Love and Laughs #5

Love & Other Accidents

Rate this book
Something about Nick O’Malley gives my middle finger a boner — despite his sexy Irish accent, which seems to give my nips boners (but that’s beside the point).
I’m not sure why I can’t stand him. It might be the man bun. Or the arrogant way he speaks to me. Maybe it’s the way he looks at me like he’s starving, and I’m an irresistible snack cake.
Well, F that! I might be small and delicious, but I am not on the menu — for him or anyone else.

When my naughty pup causes a slight fender bender, the cocky dog trainer claims he knows just what I need, and much to my dismay, he’s right. And if you ever tell him I said that, I’ll junk punch you.

But now, the more time I spend with him, the more I start to see a different side of him. Maybe all those explosive words between us were more like fireworks.

I can’t act on this simmering attraction, no matter how tempting it may be. Aside from being off the D, the threatening text messages and unwanted “gifts” showing up remind me why staying clear of Nick is necessary. He’s not safe if he’s stays because a stupid accident from my past is still haunting me.

Except Nick doesn’t back away from threats. And shockingly enough, he has a protective side I find incredibly hot. But the longer he stays with me, the more danger he’s in.

I may have dented his bumper, but I can’t risk the damage I’ll do to his life… or his heart.

Note: This book contains a recounting of a past traumatic event which might bother sensitive readers.

Jackie brings you stories featuring her signature blend of comedy, spice, suspense, multi-faceted characters, and romantic, heartwarming moments. A voracious romance reader herself, Jackie writes stories featuring the four
Ss: Suspense, Swoons, Steam, and Sarcasm.

Her heroines are badass, and her heroes are easy on the eyes and heavy on the charm. She loves writing characters with real emotions, flaws, and mental health issues and is known to send them to therapy where they belong. Let’s normalize that shit.

When she is not writing stories about swoony heroes and the women who get to play with them, she is avoiding life with an audiobook in her ears or taking care of her army of cats and peacocks or hanging with her teenage son (who also speaks fluent sarcasm).

This book was absolutely fantastic! I have to go back and read the previous books, but this one is definitely worth the read. It’s laugh out loud funny, sarcastic, and heavy on the steam! I absolutely cannot wait to go back and interact with the Amos-holes again!

Leave it to Jackie to give us another 5 star, well deserves more than 5 star, book. The Amos family is a tight knot and hilarious family that anyone would love to be a part of. The texts in their family group chats have you crying because you are laughing so hard. Love & Other Accidents is about Millie, the feisty and dirty mouth Amos and Nick, a dog trainer/ guy Millie rear-ends his car. I could not stop laughing throughout this story. There are some points that rip your heart out but the laughs outweigh the heartaches.

Millie is one woman that you do not want to cross. She is holds nothing back, has no filter and lives a life that she wishes she didn't. She is one that seems to be enjoying life to its fullest but in fact, she is haunted by an incident from her past. She meets Nick, a hot and handsome Irish man when she hits his car. The instant that they start talking you know that Millie is going to give it to him and the one-liners just start and never stop. She has a dog that seems to be out of control and really needs to be trained. Nick offers to help out but Millie has her back up about getting any help. There is something going on with her because at family game night she has a panic attack and her family have some questions but she does not give up any information. As time goes by Millie gives into Nick helping her but the lines of dog trainer and dog owner get blurred. Will Millie open up about what haunts her? Will she just keep the sexual banter and one-liners going?

Nick is intrigued by Millie. The minute he met her she took over his thoughts. When he has the chance to help her with her dog he jumps at the chance. He cannot stop thinking of her but sees that there is something that is troubling her. Nick swore off relationships after his marriage broke down and ended in divorce. Millie infuriates him but at the same time, he is infatuated with her. Her mind, foul mouth and her comeback lines are perfect and he wants more. As time goes by he gets her to open up about what seems to be haunting her. Will he be able to help her? Can he get her to give in to his Irish ways?

Jackie always delivers a fantastic book that you are sad to see end. This series has been a joy to read and I hope there will be a few more. With such a large family, there has to be a few books in the world. Grab Love & Other Accidents, but first, grab the series and read them in order. You will get a better insight into the characters and how this crazy but loveable family works. Well done Jackie.

5 huge stars!!!!

This is book five in the series that follows the Amos siblings, and it can be read as a standalone. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV.
This book was a funny and steamy read. I love it when characters are mature and this book treats readers to a hero and a heroine in their 40’s. I love that they have a solid sense of who they are as people as well as well-developed family relationships. They have incredibly funny banter when they literally crash into each other. The attraction is undeniable, but so is the ire they feel toward each other. I love Millie and I appreciated that she is struggling with something on her own under the misguided notion of protecting her family. Nick is kind and sexy. He is 100% swoony hero material. I adore his relationship with his big Irish family. I love how he is honorable he is. I love his desire to look out for Millie. The heat between the two characters is intense and fun. I love that they laugh in the bedroom. I believe that is an important part of a relationship. Millie learns to feel safe and at peace with Nick. She is smart-mouthed and witty, and I laughed and laughed at their antics. Their HEA is hilarious and sweet while maintaining the heat that lights up their relationship.
It has been a thrill to read books by this new author who published her first book less than a year ago. I am thrilled with the world she has created and with the Amos-holes. The Amos family reminds me so much of mine. The text threads, the name calling, the teasing, the love, and the support: they made me laugh, tear up, and made my heart go gooey. It has been a pleasure to read as the author has developed her style and grown in her story telling over the course of this series. I strongly recommend this series to anyone who likes a laugh-out-loud funny, very steamy, family romance series. The characters are feisty and smart. The heroes are panty-melting. As I read, I could tell the author loves these characters and I am sure she is sad to move on to her next series. At the same time though, she has laid solid groundwork in this series for at least two other series spin-offs that I can see. I seriously cannot wait. It will be epic.
I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.

"Please, let me see this bloody list, Millie. I beg you."
"Why? Interested in helping me cross off a few items off the list?”
"Not just a few, Camila, I want to help you cross all the items of the fucking list.”
"It’s the fuck-et list, not the fuck-ing list.”

This was a great way to end the Love and Laughs series! Millie finally gets her happy ending! I loved Millie and Nick’s meet cute! Millie has a pain in the butt puppy who is in desperate need of training and when he distracts her from driving, she bumps into Nick’s car. Nick offers to give her dog free training lessons, but Millie and Nick end up bickering. After a few events happen, Millie takes Nick’s offer up. I loved every moment of them bickering with each other! They have such great banter it was definitely the highlight of the book! I also loved how caring Nick was of Millie. When he finds out that she has a stalker, he gets all protective of her and I loved every moment. I like that there was a little bit of suspense to this romance! I was really happy that at the end, Millie gets her happy ending and finds love! There’s a moment when Millie blurts out that she has a fucket list where she writes down different sex ideas she would like to check off. I loved how Nick gets inspired and wants to help her check every single one off! There are some steamy moments of this romance and I was here for it!

First of all, I realize this story involves a psychological issue. However, that's not an excuse for the resulting behavior.
I tried three times to finish this book. I'm a grown woman that owned her own printing business which is a male-dominated business. I walked away from a 25-year marriage before I lost my dignity and sense of independence. I don't take crap from people and shoot straight from the hip. I cuss like a sailor but I love to laugh and make others laugh. In all of this, I have never felt the need to talk to people like they are poo on my shoe. Also, I'm quite tall, so I don't act like a dwarf honey badger with a Napoleon complex (Millie). I also have never had a man that enjoyed being a whipping post (Nick) for anyone, much less a diminutive cobra with the maturity of a 10 year old. The most positive part of this story was it talks about dogs.
There is a line in this book, "I'm starting to get sick of this bitch." Well, that happened within the first or second chapter and my opinion never changed. I wouldn't wish this sarcastic, trash-mouthed, woman-child on my worst enemy.
To be fair, I was never able to finish the book. She probably becomes likable somewhere along the line, but I just wasn't willing to subject myself to that wait. I have hundreds of other books to read.

Honest Arc Review:

Ugh! What a fricking book hangover! Possibly the best book in the Love and Laugh series, Jackie Walked really out does herself with sassy, spunky, stubborn Millie Amos. And OMG the swoon factor when it comes to Nick O'Malley is strong.

After a series of unfortunate mishaps, Millie really needs to get her energetic puppy, Jekyll, some training. The last man she'd ever turn to for help though is the exact person she needs. After a classic fender bender meet-cute, Nick wants nothing to do with the fiery woman who blamed him for her hitting his car, but he also can't get her out of his head.

This book packed a delicious hate-love dynamic with lots of heated banter and and even more heated sexy times! The whole Amos-hole clan comes out to play, and as always, there's not a family text thread I'd want to be part of more! I especially enjoyed the beautiful in-law sibling relationship between Archer (Love and Other Trouble) and Millie.

From top to bottom, this was a 5 star read for me! Now if only drinking a disgusting concoction of protein and electrolytes would cure my book hangover like it's been curing college frat boy hangovers for decades.

I am so happy I started reading this early on a Sunday and was able to put off what needed to be done so I could read this entire book in one day!

Jackie makes me laugh out loud, swoon, awe out loud, and then can make me blush five minutes later! She is a master with words and emotions!

At times I wanted to jump through my screen and slap Millie and her attitude, so loved that Nick didn’t take her shit and out her in her place. Just as I was starting to think I truly despised her as a character and was ready to write her off, Jackie brought her story full circle and I ended up having the worlds biggest book character crush on her.

I love that Jackie tied in a bit of suspense with this one. I am so excited to see what she does next.

P.s. MY FAVORITE EPILOGUE EVER!

Love And Other Accidents by Jackie Walker - what another fabulous addition to what or such a fun series following the Amos brothers . Since reading the very first book in the series I have been completely hooked . I have loved every single book and couple in this series as they are all so unique and so very different . But Millie and Nick might just be my favorite couple so far . The tension between these two is just off the charts hot . There is so much humor in this book yet some very emotional moments as well . It’s fun it’s Sexy and I found it so easy to get lost on their journey together. I devoured this amazing story in one sitting and lost so much sleep while doing it ! But it was so worth it

This is the fifth book in this impressive series and is Nick and Millie’s hilarious journey. Nick is a dog trainer with a sexy Irish accent, and Millie is sassy and stubborn. When these two are involved in a fender bender because of Millie’s puppy, this little firecracker blames Nick, even though she ran into his bumper. The sparks fly between these two, and they may have a love / hate relationship going on, but the chemistry is combustible and undeniable, and they compliment each other perfectly. This is a beautifully written story which is filled with humor, witty banter, emotions, family, suspense, and love which leads to a steamy and entertaining addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This is a seriously high energy story with loads of snark and endless internal running commentary.

‘Is he trying to smolder at me? And am I liking it?’

The tension between Millie and Nick is off the charts and absolutely explosive. They’re wild and passionate and even tender.

While Nick and Millie have chemistry for days, the evolution of their relationship is a marathon not a sprint. They each bring a substantial amount of baggage to the table that together, they’re able to overcome.

*This story contains some material that may be sensitive to some readers.

I can’t ever get over this family! They are amazing! Millie has been such an amazing character throughout this series, so I’m happy to see her get her HEA! And be still my heart! A swoon-worthy Irish lad on top of it all?! Yes, please! I loved the love-hate relationship these two had that built to such combustible levels. I also liked that the author had Millie’s problem weaved throughout the entire book and not just at one point, like you typically see in romance novels. Overall, another great book in a great series! Sad to see this one end but can’t wait to see what else this author gives us!!!

The last Amos finds her HEA

A last trip to the Amos-hole universe. This family cracks me up. They are just the right amount of sarcasm and silliness with a dash of gif-loving text messages that you can’t help but laugh at and with them. Millie literally and figuratively bumps into her HEA, Nick. They are definitely enemies at the beginning and soon they start becoming friends to lovers. There is a mystery surrounding Millie that gets unraveled as the story progresses. I will definitely miss the Amos family after this. If you enjoyed the rest of the Love and Laughs series you will definitely enjoy this story as well. Maybe the rest of the O’Malleys can get a story also????

This is the final book of the tight knit Amos family with the remaining sister finding her happily ever after. Millie is the petite, cursing, loud mouth sister who meets her match in man bun wearing, swoonworthy, dog trainer Nick. Their enemies to lovers story is a roller coaster ride of emotions. Along the way there are bodyguards, hijynx and steamy scenes. There are also incredibly funny texting threads. This book had me laughing, crying, scared and swooning. Such a fun story!

I think it should come with a trigger warning though as it contains some flashbacks of abuse and a stalker.

This was a real good book. I was hooked right from the beginning. Nick and Millie's banter made this book for me. This book had me laughing a lot. The humor was one of the best things about this book. There is also plenty of heart in this one. There are some serious moments that made me gasp. Millie has this tough personality, but man she's dealing with a lot that no one knows about. She does a lot of growing and healing in this book. I loved Nick for her. He has exactly what she needs in a partner. I can't believe all the Amos siblings are matched up. I can't recommend this series enough. It has the perfect combination of heat, heart, and humor!

The last installment in this series is a little more serious than the other four because the plot involves a stalker and the mental damage that has been done to the victim. The novel tells the story of the handsome, Irishman Nick and the fiery redhead, Millie. They first meet when Millie rear-ends Nick at a traffic light because her unruly pup jumps from the backseat and spills her coffee. Nick rubs her the wrong way because of his kindness when he offers his help in training her dog. They eventually do meet again when the dog training is undertaken. They still are like gasoline and water, but there is an attraction.

I hate to see the end of this family .The Amos clan has brought me many a chuckle over the course of this series. This is in my opinion the best so far.Milie and Nick's story is one of sparks, steam, spice, trust, surmounting mountain high walls that both are carrying due to some past traumatic events. Some parts were tough to read, because as a man I have zero tolerance for the actions of some of my gender. I was glad Millie hung in there and conquered her self doubts and opened herself up for her HEA ,and gotta little payback in the end also.

An accident brought these two together and several coincidences kept them bumping into each other. Millie had some bad luck, but it changed when she rear-ended Nick. She was a bit snippy, but she was on a roller coaster of emotions, from her dealings with Jekyll, buying her new home, and all her siblings and family. Nick was nice and quite drawn to her sass. They were an interesting couple, though I felt the story dragged a bit. Overall, it was a good story.

I received a copy of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.

Honestly I really did not like Millie at all. She was so annoying and there is no way that she spoke or acted like a 43 year old woman. She acted more a like 21 year old spoiled brat. She repeatedly kept things from others, spoke like a child, and criticized every person in her life while simultaneously thinking she was better than them and also not worthy of love? So confusing and frustrating. This book was about 200 or so pages too long. It could have been a novella and been much more engaging.
I probably should have DNF’d.

Absolute my favorite of the Amos-holes

Loved this one so much. Millie’s way of walking through life with a take no crap attitude was perfect and explain so much. Loved Nick and the way he didn’t know what to do with her for so long. These two had me laughing and swooning. The secret broke my heart but I won’t give it away and was happy with how the author handled it. I love books that make me laugh and bring real life front and center giving us an HEA as well. Love this series.

Nick and Millie's story was a good read. Funny, spicy and a lot of drama. Millie's been in all of the book and has always been a strong female character. In this she tends to open up more, which is good. Nick is a good match for her. I loved how they got each other and he figured her out quickly. The families mesh well and there are at least 4 more stories I can see from this and one starts already as an offshoot series. I love the low angst in all of these books. There are issues dealt with seriously and with humor. I highly recommend the whole series of books.

Jackie does not disappoint! She mixes comedy, romance, and real life situations so perfectly in all of her books. This one adds a bit of suspense too.

Nick and Millie are perfect together, and all of the Amos-holes are crazy fun! This is the 5th book in the Love and Laughs series. Even though they are stand-alones, I highly recommend starting in the beginning. I would say more, but I don’t want to spoil anything.

Love and Patience

I really enjoyed this read. Nick and Millie were perfect for each other. Nick showed such patience, understanding and love for Millie right from the start. And their sexual chemistry was amazing. The ending was perfect, how it all came together. Nick and Millie deserved peace. And most of all it was well written and all of the characters had personality. I look forward to more from Jackie Walker

OMG, I loved this soooo much. I knew from the first chapter I was gonna be with my people. It has laugh out loud moments, it has emotions, it has trauma and PTSD, it has patience and romance and hot AF sex. All. The. Things. And I loved it. Can't wait to read the new series. And I'm sure this will be one I come back to.

So many good things

This story is laugh out loud funny, suspenseful and scary, and tender and sweet. Quite the accomplishment. The characters are so lovable, even when they aren't! I love how the author lets the reader in on things before they happen to the characters...so much fun! There are also lessons for life along the way which are snuck in without being preachy. There is a delightful surprise epilogue, too. Now I have to go back and read books 1-4!

Jackie, you are my kind of woman.

I loved how brash, funny, and dirty minded Millie was. She definitely has the mouth of a sailor. And who better to manage her than Nick, a hot Irish dog trainer! I loved the totally accurate dog training even if I'm more of a balanced trainer girlie, but I agree that positive reinforcement goes a long way! I havent read the rest of the series, but I will check them out next!

If you're looking for a humorous story with over-the-top sarcasm, look no further. There are many laughs to be had throughout this story, even though one of the storylines is more serious. Nick has to call on all his patience as he navigates situations with Millie, even as the chemistry between the two of them heats up. Loved the group text chains and their family dynamics.

Great conclusion!

I was happy to get a glimpse into Millie's life as she was the most closed off Amos sibling. This book will take you on a journey through her fear, finding something to fight for & filled with love (and lots of steam!) This book &the entire series are worth the read

Nick and Millie

Nick, the East going, handsome, Irish, dog trainer doesn’t know what hit him when he’s rear ended by tiny, angry and beautiful Millie. Snarky, sexy and crazy dialogue between the main characters. Throw in issues with a nasty stalker, nutty family members and plenty of steam leading to a wonderful HEA

Wow

This book is slightly different than the other 4 in the series but wow. The twists and turns kept me reading and wanting to know more without a doubt. This family is so close knit and you feel like you are apart of the Amos holes. I can't wait to read the next series that is officially calling my name. Way too go Jackie and congratulations on finishing your first series.
