Also writes under April Asher.

April Asher, aka April Hunt, was hooked on romantic stories from the time she first snuck a bodice-ripper romance out from her mom's bedside table. She now lives out her own happily-ever-after with her college-sweetheart husband, their two children, and a cat who thinks she's more dog—and human—than feline. By day, April dons dark blue nursing scrubs and drinks way too much caffeine. By night, she still consumes too much caffeine, but she does it with a laptop in hand, and from her favorite side of the couch.

From the far left cushion, April Asher pens laugh-out-loud romantic comedies with a paranormal twist, but when she’s not putting her characters into embarrassing situations with supernatural entities, she also writes high-octane romantic suspense as April Hunt, her thrill-seeking alter ego.

Lethal Redemption is book two in the Steele Ops series. It is Grace and Cade's story and can be read as a standalone.

Grace is a tough, take no prisoners, FBI agent. Her next op takes her back to DC where her family and her ex, live. There is a lot of history between Grace and Cade and they didn't exactly end on good terms. She's forced to work with him again when her cousins security firm request her help to rescue the Vice Presidents daughter from the very cult Grace walked away from when she was 13.

Cade grew up with the Steele brothers and dated Grace for many years until they parted ways. He's newly hired into Steele Ops just as Grace returns to work with them. He may have been the one to walk away from Grace, but things aren't always what they seem. You don't really learn the full truth of what happened with them at first but you can tell from the very beginning that Cade never got over her. However Grace is not feeling all warm and fuzzy to be forced to work with Cade.

As far as second chance romance goes, this is the type I like to see. The fact that Cade never got over Grace and actively pursues her, makes up for him walking away all those years ago. I'm a sucker for a guy-chase-girl story. I also really liked how tough Grace was. She can handle her own and I love that in a heroine.

Overall, for my first book from April Hunt, this was a good one to dip my toes into. Grace's cousins, the Steele brothers, seem like they will provide very entertaining books of their own. I will definitely be reading more in this series.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Grace's job as a FBI profiler has pitted her up against some of the most dangerous people. When the Vice President of the United States asks for her help in rescuing his daughter she can't say no, even if it involves going back to the cult she escaped seventeen years ago.
Cade will never stop loving his bestfriends' cousin Grace, even if he felt he had to walk away from her nine years ago. When she has to put herself in danger for the mission, he's going to be right there beside her.
Grace and Cade may have their second chance at love but they'll have to stop the murderous rage of a cult first.

Her worst fear---or one of them---was about to come to fruition. The other had been watching the man she loved---and trusted---walk away and out of her life.

Lethal Redemption is the second installment of the Steele Ops series, a group of former military men and women who have built their own security business. They operate out of a beer distillery and do operations that the U.S. government doesn't want their name attached to. The Vice President's daughter has fallen into The New Order of the Dawn, a cult, and needs to be rescued but the Vice President doesn't want any media attention. If you read the first in the series (Deadly Obsession) you'll remember Grace and Cade as the antagonistic twosome that obviously still had feelings for each other. Even though we got glimpses of these two in the first, you could still comfortably start here.

After seventeen years of being free of Father Teague's daily Blessings and her mother's nonstop disapproving lectures, she was headed back to New Dawn...and back to the people who stole eight years of her childhood.

Grace came to live with her four male cousins when she escaped from the Order of the New Dawn cult. Her father had died and her mother had dragged her into the cult. Cade and his sister Zoey (heroine from book one) were friends with the four Steele cousins and thus Cade and Grace grew-up together. They dated while in college and had big plans put Cade decided to reenlist in the Army without telling Grace and they broke up. I really missed watching Grace and Cade grow to be in love. Their second chance romance didn't get as much page time as I would have liked because of the cult storyline dominating the plot. The two did have a nice flow to their interactions but the feelings and attraction build-up has already happened and we get more of “well, let's try this again”, some fear from both sides, and then “we're together again”. These actions and emotions don't necessarily cycle through quickly, but they didn't have the number of steps and depth I need to really get involved with a couple.

She trusted him.
Now it was up to him to make sure she never regretted it.

Grace was the much more shaded in character, with her time in the cult, escaping, adjusting to living with cousins, Cade issues, and then having to go back into the cult and seeing her mother again. There is some ground work laid from the first book about the issues Cade has with his father but Cade was mostly in the story to support, get protective if Grace put herself in danger, and be there for the sex scenes. The fact that they had previously developed feelings of love and the cult plot really stole any page time from their romance.

The New Dawn cult, their workings, was interesting but the conclusion to how the Vice President's daughter fit in and the threads that untangled to reveal the who and what, made for a somewhat muddy and trying too hard to be clever climax. There are still some Steele Ops members that need their happily ever after and a possible Vice President's daughter and Secret Service Agent. This author does always manage to pull me into the story, there's an easy of flow and movement to characters that I enjoy, so I'll still be checking out the series next romance and adventure.

This was a quick read. It's a romantic suspense and I read the first one, Lethal Obsession and really liked it. This one focuses on two characters that were minor characters in book 1. I liked the characters and I enjoyed the plot. The ending fell flat for me - it needed more of a wrap up with the main characters and it seemed rushed.

And this just bugged me

Lethal Redemption is the second installment in the Steele Ops Series by April Hunt and works amazingly well as a standalone. The first book was a 5 star read for me and this definitely delivered for me with all the suspense and the romance.

This story follows Grace Steele, an FBI profiler whose history as a teen involved joining and escaping a cult called the Order of the New Dawn. Now, she is called upon to help the daughter of the Vice President. The mission is to pose as a couple with Cade Wright, who broke her heart many years ago. Grace is a character I loved – she is strong, no nonsense, and of course, it is a bonus that she has a gun named Magdalena – I am sold!

April Hunt is the queen of writing these romantic suspense genres that will keep your nose in the book, heart racing for the mystery and romance, and all while keeping you at a constant thrill to the very end. It is a fast paced read and highly entertaining. You will definitely enjoy the chemistry between Grace and Cade. I cannot wait for the next installation of this series. April Hunt is an auto buy author for me. I love reading her writing, which is flawless and highly addictive.

Thank you to Estelle and the team at ForeverPub for introducing me to the ever so wonderful April Hunt! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily reviewed this book. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed the first book of this series and couldn’t wait to get to this one.

I loved Grace and Cade. She’s smart and strong and doesn’t take any shit, but she’s quite vulnerable. He’s basically the same. I loved their history and button pushing and chemistry. I especially loved seeing everyone else in the family.

Plot wise, it was okay. I didn’t find the cult story line very interesting so I wasn’t captivated from the story. However, I was really invested in Grace and Cade’s HEA, so I kept reading just to see how that played out.

Overall, it was the characters who kept me reading. I can’t wait to see the next book in the series.

I don't often read romantic suspense, but I really enjoyed Lethal Redemption. It was a fast paced and entertaining read. I am a sucker for second chance romances, especially childhood sweethearts, so I was rooting for Grace and Cade from the very start. Throw in the fake relationship trope and lots of action and I was sold! This is book 2 in the series, but can be enjoyed as a standalone. I have not had a chance to read book 1 yet and did not feel lost with the different characters and background of the story/series.

Grace was a really intriguing heroine. I loved her intelligence and take no prisoners attitude. Her chemistry with Cade was undeniable and their banter and back and forth was fantastic. As much as I loved Grace and Cade though, the cause of their separation didn't quite sit right with me. It felt too sudden and drastic after hearing about their supposed epic love. Second chance always has lots of angst, but I almost felt like this had too little. Yes, nine years have passed, but things flipped relatively quickly. I didn't like that things fell to Grace with the drama at the end either. I felt like Cade needed to do more groveling and play a more active role this time around.

The plot of the story and discussion about cults was fascinating. I thought the writing was stellar and I really felt like I was getting a glimpse into that world. The different layers and ideaology behind the fictitious Order of the New Dawn were well thought out and made for a compelling and unique backdrop for the story. This was an action packed read and I didn't see some of the twists coming. This is my first April Hunt book, but I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series.

3.5-4 stars

Grace has worked tirelessly to bury her memories of her time with New Dawn by concentrating on her family, her friends and her work. Anything to keep that time and those memories locked up tight. When the Vice President's daughter gets recruited to the radical cult and Steele Ops gets hired to extract her, Grace will have to revisit her painful past to infiltrate the cult.

If that wasn't bad enough, she'll have to work with her ex, Cade. Posing as a couple and using her connections to get them closer to their target. The mission is already borderline life or death, now her heart's also on the line.

Growing up in a cult and escaping at 13 has left it's marks on Grace and trust doesn't come easy. Being burned by one of the few people she took down her walls for isn't something easily forgotten or forgiven. When Cade walked away from her nine years ago, she never got over the hurt. Having him back brings it all back but the more time she spends with him, the more all the good memories of them comes back just as vividly.

With a vastly changed New Dawn on the horizon, planning something more deadly than they'd ever imagined, Grace and Cade will have to find a way to get out alive and maybe both are finally ready to look to the future, together.

What I liked about it:
I really liked both MCs. Grace was a smart, independent heroine who pulled at my heartstrings with her traumatic childhood and how she turns it all around with the help of her second chance family. I loved her deep connection to her cousins and her aunt. Even her friendship with Zoey was something she cherished and respected. I definitely sided with her and thought her hurt and anger was justified. The way things ended between her and Cade, especially the reason behind it, all added to her emotional upheaval every time she found her self in close proximity to the man that loved and left her.

I might have been biased when it came to Cade because I loved his loving protective big brother role he played in Deadly Obsession (he is Zoey's older brother). So he already had brownie points for that. It also helps that he was up front, right from the start, over his need to win Grace back. He knows he messed up years ago and he isn't willing to sit back and wait for Grace to give him a second chance. You never have to wonder about him or his intentions because he declares himself almost from page one. Grace has cold feet when it comes to opening her heart to him again and Cade has his work cut out for him. Not only needing to protect the woman he loves while she goes back to the nightmare of her past, but also winning her heart and showing her that he's there for the long run. No more keeping secrets, no more hiding . I like a Hero that can admit he's wrong and can commit to doing everything to prove he's worthy of another chance.

What I didn't like:
So I really liked the high stakes mission, the suspense, the action, the undercover adrenaline rush, it was all great. I especially loved the cameos of all the side characters because it just kept me excited to read more about each of them. Especially Tank and Jaz and Roman and Liam :)

Even the reconciliation of Grace and Cade was cute and their chemistry was off the charts.

But I still rated it only a 3.5 because of the long separation. 9 years is a loooong time! On top of that, the reason behind their break up was one of my pet peeves in romance. Miscommunication. They were best friends, high school sweethearts and completely in love and all of it gets thrown away

Favorite Line:
Grace was a snarky character with a funny sense of humor in book one and you see a little bit more of it here :)
"Asshattedness is totally a word and you don't need to look it up. Just look in the mirror. The definition will literally stare you in the face."

Would I recommend?
The suspense in this series keeps getting better and better. After the sneak peak of Roman's story (Fatal Deception - coming Spring 2020) I'm beyond excited to see where the Steele Ops team goes!

Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) provided by the Author and Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an fair and honest review.

The first book in this series featured a serial killer, top of my list of hated tropes. This book has a cult as the focus, number 2 on that same list. Yet . . . I really, really liked this book, and the series as a whole is supremely crafted and structured. The series is centered around a family of former Special Operators, the Steele family, who open a security/dark ops business with a trendy brewery as a cover. The family and friends and plots are just wonderful and I can't wait for the next book.

When Grace Steele was five her father died and her mother joined a cult. Grace just wasn't cut out for the one size fits all concept and at thirteen she escaped the Order of the New Dawn, with a little help, found her father's family, who accepted her for who she was and never asked questions. She became a top FBI profiler, fell in love and had her heart broken. Now, the Vice President of the United States needs her help to rescue his daughter from that cult.

Cade Wright knew when he reenlisted and left Grace nine years age that it was the biggest mistake of his life. Being close to her family and seeing her on occasion only brought home just what a mistake he had made. When the Vice President needs Steele Ops to rescue his daughter and he needs to work closely with Grace, he can only pray that she will give them another chance.

This book was a great introduction to this author’s work. The characters were well rounded and had so much personality. Liam really stood out for me. He added comic relief and lighted so many tension filled situations. Though this is book two in a series it was perfectly written as a standalone. I didn’t get lost in any of the plot or storyline for the main characters and was easily able to jump right in and feel like I already knew each and every person that played a part in the story.

Lethal Redemption was a wonderful second chance at a happily-ever-after for Grace and Cade. High school sweethearts with a history that went much farther than that. They shared a very deep connection, not just with each other but their families.

April Hunt’s ‘Lethal Redemption’ ticks all the boxes for classic RS on the surface: a high stakes operation, an infiltration and an unresolved tension between a couple who’s got years and years of conflicted history. Grace Steele—a badass FBI agent—is tasked in the middle of the night with extracting the Vie-President’s daughter out of a dangerous cult because of her unique background but to add to the monumentally difficult operation is probably one where she has to work with Cade Wright…someone with whom she hasn’t worked out her issues with yet.

The suspense plot was a good one; it was well-crafted and well-written with enough action peaks and pull-backs to give you a breather when needed. Infiltrating a militant cult, going an exfil and then taking it down was the believably complex operation that Hunt made it out to be and that much detail went into the storytelling so that you could lose yourself in the drama of it all.

Secondary characters were integrated quite strongly in the story from the start—characters who had or will have stories of their own—in the Steele Ops series which admittedly made it difficult at times to focus on the development of the plot as well as the relationship between Cade/Grace at times.

The biggest drawback however, was probably the second-chance romance between Cade and Grace that I had a huge issue with. Then again, I’ve said time and again in my reviews that this is by far my least favourite trope and that it only rarely works for me—with many, many conditions attached and with all my probing questions answered. And in ‘Lethal Redemption’, these weren’t entirely met.

What made their second chance entirely unconvincing was the idea of Cade leaving Grace nearly a decade ago, regretting it, and then never doing anything about it after realising it early on—then seeking out other women during that time while still knowing that Grace was (and always had been) the one for him. Why the hell not?

Wanting more now all these years later didn’t do much to erase that brand of ‘masculine hypocrisy’ so to speak, when it seemed as though Grace was the one who’d needed to mend that bridge between them when push came to shove towards the end. Cade’s intentions of wanting a permanent future for them seemed only mental but never quite executed in action when it mattered most; basically I’d expected more from him but merely got lip-service (quite literally) delivered.

Rating this book was ultimately one that had me torn between rating the suspense on its own and then the romance which proved to be a downer. To think of ‘Lethal Redemption’ as romantic suspense when the romance didn’t work out too well while the suspense carried the plot unfortunately, felt like a misnomer. I wished it turned out better, but I ended this feeling too dissatisfied to say I really liked it.

Lately I have read more than a few books with people who have managed to escape from cults and who have managed to really make something of their lives. In Lethal Redemption by April Hunt, our female protagonist Grace Steele, now an FBI profiler, was able to escape the Order of the New Dawn when she was much younger, and has done her best to bury her troubling memories while she was there. However when the Steele Ops private security agency requests her help rescuing a woman named Sarah Brandt, she agrees, even though she knows she will be plagued by disturbing memories.

Cade Wright, who works with Steele Ops is the man that Grace will be working with in order to rescue Sarah. This could be problematic because Cade and Grace have a past, one that ended over nine years earlier. Working together just might give Cade another chance with Grace, a chance to prove to her that he has changed, that he is worthy of another chance.

Lethal Redemption is an incredibly intense book! We have at least three things going on in this book - rescuing Sarah, Grace's traumatic past with the cult, especially considering who one of the cult members were and how this still affects her today and then the growing relationship she has with Cade. These scenarios, with a mix of past and present, work remarkably well together to create an incredibly compulsive read.

I loved how Grace and Cade had to "pretend" to be a couple in order to infiltrate the cult. Their history, which at one point ended on a very bad note, combined with long-buried feelings forcing their way to the surface, added an incredible amount of tension to what was already a compelling story. The first book in this series, Deadly Obsession, was equally impressive, leaving me excited to read the next book in the series, Fatal Deception, which is currently in my TBR.

Many thanks to Forever and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Lethal Redemption by April Hunt is book Two in the Steele Ops Series. This is the story of Cade Wright and Grace Steele. I have read the previous books but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Grace is a FBI Profile agent who works hard to help others and her job. So when she is requested to help the Vice Presidents daughter who has ended up with the same Cult that Grace escaped from she goes forward to do so. This also puts her back with Cade a man who she loved but they broke up and now she has to pretend to be with him again. This was a very exciting read that touched your heart with a second chance romance.
Loved it!

Another page turner

More thriller in this installment over romance. Grace and Cade find a second chance as they take down the cult responsible for brainwashing members to conduct revenge.
I'm a sucker for second chance romance. I love seeing the characters connect and overcome the obstacles that keep them apart. Unfortunately this is takes a back seat to the takedown of The Order.
Who should read? If you are looking for more Mission Impossible than romance, Ms. Hunt writes a fast-paced page-turner. Looking for less steamy, more law enforcement thriller, here you go.
However, this is where I stop in the series. I love the writing, but this book didn't give me a couple to want to know more about in the end as I did with book 1. I enjoy more romance over mystery.

The first book in this series, DEADLY OBSESSION, was good, I enjoyed it. But LETHAL REDEMPTION blew me away! The suspense storyline (I’m a sucker for a cult-involved romantic suspense), the well-rounded characters, the sexual tension, the BANTER. I loved it. Brava, Ms. Hunt!

This second chance romance, romantic suspense novel follows childhood friends and former teenage sweethearts Cade and Grace. They’re racing to take down the cult Grace grew up in before they corrupt the Vice President’s daughter. Give me all this delicious forced proximity any day!

As I mentioned, there is something scary and intriguing about cults and Ms. Hunt did a great job of freaking me out, but not so much that I wanted to stop reading. Grace and Cade’s romance was well intertwined into the suspense plot, which made for a well-balanced read. The mystery and the romance worked together as opposed to fighting for supremacy.

I think my favorite character in the whole book was Grace. She was a strong and independent woman who pulled herself out of a terrifying situation as a child and then willingly dove back in for the sake of her country. Her longing for Cade and heartbreak when he left added a layer of vulnerability that kept her relatable.

Overall, I’m now fully invested in this series. Consider me a big-time April Hunt fan! I just snatched up a bunch of her backlist books and I marked the date of her next release on my calendar. I’m ready!!

Received in exchange for a honest review.

I think this is my favorite book in the series. I like the background information and seeing Grace struggle and come to terms with her past by facing it. I love how Cade understood what Grace was going through and supporting her and just being there. Not trying to explain things away, not pushing her but supporting her. He didn’t want to lose her to the demons.

Cade was a great character. He had his flaws and that is what draws you to him. He isn’t perfect but he is for Grace. He keeps her grounded. Grace does the same for him. Grace is the sharp tongued, strong and smart girl that Cade let go of due to fear. Their banter draws you to them and watching them grow close and let each other in again keeps you there.

The story is very intriguing. A agent who comes back to face her demons and bring down a cult while trying to get someone out and in the process she learns more than she wanted to know. She learns who her mom really is. And boy is she a piece of work. She learns to let someone from the past back in and to trust them again. To see and listen to him and see what he went through as well. Sometimes we let our pain keep up from seeing and listening and I was glad Cade got her to open up to him again.

The cult that Grace was a part of as a child is crazy. They are also more dangerous than when she was there. When her and Cade go undercover we see a cult that has gone beyond the dark side and acts more on revenge and anger. On one that finds you gaining enlightenment only by harming others and making others suffer. These two were in a situation that was dangerous but also could get them involved in a cult in ways they didn’t want to be. Grace had to ingratiate back into the flock and at times you worried for her. She is a strong person though and with Cade for support she kept her wits even as she found out truths about her mom that no one would want to face.

The romance was a slow burn and filled with great sarcastic banter and steamy times. But more than that it was a second chance romance where they had to become friends and learn to trust one another once more. That had to find their way back to one another through opening up and confiding in each other. By facing their own demons and admitting to them. And letting the other in.

a great story filled with danger, intrigue, steamy romance, friendship, family, love and loyalty.

Thank you Forever Romance for generously sending a copy of Lethal Redemption!⁣

Do you remember that TV show The Following with Kevin Bacon? If you are as weirdly intrigued by anything and everything cults like I am, you probably watched it too. Lethal Redemption reminded me of The Following in the best ways! Hell yes to a romantic suspense that combines invading a dangerous cult with steam!

I read and loved Deadly Obsession, the first in April Hunt’s Steele Ops series earlier this year. It was my first romantic suspense and made me obsessed with the genre. I could not wait tp read Lethal Redemption, especially once I heard it was going to be a second chance romance. And believe me, it was worth the wait.

Grace Steele, a top FBI profiler, knows cults. She escaped the Order of the New Dawn as a teen and hasn’t looked back. Until the private security firm Steele Ops needs her help saving the Vice President’s daughter from the cult’s hold. The only way to get back inside the cult she never wanted to see again? Posing as the fiancé of Cade Wright, the man who broke her heart nine years earlier.

I loved this one so much! The first part reads like a fast paced TV show, Grace has to go back to a mental place she never wanted to be again, back in the crosshairs of the cult that her mother took her to as a child. And the best way to do that is to pretend to be engaged to her former love and join the cult as a couple. The interactions between Grade and Cade are excellent, there’s even some “there’s only one bed” situations. But once you hit the steamy parts the chemistry between them is off the charts. I throughly enjoyed the pacing and plot for both the romance and action scenes, I mean you can’t go wrong with a fake relationship between two former lovers set in the middle of a cult!

Lethal Redemption was a 4.5 star read for me! I highly, highly recommend trying both this one and Deadly Obsession if you want to try romantic suspense! Both are exceptionally well written and such enjoyable reads.

M/F Romance
Triggers: Cult, Murder
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

This is the second book in the series and I would very strongly recommend that you read book 1, as you'll understand the characters more thoroughly.

Grace is asked to help out on an op as a personal favor to the vice president. When she doesn't know for sure is that she is going to have to see the one person who she can't seem to forget, despite the hurt and pain they've caused her. Grace's background in the Order of the New Dawn (OND) is exactly what is needed. They need her knowledge of the group to try and infiltrate.

Cade knows that he messed up when he left Grace behind. But, he isn't going to let the uncomfortable feelings she creates in him to stop him from protecting her. When Cade volunteers to help Grace, he knows he's in for a fight. What he doesn't realize is how much of herself Grace has kept hidden away. Cade wants another chance, but they have to survive this assignment first.

With nobody to turn to but each other, Cade and Grace will have to keep their feelings in check and their wits about them. OND is no joke and they have become much more dangerous. Grace has to fight her own demons and make sure that she stays mentally aware. She knows just how deep the rabbit hole can go and she wants to stay far away.

This keeps you on edge and guessing about what the true end goal is. While I was able to figure out the who part, it didn't detract from the book story at all. I can't wait to see what book 3 brings.

Lethal Redemption is the second book in the Steele Ops series by April Hunt. It can be read as stand-alone and the main characters from book 1 appear in this story, but there is no need to read that book if you don't want to.

The book had a very good premise, but it didn't work out for me. Mainly because the second most used cliche phrase was used when it came to the hero sleeping with other women after the heroine. You see the hero slept with other women in the ten years they were apart, but not with women who had the same hair colour as Grace because she was the only one with that hair colour he could have wanted. I hate when someone is pinning for the person they broke up with, but never actually tries to work things out. Or maybe he did, but not to the point I read. I could get that sentence out of my head after I read it and at some point, I stopped. Yeah, I DNF the book. It can happen when it comes to second chance romances. They are a hit or miss for me and that phrase was the thing that made the book a miss for me, even though it had so much potential.

I read the first book in this series and really enjoyed it. This one, I loved. I think it's because the 'world' has already been set up, you know most of the side characters and got a little background on the main characters in the previous book, Deadly Obsession.
Deadly Obsession was my first book by April Hunt and I was super excited to read this one next. We met Cade and Grace in DO and knew there would be a lot of tension between them in Lethal Redemption. Grace, a Special Agent in the FBI & Cade, former military, detective and now a part of Steele Ops, have known each other for years. Many of those years they were a couple until something happened to split them up. It's now years later and they have to work together to infiltrate a cult.
Past hurts and two very strong willed people created a lot of snark and great banter. I laughed a number of times while reading this fast paced, action packed, fun, sexy, suspenseful romance. I found it hard to put down and read it in a day.
Cults, under cover work, secrets, murders and a gun named Magdalena. Trust me, you'll want to read this one.
I received an advance reader copy for an honest review.

“More? You want what? You want love ballads and sonnets? A picket fence and two-point-oh children?”
“Years down the line? Maybe. But for now I'd settle for a clean slate and an honest-to-God stab at a second chance.”

Having thoroughly enjoyed Deadly Obsession, which was the first book in this series of interconnected standalones, I was pretty jazzed to read Cade and Grace's story. I found it to be an edge-of-your-seat suspense with a hefty dose of romance and heat, and more than enough banter to make me smile.

This was, simply put, a really enjoyable book. Though I felt it slowed a little through the middle, it was all the while engaging and exciting and sweet; a very well-written example of one of my favorite tropes—second chance romance. There was action, sex, snippy comments (and a sniper), wrapped in a mystery that would actually make good TV (can we make that happen? I'd definitely watch it), and a love that was solidly built on an off-page, in-the-past foundation.

Ultimately, Lethal Redemption offered a foray into forgiveness and redemption that was super rewarding and super sexy, and I have no doubt that I'll be back for a third go-around with the Steele Ops team when the next book releases.

FBI agent Grace Steele was 13 when she escaped from the order Of The New Dawn, a cult that her Mother brought her to as a child. Grace had put the cult in her rear view mirror until she is asked to help get the daughter of the Vice President away from the Cult. Grace doesn’t feel she can say no and she is partnered with Cade Wright her former child hood love.

This book is action packed and will grab you from the first page. It will have you on the edge of your seat rooting for Grace and Cade to succeed. I couldn’t stop turning the pages. There is a twist at the end of the story that caught me by surprise. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Lethal Redemption is the second book in the Steele Ops series by April Hunt. A suspenseful romance that will keep you turning pages second guessing until the very. This fast-paced read is full of mystery, suspense, drama, romance, and the fear of the unknown. Lethal Redemption keeps you on the edge of your seat never knowing what will happen next. The characters are well-written and develop wonderfully as the story unfolds. Hunt's writing is brilliant as it brings the story to life and reads like a movie. I highly recommend Lethal Redemption for fans of a romantic suspense and look forward to the next book in the Steele Ops series.

The Steele Ops series has not disappointed so far! This is romantic suspense at its best. I’ve been utterly enthralled with the back stories of these characters and how it plays into their current situation. Grace’s back story is pretty fascinating and really informs her choices as an FBI agent. I really love The strong female leads in these books too! We meet Grace and Cade in book 1, Deadly Obsession, and learn there’s some history between the two. Luckily, April Hunt writes the enemies to lovers so well! Seriously, between the second chance romance and the suspense of the situation they’re in I couldn’t put it down. I would definitely recommend this series!

Grace Steele is an FBI profiler - who is called upon to help on a special mission she is uniquely qualified for. It isn’t her profiling skills that are needed this time - it’s her knowledge and history.

When Grace was a little girl, her mom moved them to live with the Order of the New Dawn - a cult. Now someone very important is in the cult and it’s up to Grace and the Steele Ops team to extract her. If that wasn’t already the last place she wanted to be - she’s also going to have to go undercover partnered with Cade, her first love that ended badly 17 years ago.

This book was a wild ride with so many great elements:

✔️Second chance romance
✔️Cult
✔️Suspenseful moments that will have you on the edge of your seat
✔️A plot that will have you rapidly turning pages to see what happens next

This is the second book in the series and while I do think it added something to have read the first, you could also read it as a stand-alone.

Thank you so much to Forever and Netgalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy.

Lethal Redemption 💣

“Is there really was such a thing as New Dawn, Cade Wright stood right in the middle of hers”

When Estelle recommended this romantic suspense to me I didn’t know I was gonna be in for such a wild road. Shout out to my friends over at @readforeverpub for the free copy in exchange for my review! #partner
The sexual tension starts off within the first ten pages which is just the right amount of time to set the tone for the story and drawn you in. However, the first 100 pages are more FBI/CSI like than romance. The romance remains throughout the book but the story is definitely suspense based. But let me tell you when the romance hits in this book it’s hits HOT! I’d give it a solid 🔥🔥🔥.5 on the steam chart.
This book gave me allllll of the FBI tv show feels. The main character deliberately kept putting herself in harms way and it gave me allllll the anxiety 🙈 Both of the main characters were so incredibly strong and I loved how they both had their own faults that they talked about and didn’t put the other down. For my first romantic suspense this one was definitely the perfect one to start with!

The Steele Ops series is quickly becoming a favorite for me! April Hunt knows how to write romantic suspense that has me begging for more!

When I realized this book was about Grace and Cade, I could not devour it fast enough. I loved learning the bits and pieces about what happened with them through the other standalones in the series, but finally having a front row seat to all the angst, heartache, and danger... let's just say it was worth the sleepless night and extra cups of coffee in the morning.

This second chance romance is everything. I loved the bonds that tied these two together, the ones that can't seemed to be severed no matter how hard they try. I loved that Cade understood what he did wrong and refuses to let Grace slip through his fingers again. The tension between Cade and Grace is electrifying! Add in a healthy dose of meddling family members and sparks of comedy and you have yourself a 5 star read!

I completely adored the second installment in this series! Lethal Redemption is a great couples with history romantic suspense. The stakes were plenty high and kept my adrenaline going. The aspect of a cult religion in this one really worked well for me. I also love the fake dating/forced proximity part of this as well. These two were clearly written to be made for each other, but there was a genuine betrayal of trust in their relationship that changed everything.
Hunt knows what she is doing, and I am going to continue to read her work!
