This is Abraham Lehman and Sarah Fisher's story.
Abraham Lehman hummed a hymn as he rode his buggy down the dirt lane, stopping in front his small, humble home— a sturdy little maroon house that he would have filled with children years ago, if he had ever gotten married.
He’d always dreamed of falling in love with the right woman and raising a large family.
Maybe it’s time to accept that it’s not your plan for me, Lord,   he whispered, sorrow weighing down his heart. I’m not getting any younger. What woman would want to marry me at my age?
The stairs creaked loudly as forty-year-old Sarah Fisher descended the steps of her new home.
Well, it was new to her, but in reality, it seemed as though it was two hundred years old. In her right hand swung a bucket that she found in the attic upstairs, and in the other hand, she held a mop. She looked up at the ceiling, biting her lip.
She looked up at the ceiling, biting her lip. Drips fell from the ceiling onto the floor, forming a puddle that seeped underneath her woodstove. Speaking of cooking, she made a mental note to go shopping for groceries and other supplies sometime soon.
In this emotional family saga, experience hope and inspiration through this beloved Bible story retold.
I highly recommend reading.

Abraham and Sarah's Amish Baby, by Ashley Emma, is the first book in The Amish Bible Story Series. This is a modern day twist on the Bible story of Sarah and Abraham. This couple marry later in life and are unable to have a baby. When one just shows up at their door they keep the child and raise him as their own.
This is a nicely written, quick to read story. I enjoyed reading this story and reading how the couple dealt with the loss of their parents and constant let down of miscarriages and failed adoptions. This story does point out how far someone would go to get what they so desperately want. When the baby is left on their doorstep they did not follow through on legalities, but instead lied to people about the baby. I felt sorry for Sarah and the pain she must have felt with the loss of their parents and and having to move to get away from the memories.
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this story from the author. This is my honest review.

This story begins with Sarah moving to a new Amish community after losing her parents. She meets a neighbor named Abraham, who becomes interested in Sarah. There are tribulations aplenty with Sarah and Abraham becoming a couple, then courting, and then married. They have difficulty starting a family and that brings them sadness, but they trust God and he answers them in an unexpected way. The story is longer than most books I read on my Kindle, but it held my interest throughout. I found this book to be a very heart-warming story and full of life’s struggles. When I reached the end of the book, I felt God’s love for Sarah and Abraham and easily related that love to my own life. I hope you enjoy Sarah and Abraham’s story as much as I did.

A gift from God

Abraham was getting older, still waiting for God to give him a woman with whom to share his life. His mother was gone and his father wasn't able to do the work on the farm that he loved, so Abraham had stepped into his shoes. When a new woman moves into the neighborhood, she doesn't seem to want to leave her house. No-one knows she's just lost her parents within a short time and has moved to try and escape the painful memories of home and family.
Neither of them knows that God has special plans to give them the desires of their hearts. A touching, well written story.

Amish baby story

This story told in three parts has points that drag, but overall it is worth the read. Abraham and Sarah meet later in life when she moves close to him. She is grieving, but finds hope and love in his kindness even though Catherine tries to come between them at every point. Once married, Sarah has several miscarriages that works against her mindset and they decide to move. Years later a baby boy is left on their threshold and they name him Isaac. Isaac grows to be a strong young man, but they never tell him of his beginning. Just when he becomes engaged, life takes a traumatic turn.

The premise of the book is good. The reader most understand that it will be heavily accented with Christian belief & references. I was fine with that. My rating is due to what I will call awkward editing. -Information of Amish culture was frequently introduced in a clumsy fashion. -Although I am not familiar with Amish ways, I highly doubt they would use idioms i.e. “cool down” (in terms of emotion), “come around” (in terms of thoughts/decisions). -There was too much repetition of character’s thoughts. -To name the characters “Abraham, Sarah, & Isaac” in a story about fertility issues was too awkward when the names’ relationships weren’t referenced from the Bible.

Adoption

Sarah and Abraham married late in life. They hoped for a baby but remained childless until someone left one in a basket on their doorstep. They raised Isaac as their own never revealing he was not their natural child. But tragedy struck and he could only be saved by a bone marrow transplant from a living relative. This is a very emotional story. A knowledge of Bible stories would be helpful. I do recommend this book. Ashley Emma is a great author who knows how to draw the reader into the story.

Always Wanting

From the first moment Abraham and Sarah saw one another they seemed to have a spark and knew that they were going to be in love. Although they were both older, they wanted to have children. After several tries they decided to adopt, but even that didn't work for them. It got to the point that Sarah was always wanting what it seemed she couldn't have. I loved this story!

I had a lot of thoughts.

I am familiar with the story of Abraham, Sarah, and Isaac in the Bible. I tracked with it for the most part. Also, being an adoptive parent, I know what that maternal component is like to be met. The story itself had me feeling some type of way. The gossip about the couple, people's views on how families are created, etc is still the way some still think regarding building families. This was a fairy tale ending.

Sarah has moved from her home community to another community. She wants a family with
lots of children.

She meets Abraham and they become friends, and eventually they marry.

Sarah's dream is to have a home full of children, but after 2 miscarriages, she becomes
distraught. Abraham tells her to have faith that through a team God promised a son and
they would call him Isaac.

This is their story.

Really loved this book. It was not spot on per Biblical but it did relate 100%. I liked the Sarah Abraham dynamic. Really did not like how Abraham’s friend Eva expected him and her daughter to be wed. She was so annoying to Abraham and I can’t believe being Amish she would be so harsh on Sarah. In the end Sarah got what she wanted a full family.

Blessings Undeserving

I really loved this story! I know my title of this review is harsh, but I was judging this story if I had been Sarah. Sarah's faith in God waned throughout the story. Thankfully, she didn't give up on God. In the end, Sarah realized that God certainly did answer her prayers, more than she ever imagined!

I had the opportunity to review Abraham and Sarah's Amish Baby for the author.

A beautiful, moving love story of an older Amish couple who become friends, fall in love, find healing for their hearts and get an unexpected miracle.

Emotional, all the Way! Abraham and Sarah almost gave up on finding their mates, until they did! Even then, there were obstacles to overcome...
Good story with prayer and faith to strengthen it! Some repeating of issues. Liked story. 3 1/2 stars.

Retelling of Bible story about Abraham and Sarah, a childless Amish couple who desparately wanted children. They miraculously find a baby and raises him, however just as with the Bible story, there is a life and death situation. This was a testing of their faith and devotion.

The baby

I enjoyed reading this book. I love Amish stories. It was about how Sarah couldn't have children. She tried but didn't work out. But God gave her a son which she loved. I recommend this book.

Finding peace and love

It took a lot of convincing by Abraham to get Sarah to trust him and be ablbe to fall in love. Over time they went through a lot of issues but as time passed. They survived alot of problems and got to enjoy their grandchildren.
