This Halloween, witch Jayce Bonheim is giving a lecture at PaganCon on coffee magic to drum up business for her coffee shop. The program spelled her name wrong, but the lecture itself went well. However, she was having odd reactions to the intense heat and uneasy feelings putting her on edge. As the people left the lecture, one woman held back, biting her lip, clenching her hands, acting nervous. The distressed druid, Nancy Mullen, wanted to ask for help regarding the Fey because she knew Jayce had defeated them. She told Jayce that Robert Darian, another druid, was making her do awful things and she can’t escape. He made a pact with the Far Darocha, a dark and evil druid, the right-hand man of the evil Fairy Queen.
Jayce followed Darian to a tent he entered, and she hid outside to watch. She extended her senses and observed until suddenly everything was quiet. This time she felt nothing at all, no magic, no human presence. How did she miss his leaving the tent? She opened the tent flap and Robert Darian lay spread-eagled beside a sleeping bag on the tent floor, a dagger in his chest! Can Jayce find the killer and stop the evil Fey?
This is an adventurous story line that will easily hold the reader’s attention. It's well-written with descriptive scenes and is an enjoyable quick read. Grab your copy and experience the excitement of with magic, mystery, and murder.
It's saying something for the author's talent that I still thought this was good even though I've come to realize this novella is for fans of the series who've already read some/most of the books. It is a complete story but there is some expectation that you know what happened previously.
My only complaint is that the author intentionally allowed the sleuth and the reader to know who the bad guy was early on. So the plot was mainly about figuring out how to catch them and some other stuff related to events in a previous book.
I will say that it made me want to check out the Witches of Doyle and see what I've been missing because the writing style is engaging and the witch sisters seemed like fun characters. I received a copy through Booksprout and chose to review.
A Halloween mystery to die for. Well, actually someone already did that and our heroine is trying to avoid following suit. Details, details.
This is a short paranormal mystery with witch lead. The story is well written, easy to read and just plain fun. It features a well developed setting and wonderful characters that bring the story to life. I really enjoyed the holiday feel to this one and the mystery was a good one featuring plenty of twists and turns. Overall, it was a wonderful story and I look forward to exploring more from this author.

Jayce goes to a Pagan Fest to promote her coffee shop and give a lecture on coffee magic. Afterwards, a druid approaches, asking for help. Someone she is tailing is murdered, but can not figure out how it was done as she did not see anyone leave the area. The characters are fun and quirky, the locale is terrific and the mystery is well developed. The storyline has plenty of suspects, surprises, treachery and false clues to keep you glued to the pages. Loved the ending and can not wait to read more of this group.

Jayce goes to PaganCon to present on coffee magic and drum up business for the cafe. There, she is contacted by a woman who wants help against an evil magician. Of course, all is not what it seems and once again she's involved in murder. At least the sheriff believes her this time! This is a good who donit with magical overtones, Druidry, and some good twists. It's a short story at only 44 pages, so good for a nice break in the day.
I will start by saying Jayce Bonheim is my favorite Doyle witch. This is a fast paced novelette that is filled with magic, mayhem and most definitely murder and Jayce is at the center of it. Witches, Druids and spells how much more perfect could a book be!

Sometimes I feel like stories such as this one should be either an author's bonus content at the end of a relevant book from the same series, or a newsletter freebie for their readers. Enjoyable novella nonetheless! Love Weiss's work and can't wait to read more!
