DK are my favourite travel guides along with their pocket sized Top Tens. This one covering Great Britain is actually 25 years old but its been reprinted more recently and I'm sure lots of it hasn't changed. Its clearly set out with good information, lots of colour pictures, and, my favourite, cross sections of buildings and towns.

tại sao ha, tại vì bạn đâu có phải nòi nhặt ve chai, sao hiểu được tấm lòng của đứa nhặt ve chai =))
chắc bạn thấy mình bị khùng, hjhjhj
vậy đó, đây là cuốn sách đặc biệt, đọc nhiều quá quên hết rồi, luyện được thêm 1 tầng công phu đọc xong quên hết
vậy vui không? ờ, đọc xong cũng vẫn không thích đi du lịch, nhưng bỗng nhiên lại muốn đọc sách về du lịch, vậy thì chắc là vui

This is one of my favorite of DK Publishing's travel guides. This particular piece of eye candy takes you across Great Britain with loads of color photos of things to see and do and places to go for both people looking forward to a trip and armchair travelers alike.

These are hands down the most thorough guide books when it comes to the visual aspect. You could truly be an armchair traveler with these.
The only downside is it seems they put so much detail into certain areas and attractions and don't focus on other areas so it could skew where you chose to visit.
I would suggest if you are planning a trip to use this as a start but then back it up with further research to make sure you put together at the best itinerary for you.

"A visual as well as a informational feast" is
how one blurb puts the Eyewitness Guides, and
indeed I'd class it more along the lines of
a good reference book.
With plenty of glossy pictures and diagrams of
parts of towns you'd want to visit, this style
lends itself to learning all about where you
want to go, or perhaps you're just dreaming a bit.
It does have a couple sections on practical
information, using transportation and the like
but the book's strong point is giving you a
look around.
Since it is a heavy duty softback book, not
likely you'd want to tote this around with you
seeing the sights.

These DK guides provide a good overview of a place: cultural and historical background, helpful maps, suggestions for activites, lodging, local food, and places to see. The abundance of high-quality photographs is especially helpful for determining what things you'd like to see for yourself. For visiting somewhere for the first time, this is a good guide to begin with.

This is a comprehensive and very visual guide to the tourist sites across the UK from prehistoric stone circles to modern art galleries. While this may not have everything and probably misses some real little gems, it is a great starting point for those visiting the UK and us homegrown tourists looking to take a little road trip.

وفي دليل السفر ليس من الضروري ان نقرا الكتاب كله, وانما المعلومات المهمة والمناطق التي يرغب الانسان بزيارتها
بالنهاية وجدت ان الاعتماد على الكتاب في السفر بات غير ضروري هذه الايام فهناك معلومات متوفرة على الانترنت بشكل جيد ووافي بالاضافة الى ان التعرف على اناس جدد في البلد الذي ترغب بالسفر اليه والتنقل معهم امر ممتع للغاية
بالاضافة الى ان الحياة مغامرة :)
يضاف الى سلبيات السفر مع الكتاب, الحجم الكبير لهكذا كتب ومن المعلوم انه يفضل تماما ان يكون حملك خفيفا قدر الامطكان خلال التنقل
الجزء الجيد من الكتاب كان القسم التاريخي اذ كانت فيه معلومات مفيدة عن تاريخ برييطانيا
كما لاحظت ان هذه السلسلة تحوي صورا ومخططات توضيحة اكثر من سلسلة lonely planet وهذا مجرد شعور مبدئي ربما بحاجة لتاكيد لاحقا

My husband is PCS-ing to RAF Lakenheath, so I figured I might as well read up on things to see and do while we're over there! It's very helpful because instead of feeling like I'm reading a phone book (which is how most travel books feel and look), this one has bright photos and maps, small blurbs about a lot of different places (instead of lots of info on one boring museum or building), and it's pretty lightweight considering it covers all of Great Britain.

This is a good overall UK guide book. I was surprised by the amount of detail about some pretty obscure places we visited in Scotland.
It was a little heavy. We may have been better served with individual London and Scotland books.

I think that DK Eyewitness Travel books are among the best. This was comprehensive and informative, but not to the point of me getting bored.

Beautiful to browse and great fodder for daydreams! I like the street-level illustrated maps with suggested routes for some attractions. If I ever make it to Britain, I'd use this to plan my trip, and I'd also love to have it on Kindle for quick reference while on vacation.
