Lucia Sorrentino may come from a long line of chefs, but her attempts in the kitchen always turn into a recipe for disaster. Unfortunately, she’s just as untalented when it comes to her love life. She calls on her best friend, Remy, to help her wine and dine a woman. Will it become another cooking nightmare, or can she pull it off?
Jae is the author of twenty-six award-winning romances between women. She lives in the sunniest city of Germany, near the French and Swiss borders. The writing bug bit her at the age of eleven.
She used to work as a psychologist but gave up her day job in 2013 to become a full-time writer and a part-time editor. As far as she’s concerned, it’s the best job in the world.
When she’s not writing, she is an avid reader of sapphic books, indulges her ice cream and office supply addictions, and watches way too many crime shows.
Nice, short friends to lovers story. A non-cook, Lucia (great name, BTW) who comes from a family of chefs sends an SOS to her best friend, Remy who is a chef in her family’s restaurant. Lucia ruined dinner during a practice run that she planned to cook for a first date. Remy comes to the rescue and let’s say it not just the pasta water that gets hot and steamy!
A very shory story by Jae and it's reminiscent of her latest book, Chemistry Lessons. This is a sweet friends to lovers tale between 2 best friends. This is nice lunch-break read.
I loved this sweet story! Both MCs were adorable and instantly likable. I finished the short story and wished it was a full length novel. Super easy quick read. Low angst.
Whining and Dining by Jae 4.5/5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟✨ This is a sweet friends-to-lovers short story. As always, a well-written story by Jae. Remy, a chef, comes to Lucia’s rescue to help her cook for her date. Although Lucia’s whole family are chefs, she’s useless in the kitchen. Will Remy help save the day? And if so, in what way?
Hot and sultry kitchen chemistry between two friends
Another sweet short story describing how two friends discover their chemistry in a kitchen where a few dishes are ruined because of their distraction. Another short story winner from Jae.

4 stars. A very cute and fun friends to lovers novella. Jae delivers for me every time. This was well written and light and I liked the characters Lucia and Remy. I definitely wanted more by the end because I want to see where their relationship goes next.
Such a cute little friends-to-lovers novella. I was captivated and left wanting more of Lucia and Remy's stories. One can only hope for more, in the mean time I'll be reading more of Jae's books. She has a way with words 😍
This short story was delightful and I absolutely loved it. Unfortunately it was SO short that there simply wasn’t a lot to sink your teeth into. That’s all!
I want to rate this higher but there simply isn’t a justification to do so with the story contents.
As a proof of concept this is a success, and Jae could definitely turn it into a full novel.
FF - contemporary romance - white MCs - no steam - pov: first dual - best friends to lovers - casually queer - food industry - short story - 4 stars. This is literally a one-chapter story of a cooking kerfluffle between two friends. Free to newsletter subscribers of Jae, it was just nice and easy.
