Prime Mating Agency #2

I Married a Naga

Rate this book
She got more than she bargained for.

When Serena comes to Trangor to participate in the First Hunt, the last thing she expects is to find herself forced to marry an Ordosian… or be executed. She knows nothing of his people, nothing of him, except that he’s got fangs, scales, and a crazy long tail. Serena only has to play the part of being a wife for six months, and then she’ll be free to leave. But Szaro seems to have other plans. He’s big, intimidating, and definitely not human. Yet, how can she remain indifferent when he does everything to please her?

From the moment he lays eyes on Serena, Szaro is fascinated by the delicate human female. Deceptively fragile in appearance, she’s a fearless and skilled hunter. The lingering taste of her scent on his tongue is intoxicating. Claiming her to save her life is no hardship for him. Overcoming their differences and convincing her to stay willingly is a challenge he relishes. But will that prove more than either of them can handle?

I would like to thank those awesome friends of mine on Goodreads who informed me that Regine Abel's I Married a Lizardman was part of a series. And honestly, it takes a huge commitment for me to read a story that goes past one or, at most, two books, so I originally wasn't interested in pursing it further. But I thought the first book was very good, and even for someone who isn't into erotica and/or fantasy and/or science fiction much, I enjoyed it a great deal. It isn't often when you find an author who can get a firm grasp on several different genres, but Regine Abel has done just that here. She masterfully merges all three genres into one fantastic story that is interesting, written with extremely fine skills, and makes you want to see more. Now this wasn't a terrible stretch from the plot of Lizardman. The basic concepts were comparable and the method that each story unfolded was, too. But these stories weren't written to be deep thinkers, so that methodology works just fine. The one line here that will be hard to forget was when Serena stated "I'd really like to see what you guys are packing down there" to her Obsidian husband. And honestly, the sex scenes are done extremely well and are very tactful, and surprisingly didn't start until the 2/3 point of the book. So there was a ton of room that Abel utilized to get the characters developed, the plot established, and this fantastical new world described in such vivid detail, as she gradually worked into the intimacy. It wasn't just a matter of 'Hey, a snake man. Let me straddle his face.' Serena and Szaro start as strangers, who come from different worlds, and are brought together under rather awkward circumstances. But they are accepting of one another and adapt, eventually coming around to genuinely loving each other. Some may laugh when they see the cover of this book, but it goes along with the old adage of not judging a book by its cover. This was a great experience and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Disclaimer: this is NOT a bad story. It may be weird AF, but it ain't bad.

Now, I've read some stuff, like kangaroo penis. Yes that's a whole other story. And at that time, I said to myself "that is the weirdest thing I've ever laid my eyeballs on." but to that Ms. Abel said

"sweet, sweet summer child...."
description
and gave me I Married a Naga.

When our story begins, Serena's a badass hunter, and she's on planet Tarragon (it's not called that, but it is in my head). She's competing in the first ever Hunt on this planet and she's out in the woods, doing badass things, when she sees the native Ordosians, who are on their protected lands and making sure that the newcomers aren't pulling some sketchy shite. She sees Szaro, and girl, she's admiring him and his flex.

description
Now, of course there's danger, and Serena, being said badass, goes to save the day. But things get messy, and to save Serena's butt from imminent death, Szaro's all like yeah, I'll marry her, even if she does have legs and no scales. Yeah, baby. And some truly exceptionally weird romance happens.

Look, I am here for the weird shite, ok? I accept this about myself. I LOVE big ole aliens, blue, purple, every color of the rainbow. I'm completely cool with lizards, bird, dragons, bugs, and the occasional cat. I thought since, hey I can dig a good ole beetle kinda male hero, I can get down with the snakes, right?

description

Turns out, not really, nope. I tried, and it's not because I don't like the story. Nay, nay, my friends. The story, as weird as it is, works.

Serena and Szaro's romance actually builds in a realistic fashion, they get to know each other, and find out how much they have in common and are genuinely attracted to each other. The worldbuilding is Ms. Abel's forte, and she really thinks through their differences, existential and simply biological. So it's a legit romance.

description

It's because I, personally, can't get past the fact that he's basically a snake with a penis, and I just cannot.

description

Perhaps, if you're a better person than I, you can look past the physical, like Serena, and see the beauty that's within. You'll find a good story, it's just one that will go down in my personal weird ass hall of fame.

“ You are exactly where you are meant to be.”

Serena is a hunter. She has traveled to another planet for a hunting competition in order to help with population control of a violent species.
This planet was the Australia of the galaxy. They had the weirdest, most bizarre fauna ever seen, and most of it wanted to kill you just for fun.
I am a huge fan of strong women warriors, and a fmc who can hold her own without being a pushover, so I was excited to dive into this story!

During the hunt, Serena makes a calculated error in order to save the life of two innocents. This decision changes the course of her own life.

Snake-like hero
Marriage of convenience
No virgins
Cultural differences
Excellent world building
Amazing communication
Beautifully written intimacy
HEA

As with the first book, this author writes her heroes with such depth of internal strength and character. Why don’t more authors write heroes like this?
“I am taking you as my mate, Serena Bello. Ordosians bind for life. I have no control over what you will do, only over my own actions. Therefore, I will endeavor to be the best possible mate for you for as long as I draw breath, or until such time as you decide I’m not worthy.”
I wish there had been more of her being a warrior throughout the story. She was a gymnast (ribbon dancing), but I really wanted to see her being a strong hunter like she was in the beginning of the story.

Overall, another very enjoyable read from this talented author. I liked the first book slightly better, possibly because of the gardening and farming aspect. 4.5 stars! (When will GR get half stars?!!!)

I’d love to see contemporary stories have characters with these qualities.

Awesome Naga World!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌎
Character development: ☹️☺️😳😎
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Solo Narration

The heroine: Serena - she is a hunter, and goes to a planet called Trangor to participate in the first hunt which was held by the Federation and had some huge prizes. Trangor was previously known as a primitive planet and only one species dominated the food chain , called Ordosian, they were snake-like creatures, and the federation got their approval to hold the hunt on the planet. The hunters got bonuses for clean kills and not hitting major organs which can be used for medical research. They were hunting Flayers, which wreaked havoc on other species on the planet.

The Hero: Szaro - he is the leader of the Ordosian people and he sees the female hunter taking down some of the huge beasts and is impressed by her. The females of his species would never go out hunting dangerous predators. He even goes so far as to leave a few of the Flayers they killed near their borders for her to find.

The Story: When Serena finds a bunch of recent clean kills of full grown Flayers, which are unclaimed, she takes them as her own, which is allowed in the hunt. She soon sees some Ordosian’s and she knows that it has been them that have left the kills for her. She is amazed when she sees them hunt with basically their bare hands and their tails.

When Serena finds that another hunter has been luring the beasts close to the Ordosian border and threatening the people. She goes over the border to help the people. She knows trespassing over the border was illegal and trespassers could be executed by the Ordosian. In order to deter the other participants from violating the primordial rule of trespassing, they have to punish Serena in some way. Though since she saved some of their tribe, they decide that she must become Ordosian so that it would circumvent the law.

I really liked I Married a Lizardman, so I decided to give this one a try as well. The story was well written and just as interesting as the first book, though the story was completely different. Like the Lizardman book, the world building was fabulous. This world was completely different than in the first book which is something else I really liked. It looks like each of the books in this series can be read as a complete stand-alone and the books can probably be read in any order if these first two books are anything to go by.

I liked the way all the differences between the Humans and the Ordosian’s were explained and how Szaro was determined to keep her so he made numerous changes to his home in order to accommodate a Human female. Serena, at first planned to divorce Szaro after the requisite six months, so was loathe for him to make too many permanent changes. Their romance was different but quite nice.

The book is told in dual points of view via solo narration. It was narrated by Daryl Mayfield who has a deep voice which I like and he does a pretty good female voice as well. They sound like two totally different people. He does a great job and I enjoyed listening to this audiobook.

This was fantastic!!

I love this series. I love how so down to Earth, reasonable, and open minded the characters have been.

Szaro a sexy half snake Ordosian was just the best mix of honorable ferocious hunter and thoughtful sweet mate. Watching him, as a guardian of his planet, taking care of the little helpless animals that needed protection melted my freaking heart!

Serena was also a honorable hunter whose choice to do the right thing even though it caused her to break one of the Ordosian's rules, lead to her having to marry Szaro. She fit in so well with these proud hunters that were also conservationists. I loved how real Serena was and stood up for what she believed was right. She was a tough cookie with a little bit of a potty mouth but a big heart.

This was a great addition to this series of very alien aliens, and how you don't know how great a love you might find unless you keep an open mind and take a leap of faith.

3.5 stars - This was the hero I had the hardest time understanding the heroine's attraction for (I mean he literally is a snake man with no legs o_0) but as per usual, I loved the marriage of convenience + cross cultural romance aspects

4 ⭐️ I had a great time!

"The day Kayog told me I had to marry an Ordosian to avoid execution, I thought my life was over. I never would have imagined it was in fact the beginning of a fairy tale."

WHAT TO EXPECT:
✨ alien romance
✨ primitive planet
✨ human x naga (snake-looking alien)
✨ MCs are skilled hunters
✨ marriage of convenience
✨ strangers to friends to lovers
✨ playful banter
✨ he falls first and hard
✨ 2.5/5 🌶️ (biting, knotting)
✨ cinnamon roll MMC
✨ healthy communication
✨ low angst romance
✨ HEA

My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed this one! I swear Regine Abel put drugs in this series because I'm freaking addicted. 😂

Serena and Szaro were fantastic MCs! I honestly loved them individually and as a couple. Serena is a total badass and can hold her own, but also has such a kind and generous heart. Szaro is fierce and powerful while also being a total cinnamon roll and an absolute angel. I adore him and how understanding he is with the situation Serena finds herself in; and how he's attracted to the fact that Serena is strong and capable. I love that he's always trying to make Serena comfortable, whether that's being playful to ease the tension or having her join him in a hunt / on ranger duties. Szaro doesn’t treat Serena like she’s made of glass, and I appreciate a man who just wants his woman to be exactly who she is and see her succeed. 👏

I'll be honest, I wasn't completely onboard with Szaro's snake-like features, so I didn't necessarily get into the smut. But these scenes were written well and they're definitely spicy! Got some knotting, biting, and 69ing. FYI, things start heating up around 60%, so it does take them a while to finally do the deed.

Also, in regards to pacing, I do feel like some parts are rushed as there are quite a few time jumps right before the end. The books in this series are only around 200 pages (kindle), so they're not very long and I understand things may need to be sped up to show some progression. But I would have liked to have stayed in this story a bit longer and experienced Serena and Szaro's life unfold more after the big conflict. It was fine getting a montage but I'd rather have spent some more time with the characters in these moments.

I actually enjoyed the plot about the Great Hunt. The entire premise centers around the Hunt, and I liked how Regine Abel continued to weave in drama alongside the romance. It was a good balance between the two.

I'm seriously enjoying this series and while I am having reservations about the next book because the MMC is a birdman (lol), I feel like I should just trust Regine Abel to deliver.

Physically, the hero couldn’t be more weird than this 😳😘😂.
But any girl, Alien or not, would be very lucky to be loved by a fantastic guy like him 😍.

Not sure what would I get after ‘I married a Lizardman’ but this one is a fab reading too 😘.

I’ve been aware of this book since it was first published. I didn’t read it until now, because…snakes. The alien hero is half man half snake. Nope. Nope. Nope. But then I saw I Married A Naga had rated as one of BookBub’s best sci-fi romances so I decided to try it.

I’m glad I did. It was pretty darn good. Very good, actually. Thanks to author Regine Abel’s excellent storytelling, I got accustomed to the idea of a snake-man (His bottom half is snake, and he has a human torso and a more-or-less human face framed by a cobra hood. And he has a forked tongue).

Serena is a hunter and goes to planet Trangor, known for its unusual wildlife, to engage in a hunting competition and earn credits. Under penalty of death, the hunters are not allowed to venture into Ordosian territory. But when Serena sees a young Ordosian mother and child about to be attacked, she enters the forbidden zone to save them. While the Ordosians are grateful, they can’t let the transgression pass. So she’s given the option of marrying Szaro the Great Hunter of the tribe. She intends the marriage to be temporary; he plans on forever.

Little by little she falls in love with her snake-man and his culture.

While Szaro will never be my book boyfriend (still can’t get over the snakes), I did warm to him and I enjoyed the story tremendously. The characters are engaging characters, and the detailed world-building is fantastic. Highly recommend!

4+ solid stars

I am too lazy for a full review so I'll just sum it up v. quickly:

I didn't really care for the hunting part and as I don't read a lot of fantasy the names and descriptions of different species weren't really my cuppa. Same like the rituals. That was boring for me.

But the romance part was absofuckinglutely delicious and so freaking steamy, I wanted to howl like a wolf to the moon.

I was at first a bit weirded out by the fact that our hero is practically a snake with a human head and arms and a spiked (!!!) penis, true, but he was sooooo swoonworthy that I couldn't care any less about this fact. Plus, he delivered in every aspect, so I rest my case.
He was an absolute sweetheart and I loved him completely.

I need to add that when the heroine was introduced she was described as tall and muscular, with golden brown skin and dressed in leather clothes and only one image popped into my head and I just couldn't wipe it from my mind lol:

She wasn't my cup of tea at first(I think it was the hunting and the fact that she was acting like a guy a lot) but as the story progressed, I must admit i liked her more and more. So no complaints from me here.

And I was really glad that the romance part wasn't overshadowed by the hunting stuff.
And I must admit I liked this one way more than the first book in the series.
Plus, the epilogue?
Perfection.
Hence the 4 solid stars.

I'm loving the Prime Mating Agency series and esp. when I need to read strong, sweet, and just plain good male and female characters.

The couple in this book are unexpectedly brought together because of a hunt on the MMC's planet and after the FMC bravely helps his people. There are cultural and physical differences they need to navigate, but the characters communicate and solve any issues that come up. They so clearly belong together and share the same interests, along with having great chemistry. There are steamy scenes that were *hot* but the story does take a bit of time to get there because the MMC gives the FMC time to adjust and be sure that's what she wants. There are so many caring moments in this book and the story wraps up nicely with a HEA.

Overall this was such a light and sweet love story. I hope Ms. Abel continues writing books like this one and I Married a Lizardman in this universe. These books just leave me with a smile and a happy feeling.

Hear me out....🤚🏻😅

😤I SEE THE LOOK ON YOUR FACE SAMANTHA, don't turn your nose up at me.❗

The story is actually good and pretty fucking realistic...if you ignore the giant snakes.

Hilarious too. I love how they question each others features and bodily functions.👁👄👁
Everything is explained beforehand so you will not be clutching your pearls in a frenzy.

Our girl is badass. (She gave birth to a lil snake child. If that is not hardcore I don't know what is).😳😎

Our guy was sweet as hell man. Like hands down he was absolutely amazing. I would totally consider getting freaky with this one. 🤭🤭

By far one of my strangest reads but their relationship was so endearing that I don't give a shit if I seem like a weirdo.👹

This one, unfortunately, wasn’t for me. I don’t care for masculine, obnoxious heroines and when the heroine starts comparing her sex life with her hero to the men she has given her body to before him, my skin crawls and I’m out. Too bad. The plot looked good, but I can’t stand a heroine who acts like a gross man.

Damn.
This was so fucking good!
I had an absolute Blast reading this story!
These characters immediately grabbed my heart.
Szaro instantly became one of my all time favorite MMCs. He’s such a sweetheart.
And the humor in this book! I think I giggled throughout the entire thing.

And Serena!
I love her disposition.

The way the relationship progresses between these two is fucking beautiful and had my heart squeezing with the love I could feel coming off the page.

The plot was fun and so interesting.
The world building was wonderfully written and so scenic I could just see it in my head.
I loved the culture and the learning and growing that happened.
And the sex. Damn. So hot.
And definitely alien. (🐓😉)

*sigh*
This was just fantastically enjoyable and I’m so happy it exists.
I can’t wait to see what happens next.
What alien will be mated, and what differences they have to overcome/accept to find their happiness together.
So fucking good!

3.5 stars. I really like this series! Overall, it’s light and sweet and a very easy read. The author does an admiral job of world building when creating her new worlds and species. I like that the aliens created in these books are different enough from humans to make them actually interesting. There are way too many alien books out there that have aliens who are slightly larger humans, with a different skin color, and a big d***. There’s a distinct lack of originality in a lot of alien books, so this series is a welcome change for me.

I hope the author continues to release more books in this series!

You knew that new kid who can literally do everything better than everyone else? Well, that's Serena. Nobody of the indigenous community had the idea to write a book about the flora and fauna because they are obviously so primitive but help is on its way... 🫠

I liked the story, Szaro is a formidable alien husband and Serena is a curious mindopen human who can really appreciate her new world... It just feels a bit human-centered, okay?

I would have easily given it 5 stars if Serena had been allowed to be just human instead of some kind of superhuman.

The story of why they met is interesting enough on its own - imo.

Book 2 of the Prime Mating Agency follows a new couple/world with human Serena and Ordosian Szaro. I picked this up because I really enjoyed the first book I Married A Lizardman. (review HERE Although this is a completely different scenario with Serena not willingly entering the bride program, the “feel” is very similar.

Szaro and Serena’s dynamic is very respectful and understanding. There’s not much conflict or drama, but I found it refreshing. The relationship is built from respect to friends to lovers, and it felt very authentic. As an animal lover, I absolutely LOVED that his people were the guardians of the planets animals.

Bottom Line- This is a sweet, well developed sci-fi romance with and “alien” alien as Szaro resembles a King Cobra. I really enjoyed it, but it could be boring for some readers if you don’t connect with the mc’s. It’s not erotica or the spanking variety of sci-fi romance, and free to read with KU.

I Married a Naga was a lovely romance and is part of the Prime Mating Agency Series, but can be read as a standalone.

I’ve read half man half snake stories before and enjoyed them.

The storytelling is splendid. Our heroine Serena is very confident and capable. She goes to planet Trangor for a hunting competition and there are rules. One is not to venture into Ordosian territory, but of course she sees an Ordosian mother and child in trouble and goes to help. From there she finds herself in the tribe and having to marry. She doesn't intend for forever, but things change. Little by little she falls in love with her snake-man and his culture. The characters are engaging and the world-building is fantastic.

I Married a Naga was an entertaining read. I recommend it!

Absolutely obsessed with this series!! 😍

Serena is only in Tangor for the First Hunt. She never expected she would be forced to marry an Ordosian or be executed.. just for saving a female and her child. Szaro has had his eyes on the human female since he watched her hunt. He has six months to make the female feel the way about him as he does for her.

These two! 😍 They are so much more alike than they had originally realized and it was so cute to witness. Szaro makes so many changes to his home to make her feel welcome… SWOON! I adored the crap out of him. He’s so considerate o and respectful.

Serena is such a badass. She doesn’t hesitate to help even if it means putting herself in danger. She adjusts so well to the Ordosian’s and her role. They are such a perfect match.

I loved this so much! 🥰
