When archaeologist Elissa Grant is asked to curate a new exhibition on ancient Rome, she can’t say no—but the last thing she expects is to meet a man who looks like the model for the 2,000 year old statue that’s part of the exhibition...like, exactly like the model. But somehow, Elissa feels more than safe with Joash. His presence seems to awaken something inside her...and more than anything else, that something says home.
Tiger shifter Joash Namur is a legend among his kind. Believed to be ancient, known to be powerful, he lives quietly, finding joy in his friends’ happiness—until fate strikes again, offering a new chance for heartbreak...or happy endings. He will do whatever he can, however he must, to protect Elissa, even if it means finally letting the truth of his long story be known.
Joash has tried for eons to capture fleeting love. Now, with the laws that have ruled the gladiator shifters for centuries finally breaking down, and with his fated mate once more at his side, Joash must face the single challenger who has visited so much pain upon him...and all their kind.
Can Elissa and Joash finally break the cycle of love and loss? Find out in the final exciting installment of the Gladiator Shifters, GLADIATOR TIGER!
Finally, after Millenia, Joash gets revenge and a reunion with his mate.
Joash Namur is an original gladiator shifter. He is 2 thousand years old and he became a tiger shifter in Ancient Rome during a gladiator fight in the coliseum. What most of the other shifters are unaware of, is that he was mated to a gladiatrix at the time. He has managed to find her again and again over the years, in different reincarnations. Now, he has found her latest and probably eighth, reincarnation, archeologist Doctor Elissa Grant. This time he is forced to try something new, he has to tell her that he is a shifter and that she is not only his mate but the reincarnation of Livia, his first love. The gladiator shifters have a powerful enemy, one who is also as old as Joash and a showdown is coming, he and Elissa need to stand strong together to succeed, at freeing all the shifters from this enemy’s clutches. This is not your common shifter romance, it involves magic, a goddess’ whims and favours and quite a lot of Roman history. It does have very strong compelling characters, great world building as well as lots of action, comedy and intrigue.
Amazing read! A story where love stands up to the test of time. Joash has lived a long life and has found his fated mates soul many times over the years. Now for the ninth time it seems fate wants to right the wrong that happened 2,000 years ago. Lupus has come out of hiding to answer the challenge to reclaim the power of the Ringmaster. But it seems the Goddess is angry that Lupus stole and corrupted the power that didn't belong to him. This is an awesome story that I highly recommend. The story could be read as a standalone but you will get more out of it if you read the series in order. Murphy Lawless is a talented author who writes a great story that captures your attention from the start. This has a storyline that flows so well you will have a hard time putting it down. Read it and you won't be disappointed!
This book has a lot riding on it - Joash's mysterious past is hinted at and teased for the first four books, and Lawless gets to finally deliver here. Does it deliver? Kinda.
I love the (!) moments and reveals regarding Joash's past, how he meets Elissa, and how the fight to end all fights plays out, but the pacing doesn't work for me. The other books in the series have skirmishes and bumps in the road leading up to the climatic fight, but in this book there's only... talking. Lots of talking, explaining the hows and heretofores and whys, but that's it.
Extra points for making the excessive flashbacks/duel timeline interesting and relevant, but the sloggy middle keeps this at three stars.
Book 5 it was a while since I read book 4 so took a minute to catch up and with the history lesson it was confusing for a while.I enjoyed the one soul following her though time (read story's like this before but not often) it's very sad poor guy waiting for his soul mate, surprised he could hook up with other inbetween thought shifters can't after finding there mate? Yes she died but she would see him again. Think this is the end now of this series.worth the read
This was full of intriguing back story. There was so much unpacked that I couldn't stop reading. I love the characters so much. The ending was incredible to read. I thoroughly enjoy that the characters are so different in personality and in their appearance. So many shifter books have the same build and appearances throughout. This brought a bit of everybody into the mix. My favorite thing was the historical pieces and how they melded with the current events. I could read Joash and Elissa for a whole other series I think.
This was a really lovely finish to the Gladiator Shifters series and was pretty much exactly what I was looking for when I picked it up.
I don't generally enjoy the fated mates trope. Basically: when I like books that contain it, I like them in spite of the trope, not because of it. Somehow, though, when Murphy Lawless writes it, it annoys me less - how's that for damning with faint praise.
Regardless, Joash has always been my favourite character in this series, and it was great to see him finally get his own book
Can't get enough of Lawless! Romantic, good characters, great plotlines, not to much sex, and a different take on shifters! Gladiator Tiger is by far the best and the most incredible ending ever! I immediately started reading it again this morning. Thank you, Murphy Lawless, for sharing your talent and visions!
What a great ending to this series. Joash has been an enigma since the beginning. You can tell he's been lonely and secretive, but boy does he come alive when he finally finds his mate again.
A fun twist with reincarnation & Elissa is pretty awesome at adapting to the changes her meeting Joash brings about.
Revealing what's happened and what needs to be done involves all parties from previous books. It was pretty great how she tied those to the Firsts.
Epic battle at the end was pretty satisfying, with a very fitting end.
I was trying to keep my expectations for the big showdown light so that I didn’t feel underwhelmed. This FAR exceeded any imaginations though! I love that all of the characters from the prior books are involved heavily in the book and ending. Definitely don’t want spoilers to ruin it, but this book alone makes the series worth binge reading!
I am so happy that Joash found his mate. Elissa is his purrfect mate. This book was purrfect completion of stories. So great to see characters from other stories here.
This has to be without doubt the most riveting culmination of a series I have ever had the privilege of reading. You have to read the entire gladiator series. You simply have to. Breathtaking.
Joash & Elissa's story brings the conclusion to the Gladiator Shifters to a brilliant magnificent end. Murphy Lawless has outdone herself in how she managed the dilemma that the Ringmaster caused.
I enjoyed this entire series. The ending was great. Even better than what I thought would happen. These all had fated mates, but it wasn't annoying. There was still a story around it.
I loved the creativity in this series and how it developed. This last book, though, is something special. The author does a great job of wrapping things up in an unexpected way. Very satisfying.
I read the whole series over the weekend. I love Zoe Chant and have read most of her books and just found out that she is also Murphy Lawless I just had to read one of her books and found myself hooked. Thanks
Really enjoyed all the books in this series, excellent writing by Murphy Lawless, once I started to read it had to continue until the end. Wonderful believable characters, good storylines and HEA for all what's not to enjoy x
I was impressed by the author’s imagination and ability to keep the timelines consistent. A wonderful series as well as a new imagining of the root of shifters’ beginnings!
Absolutely loved this series brilliant storylines amazing characters definitely a keeper . This book is definitely a five stars and I would recommend this book/series to everyone
This was the fifth and final book in the Gladiator Shifters and it was a fantastic conclusion to the series. I loved Elissa and Joash's story. The world building and all the characters for this series has been amazing. I highly recommend these books
A beautiful ending to the gladiator series, with Joash pulling it all together. From the earliest beginnings of the shifters to their role in the future, this has it all.
Superb storytelling. A great mix of ancient history and modern lives. I read all 5 books over the weekend although I did have a couple of late night's.
This is the most amazing book, it makes you think of love makes you feel if you were there to the people through this series and it explodes you have to read
