Gabby Thomas wasn’t sure which end was up. Was everyone in this town crooked? Everything at the police station was in disarray, and now she found herself the new police chief. She had to fire the lot of them and start from scratch. Working with the Feds wasn’t proving to be the easiest solution either. Thank goodness she had found her mate, Madden. He was her rock.

Madden McCray wasn’t expecting to find his mate when he sat down with the new police chief, but he was glad he did. Gabby was proving to be just what he needed.

Gabby and Madden share an epic love, but with Gabby’s visions of the future, will love alone be enough for what lies ahead? Find out in the final installment of McCray Bruin—Madden.

'Madden' is the sixth book and conclusion to Kathi S. Barton's "McCray Bruin" series. She's brought everything full circle with this storyline, answered all the questions, mates are all in place, and a new generation of babies are either here or on their way. Any conflicts or drama, and there were several, were quickly resolved this time without fanfare and even though there are those happily ever after moments, grab the tissues. The ending isn't what I expected.

Madden, the last book in the McCray series.
Such a good read. I have loved going along the journey with these brothers and watching them grow from caring men, brothers, and sons to husbands and dads. This book had an ending that I honestly was not expecting. Having read many of this authors books I've gotten so used to the happy endings for the characters because they all typically tend to be immortal.
But as great as this book was, I have to say I was disappointed that there was no actual conflict in this book like there were in the other ones.
All the issues in this one were either tied up at the end of the last book (Pierce) or were so quickly resolved that it almost wasn't even worth mentioning. The police and missing homeless were all pretty much taken care of when the old mayor and chief were arrested. The step-mother issue for Hailey was easily taken care of as well and she was just killed in a jail cell.

The final

Great story about madden and gabby. Nice to catch up on everyone and see how they were helping every one. Very emotive ending but a great way to close the series. As always a great book.
