This story left me feeling breathless. Beesley didn't hold back. This is a strong second book, as it builds on the first and opens up a lot of plotlines that are going to pack a punch in book three. There were a few things in this book that made me really emotional. I can't deal with some of the pain Beesley seems to love throwing on her characters. I think one of my favourite aspects of this novel is the fact that we got so much worldbuilding! The culture shift between the humans and the draco sang was fun to explore. Really enjoyed it and can't wait for book three.

I received an ARC of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Possible spoilers for book 1 ahead.

The Draco Sang army approaches Elysium. Ferth, no longer a Draco Sang, struggles to fit in with his new allies and is forced to fight his old friends. Thirro is determined to prove his worth and agrees to hunt and kill Ferth. Meanwhile, Shale has found happiness in the human camp, but the humans won’t last long against the Draco army. Jade has made a name for herself among the Draco Sang, but when her new target is Ferth, she discovers it’s harder to kill him than she thought. Will the humans still rule Elysium when the dust settles, or will the Draco have conquered them all?

This story is so powerful and so dark, but the little bit of hope throughout the pages is enough to personally draw the reader into the lives of these characters!

The world-building in this book is so cool! This book focuses more on human culture than the last one did, and I loved getting to see all the differences between the humans and Dracos. The loving, easy-going nature of the humans provides a stark contrast to the intense, blood-thirsty, and selfish Draco Sang.

Mary Beesley is excellent at writing in such a raw, emotional way. You can’t help but root for Ferth and the human army! I loved the heart-warming familial relationships (even those not of blood) as well as some of the romances in this book. My heart also hurt for all the suffering and loss that the characters experienced. This book was an emotional roller coaster!

Overall, I enjoyed this book and recommend it to readers who like a dark, gritty story. Mary Beesley knows how to make the reader live the experience right alongside her characters and is also excellent at crafting worlds!

Content: violence, death, lots of lust, mentions of sexual assault/violence, but no actual sex

This lovely sequel to Dragon Blood takes place right where book one left off. Where many trilogies suffer a second book slump, I think Wolf Pack was actually more engaging, easier to relate to, and at least as good, if not better than Dragon Blood

Watching Ferth learn how to be human and find his new family was a stark contrast to the bloody battle scenes and Thirro's madness. The two characters carried on the series' theme of how much one's blood and upbringing is responsible for their true selves. It was interesting to see what dark roads and moral ambiguities most of the characters navigated as they had to weigh their loyalties and choices. One other thing I have to mention are the wolves - their banter is EVERYTHING!

I was floored by all the action as well, Wolf Pack carried more politicking and maneuvering and planning, which makes sense leading up to the conclusion, but the action was there too. Beesley is never afraid to make our hearts hurt either, both books have ended in deaths and cliffhangers that had me wishing the next book was ready.

I 100% recommend these books for any fantasy fans, found families, clean fiction, and more! It releases 11/2 !! Thank you endlessly to Monster Ivy Publishing for the advanced copy!

Another white knuckle page-turner from Beesley. Yet again she left me breathless and wanting more. The detail of the battles placed me forefront in the scene. Beesley's realism repeatedly ripped my heart out. Fantasy novels should not make you cry, right?

This book really needs to be read after you have read book one. It is meant to be read in chronological order to fully appreciate this world that author, Mary has imagined. Which what a world filled with intrigue, deception, heartache, and revenge...all wrapped up in a grand adventure.

Ferth has lost a part of himself. Yet, he is not about to give up. Then there is Shale, Thirro, and Jade all back. Allies have changed. Friends are enemies. Each character's voices were strong and distinct. Readers of this series will be pleased with this newest book in the series. The ending definitely gets me excited for the final book in this trilogy.

Beesley knows how to write all the feels without using extra prose. I love her crisp dialogue and larger-than-life, brutal setting. Her characters are both relatable and foreign, different, yet similar to us. I loved delving into the different points of view and felt that this is the PERFECT book 2.

No author packs a punch like Mary Beesley. I had to read the first page aloud to my husband, as I marvelled and the aggressive, yet gorgeous prose.
Ferth stole my Cal-shaped hole in my heart and patched it up with his good intentions and adorable, ferocious, awkwardness.
Every point of view is authentic, every storyline important and meaningful. A Best Book #2.

This was one of my most anticipated reads of Fall 2021 and it did not disappoint!! This story started out right where Dragon Blood ended, which made diving right back into the story a breeze.

One thing I loved about the first book was the author’s ability to kill off characters, which adds a whole new element and suspense to the fight scenes; this carries over to this book as well. This is a YA series that has a good balance of action, family drama, and a bit of mellow romance; told through multiple POV.

The only thing I would have liked to changed was a bit more time developing out a couple of the relationships. I found some of the relationships (romantic & platonic) to happen a bit too quickly for the depth in which they feel for one another. With that said though, I enjoyed where this book went and the groundwork which is laid out for the final book in the trilogy. I can’t wait to see what’s next for our characters!

Thank you @monsterivypublishing & @marybeesleywriter for gifting me this book!

Wolf Pack is book number two in the Draco Sang trilogy and I loved the world-building in this one! It’s written in multiple POVs, which made it easier to understand where the characters were coming from. It’s a story about trying to change even though your past has been shrouded with pain and mistakes. Mary Beesley is such a poetic writer and I can’t wait for the third and final book in the series.

An excellent sequel. I love how it started right where the first book stopped, even if my chest still hurts that Cal died 😭 I love Ferth figuring out the human world and that he gets to go meet his mother. That was such a heartwarming scene! And I love that he and Suza left off on good terms, though it's very understandable that Ferth is scared to love her after she was his slave.

The mounting tension as we see the Draco Sang make their way to the capital to kill the king and Ferth was great. And the confrontation did not disappoint. I was hoping Ferth and Jade wouldn't be able to kill each other, and Jade killing Thirro was just a cherry on top. I'm also glad Ferth decided at the end that he was done trying to fit in where he's clearly unhappy. Court life definitely isn't for him, lol. Oh, and I love thecommentary Lyko and Rom provide, often hilarious 😛

About the only complaint I have is Ferth mostly got dragged from one thing to the next in this book, he didn't do much on his own. But I still loved it, so it's a very minor complaint.

Can't wait to read the next one!

The book setting was really well done. I liked how it was set in this world where these two warring factions were constantly attacking one another. I liked how the characters felt human and realistic. They had their flaws their dreams, their hopes, and aspirations, and that made them really good characters. The only thing that I didn't like was the fact that their going to go lift the curse on the Draco sang. It feels like a really old trope being reused, and I thought it would have been better if the Draco sang slowly become more compassionate on their own. I mean we see it in the main character Ferth, and a few other Draco sang as well, and for a while, I really thought there was going to be a faction of Draco sang that joined the humans, besides the ones that forsake their beast blood. It kinda just felt out of place for it to go in this direction but that's just my opinion it's still a really good story.

This book leaves nothing wanting as a sequel to Dragon Blood. The story picks up seamlessly (Dragon Blood not required to love this book but I highly recommend it). I love how the author provides so many creative details that add to the story instead of drive the reader away from the plot. I never got bored or lost. Pick any emotion and you’ll find it here. So many tender moments. The action scenes were purposeful and entertaining without going long. I love the characters, even the ones I hate. The ending leaves me satisfied with the current story but anticipating book three because I can’t wait to see where it all goes. I love the clarity and fluidity of the writing and all the twists and turns.

Well since this book 2 I feel I should say WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD….. there I said it let’s move on to the review
This is a character driven fantasy series so let’s start with the characters….

Firth is dealing with so much in this book he lost his brother that he never knew he is dealing with feelings of being compared to his brother cal. His feelings of regret of who is so as and figuring out who they need to be.

Shale- yay!! we get to know shale more. We get to see her deal with not hiding who she is anymore. She gets to find her family and fight for what she believes in. I am happy to get more of a spotlight shown on her.

The wolves…. Ok I need more wolves in the next book I love the wolves and was craving more…. Cause it was my favorite parts of this book!!! Lyko is still amazing!!!

Again I loved this book and the writing was wonderful. I loved meeting the new characters and reading the growth of already established characters!
