and water once supplies are gone since food will take time to grow. I do like a lot of these characters and found this to be a bit better and more believable than book 1.

This is the 2nd book in this series. The first one, “ Chaos Begins “ was very good. I really enjoyed “Chaos Rising” a story about EMP (electro magnetic pulse). The EMP has caused the world to basically come to a stand still. Nothing works that is electric; cars, electricity, heating, etc. People are dying from murder for food, heat, shelter, etc. Alex and Melissa live in a neighborhood where everyone has gotten together to help their neighbors and keep each other safe. Alex has had to kill people in order to keep his wife and children safe. Everyone is cold and it’s hard to find wood to keep them warm. Some people are breaching into this secured area looking for food and shelter. It’s definitely a different kind of apocalypse. I can’t wait to read the third and final book in this series.
Christine Kersey is an exceptional story teller and I feel like I could see what the people in the story go through.
I highly recommend, “Chaos Rising”

In this, the second instalment in the series (which must be read in order as it does not stand alone), chaos rules as lawlessness prevails without any kind of law enforcement. People are becoming desperate and it hasn’t even been one week since the EMP turned the world upside down. A cooperative is formed, alliances are made, but crime continues to increase and murders are on the rise. Food hoarding and desperation are the order of the day. How long will food and water last and what will they do when they run out? Who will be the next one to die? Will the missing neighbours find their way home? Find out in this intriguing second story! Be sure to read book three as this book is not the conclusion to this exciting series…

Hard to put down

This was a great, suspenseful book. I am really enjoying the series. The story moves very quickly and the main characters are well developed. There were a couple of things that bugged me about the book. There was only one truck in the neighborhood, but I know far many more people have old cars that would still be working. Also she glosses over the need for water and medication. Although the main family in the story has water stored I would think this would be a big issue for some, maybe bigger than food. Still a great 5 star read!

A good read

The story continues with Alex, Melissa and their family, neighbours and friends, trying to survive. Food becomes a major issue, so a committee is set up, which doesn’t go as well as planned, and some choose to take matters into their own hands, with disastrous results. Will it all work out well, or will the human cost be too high, and just what else can go wrong. Here’s to book 3.

Great read!

I liked that this was post apocalyptic without a virus or other medical problem as the cause. I'm invested in the characters and what happens to them. Can't wait for the next book!

This is the second book in the EMP Collapse series. We learn more about the characters and their strengths and their goodness in wanting to help others. Even in hard times, there can be kindness and goodness in humanity.

Chaos rises EMPCollapse book 2

Wow, how quick Chaos appears, how greedy frightened people can become. How power entices someone to try and take over. Injuring or killing to get what they want. But Who, the neighbour hood pulls together, but one man, uses outsiders to bring fear.
