Talented kickboxer and Masterchef turns detective.
With lives at stake – time is running out…
Ronda agrees to be the ‘eyes and ears’ for Inspector Joachin García Abascal from Europol, whilst catering for an international convention of ‘Religious, Spiritual Minds and Bodies’.
At a remote monastery in Wales, the conference is thrown into disarray when tragedy strikes and a body is washed up on the beach.
But Ronda believes this is all a cover-up for a more serious crime - a sophisticated wine fraud.
As the truth is revealed Ronda must act quickly. She must use all her military training to succeed. But is she strong enough to stop an illegal and profitable crime when there’s so much to lose?
The Manipulators is the third book in the Ronda George series of thrillers which can be read and enjoyed in any order, although it’s exciting to watch Ronda’s personal development with each book in the series and it’s preferable to read them in sequence.

In this book, the third of the trilogy, Ronda is fully ensconced as an employee of Europol and is despatched just before Christmas to cook at a conference at a monastery. Although she is an international level chef (having won Masterchef) she is also ex-army and a skilled kickboxer and she needs all these skills in this story, where she finds herself teamed up with her friend Hugo once more to discover who is carrying out a fine wine scam. In addition to a very clever and original storyline, there are some very exciting action sequences, in which Ronda doesn't always come out on top, which adds a bit of unpredictability to the plot. I also like the way that the Janet Pywell describes her characters, who are all very believable and very human, having both strengths and weaknesses. Overall this is a very readable thriller, and I sincerely hope that there will be more Ronda books in addition to this initial trilogy. I did receive an advance copy of the book, but this honest review has been voluntarily written.
The Ronda George Trilogy is fabulous with all three books being fun, entertaining, high stakes thrillers and book three, The Manipulators, is no exception. I love Ms. Pywell's heroine Ronda George, her military background comes through more in this book then the others. Ronda's tours in Afghanistan, her military training and compassion assist a monk with PTSD. Her mission at the monastery seems more dangerous then the adventures in the first two books. Ms. Pywell has masterfully woven a tale of interest, intrigue, compassion and mystery. This is more then just illegal wine trade Ronda has to find out who in the monastery is involved and everyone is suspect. And the ending is icing on the cake.
This book was as good as the first two. I like this series because the story lines are something different. In this book, Ronda is asked to cook for a conference at a monastery in Wales. I have never been to either but the descriptions are very good and you can picture both. We learn a little bit about the lives of monks. I like the recurring characters-Hugo and Inspector Joachin. Ronda and Hugo once again team up to investigate. While it may seem things are quietly moving along, be ready for plenty of action. And don't forget, Ronda is a chef. The menus sound amazing. I received an ARC and voluntarily provided this review.
