BITTERSWEET: SOMETHING LIKE A NICHOLAS SPARKS LOVE STORY

Rate this book
“You know, humans are like puzzles. We have different pieces, different people, that fit with us and complete us.”

Chelsea and Peter are two teenagers who fall in love but have all of the odds against them. Chelsea follows the rules. Peter is a troublemaker. But the sparks they ignite in each other’s hearts are the kind that few people ever experience. That is, until Peter is forced to leave the town in which they live.

Seven and a half years later Chelsea and Peter are reunited, but things have changed, and the obstacles standing between them have grown bigger. Chelsea hasn’t completely healed after her parents’ death, and Peter’s criminal family have it in for him.

Are Chelsea and Peter each other’s perfectly fitting puzzle pieces? Or are they better off with other people?

Fantastic

Fantastic, this story is so beautiful. Two people broken by circumstance, come together and fix the broken peices. I loved these characters and how they progressed. Simply beautiful.

And something like a Nicholas Sparks love story it was indeed.
The reason you will see a picture of this book on my laptop (if you are reading this on Instagram), is because I literally could not put this down. It went so far that I was reading on my phone on the bus, reading on my laptop at school and reading on my ereader at home. I spent my whole day invested in this story.
Quote: “You know, humans are like puzzles. We have different pieces, different people, that fit with us and complete us.”
Plot:
This story follows Chelsea and Peter, two completely different teenagers with troubled pasts. Chelsea is a sweet girl, that doesn’t really ever cause any trouble. Peter is trouble. In their pain and sadness they find each other and they ignite the love and life in each other. They find themselves by being together and even though they still face outside troubles, when they are together they are whole.
Then everything changes. Peter leaves. Chelsea is left on her own. Even though they both move on, they do stay in each other's hearts. And then they meet again…
Characters:
We mainly follow our MC’s, Peter and Chelsea. Chelsea, who is an orphan with the biggest heart and brain you could imagine. Peter, who has a troubled family, who pretends to be tough but has so much softness buried deep inside him. We switch between their POV’s but once in a while we get other POV’s too. E.g. we get an inside in Spencers (Peter's brother) thoughts. These extra POV’s are always placed at the best possible moments. They make sure to have a big impact on the story and they give extra insights when we most need them. I won't spoil it but the POV’s at the end have emotional impacts too. They make you feel even more.
Genre:
This is a ya romance novel, which can be expected by the title. It does have some action in it though. Peter's family is super violent so they stir things up once every while. I normally stick to YA Fantasies but this writer always surprises me by how much I can enjoy a novel that isn’t a fantasy. In a lot of romances I get bored, or the story gets too predictable but I didn't feel that way with this one. You could really feel the Nicholas Sparks influences.
conclusion:
This book has a really fun writing style with inspiring characters and a strong plot. It makes you daydream. It doesn’t make you forget your real life issues, no it makes you realise that you can conquer anything that comes your way. I’ve read books by this author in the past and her writing has really grown in my opinion. I loved this book best though. It’s not what I would normally go for but this book reminded me that I need to explore more genres and open myself up for other types of books. It can turn out so well. This is a book that everyone should read, no matter their age. I really enjoyed this. To end this review I want to share one last quote by Penny And Chelsea because I loved it that much: “love knows no age”.

Chelsea and Peter's love story is certainly bittersweet. Chelsea loves Nicholas Sparks's books. She dreams of a romance straight from one of his stories.
Chelsea is the good girl, with a tragic past and Peter is the bad boy, with a disreputable family. They are brought together through some unhappy circumstances and become friends.
This is such a sweet story. Both the main characters are easy to get to know and to like. I found myself really invested in their decisions and their lives. They both face obstacles . It isn't just a straightforward love story where boy meets girl, they fall in love and live happily ever after. The twists and turns of the story make it interesting and there are times, I wasn't sure at all, how things would end up.
The book was well written and flows beautifully, making it easy to read. I didn't want to stop reading, so I could find out how things would finish. All the time I was reading the second half, where they meet up years later, I was hoping they would get back together, but I just wasn't sure. Right up until towards the end, it could go either way and I liked this, it made the book all the more enjoyable.
Having read other books by this author, I am enjoying seeing the different stories she brings to life. This is another great book and I recommend it to anyone who loves a romance. It is uplifting and sweet. It made me smile and believe that love stories can really happen, just like a Nicholas Sparks novel.

I recently read this book called Bittersweet: Something Like A Nicholas Sparks Love Story and it is super cute. It’s about these two kids who are complete opposites who meet in high school that fall in love and then years later they reconnect and see whether they are still in love or not. Whether they are each other’s missing puzzle piece.

Chelsea always told her parents she wanted a love story like she’s read in a Nicholas Sparks book and that’s basically what she got. This book reminded me of different Nicholas Sparks books like The Notebook and A Walk Remember. Chelsea comes from a wealthy family, and loses her parents in a car crash. She meets Peter who comes from a rather deadbeat family who love to steal and are just a terrible family. Peter meets Chelsea and wants to change and be a better person for Chelsea. And this is their story of how they help each other and become better people and fall in love at the same time. Peter helps Chelsea with her grief and to continue living and Chelsea helps Peter become a better person unlike his father and brother.

It’s just such a sweet coming of age romance. I recommend his book if you love sweet romances. 3.5/5 ⭐️

It’s a beautiful and the poignant love story. It’s about accepting and choosing the love over the haunting past. Despite knowing everything about Peter Walker and his family background, Chelsea accepts him, but time sets them apart. Yet their true love and devotion towards each other brings them back together. It’s an evidence that true love blossoms even in the most unfortunate events and mishap.

For a book that’s hardly known it’s lovely. A small town romance and loved Peter.

Perfect read as a filler book
