***4 STARS***

What a great story. I only wished it were longer.

Walker runs a group of mercenaries and Brook is his personal assistant. When Brook is kidnapped by some of Walker’s enemies Walker goes after the woman he has loved for years. Brook has loved Walker also for years but thinks that he is in love with someone else.

Very well written. Minimum spice. Could have been spicier but I loved when Walker and Brook finally get together.

4 - "I'm not letting you go..." Stars!

Another great addition to the Whiskey Run cast of characters with alpha male; Walker going all sorts of over protective, when his personal assistant and the love of his life (unbeknownst to her) is taken hostage by an old enemy.

I won't survive if something happens to her... I know I won't.

Brook has spent the last five years pining for Walker, and decides that enough is enough, after quitting her job she decides that meeting up with a guy she is matched with on a dating app is a good idea. Not-so-much when he turns out to be a fake and the guys that grab her are definitely not looking for a HEA.

Short, sexy and sweet. Walker and Brooks story is as enjoyable as all of the previous books I have read by this author, and if you are looking for an hours or two's escapism then her stories are the perfect distraction!

ARC generously provided by the author, in exchange for the above honest review.

4.5 - 5 stars

It reminded me a lot of the Professionals series by Jessica Gadziala and for that reason I'll give it a 5.
It wasn't as good as the original version but it did have the same vibes.
And that's hard to do in a novella.

And I freaking loved it. *no surprise
The only thing I disliked is that there's no info on this particular book whether it is a standalone or a series or what.
Only after having read this baby, u realise that this actually is a standalone and also a part of a series. Unfortunately, you have no idea that this is the case when u come across it on GR, because it is presented as a one giant mess.
Is it book 1, 2, 10 or WTF?

I got a feeling that I was missing something when reading this one.

A lot like I should've read some other books to get the whole picture of what was going on.

But that was the only thing that bothered me because the story is absolutely delicious.
And for that reason it will be a 5 and nothing less.
And I'm sure as hell I'll be looking for the stories of the other characters.

A word of advice, though:
get this shit together!

"Ransom" is the story of Brooklyn and Walker.

Heroine works as hero's secretary, who is a super secret agent. When she suspects he does not reciprocate her feelings, she tries to move on, gets into trouble which forces the hero to declare his intentions.

Average read with characters that took too much time to acknowledge the obvious.

I freaking loved these two. 😍 The tension between them was 🔥🔥🔥.

~Walker and Brook haven been working together for the past 5 years. She’s always had a thing for him but she doesn’t ever see that being reciprocated, especially when a woman from his past starts working with them. When she finally decides to move on, she’s kidnapped and assaulted for company secrets.~

Oh man! This was an awesome book! I loved Walker and Brook together. These two have been in love with each other from the moment they say each other but Walker did what he thought was best but that decision came to bite both of them in the rear! I loved the action, suspense, love, longing, comedy, sassiness and alphaness of these two, and awesome HEA that this book had to offer us. I can't wait for John's book! I would highly recommend this book and Ms. Hope as an amazing author.

I've been waiting for Walker and Brook's story and it did not disappoint. They've worked together for the past five years and have been in love with each other the whole time. Walked planned on making Brook his right away but after dealing with a bad mission he couldn't endanger her life that way. So, instead the caveman told all the guys on his team that she was off limits, kept her at arms length and scared off all the men in their town. Little did he know that he was ruining her self esteem in the process. When Brook begins to think there is something more going on between Walker and Sam, the only woman on their team, she decides it's time to move on, even while it's breaking her heart. Since Walker has scared off all the men in their town, Brook has to turn to a dating app and this is where the danger finds her. Walker quickly realizes the damage he has done and that he almost lost Brook so he decides she's staying with him until the bad guys are found. Once he finally tells Brook everything they were great together. I wish we could have a little more of their time as a couple but it was still a great story and addition to the Whiskey Run Series.

This was such a sweet and romantic story 😍😍😍 Walker is the boss of Ghost and Brook is his PA. Both of them fell instantly in love with each other but different circumstances made it impossible for them to have a relationship. Now after 5 years pining after her boss she finally wants start to date..... well guess who's against it 🤣🤣 Sweet, steamy, romantic and safe with a sweet HEA 😍😍😍 Can't wait for the next story in this awesome series 👍👍👍

Every part of me is saying to reach out for her. I physically want to hold on to her and dare her to try and leave me, but I don’t. I stand rigidly, panting and with eyes wide and wild. “You’re not quitting... I’m not letting you leave me.”

So good! Another Hope Ford masterpiece. If my boss had spoken to me like this maybe I wouldn’t of quit. Then again, my boss didn’t look like Walker.

Walker was amazing, I loved him. Brooklyn was actually likeable. Pick up this book and read it immediately, you won’t regret it.

I really enjoyed this book other than the epilogue was lacking it didn’t feel like an epilogue since it was only a few days later. Also didn’t like that they waited 5 years to get together.

Dual POV
No mention of their pasts
No ow/om drama
Bad guys
Slight suspense
Epilogue few days later.

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.

Walker runs a group of elite mercenaries who are specialized in helping people around the world, They go in to save/rescue someone when no one else can. His team includes his admin Brook, who he has been in love with for five years, he was ready to ask her out after he hired her when a particularly bad mission left him with enemies that made some real threats. Wanting to protect her he didn’t pursue her but did warn all the guys in town and on his team away from her. She too has been in love with Walker from the beginning, but when he shows her no interest she hides her feelings. When he adds a beautiful woman, Sam to his team Brook is convinced they are a couple and can’t handle seeing them together. He is different with Sam, (they have shared military experience), than he is with her. Thinking it would be easier for everyone she turns in her resignation, and she is going on a date with someone she met trough a dating app. She needs to get over Walker. He is shocked by the resignation and the fact that his Brook was going on a date. He refuses the resignation and can’t believe she has a date, she takes it to mean she is unattractive and can’t get a date. He meant that he had warned every man in town away from her, who would be brave enough to to go against him.
Her date turns out to be a scam, it was set up by one of Walker’s enemies who kidnap Brook to get codes to Walkers operation. Thankfully she had spoken to her sister before the date and when she didn’t check in the sister contacts Walker and they guys get right on it to find her. But the bad guys have already started beating on Brook to get the info out of her. She does not break and the guys are quick to figure out who it is and where they have Brook stashed. Someone tips off the kidnappers and they flee leaving Brook behind, Walker goes into serious overprotective mode and takes her back to his house. He is no longer hiding his feelings, which is really confuses Brook. He explains everything and they have their first time together, which is sweet and sexy. They get the bad guys and the guys all come to check on Brook, happy she is now safe Walker tells them all they are officially together. I love yous, more sexy times and epilogue setting up the next team member’s book.
Would have liked more info on who tipped off the bad guys and why they left Brook behind.

This one was ok. Didn't love it but I'm interested enough in the stories of the secondary characters that I'm going to continue reading the series. There are cute aspects and then there are scenes where the H runs roughshod over the h, because he's ready to embrace his feelings for her now.

For those curious, no virgins here. Both H and h have been celibate since they met. There's actually no discussion of previous relationships so they might have been celibate for even longer than that.

I wanted to check this one out as I read a newer series where this couple showed up. This one was short and very packed, yet it felt slam bam thank you ma'am. It didn't help that both of them were pinning for each other for 5 years and never did anything about it, until Brook was in danger, then Walker decided that there was no more waiting.

Jealousy.

It can ruin a relationship or being it out into the open. Brooklyn's makes her quit her job which leads to her being kidnapped. Her boss, Walker, doesn't intend to accept her resignation. He and his team will do anything to get her back.

Love!!

I do love this author and her overly protective, alpha males and Walker is no different!
Brook has worked for Walker for over five years and I get the feeling neither of them have been honest with the other. When she is taken, Walker and his team will stop at nothing to get her back and finally tell her how he feels.
My heart!!! What a read!

This is the start of a new series set in her Whiskey Run community. I really enjoyed this book; so much was packed into the small space of this story! Brook has been working as a personal assistant for Walker for 5 years. Walker owns the Whiskey Run distillery, lots of other stuff, and this security company (Ghost?) where they work. The company is all or mostly all ex-military and does a lot of covert missions rescuing people and other stuff like that. She has been in love with Walker the whole time, but recently he hired a woman, Samantha, who he knew from the army some years ago. She is beautiful and gets along with everyone, so Brook is super jealous and heartbroken because she thinks that something is going on between Sam and Walker. She decides to quit to get away from the daily reminders of her heartbreak. He's not having any of it, but they decide to talk the next day because she's going on a date with a guy from a dating app. He's super jealous about the date but she's been unhappy that no one in Whiskey Run asks her out - little does she know that he's warned all the men in town to keep away from her. All this time, he's in love with her but doesn't want to start anything with her because of some threats from enemies after a mission that went sideways not long after she started working there.

Brook goes to her date, but promises to call her sister Cassie as soon as she is finished with dinner. Meanwhile, it turns out that the dating app guy was a fake profile and after waiting for a while, she leaves the restaurant, and is kidnapped by Walker's enemy, who wants the security codes for Walker's information database. When her sister doesn't call, Cassie calls Walker. He gets his team together, they figure out where she is and go rescue her. He takes her home and won't let her leave his side.

A few things left me wondering. Perhaps loose ends to deal with later. I find it hard to believe that they both are in love with each other for five years without doing anything. That's beyond patient. Then the bad guys get alerted that their location was compromised, and they just take off without her? They don't take her with them or anything? Both things seem suspicious/strange; perhaps there is a traitor in the company? Or someone close to the company? Something for a future book, I hope!

Nice quick read - I recommend this book.

Walker & Brook

Five years is too long, makes me question his actual devotion to her. It was a good story though. I do like most of the whiskey run stories, and I will read the next. Sam's bugging me though?? Walker says there was only ever friendship, and she knows how he feels about Brook... So. What was up with her going out of her way to make Brook think she was spending her nights with Walker? Even as friends, why would they be spending private time together into the wee hours to the point that Sam is leaning in telling Brook she was with him so late that she had to have an espresso shot just to climb from bed, on a work night when being awake and alert is literally life and death in that job? I feel like that's a question that needed real answers. Plus she didn't show up with the rest of the team to check on Brook at walkers and congratulate them, it was just the guys. I feel like she's not trustworthy and not a good person, maybe we find out later? We definitely need to, something needs to be said about it.

He’s an idiot. Kept her at arm’s length for 5 years and has the nerve to be surprised when she felt the need to move on? How could he make her feel like that for 5 years and act so innocent about it? Then she runs her over that he wants her? And she willingly agreed??? I have problems with that. How do you build something on that?

Too Short

Was very disappointed. The writing style is very simple, like a first-time writer. There is no plot development whatsoever. Also no character development. What kind of codes did the bad guys want? It's not realistic to not recognize love during a 5-year relationship. One star.

I started late to the game with Cassie and Baker's story, but I am now here for everyone's story🥰. I am currently head over heels in love with Walker. I love a tough, possessive man 🥵. I think this universe might very quickly be becoming one of my favorites. Time to read John's story now 😁.

After reading matched to the mercenary I was counting down to this book.
And it didn't disappoint!!
I really enjoyed both Walker and Brook.
It opened up with Brook and I loved that you got an insight first to her thoughts and feelings before you get introduced to Walker and his feelings.
You can feel the tension on the pages, due to the misunderstanding and then that leads to one of the main parts of the story.
I liked that it happened near the start of the story, after you get to know each main character, then the story really blew up.
I liked that even though the kidnapping was an important part that it wasn't dragged on and that you got to see Walker become an alpha determined to save and rescue his mate.
Brook still managed to stay a strong character throughout all of this, and though she needed to be saved she wasn't your stereotypical damsel in distress.
Walker was a strong, protective character that you can tell is used to being in control but then when it comes to Brook all his rules fly out of the window.
Their relationship had a slow build, due to the kidnapping and the misunderstanding on Brook's part but I like that Walker was willing to break down her defences and be truthful with her and clear up the misunderstanding, he was a softie when it came down to it and they both only allowed each other to see the softer and sweeter side of themselves.
I also liked that after the main drama that it the storyline then stayed focused on building their relationship and all the heat between them, but that's not to say that there wasn't still stuff going on in the background.
The ending was great too, it was all wrapped up in the final chapter, having found the men they were looking for and them finally making their relationship official.
I loved the epilogue too, it was only a few weeks later, as it gave a glimpse into the next book and how they would open, but you also got to see where there relationship was going and it left it open for the future.
You didn't feel like you missed anything, it gives you everything you hope for when you read the blurb and more, this is a book I will revisit in the future!!

Hope Ford's Whiskey Run is a place I want to be. Every new addition to the Whiskey Run universe is a fun entertaining read. A chance for a quick escape.

Whiskey Run: Heroes is full of all we love from Hope Ford, quick, hot, romantic. This one also has a touch more suspense and drama than some others in her series. With the heroes an elite group who work under the radar they are destined to face some bad guys who will no doubt put those they fall for at risk.

So if you want a quick read (around an hour), like heroes, small town, curvy women, a touch of suspense and spice then you'll find a winner here.

Brook has worked for Walker for the past 5 years but lately, it is just becoming too hard to stand by and watch him every day. She's loved him since day one and knows it is time she moved on. So she accepts a date from a dating app and gives him her notice. She will never move on with him in her life every day.

Walker has fought his attraction to Brook since the day he hired her. He swept her away from distillery to make her his on P.A. even though he didn't need one. Now he would never give her back. Despite that he can't have her because of the danger it would put her in he makes sure to keep others away. Selfish? Yes. Right? No. Necessary for his sanity? Yes.

He can't believe when she hands over her two weeks notice, he convinces her to stay a month and plans to spend that time getting her to stay. Dealing with the fact she's heading out to a date though is much harder.

When the date doesn't work out as Brook hoped and she ends up in trouble, Walker and the team rush in to rescue her. Walker finding it hard to know she's in danger makes it clear to him that she should be with him and he won't be letting her go once he has her safe in his arms.

"I want her home. Now. So let’s do what we do. They, whoever they are, have one of our own. I want her back, and I want her back now, dammit.”

With Brook safe, Walker now must make it clear to her that he has no intention of letting her go ever again.

Happy Reading.

Brooklyn has been working as Walker's assisstant for five years. The problem is she fell in love with him the first time she saw him but has always treated her professionally. Her heart is breaking when she sees him spending time with the new hire, Sammi. She doesn't want to have a ringside seat to watching him fall in love and get married. Brooklyn never gets asked out by any man in town so she signs up for a dating app. Hopefully getting out and meeting other men will help her forgeted her unrequited love. She also tells Walker that she is putting in her 2 week notice.Five years is too long to wait for someone who doesn't show an interest in her.

The first time Walker saw Brooklyn it was like the sun coiming out in his dark life. She had applied for a job as the bar manager but he wanted her to his personal assistant. He had planned on making her his but when the bad guy threatened everyone Walker had feelings for, her knew he couldn't have her in his life or she would become a target. The last five years have been content one where he could see her everyday almost but then she surprises him. Brooklyn puts in her two weeks notice. He tries to talk her out of quitting but is only able to get her to promise to stay a month to train her replacement. He is also shocked whenhe hears that she is going on a date. He had threatened all the men in town to leave her alone but she went on-line to find a date. Walker is torn, he wants to protect Brooklyn from danger so he should keep his distance but he really doesn't want to lose her. Then his worst nightmare comes true and one of his enemies takes Brooklyn.

He loved her from the moment he laid eyes on her. He knew it wasn’t safe to have her so he made her his assistant. Walker is everything!!! Brooke gets kidnapped and this man shuts down a whole airport for her. I LOVED their connection so much and I loved how jealous Walker would get. The moment he realized he could lose her forever he about lost his damn mind. This novella was super short but packed full of plot and some steamy scenes. It was a fun drama filled time! I will be continuing with this series for sure.

SPOILERS⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

First of all I loved how he wanted to keep her safe even if that meant not being able to be with her the way he wanted to. Unfortunately that didn’t matter and she was still kidnapped because they wanted codes that Walker had. The moment he called her (when the men had her) and called her “baby” I fucking lost it 🥹 Once they save her and they were on their way back and she asks to call her sister he tell her to use his phone. She asks what his code was and he tells her and it’s her freaking birthday 😭😭😭 I can’t! That man has been madly in love with her for 5 YEARS!!! He made her stay with him until they caught the men. He gave her a shower and was super jealous of Logan (I think that’s his name) checking to make sure she wasn’t super hurt during her kidnapping. I loved this Novella so much! This spoiler is pretty much for myself so I never ever forget this cute novella. Sorry if it sounded like me rambling because it pretty much was 🤣

Quick easy read.
I have been wanting more about Walker since he has been a small side character in other whiskey run series.
But I did want more details about him and this wasn't it.
This is a 104-page story, so it's a really quick one.
The story was a fast-paced and quickish romance.
Brook and Walker have been in love with each other for 5 years but didn't tell each other.. then BAM in 1 night we have a kidnap/rescue, he washes her in the shower, she has a nightmare and then ofcourse it's sexy time (let's completely ignore the bruised ribs, bruised body, cut lip def should have a mild concussion and truma). The cliches with the sexy time were so cringe (hot tunnel, rutting, pummelled, "Your mine", and ofcourse unprotected with no toilet visit after for the girl) come on let's get better at this especially a female author.
The next day and we are proposing and moving in.. I get it's been 5 years, but that doesn't mean you have to skip the dating side (face palm).
And what was actually with Sam? I didn't get that at all.. what was she hinting at in the beginning?? Especially if she knew he liked brook.. so confusing.
I know. I know. It's a novella basically, but there are still ways to write it better... like I dont know, time jumps.
Ok, rant over.
Apart from some cringe and unrealistic situations, it was a good easy read if you need a palate cleanse from your fae/Dark Romance worlds 😊
