Professor Tess Alset is transported back in time 200 years to 1690 in Salem, Massachusetts, where magic and evil lurk. She and her clones are accused of witchcraft and must devise a way to flee back to their own time before they are murdered in the Salem Witch Trials. Things get more complicated when a beautiful woman befriends the small group of allies, but she is much more than she appears to be. The nearby tribe of Native Americans offer their help just as the powerful reverend leads the charge in spiritual, physical, and paranormal battle. What risks will Tess take in order to achieve fame, love, and prominence? Is her life worth the glory attached to death? Only time will tell.
Jessica Lucci writes about modern issues while maintaining historic integrity. She is the winner of the IHIBRP 5 Star Award, and received Honorable Mention for the LesFic Bard Book Awards 2019. She makes her home in Massachusetts, USA, where she is currently writing a historical fiction love triangle.
Just in time for Halloween 2021, Jessica Lucci's newest book is appropriate for the season. Titled "Salem Switch," fans of Ms. Lucci's steampunk fiction are in for a treat. Those familiar with her Watch City Trilogy will be pleased to see the return of the intrepid Professor Tess Alset and her faithful companion Verdandi. Tess is obsessed with perfecting time travel and while she does, it isn't what she expected. Tess finds herself back in Salem, Massachusetts but in the worst time possible which is during the dreaded witch hunting and killings. Also because of previous attempts at time travel, she finds she replicated herself three times over as exact clones. Adding to the chaos in steps the beautiful Hazel Feathergill who Tess finds more than enchanting. Unbeknownst to her, Hazel has some deadly tricks up her witchy sleeve. As in her previous books Ms. Lucci addresses some serious issues in her fanciful fiction. Certainly there is religious intolerance but also racism and being LGBTQ in an unforgiving world that persist even today. Will Tess and Verdandi escape those hellbent on their demise and return to their future? Only reading this book will provide such an answer. Suffice to say, I found "Salem Switch" totally bewitching like all the rest of Jessica Lucci's books.
Another awesome story about Tess Alset experimenting with time. She and her team travel back to Salem Massachusetts during the paranoia of witches and gets herselfs entangled in Puritans, Natives and witches. Hard to put down, actually didn't, read it in one sitting.
