What a cleverly crafted story this is. Lauren is trying to rebuild her life after being liberated from prison. She's living in a shack and working in a cafe. But she's out to get revenge on the people who framed her. Journalist Nate Black says he believes her innocence, but does he?

Filled with great characters, plenty of twists and a captivating storyline, I was hooked from the beginning. I could not and did not want to put the book down. I have not read the author before but it won't be my last. Loved it.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Boldwoodbooks and the author #EvieHunter for my ARC of #TheFall in exchange for an honest review.

Fall and redemption with a twist would be an appropriate subheading for The Fall. Lauren has been caught twice in games bigger than her. In the backstory, she had to serve some time in prison; now, she’s on probation and she has to put together a new life – until another curveball heads her way.

Interesting and easy read about revenge. Full of tension and very suspenseful. For me the sex was a little too much and not necessary to the story, but it might appeal to other readers.
On the whole a good read.

I loved reading The Fall the story of Lauren and how she ended up in prison and now she wants revenge. This book had me hooked from start to finish with Lauren trying to rebuild her life after her release from prison, her parents don't want her at home so she lives in a shack. Working in a cafe keeps her busy and one day she finds a dog that soon become her companion. Nate Black wants Laurens story about how she got involved with insider trading but will Lauren tell her side. Brilliant Book Loved it.5*

Prior to being invited to take part in the blog tour for ‘The Fall’, I must admit that I hadn’t come across Evie Hunter before. I love discovering new authors and so without further ado, I dived straight in. Overall I did enjoy reading ‘The Fall’ but more about that in a bit.
I can’t really say that I especially warmed to the character of Lauren Miller and I certainly didn’t trust her. There was just something that set off little alarm bells for me. It could of course be the fact that I have read too much crime fiction and I assume nothing, believe nobody and challenge everything. She is released from prison after serving a jail term for financial crimes. She is adamant that she wasn’t working alone but nobody appears to believe her. After her release she keeps herself to herself and works hard in the little café in the layby. To a degree, Lauren is not looking forward to her ‘secret’ location being leaked and her past catching up with her. However, Lauren is also determined to take her revenge on the person who she claims was just as involved in the crimes as she was. What happens? Well for the answer to that question and so much more you are going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out.
I must admit that for me, the story was a little slow to get going. I think the fact that there was a fair amount of financial and legal jargon towards the beginning of the story and I switched off a little bit. However, once the story got going that was it and I was away. Rather than read this book in one long reading binge, I binge read it over the course of a few days, which actually helped me to enjoy the story. I had my own ideas as to what was going to happen so I had to keep reading to see if I was anywhere near the truth or I had the wrong end of the stick entirely. I would become so wrapped up in the story that I would lose all track of time and just how quickly I was getting through the story. I found ‘The Fall’ to be an interesting read, which kept me guessing and kept me on my toes.
‘The Fall’ is well written. The author certainly knows how to grab the reader’s attention and then reel the reader in as it were. For me, the story did hit the ground running and maintained a fairly fast pace throughout. This is one of those stories where the tension levels increase gradually and gather momentum before ending in a dramatic conclusion. Reading ‘The Fall’ felt like being on an times scary and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with several twists and turns along the way.
In short and overall, I did enjoy reading ‘The Fall’ and I would recommend this book to other readers. Fans of Kerry Barnes and Kerry Kaya will particularly enjoy ‘The Fall’. I will certainly be reading more of Evie’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 4* out of 5*.

Lauren is arrested and spent 3 years in prison for a crime she didn’t commit. Now out of prison Lauren wants to restart her life away from the public and sets herself up in an isolated shack in the forest and gets herself a job in a local cafe.

Interested in Lauren’s case and believing she is innocent a local journalist Nate is determined to gain Lauren’s trust, team up with her, help her prove her innocence and reveal the true culprit.

This book was so easy to read, the plot was simple, easy to follow but also had plenty to keep the reader interested. I loved the relationship the builds between Lauren and Nate and I found I really loved both of their characters. The fact that I loved the characters made this book all the more easier to read.

I also really enjoyed the ending to this book. Justice was finally done, karma came round and the real criminal was held to account and I loved the way he was brought down by a clever planned formed by Nate. The only thing I would have loved was a one year later on the end to see what became of Nate and Lauren but other than that I found this book was fast paced, thrilling and exciting.

3.5 stars rounded up.

Lauren is charged with insider trading. She is released after three years, a shell of her former self. The only thing that kept her going was exacting her revenge on the one person who let her take the fall for it all…

This was an incredibly easy read, and was an entertaining story about revenge. There weren’t many twists so I didn’t feel that it was really a thriller per se (if you’re pegging yourself as a thriller, I like to be THRILLED!!) I felt it was more a story of revenge and bringing a terrible human being to justice.

I liked Lauren, she had a punchy and sarky attitude. However, I found the whole relationship with Nate a bit far fetched if I’m honest. I was waiting for the catch (perhaps that’s the cynic in me…) but it just seemed too “boy meets girl, boy rescues girl”. And the sex…?! Did I blush? Hell yeah!! I can read my crime dark and gritty, to the point of shocking, and not bat an eyelid. But have me read a sex scene written by Hunter and I’m hiding! It didn’t feel necessary to the story if I’m honest, but Hunter clearly knows how to write sex.

The revenge plot was incredibly detailed and well thought out, and I really enjoyed that part of the story. And Kermit! Aw Kermit, bless him!

Overall, it was an entertaining read which you could easily fly through in an afternoon. Thank you to NetGalley, BoldWood Books and Rachel’s Random Resources for the advanced digital copy of this book.

When you go down for something you did not do, it's understandable you want to take revenge. Some would go in with guns blazing, but the more clever ones they wait until the right time comes along.

I can see why Lauren would want to live where she does now once she got out of prison, but in my opinion it was maybe not the best idea. But if the protagonists never make mistakes, well, there would not be a story to tell, right? :)

Who does not want a knight in shining armor to appear on your doorstep, helping you to achieve your goal, but in the end the question is, is this as satisfying?

I do see Lauren's point of view and she might seem a bit ungrateful, but she has a good point.

i liked the plan that was made, but it's not over till it's over.

My favorite character: Kermit, the feisty little dog. He stole my heart and he really was the bravest.

The sex scenes did not add anything to the story for me, but it does not matter. After all it's the author who decides what to write about and how to build the story. 4 stars

Thank you

The Fall by Evie Hunter is a gritty revenge thriller that had plenty to keep the reader invested. I like this author’s writing style. It is simple but effective and packs a punch in the right places. The pacing was great, and I was invested from beginning to end.
The characters are complex. Lauren is a strong woman with quite the past. I found her relationship with Nate intriguing, and I enjoyed how it built over time. The character driven atmosphere of this novel made it even more compelling.
The plot was thrilling. It was interesting to see how the characters tracked down what they were looking for. Fast paced and entertaining, I would recommend this book to thriller fans.

Having spent time in prison for the last 6 years for a crime she hadn't committed Lauren Miller has been released.
Licking her wounds she wants to hide away from the world, her well-to-do parents who are ashamed of her find her a shack in the woods, it's run-down but she doesn't care she just wants to plot her revenge on those that are to blame.

A local journalist Nate Black picks up her story and is interested in what went on. After meeting Lauren he wants to help her clear her name. He comes up with a plan to catch the real offender, but who knows if it will work?

This was a really good thrilling book it had a few twists and turns which keeps the reader interested.
Will they find who did commit the crime? Will the culprit be brought to justice?

She’s out of prison, she out for revenge and she’s running out of time!

A fantastic intense, gripping and fast paced thriller which kept me intrigued right up the cleverly written conclusion. This is perfect for anyone who enjoys gangland and criminal thrillers, with a little bit of raunchiness thrown in for good measure.

I really enjoyed learning about Lauren Miller and as a leading character, I loved to see the softer side under the harsh, strong exterior.

My only critic would be that some parts were a little predictable but this could be because I’ve read so many others in this genre!

Now anyone who knows me knows I love a good thriller and this one definitely fits that category. This isn't an author I've heard of before but I would read more thrillers by this author .

As soon as you start this book the action kicks in , unlike some books this one keeps the momentum going , it is a really easy read with twists and unexpected moments but it keeps you on the storyline , and keeps your mind focused on it and on the characters trying to work what is going to happen and just who you can trust in the book !

Overall a great , interesting read that will keep drawing you in to it , with a set of great characters to try work out it is sure to keep any reader wanting to keep reading.

I was hooked from the very first few pages and ended up a great page turner that had me up all night!!. The Fall had great twists and turns throughout which was very gritty and a hard hitting thriller, that had me sitting on the edge of my seat in a few places.............This made this book brilliant! especially as it had an excellent ending! Didn't see that coming!

I will certainly be reading more of Evie’s work in the future. and I highly recommend this latest book by Evie.

Review - ⭐⭐⭐.5

If you got sent to a prison for a crime you didn’t commit it would give you a lot of time to think and plan your revenge on the people that put you there.

This starts as a slow burner as you get to know the characters but there are some nasty surprises and people to keep you hooked! As other reviews have said I think the sex was unnecessary and didn't actually add anything to the storyline.

The book was easy to read and simple to follow the plot, you could easily read it in one sitting.

Duped by her lover, Lauren finds herself leaving jail after three years and trying to lay low. A reporter gets a whiff of her story and wants an interview, but as their relationship grows, Lauren finds herself planning another illegal move.

This was a pretty good story, though the sex scenes got to be long enough that I lost interest. Still, I liked the story and the turns toward the end. The audiobook is a bit meh since the narrator's American accent is pretty distracting with its inconsistency.

This is my fourth audiobook by Evie Miller. I expected that it would be as fast paced and unpredictable as the others. It was not. Lauren served six years for a crime she admitted to her hero, journalist Nate Black, she did in fact commit. Nate seemed to good to be true and after galloping from Colorado to England, he expected Lauren to believe his pure motives simply because he professed to be a good guy. Of course they have steamy sexual encounters, written in great detail.
The book was just okay.

Never heard of this author but wow what a great read and I’ll definitely be looking for previous stories. This is a well written story about Lauren Miller. She is just out of prison for a crime she didn’t commit and she’s determined to get revenge. Definitely a page Turner as I found myself staying up until the wee hours as I needed to know what was going to happen next.

Can’t wait to read more from this author.

Not my typical type of book, but it came recommended by my mother, who loves this genre, and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it.
A great story that flew along. Characters who you could believe and were rooting for.
The only reason I gave this four stars and not five was because, in my opinion, the ending came too quick. I really wanted him to suffer.
I liked this so much that I immediately started The Chase.
Enjoy

I found this book to be a very fast paced and quick read. It was easy to follow. I really enjoyed it. I can't imagine being put in prison for someone else's crime. I would probably seek revenge too! Lol! Six years is a long time. This book had me blushing too! STEAMY! The author has a gift! I was entertained from page one until the end. It was easy to imagine everything as I was reading.

So this is a story of revenge and succeeding. It's a gritty drama with a lot of sex. Not sure if that was needed as it didn't really have anything to do with the story.

I enjoyed the read. It kept me interested from the start.

Enjoy!

Excellent read, good intrigue and suspense all through until the last chapter, then hurried with conclusion, leaving unanswered questions. It seemed to me that the author got fed up and rushed to finish book , disappointing conclusion not like the rest of the book , would have given five stars if ending hadn’t been so rushed
