What do you get when you mix beer, tequila, and sexual fantasies?

Don’t ask.

Quinn
With a great job, two of the greatest friends ever, a supportive sister, and an apartment all her own, Quinn Erickson didn’t have much to complain about. Well…if she could just ignore her serious issues with abandonment, then she had nothing to complain about. Still, other than her emotional issues, Quinn’s life was pretty uncomplicated.

However, when she demands a girls’ night, so that she can find a hot guy to ‘destress’ with, there isn’t enough alcohol on the planet to undo the mess that she’s gotten herself into. Armed with the plan to meet a hot guy, rent a hotel room, do the deed, then hope it’s good enough to see him again, Quinn thinks she’s got this thing won. That is, until a catastrophe hits like a seasoned boxer.

Catastrophe = Chase Alexander, her boss.

Chase
With a successful business, two of the most loyal friends ever, more money than he’ll ever need, and beautiful women at his fingertips, Chase Alexander had no complaints. Well…if he didn’t count his childhood and his lack of faith in people, then he had nothing to complain about. Still, other than his issues with most people being counterfeit, Chase’s life was pretty magnificent.

However, when he demands a night out with the guys, so that he can get laid, there aren’t enough lawyers on the planet to talk him out of the mess he’s going to dive into headfirst. Armed with the plan to show up to every court date to fight kidnapping charges, Chase is pretty confident that he has this thing won. That is, until craziness starts to take over.

Craziness = Quinn Erickson, his employee.

Oh, the web we weave…
With a girls’ night that’s turned into a complete bust, and a guys’ night that’s turned into possible felonious abduction charges, Quinn finds herself drawn to Chase, regardless of the fact that he is an obvious player. In a battle of the sexes, Quinn and Chase end up fighting it out in no-holds-barred style.

Their attraction is undeniable, but then so is the complicated fact that she works for him. With their working relationship being an issue for both of them, everything comes falling down all around them when their secret is no longer a secret.

Quinn finds herself regretting that damn plan to go out and get laid, and Chase finds himself regretting being attracted to purple-haired spitfires.

This book contains adult language, adult situations, explicit sexual encounters, violence, accidents, and some really horrible karaoke singing. If sensitive to any of the aforementioned issues, please do not purchase.

There's not much to add to my bio, I'm pretty boring...LOL. My favorite thing is to read and, last year, I decided to trade in some of those reading hours and try my hand at writing. The experience has been one of the best things I could have ever embarked upon. It's turned into a hobby that is fun and thoroughly enjoyable. When I'm not reading or writing, I'm spending time with my family or friends.

God this story sucked! While I liked all the characters and the banter between them I HATED Quinn. Again, I liked her but she was just such a complete mess of a character for a romance story or as a lead in anything really. She made a strong independent woman look HORRIBLE!! All they did was scream and argue with each other or boink. NO combination of this is appealing to me. This story was a disaster everyone should skip.

The behavior of all the characters would have made sense if they were teenagers or very young adults, new to life and love, but they were neither. I can’t remember what their ages were mentioned as being but they are well past college and solidified in their careers so 30’s give or take only a very little bit. So the immaturity, irrational, childish behavior was sickening in the beginning but by the end it was hateful and meaningless antics.

It literally took a near death experience for the author to pull out of the horror corner that she had written these main characters into. Like I said this book was a disaster.

On a side note, the injuries sustained were implied as being life threateningly series, only to then be summarized as arm, wrist and ankle fractures, to further be downgraded to ONE shattered ankle. Then it’s ultimately healed within one to two months. Umm no. I work in orthopedics and for the author to carelessly forget some of the injuries but then to miracle heal her character was simply a gross exaggeration and lost all of the little respect for this book that I had left. The author was sloppy here and I’m disappointed.

Good luck.

Chasing Quinn
By M.E.Clayton
Main Characters: Quinn and Chase
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
5 out of 5 stars
This author has a hilarious sense of humor. This is a contemporary, stand-alone, no cliffhanger romance with a huge dose of humor. I loved all the characters in this book. This is the 2nd book in "The Seven Deadly Sins series". And now I am starting book one. (As usual backwards) I am hoping to read all 5 of them. I highly recommend, there is so much snarky humor in this series!

I was so looking forward to Chase and Quinn’s book. Chase is supposed to be the calm one out of the SMA heroes, but he’s got his work cut out for him chasing Quinn.

Summary:
Quinn Erickson just needed a little stress and tension relief. Her plan was solid. Go out with her girls, have a few drinks, and find a stranger to have a good time with. Unfortunately, her plans take a wrong turn when she runs into her boss’ boss’ boss. Not all hope is lost, though. Chase Alexander is a playboy and may be just what she’s looking for in no-strings attached. Chase knows the spirited brunette with blue highlights should be off limits. After all, she’s his employee, but Chase can’t help that she keeps sneaking into his every thought. Knowing that Quinn doesn’t expect forever, Chase sets out to change her mind. He’ll chase her down if he has to. And with her stubborn refusal to give in, Chase embraces the challenge to win not only her body, but her heart and soul, too.

This book started out great. It didn’t pick up exactly where book one ended, but pretty close. I was really looking forward to getting to know Chase and Quinn better. I liked them both in Catching Avery, especially Quinn. Chase was everything I could have wanted him to be. He was calmer than Nick and Julian, more outgoing, and a people person. Getting his POV gave me all of that and so much more. Chase was a great guy. He was hardworking, successful, confident, caring, and loyal. I loved that he did so much for his family (his mom especially), and that he had such a long and deep history with Nick and Julian. Even with all that, he was alpha, possessive, protective, and could be intense. Quinn started out great, but my position on her character changed dramatically as the book progressed. I absolutely adored Quinn when we met her. She was this little independent spitfire that didn’t take sh*t. I loved that she wasn’t afraid of standing up to anyone and didn’t curb her outspoken personality even at work. She worked it. But it didn’t last. By the end of the book, I was so irritated with her that I skimmed a lot of her POVs. I understood she had issues, but I think she took it way too far, while completely ignoring that Chase had issues, too. I loved the idea of her and Chase together. Chase needed the challenge of winning her and I think having such a strong woman gave him a thrill. They had some really good steamy moments, but that was mainly all they had. I don’t feel we got any time where things were just good between them. One, the other, or both were trying to apologize, forgive, run away, or whatever. It seemed the entire book was them going back and forth, only really being together when they were having sex, which is a shame since they could have been fantastic. In the end, I struggled for a good portion as to whether I would be able to finish this book or not. I also wavered on my rating, but I couldn’t dismiss Chase just because I was mad at Quinn. I felt strongly that she was being a self-centered biotch most of the time. It just seemed that her issues were all that was important. Chase was always the one to mess up when he had issues, too, and she never addressed them. Was Chase perfect? No, he made mistakes, but so did Quinn, but it was always quickly turned around to how Chase screwed up and how he was going to fix it. Chase played no games. He saw Quinn, wanted her, chased her, fell for her, and set out to have her, but she just couldn’t stop pushing him away because of her own insecurities. It just made me so angry that he was expected to cater to her every whim or risk her going off like a volcano and doing or saying something that inevitably stalled things between them. To go along with that, I was also pretty disappointed in Nick, Julian, Avery, and Izzy. Nick and Julian know a side of Chase that the girls don’t, so they know him. They are brothers and at one point they actually believed he would go against all he believed in and accused him of wrongdoing. No faith or support, just automatic accusation because the girls were mad. That’s some shady shite for best friends/brothers. And Avery and Izzy never once took the initiative to sit Quinn down and tell her she was being a biotch. They just went along while she created more havoc. I don’t know. Maybe I’ve read too many of these too quickly and it just came out with this book, but I was disappointed. My rating has everything to do with how awesome I thought Chase was, and how annoying I thought Quinn was. I was so looking forward to finally getting Julian and Izzy’s story, but I think I need to take a breather so I can come back without any bias to read it. And I really hope Quinn’s appearances are background. ♡

I should have given up after the first book but nooooooo. Make me laugh a little and I come back wanting for more. It's like I'm asking to be disappointed.

This book is almost identical to the first except somehow worse.

The one character who was tough and a badass and had a spine was written out to be some kind of wild mare that just needed to be broken in. Jesus!!

While I was able to go around the misogyny of the first book and appreciate the characters in their simplest form, this book was just OK. Worse only because here was a really nice, strong female character but was given the same 'submit' rhetoric. Trying to side step the shit on the road wasn’t worth it.

I gotta say, I’m intrigued about Julian and Isabella. They at least seem to be a different book from its predecessors and not a clone. They also fit in with the caveman/over the top/possessive trope a lot better which I’m hoping will not be implying that women just need to submit and all that shit AGAIN.

Will I spend more money to read the next books? That’s an indefinite hold for now.

Will I read any more books from this author? If the misogyny was just a theme in this series and not in every book they have or ever will make, then yes. I’m actually thinking of read the 'Facing The Enemy' book. Otherwise, no thank you.

Does the 2 stars surprise you when usually I would have put this down as a 1-star rating? Can't do that because with all my bitching about the questionable morals, I don't have much qualms about the actual writing. It was still funny and made me laugh out loud at parts, still made me somewhat enjoy certain areas. I am still holding on to the hope that there are better books from this author.

I've read books with straight up crazy, with funny, with struggle, with past scars and everything in between.
But this book and these two are just...no words. Over the top on every chart and I honestly didn't see how they can work. At more than one point I hoped they would just go their separate ways and call it quits. It was just too much for my liking or understanding.
I was tired AF of their lunatic tendencies.

I'm giving it a 3,5 stars.
