Join your favourite Yorkshire detective D.I. Daniel Ward on his next gripping murder case. When a woman is found brutally murdered just outside the quiet town of Bingley, shock ripples through the community. DI Daniel Ward's hoping for swift justice, but the forensics deliver a twist he wasn’t expecting. In the middle of the autumn burglary season, with the Varga case still running rings around them all and his personal life in tatters, an unsolved murder is the last thing Ward needs the DCI breathing down his neck on. Pulled in all directions, the HMET team stretches far too thin—and who is going to slip between the cracks? Another woman vanishes—but by the time Ward and his team connect the two cases, it’s a race against time to stop a power-hungry killer hell bent on revenge from striking again. How can DI Ward find a murderer who hides in plain view behind an ordinary face? The D.I. Daniel Ward crime thrillers are a gripping, character-driven series perfect for fans of LJ Ross, Rachel McLean, and Elly Griffiths. Essential reading for anyone wondering what dark secrets hide amongst Yorkshire's picturesque rolling moors...
Meg has done it again a thriller set in Bingley, where a young man looks set to become a serial killer unless Daniel and his team can stop him first. The back story of Varga continues too intrigue and will be eventually be stopped. I read this book in three sitting and now starting on book 3 of this excellent series
The Revenge We Seek by Meg Jolly is book 2 in the DI Daniel Ward series and is released on 19 May. A tense read as a killer is hunted. Amelia rejects Harry’s attempts to ask her on a date. This doesn’t go down well with Harry and he spirals out of control. Bogdan Varga is still hanging around and being investigated for people smuggling, but he continues to evade the law. Daniel has a good team around him and I really like the characters, although DC Pattison causes Daniel a bit of grief. You can see them developing through each book. I really enjoyed this and look forward to the next book.
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This is the second in the DI Daniel Ward series, and for me it was a slow read. It was well written, original ish concept. And they got their guy after some twist and turns. In spite of all of that, I really had a hard time sticking with the book, but I stuck it out, and the ending was good for a number of reasons. One that really lifted my heart. But if you want to know what I mean by that, you'll have to get the book and read it for yourself!
I was totally gripped by this story from the first chapter. I read it in one sitting. I loved having the dual points of view of both the murderer and the Detective searching for him. Well written with great descriptions of the local area. Highly recommended.
Liked this more than first book. I like the way the characters are developing and how the team is gelling under DI Ward. Interesting glimpses into his personal circumstances and how they affect the way he works…a hint at the end that some developments might be coming on the personal front. See what book 3 has in store…
Love Daniel Ward and his team. It’s amazing how quickly you get to know them and feel part of the investigation. Being a Yorkshire lass myself I love the fact it’s set in n Yorkshire. Love nothing better than a good Yorkshire crime series.
Thanks Meg, can’t wait to get started on the next book now!
A lonely individual gets the taste for murder after being spurned by someone he fancied. The team unravel the clues, helped by the concerns of the perpetrator work mates and an eagle eyed taxi driver. Ward gets Olly and another relationship is in the offing.
This story in some parts continues from the first book, the characters are becoming more real now. The interlocking story was well worth the read. I look forward to the next book in the series
Goodness this was an intense and fast moving episode in this great series .d f had me in edge of my seat .The series needs to be read in order because there are 1 or 2 back stories running through the main investigation xxxx can't wait for next instalment ...
A great read, follows on from the first book well, really gripping a real page turner. Luv the way the Vanga story runs along side the main storyline about and Harry and the murders he does. Great overall ready to start book 3 xx
Enjoying this series. Loving how DI Ward and his team are developing. The plots are great and I’ve no double they’ll catch Vagrant in the end. Now for book 3.
